    Generation 1
  • Danny in "The Great Rainbow Caper", after a fly on Surprise.
Surpise *laughs* That was the best landing we've had yet!
Danny: Yeah! Well, I still think I'll make you a saddle with seat belts!
  • Magic Star, in "The Glass Princess":
Megan: Sorry. Danny is feeling a little rambunctious today.
Magic Star: Today?
  • Spike in "The Magic Coins":
Heart Throb: Spike, I think these hedge animals are alive!
Spike: Of course they're alive, Heart Throb. They're plants!
    Generation 3
  • Pinkie Pie has her snarky moments.
Rainbow Dash: Is she in danger, darling?
Pinkie Pie: She's Minty, isn't she?
  • In "The Princess Promenade, a dragon's brain is still revving up after being awakened from an enchanted sleep:
Spike: That's it! Spike! Spikes, spikes, spikes! I'm Spike!
Pinkie Pie: I guess when you've been asleep for a thousand years you think others don't hear you.
    • Later, Pinkie asks Zipzee about her pinkest-of-all-pink floats:
Pinkie Pie: Whaddaya think? Have I captured it?
Zipzee: Yes, and you might consider setting it free.
    Generation 4
  • My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic: A great many characters do this, but in particular, Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, and Spike are each known for snarky moments, but Twilight Sparkle applies especially well.
Twilight: Now tell me, what exactly have you actually seen Zecora do?
Rainbow Dash: Well, once a month she comes into Ponyville.
    Twilight: Ooh!
Rarity: Then, she lurks by the stores.
    Twilight: Oh, my!
Fluttershy: And then... she digs at the ground...
    Twilight: Good gracious!
    • As mentioned above, Rainbow certainly has her fair share. After Derpy somehow destroys the roof of the Town Hall:
Derpy: (jumping up and down on a storm cloud) I just don't know what went wrong! (electrocutes herself)
      Rainbow: Yeah. It's a mystery.
    • Another time, the team has to climb to the top of a mountain. After talking about how cold it will get up there, Rarity produces a scarf.
Rainbow: Yeah, that'll keep you nice and cozy.
    • Scootaloo takes after her idol by filling this role for the Cutie Mark Crusaders, despite being the most rash and impulsive of them.
Applejack: (giving the Crusaders her old, crumbling clubhouse) It just... needs a little, uh... TLC.
Scootaloo: TLC as in "tender loving care," or "totally lost cause?"
    • Apple Bloom gives these moments just as well, such as when the Crusaders fail to build a table, and in response to the coughing of a plant she grew
"Somepony needs to put this thing out of its misery."
"Layin' it on a little thick there, aren't we, pal?"
    • This trope is essentially Discord's default disposition. Notable in that despite being one of the single most sarcastic characters in the series, he's also incredibly over the top at the same time.
Discord (when Twilight asks him how he knows about Celestia's plan of reforming him)"Being turned into stone doesn't keep me from hearing every word Celestia says... although I admit it makes roling my eyes a challenge." (plucks his eyes and tosses them rolling on the glass, making them fall into two holes that turn into his face)
    • Maud Pie is this ALL THE TIME, and makes the occasional snark. ...Except at the end of her episode named after her. And even then she's quite deadpan.
Discord (after completely failing to make a crowd laugh with stand up comedy): "That was the most basic of jokes!"
Maud (completely deadpan): "You're the most basic of jokes." (crowd erupts in laughter)
    • It apparently runs in the family, since even Maud's sister Pinkie Pie can be very sarcastic when she wants to — as evidenced by this gem:
Twilight Sparkle: Who better [than Rainbow Dash and Applejack] to model the importance of working as a team?
Pinkie Pie: Um... Rarity, Fluttershy, me, Spike, this flower pot...
    • Sunset Shimmer is as sarcastic as one of the good guys as she was as a major villain, and turns her tongue on herself as readily as anyone else.
    • Heck, even Fluttershy has her moments. Especially if her brother's in the picture.
Zephyr: It's all so political, I could just not take it!
Fluttershy: Well, maybe if you stuck with it for more than a few weeks...
    • Starlight Glimmer dishes out enough snark to rival Twilight (a lot of times to Twilight), especially when she's around Trixie, and like Sunset, no shortage of it is directed at herself considering she was once a major villain and is working to atone.
    • Human Rarity gets some snark in during the climax of Friendship Games, when Rainbow Dash gives her some less-than-helpful advice as she's clinging on to the edge of a tear in reality.
      Rainbow Dash: Hang on!
      Rarity: Obviously!
    • Sometimes someone answer snark with snark like the following.
Spike: What is [Pinkie Pie] doing now?
      Twilight: Smelling a flower.
Spike: Holy guacamole! I wonder what that means?
Twilight: Probably that the flower smells good.
