Confusing characters for each other, particularly cross-generation. Confusing Glory (Gen. 1) for Rarity (Gen. 4) is a bad idea.
My Little Pony Tales is not Generation 2, it's just the second Generation 1 cartoon.
There has never been a Generation 2 cartoon at all (though it did have a game and some European comics). If you find a VHS tape with a G2-style inlay, it's actually repackaged G1.
The show is not a new installment of My Little Pony 'n Friends from 1986 or any other G1 or G3 show. Friendship is Magic rebooted the whole franchise entirely from the ground up, save for character names.
Don't even think about referring to Spike the dragon as Twilight's pet. Not only is he Twilight's assistant and friend, but Twilight also has an actual pet (an owl named Owlowiscious).
Don’t assume that Rainbow Dash is a lesbian just because of her rainbow hair. Especially considering that No Hugging, No Kissing is in effect for the Mane Characters. Not to mention that Lauren Faust herself said that Rainbow Dash is not a lesbian. One reporter, in an attempt to discredit the show around its premiere, learned this the hard way.note Ironically, "The Last Problem" implies she and Applejack eventually become a couple, though Word of God is that fans can interpret the scene as they wish, which would mean that either Lauren's statement was overruled or Rainbow Dash is bisexual. Even before that, a lot of bronies didn't mind pairing Rainbow with girls. The issues arise when people insist that Rainbow is canonically gay just because of her rainbow mane or her jock attitude.
Outside the fandom, especially by mainstream media, bronies are usually defined as "grown-up men who like My Little Pony". This is completely and utterly wrong. For one: Bronies are not generally fans of My Little Pony. They are only fans of the animated series My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. In fact, some of them loathe or are indifferent to all other generations, sometimes including G4 spinoffs such as My Little Pony: Equestria Girls and especially My Little Pony: Pony Life.
Also, bronies are not all "grown-up men". One out of seven bronies is female, including a large number of Fandom VIPs. Although the term "pegasisters" exists, "brony" is considered gender-neutral. More than a few bronies are transgender or otherwise genderqueer. And there are enough underage bronies that this regularly becomes a problem for meet-ups and conventions.
