In attempt at helping Nunnally branch out, Milly takes her alongside an all-girls outing with their friends. This outing turns out worse then expected when terrorists decide to hold their group hostage. Within this group is Nunnally's half-sister, Princess Euphemia.
Of Monsters and Men
is a twist on the Hostage Situation in episode 8 of Code Geass. It starts with Nunnally going along on the trip and reuniting with Euphemia.
Not to be confused with the band Of Monsters and Men.
This fic provides examples of:
- Dead Fic: It hasn't been updated since 2009.
- Death by Adaptation: Kallen's mother dies of Refrain overdose.
- Defector from Decadence: Euphemia joins the Black Knights.
- Disabled in the Adaptation: Nunnally is genuinely blind. In the anime, her eyes are simply forced shut and that's the only reason she can't see. Here, she's blind but keeps her Eyes Always Shut by personal choice.
- Disabled Means Helpless: Milly takes Nunnally out with her precisely to try and avert this. Nunnally is fourteen but is coddled and treated like a little kid, so Milly wants to help her mature more. Nunnally needs some more help than most, but she's also able to live independently and be her own person nevertheless.
- Embarrassing Nickname: Cornelia hated it when Nunnally called her "Big Sister Corny". Nunnally didn't know what "corny" meant at the time. Lelouch did and encouraged its use.
- Hostage Situation: The fic starts with terrorists taking a building hostage.
- Living Emotional Crutch: Nunnally notes that she's the only one keeping Lelouch together. If she died, he'd go on a full-on rampage against Britannia.
- Matricide: Kallen's Wicked Stepmother accuses her of killing her own mother. In reality, Kallen found her mom already dead.
- Never Gets Fat: As it says on the trope page, C.C. still retains her figure even though she eats all the time.Lelouch: How is it you manage not to get fat, if all you ever eat is pizza? I never see you do anything more strenuous than walk across campus, and you only do that to annoy me between classes.C.C.: Pizza is brain food. If you ate more pizza, you'd know that, as well as how I stay in shape.
- Sibling Triangle: Nunnally and Euphemia are both in love with Suzaku.
- Sibling Murder: Years ago, Cornelia was given an order by a Geass user to kill anyone who resembled Nunnally. This was triggered upon the sister's reuniting.
- What If?: Nunnally is amongst the hostages in episode 8. This leads her to reunite with Euphemia early in the series.
