Flub's Best Friend
is a Fix Fic of Family Dog that crosses over with The Brothers Flub, featuring Fraz Flub and the titular character of Family Dog (which Fraz renames Jonah). It's an extension of Toons Of A Feather/Bread Flubs, meaning it includes characters from Bread Winners and Sanjay and Craig.
Flub's Best Friend Provides Examples Of:
- Annoying Younger Sibling: Fraz was mad at Guapo and they were apart for a while. But when Fraz sees him again he tearfully hugs him, saying he's happy to see him.
- Bad People Abuse Animals: The Binsfords are implied to leave Jonah out of the house during a storm. Bev admits she only adopted him to distract the kids.
- Break the Cutie: Because of his family, Jonah turns from loyal to his family to outright hating humans.
- Dramatic Irony: The audience knows Jonah didn't run away, but Fraz doesn't. Fraz went to look for him and Jonah thought he was running away.
- Expressive Ears: Jonah's ears shrink when Fraz scolds him for almost attacking Sanjay.
- Fantastic Racism: Jonah learned to especially despise human beings thanks to his owners, he is scared of and angry at Sanjay due to his human features. Justified since he was not only abused by humans he is also a non sapient dog, so he doesn't know better.
- Humans Are the Real Monsters: Jonah develops a hatred towards humans after how the Binsfords have treated him. He hates Sanjay just for being one despite him acting friendly and kind. Craig explains to the others, being an animal who knows humans, that some humans can be the most evil creatures of all.
- Missed Him by That Much: Fraz goes looking for Jonah but he doesn't notice him peeing in a bush.
- Never Given a Name: Before Jonah met Fraz, like in canon, his family never bothered to give him a name.
- Not Now, We're Too Busy Crying Over You: Fraz brushes off Jonah when he barks saying he was too busy worrying about him. But quickly realizes it's him.
- Papa Wolf: Fraz towards Jonah. He threatens to call the authorities on Skip and Bev if they come near Jonah again.
- Potty Dance: Jonah briefly does this before he asks Fraz to let him out.
- Puppy-Dog Eyes: Jonah gives Fraz literal puppy eyes after he tells him off for ruining his pages.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Fraz gives one to the Binsfords for mistreating Jonah.
- Shrinking Violet: At first Jonah is shy and untrusting towards Fraz, since he feels he can't trust anyone.
- Tears of Remorse: Fraz when he finds out Jonah supposedly ran away.
- Tropey, Come Home: Zigzagged. Fraz thought Jonah ran away after he yelled at him for eating his book, but he was just going to the bathroom. Then Jonah thinks Fraz ran away when he went looking for him so he looked for him as well.
- Uncatty Resemblance: Fraz and Jonah's similar faces and the fact both are Butt Monkeys is why they were paired together in this story.
- Was Too Hard on Him: Fraz thought Jonah left home and felt horrible for yelling at him for ruining his book.
- Written-In Absence: Guapo is nowhere to be seen in this story, only mentioned to be missing.
