  • Many characters of Adventure Time have these.
    • Princess Bubblegum is on occasion called "PB" and "Peebles".
    • When he was still Simon Petrikov, Ice King called Marceline "Marcy".
    • As her full title is a little bit of a mouthful, Lumpy Space Princess is called "LSP" by most characters.
  • In All Grown Up!, Tommy, Chuckie, and Dil all call each other by the initial of their first name (T, C, D). Phil does this as well, though nobody calls him P.
  • In All Hail King Julien, everyone refers to King Julien XIII's evil uncle King Julien XII as "Uncle King Julien." It's to the point that, when Julien XIII reads an official document that refers to "King Julien XII," he doesn't recognize who that is right away.
  • Animaniacs has Princess Angelina Contessa Louisa Francesca Banana Fanna Bo Besca the Third, aka Dot. But call her Dottie and you die.
  • Avatar: The Last Airbender:
    • Toph likes to give nicknames to her friends. Most of them are one-offs but her nickname for Aang, "Twinkletoes", sticks.
    • Azula's much-despised nickname for her brother, "Zuzu".
  • Big City Greens:
    • Cricket refers to himself as "Crickey", while Tilly calls him "Brother".
    • Likewise, Tilly is often called "Til" by Cricket.
    • Gramma often calls Bill "Billy Boy".
    • Nancy is referred to as "Nance" by Bill.
  • Code Lyoko: Odd takes to calling Aelita "Princess" and Jérémie "Einstein". Sissi sometimes refers to Aelita as "M(r)s. Einstein," either because she's just as much of a Teen Genius as Jérémie is or because of how close she and Jérémie are.
  • Daria:
    • Practically everyone calls Michael Mackenzie "Mack." One exception is his best friend Kevin, who calls him "Mack-Daddy." Mack finds that one rather annoying.
    • Another example is Charles "Upchuck" Ruttheimer III.
    • There is also the Lane siblings' Affectionate Nickname for their youngest sister, "Janie," and Jake's habit of calling Daria "kiddo."
  • Ed, Edd n Eddy
    • Edd is usually called "Double-D" to avoid confusion with Ed. Eddy gives Edd the more derisive "Sockhead", while Ed is "Lumpy" or "Monobrow".
    • Rolf rarely calls any characters by their real names. The Eds are often called "____ Ed Boy" by him. Nazz is also either referred to as "Spindleshanks Nazz-Girl" or "Go Go Nazz Girl". Kevin also calls Jimmy "Fluffy".
    • The protagonists are rarely called by their full names; Edward, Eddward, and Edward.Note
    • Kevin is called "Shovel Chin" by Eddy due to his large chin.
    • And of course, the Eds are almost exclusively referred to as "Dorks" by Kevin, whether singular or calling all three "the Dorks" or "Dork, Dork and Dorky." He gives "Double-D" two nicknames in place of his usual one, "Double-Dweeb" and "Double-Dork".
  • In Gabby’s Dollhouse, There's a Gabby Cat who's full name is "Daniel James Catnip", but he often goes by his nickname "DJ Catnip"
  • In Gravity Falls, Soos sometimes calls Mabel "Hambone".
  • King of the Hill: During his high school days, Bill Dauterive was an offensive lineman for Arlen High's football team, and got dubbed "The Billdozer" for his ability to plow through defensive lines, setting the school's record for most career touchdowns.
  • Language Arts Through Imagination: The kids will sometimes call Figment "Figgy".
  • The Legend of Korra
    • The Lieutenant is only known by his nickname. Bolin however, calls him mustache guy once.
    • In addition, flashbacks show that Toph still calls Aang "Twinkletoes" as adults.
      Aang: Toph, I'm 40-years-old. You think you can stop with the nicknames?
      Toph: Fraid not.
    • In Book 3, Mako refers to Red Lotus operatives Ming-Hua and Ghazan as "Water-Arm Lady" and "Lava Guy."
    • In Book 4, an elderly Toph resurfaces and addresses Korra as "Twinkletoes."
  • In Motorcity, Mike and Chuck call each other "Mikey" and "Chuckles" at times. Mike often calls Julie "Jules/Jewels." Texas is sometimes called Tex.
  • My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic has a lot of these. Among others:
    • Spike is sometimes called "Spikey-Wikey."
    • Applejack is sometimes called "AJ."
    • Rainbow Dash is occasionally called "Dash," but more usually "Rainbow," and at least once, "RD." Pinkie sometimes calls her "Dashie." She's also been called, by childhood bullies, "Rainbow Crash."
    • Apple Bloom has been called "AB."
    • Sweetie Belle's name is shortened to just "Sweetie" sometimes.
    • Pinkie Pie is usually just "Pinkie" but has also been called "Pinks."
    • Twilight Sparkle is almost always just called "Twilight," or sometimes "Twi." "Twily" is a nickname given to her by her brother; she, in turn, sometimes calls him "B.B.B.F.F."
    • Big Macintosh is sometimes called "Big Mac."
    • Scootaloo is sometimes called "Scoot" or "Squirt."
    • The new colt Pipsqueak is sometimes "Pip."
    • Cadance's full name is "Mi Amore Cadenza," so she's more often called by her nickname.
  • When Gus of The Owl House is introduced in "I Was a Teenage Abomination", he initially goes by his full name of Augustus. Upon meeting him, Luz tells him she knew an Augustus in the Human Realm who went by Gus. As someone Intrigued by Humanity, Augustus very quickly adopts the human nickname Gus and goes by it for the rest of the series.
  • Skipper from The Penguins of Madagascar calls King Julien "Ringtail" and Mort "Sad-eyes".
  • Rahan: Rahan is called "Fire haired one" by both Wolf Clan and Cave-Dwellers due to being the only one with yellow hair in the valley.
  • In Ready Jet Go!, Sean has "Sean-zo", an Affectionate Nickname coined by Jet in season 2.
  • Recess:
    • The gang sometimes refer to Gretchen as "Gretch" and Spinelli as "Spin".
    • T.J. always goes by his nickname (his full name is Theodore Jasper Detweiler), but even his nickname has a nickname: he's often referred to as "Teej".
  • In Regular Show, Mordecai gets "Mordy" or "Mordo", Rigby "Rigs", Benson gets called "Benny" a few times and got nicknamed "Bens" once, and High Five Ghost's name gets abbreviated to "Fives".
  • Colleen from Road Rovers calls Hunter "Hunty-wunty" and gives Blitz various silly nicknames like "Chester Chubbycheeks" and "Stuffington Fluffypants" ("Fluffy" for short).
  • Rocko's Modern Life: Rocko, Heffer and Filburt often refer to the other as "Rock", "Hef" and "Fil".
  • Rosie's Rules: Rosie is a nickname for "Rosalía." Only Tia Margarita and Beatriz (Abuela) use her full name.
  • "Danger-Prone Daphne" of Scooby-Doo.
  • Doc Krueger is known as "Tin Man" in Space Rangers (1993) due to his extensive cybernetics.
  • In SpongeBob SquarePants, SpongeBob gets called "Spongy" a few times, Patrick "Pat", and Squidward Tentacles' name gets abbreviated to "Squid" or "Squiddy".
    • SpongeBob often affectionately calls Gary "Gare-Bear".
    • In the German dub, Squidward's name is Thaddäus Tentakel, but everyone abbreviates it to "Thaddel", even Thaddäus himself. At one point Squilliam (Siegbert) mockingly calls him "Thaddelchen" (Liebchen Thaddäus Tentakel).
  • In StarCom: The U.S. Space Force, all three of the main characters have nicknames. Paul Corbin's nickname is "Crowbar", James Derringer's is "Dash", and John Griffin's is "Slim".
  • In Star Wars: The Clone Wars Anakin frequently calls his padawan Ahsoka Tano, "Snips," at first rather derisively, but later on more affectionately.
    • Ahsoka counters with "Sky-guy."
  • Steven Universe:
    • Greg Universe sometimes calls his son "Schtu-Ball".
    • Amethyst refers to Pearl as "P", Garnet as "The G-Squad", Steven as "Little Man", and Peridot as "Peri", "Nerd", and "Wondernerd".
    • Almost every non-Crystal Gem Gem is given a nickname to distinguish them from the Crystal Gems. Examples include the Ruby Squad, who are generally known by the nicknames Steven gives them (which mostly refer to their Gem placement): Army, Leggy, Navy, Eyeball and Doc, and Pink Diamond's old Pearl, who is nicknamed Volleyball.
  • In TaleSpin, Baloo almost always refers to his sidekick Kit as "Little Britches."
  • Outside of the 87 cartoon, no one refers to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by their full names. Leonardo is "Leo", Raphael is "Raph", Donatello is "Donnie", and Michelangelo is "Mikey".
  • In Unikitty!, Richard is often called simply "Rick" or "Rich" instead.
  • Wander over Yonder:
    • Sylvia is often called "Syl" or "Sylvie" by Wander.
    • Likewise, Lord Hater is often usually called "Hater" or "Hatey" and Peepers is referred to as "Mr. Peepers" by Wander. Peepers is also called "C-Peeps" a few times.
    • The cat bounty hunter is called "Little Bits" by Wander, and assumed the identity of "Baby Cakes" in a later episode. Her real name is unknown.
    • Wander himself is revealed to be this in Season 2; in fact, he also went by a similar nickname, Tumbleweed, prior to meeting Sylvia. When confronting Lord Dominator, he seems to say "that's not my name" when talking about himself, but he quickly changes the subject last-second.
  • X-Men: Evolution:
    • Kurt refers to himself as "Fuzzy Blue Elf"; others adapted to this and also developed deviations such as "Blue Boy" and "The Fuzzy One."
    • Also from X-Men Evolution are Chuck (Professor-X), Cyke (Cyclops), Red (Jean Grey), Elf (Nightcrawler), Half-pint (Shadowcat), and Porcupine (Spyke).
  • The superheroes in Young Justice (2010): Both Robins are called "Rob" or "Boy Wonder," Zatanna is "Zee," Miss Martian is "Miss M.," Kid Flash is called "K.F." by Dick and "Kid" by his uncle and Aqualad. Sportsmaster calls Cheshire "little girl" and Artemis "baby girl."
