PopCap Games is an American game design company, specializing in the Casual Video Game market. Their games tend to be characterized by lush two-dimensional graphics, one-click mouse control, electronically produced music and low hardware requirements. Their releases may be played online or downloaded in enhanced versions for a trial, with the full version unlocked through the payment of a fee. Before breaking into the casual market, PopCap was known as Sexy Action Cool and dealt primarily in contract work, making games for other websites, their first title being a Strip Poker game called "Foxy Poker".

And their addictive properties. Especially to those who don't usually play computer games.

Their first major successful game was 2001's Bejeweled, the best-known example of the Match-Three Game genre until the rise of Candy Crush Saga and one of the first and best-known games to majorly capitalize on online distribution and sales.

In mid-2011, the company was purchased by Electronic Arts, putting the future of some past deals with EA's rivals (namely Activision with its World of Warcraft edition of Peggle, and the Plants vs. Zombies parody minigame in WoW itself) into doubt. In August 2012, the company laid off 50 people from its North American branches, mostly from its Seattle headquarters. Amongst those laid off is George Fan, creator of two of its games Insaniquarium and Plants vs. Zombies.

Shortly before the acquisition by EA, PopCap launched the 4th & Battery label, in which they intend to launch experimental games on. So far, the label has three games under its umbrella.
