Introduced in Do Your Best, Chibi Godzilla

    Chibi Godzilla

"My dream is to become a big monster so that Dad can hug me!"

Modeled after: Godzilla

First Appearance: Do Your Best, Chibi Godzilla (2018)

Voiced by: Serika Hiromatsu (I'm Home, Chibi Godzilla), Jun Fukuyama (Chibi Godzilla Raids Again)

A character created by Chiharu Sakazaki, features in Godzilla media that were aimed at very young children.

In the children's book series, Chibi Godzilla is a young version of Godzilla, and in stark contrast to other continulity's Godzilla, he is a crybaby. In I'm Home, Chibi Godzilla, Chibi Godzilla is living with a human named Satomi in Japan, training himself to be the king of monsters.

In Chibi Godzilla Raids Again, he is instead a son of Godzilla who lives in Monster Island, and is more of a Cloudcuckoolander, much to Chibi Mechagodzila's chagrin.

Tropes that applies to Chibi Godzilla in general

  • Adaptational Friendship: Godzilla's traditional enemies such as Ghidorah and Mechagodzilla are his friends.
  • Breath Weapon: In the original children's book series and the I'm Home, Chibi Godzilla web series, Chibi Godzilla is only able to shoot breathing fire out of his mouth. In Chibi Godzilla Raids Again, however, Chibi Godzilla can shoot the regular blue Atomic Breath.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Episode 8 of I'm Home, Chibi Godzilla has him using his fire breath to propel himself through the air and fly, similar to what Godzilla did in Godzilla vs. Hedorah.
      • He does it again in Chibi Godzilla Raids Again— specifically in the season 2 episode "Chibi Monsters of the Sky", after Chibi Rodan brings it up and Chibi Mechagodzilla calls the idea unrealistic.
    • Episode 10 of Chibi Godzilla Raids Again has him looking like Shin Godzilla's second form because he didn't sleep properly. The episode ended with him returning to said form again, this time with purple skin as a result of bumping his knee.
    • Season 2 episode "Shin Chibi Godzilla" of Chibi Godzilla Raids Again has him dislike things exploding in his mouth. This is how Godzilla from Godzilla Minus One was defeated.
  • Tender Tears: Chibi Godzilla prone to tears in the children's book series and I'm Home, Chibi Godzilla. Not in Chibi Godzilla Raids Again though.

Tropes that applies to Chibi Godzilla in Chibi Godzilla Raids Again

  • Adaptation Personality Change: Chibi Godzilla in the original children's book series and I'm home, Chibi Godzilla is known to be a crybaby. Here, Chibi Godzilla is an eccentric Cloudcuckoolander.
  • Art Shift: Whenever Chibi Godzilla's destructive urges become strong enough, his face gets more detailed than usual. The other characters even comment on it.
  • Brutal Honesty: He and his friends will point out Chibi Rodan's flaws, who will faceplant to the ground.
  • Comedic Sociopathy: Because he's Chibi Godzilla, he loves to cause destruction. Chibi Mechagodzilla wasn't exactly thrilled when Chibi Godzilla went to town on his model city (with help from Chibi Ghidorah and Chibi Anguirus). This of course is Played for Laughs.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Probably the biggest one on an island full of 'em, which exasperates Chibi Mechagodzilla to no end. For example, when he slept the wrong way and ended up looking like Shin Godzilla's second form, he says that one of the advantages of the situation is that he relates to slugs.
  • Decomposite Character: As opposed to be a younger version of Godzilla himself in the original children's book, he is Godzilla's son in this adaptation.
  • Involuntary Shapeshifting: He turns into a chibi version of Shin Godzilla's second form (AKA Kamata-kun) whenever he gets sleep sprain or bumps his knee. The color of his skin after he transforms indicates which of these triggered the transformation.
  • Leitmotif: His is an accordion cover of the classic Godzilla March.
  • Spin-Offspring: Of a sort, he is the son of the King of the Monsters himself in this adaptation.

    Chibi Ghidorah
The chibi version of the three-headed dragon.
For further information, see the Godzilla: The Ghidorahs page.

    Chibi Rodan
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cgra_chibi_rodan.png
"Who could help it with wings... THIS BEAUTIFUL?!"

Modeled after: Rodan

Voiced by: Satsumi Matsuda (I'm Home, Chibi Godzilla), Hiro Shimono (Chibi Godzilla Raids Again)

The chibi version of the pterosaur-like kaiju.

In the children's book series, Chibi Rodan is one of Chibi Godzilla's friends.

In Chibi Godzilla Raids Again, Chibi Rodan is a resident in Monster Island. He is a Narcissist who look down on any chibi kaiju who can't fly, but come plummeting to the ground whenever his ego gets bruised.

Tropes that applies to Chibi Rodan in general

  • All Flyers Are Birds: Due to the 3d model used, Chibi Rodan in I'm Home, Chibi Godzilla looks like a duck. Even outside of that, Chibi Rodan looks a fair bit more avian than most of Rodan's other incarnations.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: This is his response to Satomi when she caught him and Chibi Godzilla trying to eat donuts before dinner in I'm Home, Chibi Godzilla. He fly out of Satomi's apartment with his mouth full of donuts!

Tropes that applies to Chibi Rodan in Chibi Godzilla Raids Again

  • Adaptation Personality Change: While his personality in the children's book series and I'm Home, Chibi Godzilla was never elaborated upon, Chibi Godzilla Raids Again had Chibi Rodan presented as a narcissist who admires his wings, but a frail enough ego that he crashes into the ground whenever it gets bruised. Even if that bruise is self-inflicted.
  • Butt-Monkey: Every time Chibi Rodan appears in an episode, expect him to plummet to the ground.
  • Character Catchphrase: When his ego gets bruised or gets flabbergasted, He will shout "RA-DOOON~~!" while the English subs translate it as "RO-DOOOWN!!" resulting in below.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: He's a narcissist who thinks he's better than the land kaiju and flying kaiju like him and Mothra are superior (humorously, she would like to disagree with him on that). And whenever someone makes a good argument, forgot he exists (like with Chibi Hedorah not knowing who he is), or being flabbergasted, he starts to faceplant into the ground.
  • Face Fault: He dives headfirst into the ground every single time his ego gets bruised. As Chibi Mothra puts it, "when his mood crashes, he crashes."
  • Narcissist: He is one who admires his own wings.

Introduced in Close Friends, Chibi Godzilla

    Chibi Mothra
The Chibi version of the flying moth.

Modeled after: Anguirus

Voiced by: ???note  (Chibi Godzilla Raids Again)

The chibi version of spiked ankylosaur.

In Chibi Godzilla Raids Again, Chibi Anguirus is a resident in Monster Island. His voice broke early and devolved into deep, unintelligible roars, and many characters misunderstand what he says as a result. Once he got his hands on smartphone however, it turns out that he's well-versed in internet slang.

Tropes that applies to Chibi Anguirus in general

Tropes that applies to Chibi Anguirus in Chibi Godzilla Raids Again

  • Forum Speak: Once handed a smartphone by Chibi Mechagodzilla, it is revealed that he usually post messages with internet slang.
  • The Unintelligible: Even the Shobijin can't translate his roars.
  • Vocal Dissonance: As noted, Chibi Anguirus in this adaptation cannot speak as his voice had been developed into unintelligible roars. Season 2 somehow have him compensate this disadvantage when Chibi Mechagodzilla hand him a smartphone.

Introduced in Sticker Picture Book: Chibi Godzilla and Friends

    Chibi Mechagodzilla
The chibi version of the robot kaiju who ressembles Chibi Godzilla.

Introduced in I'm Home, Chibi Godzilla

    Satomi

Voiced by: Mai Aizawa (I'm Home, Chibi Godzilla)

A human character who appear in I'm Home, Chibi Godzilla.

She is a office lady who is also a caretaker of Chibi Godzilla in said web series.

Introduced in Chibi Godzilla Raids Again

    Chibi Hedorah
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cgra_chibi_hedorah.png
"Gooood Afternoooon..."

Modeled after: Hedorah

Voiced by: Fumihiko Tachiki

The chibi version of the sludge monster, as appear in the show.

Chibi Hedorah is a self-proclaimed sage, who claim to know everything about and have deeep hatred for human, and views them as "pathetic", though his animosity towards them is greatly exaggerated. It is later revealed that he never met a human, not even once.

Oh, and he can't stand flith, despite being a sludge monster.

    Chibi Biollante
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cgra_chibi_biollante.png
"I see, I see. So you're stressed out!"

Modeled after: Biollante

Voiced by: Miyuki Sawashiro

The chibi version of the plant beast, as appear in the show.

Chibi Biollante, or Madam Bio for short, is a chibi kaiju who runs a snack bar "Snack Biollante"...that only sells dry foods (Which Chibi Mechagodzilla is not happy about). People had come to visit her snack bar to talk to her of their personal problems, and while she offers advice to her troubled customers, said advice can range from perplexingly allegorical to literal, and can be difficult to discern between the two. She speaks in Kansai dialect.

Notably, she's currently the only member of the cast based on a kaiju who debuted in a Heisei-era film.

  • Adaptational Attractiveness: This is true for all the chibi kaiju, who are much smaller and cuter than the kaiju they're based on, but Chibi Biollante stands out. The film iteration of Biollante's plant beast form is terrifying, while Chibi Biollante is way easier on the eyes by comparison.
  • Adaptational Friendship: Biollante is one of Godzilla's enemies in the Heisei film series. By contrast, Chibi Biollante is a owner of a snack bar and is on good terms with Chibi Godzilla.
  • Adapted Out: Madam Bio only appears in her plant beast form.
  • In-Series Nickname: "Madam Bio".
  • Planimal: Madam Bio is based on Biollante, so this is given.

    Chibi Minilla
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cgra_chibi_minilla.png
"Well, he's definitely a handful, but he's fun!"

Modeled after: Minilla

First Appearance: Chibi Godzilla Raids Again season 2 (2024)

Voiced by: Maaya Uchida

The chibi version of Minilla, first appearing in Chibi Godzilla Raids Again.

Despite only being 5 years old, Chibi Minilla is more sensible than her brother Chibi Godzilla, whom she admires despite his Cloudcuckoolander tendencies.

  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: She is the Responsible Sibling to Chibi Godzilla's Foolish Sibling.
  • Only Sane Man: One of the few sensible residents on Monster Island outside of Chibi Mechagodzilla.
  • She's a Man in Japan: In the original Japanese version, Chibi Minilla has an Ambiguous Gender (Chibi Minilla refers to themself by the masculine first-person pronoun boku (僕) in the Japanese dialogue. Chibi Godzilla non-specifically introducing her as his "relative" (親戚 shinseki), and the term that was translated as "Big Girl" in her the title of her debut episode is a non-gendered term for a "person of firm character"). The English subtitles and translation make Chibi Minilla firmly female.
  • Straight Man: Acts as one to her brother in episodes where Chibi Mechagodzilla is absent.
    Chibi Gabara
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chibi_gabara.png

Modeled after: Gabara

Voiced by: Ryōhei Kimura

The chibi version of the mutant amphibian kaiju, as appear in the show.

Chibi Gabara is a freelancer who does various part-time jobs, though he is a no-good guy who act as a senior in front of junior workers at his part-time job places.

He dreams to be a musician, but his circumstance (doing 8 part-time jobs a week) only allows him to do musical performance once a year.
