Power Rangers fans have several pairings they prefer over the canon ones, from both newer, and older seasons.
TV Shows
- Tommy and Kimberly from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, who were a fan favorite and the Official Couple at one point. Later on when Kimberly retired from the Rangers, she picked Katherine/Kat as her replacement. Tommy and Kimberly later ended (by letter, much to the irritation of the fans). Then Kat and Tommy got together and were even shown to be married in the future. A lot of fans hated this, and loudly sounded their preference for Tommy/Kimberly. There are those who like to think she either hooked up with Jason for a time before and after the Turbo movie, or ultimately reciprocated Eugene 'Skull' Skullovitch's crush on her (something even official sources such as the Boom! Studios comic book line hinted was plausible), and eventually giving birth to his son Spike (from Power Rangers Samurai).
- Power Rangers Zeo: Fans prefer to pair Jason with a fellow Power Ranger such as Kat, Kimberly, Trini or Tommy as opposed to a civilian, like his canon love interest Emily.
- In Power Rangers: Dino Thunder, Kira/Trent is canon, but Kira/Conner is more popular than it.
- Power Rangers S.P.D.: By the end of the season Jack is in a relationship with Ally, however most most fans prefer to pair him with his Platonic Life-Partner, Z. Mostly due to their close friendship after having grown up together on the streets, and feeling they have better chemistry.
- Power Rangers Samurai: The series gives Ship Tease to Jayden/Mia, and to Lauren/Antonio. However the fans have a tendency to reverse these. Jayden and Antonio's close childhood friendship has catapulted them to one of the premier male/male ships of the franchise (only eclipsed by Chiley a few years later). Meanwhile, Lauren and Mia are most frequently shipped with each other — they have a quick connection thanks to Mia being kind to Lauren from the beginning and Lauren being one of the few people who likes Mia's cooking.
- Power Rangers Megaforce: Gia enters a relationship with Jake at the end of the show. You wouldn't think so due all the fanfiction pairing her with Emma. This is due to the fact that they are best friends, have what many people consider better chemistry that yields a large amount of Les Yay. The most cited episode is "United We Stand", where a spell that's supposed to end their friendship has them come off more like a bickering couple. Gia's actress even made a passing joke about Emma being Gia's personal cheerleader. On Archive of Our Own they have 6 times as many fanfictions about them as Gia and Jake.
- Power Rangers Dino Charge has Chiley (Chase/Riley). Chase ended the series in a relationship with Kaylee, and while she isn't disliked by the season's fans, most people prefer Chase with Riley because they have consistent chemistry throughout the season.
- Power Rangers Dino Fury has Amelia/Ollie as a canon romance, but because Ollie spent most of the first season and part of the second ridiculing Amelia's fascination with the supernatural, fans paired her up with Javi.
Other Media
- Power Rangers (2017) has a borderline case. Within the film itself, Jason and Kimberly are just friends, though Jason does show some interest in Kimberly early on. The tie-in comic has Ship Tease between them, a holdover from when they were planned to be love interests in the film. Within the fandom, Jason's most popular ship is with Billy and Kimberly's with Trini, due to the film giving quite a bit of focus and bonding moments to these relationships.
