And that's just the start of it.
This franchise being what it is there's been no shortage of gruesome deaths on any of the three shows. However, some examples really stand out.
The Walking Dead
- The "bicycle walker" had so much of her eaten that there's barely half of her torso left.
- Dale is unable to wrestle a walker off of him, and it rips open his stomach and guts. He's left writhing until someone can bring themselves to put him out of his misery.
- T-Dog is bitten on the neck when the prison is invaded by walkers, and later sacrifices himself to save Carol by allowing himself to be horribly torn apart and eaten by walkers. When Rick finds his corpse, there's so little left of him that the only way he was recognized was by his tattered clothes.
- In the same episode as T-Dog's death, Lori orders Maggie to give her a C-section without anesthetic, and once Judith is born, Carl puts her down. Post-mortem, her body is completely eaten by a walker, who Rick finds bloated and dazed.
- Milton gets tortured by the Governor for an unknown amount of time, and when he tries to fight back, he's gutted and left to bleed out and turn.
- Zach saves Bob from being eaten... only to be bitten on the leg and get eaten himself from the leg-up. A fallen helicopter on the roof breaks through and crushes him for good measure.
- Anyone who is captured by Terminus is gassed, bent over a pig trough, has their head beat in with an aluminum bat, and then gets their throats slit so they can bleed out. And then they're carved up to be eaten.
- One unfortunate Terminus Mook is eaten alive face first by a walker that's on fire.
- The Hunters are bloodily hacked to pieces by Rick's group in retaliation for previously capturing them and eating Bob's leg, but they're definitely Asshole Victim's.
- Aiden is impaled in several chunks of metal after accidentally setting off a grenade. He orders the others to leave him, and he dies a slow, horrible death when the walkers eat him, and he gets to watch them rip out and eat his innards.
- Later in the same episode as Aiden's death, Noah (pictured above) is pinned against the glass of a revolving door, and gets torn apart in front of Glenn from behind. We get to see the walkers ripping his face to shreds and eating through his shoulders.
- Savior Paula is impaled on a metal bar by Carol and gets her parts of her face bitten off by walkers while she's still alive, before she finally succumbs to her wounds.
- Glenn. Negan really draws out his beating with Lucille, giving us a good look at Glenn's bloody face and his eye popping out, mimicking an infamous panel from the comics. Negan then keeps beating his head to a bloody pulp long after he is clearly dead. The same thing happened to Abraham minutes earlier, just without the eye-popping.
- Dr. Emmett Carson is thrown into the Sanctuary furnace face-first by Negan and gets the upper-half of his body incinerated.
- Creepy Savior Gunther gets bisected by Jerry with his axe.
- In "Honor", an unarmed Morgan is being beaten down by a Savior who had just been shot in the gut. Out of options, Morgan shoves his hand inside the bullet wound and rips out the Savior's intestines, killing him instantly. Everyone else's Oh, Crap! expressions say it all.
- Ken suffers one in "A New Beginning" just for trying to save a horse from approaching walkers. Not only is he bit, but the horse he's trying to save kicks him in the chest. He dies in minutes, bleeding viciously.
- The victims of Alpha's massacre (Ozzy, Alek, DJ, Frankie, Tammy Rose, Rodney, Addy, Enid, Tara and Henry). They're lined up and beheaded one by one, then have their heads stuck on pikes for Daryl and the others to see.
- One member of Hilltop's militia, in the aftermath of the Battle of Hilltop, has been severely torn apart by walkers and one of his arms is reduced to a frayed stump. He's barely choking for life, and it's no wonder Negan puts him out of his misery (not that the insane Alpha approves).
- Beatrice is the only heroic casualty of the survivors who journey into the Whisperer horde, and she doesn't go out cleanly. She gets stabbed in the Achilles by a Whisperer, and her distress quickly sets the horde on her. She's dragged down out of sight, and by the time we do see her again, her leg is being split open like a wing flat by the starving horde.
Fear the Walking Dead
- Dakota. She may have been a cold-hearted Creepy Child who killed John Dorie, but being shredded down to the bone by a nuclear explosion is not a pretty way to go. We even see her charred remains after the fact, and even though it's a fitting end for such a loathsome character, the sight is disturbing enough to linger in the viewer's mind for quite a while.
- Will in the Season 7 premiere is thrown off a several-stories-high building by Strand and looks as good as you'd expect. His torso has ruptured and his organs are leaking out of him, his eyeball is dislodged from his skull, and the half of his face that hit the ground is reduced to ground beef.
- Charlie is afflicted with radiation poisoning and given a terminal diagnosis by June and Grace. Within days, she loses her hair and becomes deathly pale and is clearly suffering the entire time. John Sr. also is doomed to this fate when he also gets radiation burns despite trying to be careful, though he gets a somewhat more merciful death when he sacrifices himself to Strand's walker moat - but it's still no less saddening to watch him wince and contort in agony as he's repeatedly bitten and finally toppled over to be feasted on.
