Hilarious In Hindsight / Kamen Rider Gaim

Go To

  • During its run, Puella Magi Madoka Magica had concepts and characters that were often compared to Kamen Rider Ryuki and vice versa with Kamen Rider Wizard. Gen Urobuchi is writing this series. Perhaps Toei approved...
    • In addition, Gen was famous for writing a show that only looks like a children's show, and now he's writing an actual children's show.
  • The original Kamen Rider is usually called Kamen Rider Ichigo, so that people can differentiate him from Kamen Rider Nigo. Here, a powerup called "Strawberry Arms" exist. Strawberry in Japanese is 'ichigo'note .
    • Maybe we'll have another one if Gaim in Strawberry Arms vs Zangetsu, making Bleach fans love this possibility.
    • Then it got more hilarious considering that Gaim got the Kamen Rider Ichigou's lockseed in the Showa vs. Heisei movie.
  • The last Second Rider to not have a debut in a movie was also named Kaito.
  • For that matter, Morning Rescue, an orange juice, was associated with Madoka due to the ad airing alongside the series. Now, Urobuchi IS doing an orange-themed Rider...
    • At the same time that this show was airing, the season premiere of a well-known show had the plot of its own forest invading the normal world. Soon after that, Helheim starts its own invasion.
  • It just so happens that, while Kamen Rider has the lock in 2013, Power Rangers has the key.
  • Fans are wondering what will happen if Zangetsu (a melon rider) meet a melon-loving Mamodo that even has a song and dance for his favourite fruit.
  • This has apparently been going on for a few years now.
  • Speaking of giant zippers, the last time Sid's actor was in a Kamen Rider show, he was a victim of the week... and during the second part of his two-parter, the Denliner travels back in time... and one piece of graffiti present was a giant zipper as well.
  • Before the show debuted, we heard that Zangetsu would be playing a similar role to Ouja. Well, now we see that Takatora, the primary Zangetsu user, is a nice guy while his brother, using Zangetsu's identity, is out to murder Kouta.
  • Hase may have gotten the connections to Tomoe Mami, but there's one thing his killer took from him. All the jokes made related to a Cruel and Unusual Death.
  • In #11, Sid has a brief monologue about how kids just want power and how no adult would ever dive into that danger. Twenty episodes later and he's diving into said danger... and paying the ultimate price.
  • With all the talk of Puella Magi Madoka Magica elements sneaking into Gaim, it should come as no surprise that Madoka's eventual fate actually becomes a plot point. But not for Kota as expected. It's Mai. Though still played straight when Kouta wins the Forbidden Fruit and ascends to godhood, albeit as a Physical God, complete with his taking a third option in defiance of the Kyubey expy's expectations. The other difference, though, is that Sagara, after getting over his disbelief and disappointment, shows his support and accepts his defeat.
  • People have compared the basic plot of Game of Thrones to Kamen Rider Gaim, and now they can have a chuckle knowing that both share the following trait: one of the most gruesome deaths in the show involves someone getting crushed by a mountain.
  • It's common practice for fans to make expanded arsenal for a Rider, with here being Lockseeds going past #13 (Kiwi, the last of the canonical numbered regular Lockseeds). In the Kamen Rider Duke Gaiden movie, Duke uses a regular Lemon Lockseed, which has a Lockseed number of 99! That means there are at least 100 variations of Lockseeds, and those are just the normal ones!
  • Despite being a rider, Takatora never used a Rider Kick in the series, despite officially having one. The next time he would play an older brother, he used a rider kick.
  • Hōchū Ōtsuka, the narrator of this series, voiced a character in the mecha anime Heavy Metal L-Gaim.
  • The comparisons to the Sengoku Period become this when the next series casts someone who's descended from Akechi Mitsuhide, one of the more (in)famous warlords from said period.
  • The fact that Kaito's actor auditioned for Captain Marvelous becomes this when an actor who played Kamen Rider Proto Baron ends up playing Zocks, the Gokaiger-themed Twokaizer.
  • This one overlaps with Harsher in Hindsight: Oren is a Japanese man who moved to France to develop his cake-baking skills. In 2022, Kaito's actor, Yutaka Kobayashi, would also move from Japan to France to open up a cake-making business, however this was after his Role-Ending Misdemeanor due to theft, and he couldn't act anymore because he was fired from his agency. That being said, he was at least allowed to reprise his role as Kaito for the 10th Anniversary Genesis Driver.
