Ensemble Darkhorse / The Owl House

Go To

The Owl House is chock full of lovable characters for everyone to enjoy, no matter how much screentime or plot relevance they have. The ones that stand out among the crowd are:

  • The delinquent trio from "The First Day" are rather popular with the fanbase. Viney in particular has a cult following and a good number of fans find Barcus to be rather cute. Dana Terrace, herself, was surprised by how popular the three of them became and hinted in her AMA that they might show up again, at some point. Sure enough they return in Season 2, making sporadic appearances.
  • Skara, a member of Amity's clique, doesn't appear or speak as much as Amity or Boscha, but she gets a lot of love for her adorable design and her kindness compared to her friends. It also helps that she isn't as mean as Boscha and that she indulges in other interests, she even gets along with Willow when she starts up a Flyer Derby team.
  • Steve, the coven guard accompanying Lilith in "Senses And Insensitivity", has earned a small following for his passionate and adorable personality. His appearances in Season 2 also have reinforced this status on him with his legitimately niceness to the main cast, hidden disdain for his job and genuine friendship with Lilith that persists even after she leaves the Coven. Eventually, he defects from the Emperor's Coven and joins the rebellion.
  • "Beta Luz", an early concept design for Luz as older and rougher, with a beanie, an army jacket, and baseball bat. And, to a lesser extent, "Beta Amity", who is older, has longer hair, and wears pink, and other beta designs of characters like Eda and Willow. Despite never appearing on the show, the fandom fell in love with them and quickly starting making fanart of them, redoing show scenes with the beta designs, or casting Beta Luz as Luz's tough but loving older sister. Like the trio Dana was surprised at how popular the designs are and mentions interest in exploring them down the line.
  • Alador Blight has quickly developed a fan base for being a scruffy, dorky Absent-Minded Professor who seems about as irritated with his wife as the fandom itself. It helps that there are plenty of layers to him too, he isn't just the "good" parent and with the episode "Reaching Out", we get a bit more of how he is and how he used to be with a couple extra quirks in between his primary characterization, mainly his rivalry with Darius. The sheer amount of interpretations makes Alador fascinating to analyze and the fact that he's taking steps to improve his relationship with Amity endears him more. His Character Development from "Reaching Out" finally hits its stride in "Clouds on the Horizon" when refuses to go along with Odalia's plans after a heart to heart with King of all people.
  • The BATTs are popular, especially Amber (outside of Katya, the fanfic prisoner from the pilot who already is pretty popular) due to her cute appearance and voice and how quickly she calls Eda mama despite earlier saying "You're not our mom!"
  • Terra Snapdragon and Adrien Graye are liked for being pretty hilarious and genuinely threatening at the same time.
  • The girl who does a backflip at cheerleader tryouts in the first episode became surprisingly popular, due to her blond hair with a single pink streak causing comparisons with Amity, which ultimately led to her being a popular shipping candidate with Vee after her true nature was revealed in Season 2's midseason finale.
  • Creepy Luz, aka Vee gained a lot of popularity when it was revealed that she was a mistreated science experiment who impersonated Luz because she wanted a loving home. She instantly went from "potential villain" to "precious cinnamon bun that must be protected at all costs", with a Fandom-Specific Plot being that the Noceda family consider her to be Luz's sister for real loved as an adorable woobie who is trapped in a strange world, finds a mother figure in Camila and makes her first friends during her time in the camp.
  • The three kids in the Human Realm that Vee met at Camp Reality Check have been getting a bit more traction than their meagre presence in the show so far would imply. Numerous fans have assumed that they'd be a circle of friends to Vee and know her true identity as a basilisk.
  • While both Darius and Eberwolf were already immensely popular when they first appeared despite being antagonists, with the reveal of "O Titan, Where Art Thou" that they were good all along and allies of Raine, their popularity increased even further, especially with Darius due to being a father figure to Hunter.
  • Following "Hollow Mind" Caleb Wittebane, Philip's brother exploded in popularity despite being unnamed upon his debut and not having a speaking role. This is mainly due to the intricate and tragic backstory that plays out completely in the background portraits in Belos's Mindscape, depicting him as a good person who fell in love with a witch only to be tragically murdered by his beloved younger brother, Philip, over the latter's anti-witch bigotry. His popularity is also heightened due to being the precursor to fan-favorite Hunter and the implication that no matter how many times Philip tries to recreate him as a Grimwalker, his morals can't be corrupted.
