Dummied Out / Action Games

  • Godzilla: Monster of Monsters! had at least two monsters dummied out, with the only remnants of them being a playable but glitchy Anguirus and a barely "playable" Rodan being present in the Japanese version: Anguirus can at least go into levels albeit missing animations and capable of crashing the game, while Rodan will just outright "skip" levels if you attempt to play them. There was also likely at least one extra monster meant to be present, if Neptune not introducing a new enemy like every other world in the game is anything to go by. There's also an unused eerie music track.
  • In the first Little Big Adventure game, there is a large stationary bipedal robot standing in a garage on Citadel Island. According to the developers, it was supposed to be active, but was cut out of the game.
  • The first Nightmare Creatures have the Thames monsters, giant tentacled heads on stalks sticking out of waters that lashes at you from a distance, and you don't see what's underneath the surface (since you drown the literal second you fall into water). Unless you use a cheat that allows you to walk freely underwater, at which point you find out the Thames monster is just a gigantic stalk extending all the way below a riverbed.
  • Rampage in its Sega Master System port has a really weird example. The entire game has an alternate soundtrack that makes use of the console's FM chip add-on to provide better music and sounds. Only Japanese Master Systems have built-in support for the FM chip... but this port was never released in Japan.
  • Playing Zombies Ate My Neighbors on an emulator, you can remove the background to reveal that the hidden-behind-the-scenes and super-rare Flamethrower is in fact a can of green paint. No one knows what the paint item was originally to be used for.
