Tammy was a weekly British comic for girls published by Fleetway in London from 1971 to 1984. While there were similarities with its Fleetway stablemates Jinty and Misty, each comic had its own focus, with Tammy concentrating on sadder Cinderella-themed stories and dark tales of tortured heroines.
As with most Fleetway publications, the title is currently owned by Rebellion, who used it for the Tammy & Jinty Summer Special in 2019 and 2020. The two specials were collected as Tammy & Jinty: Remixed in 2021.
Has nothing to do with the 2014 Melissa McCarthy film.
This comic (and its strips) provide examples of:
- Action Girl: This IS a girl's comic, after all.
- Always Identical Twins: Played with - while several stories involve identical twins, a few stories have non-identical twins.
- Bad People Abuse Animals: Rott and his daughter Linda, the antagonists of "Olympia Jones" mistreat and abuse Linda's horse.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: The Rival usually had this sort of personality. Sometimes, the heroine was the "supposedly sweet but really poisonous" one.
- Blackmail: Several stories revolved around the heroine or someone close to them being blackmailed.
- Boarding School: Some of their stories were set in one.
- Boarding School of Horrors: Some of the stories took place in one.
- Break the Haughty: The fate of any Spoiled Brat heroines.
- Conveniently an Orphan: Played with - sometimes being an orphan is a good thing in the stories, sometimes it's a bad thing.
- Disguised in Drag: The story "Cuckoo in the Nest", which was unique in girl's comics in that the main character was a boy who had to pose as a girl.
- "Freaky Friday" Flip: "I'm Her - She's Me!", where a Nice Girl and a Delinquent swap bodies.
- Gender-Blender Name: Leslie of "Cuckoo in the Nest", which lead his aunt to think he was a girl named "Lesley", and forced him to cross-dress.
- Green-Eyed Monster: Lesley Ross of "Star Struck Sister" is jealous of her sister Stella because Stella is playing the lead role in the movie they are making.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: The titular character of "Temper, Temper, Tina!" had one.
- Happily Adopted: Several of the heroines.
- Helicopter Parents: Pamela of "Namby Pamby" suffers from this, which leads to problems when she is sent away to school and must fend for herself.
- Identical Stranger: If the heroine wasn't one, she would have to expose one.
- I Will Find You: The concept behind "Glen, A Lonely Dog on a Quest".
- Kid from the Future: Julie of "Thursday's Child".
- Laser-Guided Karma: "The Clock and Cluny Jones" - Cluny is a bully, until she inherits a grandfather clock which throws her into a harsh parallel world, where she's the victim, her kind-hearted aunt is a tyrant, and she is the "swot" of the school.
- Left Hanging: Cora Can't Lose- due to the penultimate episode appearing in the last ever issue of Tammy, we never DO learn if Cora survives her head injury.
- Missing Mom / Disappeared Dad: Several heroines suffered from this, if it wasn't complete Parental Abandonment.
- Mysterious Protector: Mad Emma of "Slaves of War Orphan Farm".
- No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: "Sweet and Sour Charity".

- Orphanage of Fear: Quite a few stories were set in one.
- Parental Favoritism: Whenever this trope appeared, the heroine was always The Unfavorite.
- Parent with New Paramour: Several stories involve the heroine having to get used to their parent either dating or remarrying.
- Pony Tale: Many of the stories were focused on this trope.
- Princess Protagonist: Many heroines are also princesses.
- Promotion to Parent: Janie Greaves of "Our Janie, Little Mum".
- Rags to Riches: As well as Riches to Rags.
- Revenge: Drove the plot of several stories.
- Scullery Maid: Any story set in Victorian times usually had the heroine play this role.
- Spoiled Brat: Two varieties - 1. the heroine is the brat and becomes subjected to Break the Haughty. 2. - the heroine works for such a brat, but is unable to quit as her family needs the money the job offers.
- Trapped in Another World: "The Clock and Cluny Jones".
- Trapped in the Past: This happens to Leonie Page in "Time Trap!", when she undergoes past life regression, only for the hypnotist to collapse, leaving her trapped.
- Wicked Stepmother: Or aunt, or stepfather, or adoptive family, etc.
