Mandy didn't break the fourth wall; she left it.
The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy holds the record as the Cartoon Network show with the most fourth wall jokes - even going as far as to beat Ed, Edd n Eddy for that record. Listing all of the examples would take up a lot of space on the main page, so we gave it its own page!
  • "Prank Call of Cthulhu"
    • Mandy is shown having a phone conversation with a monster who speaks entirely in beat-boxing. After he hangs up and Grim explains to Mandy what he was saying, she questions him on how he was able to understand—Grim claims that he had read the subtitles.
    • When Grim questions Mandy on why they need to get Billy back, she claims that it's primarily because "The Grim Adventures of Mandy" doesn't sound as good as "Billy and Mandy."
  • In "He's Not Dead, He's My Mascot!", Mandy remarks, "Great, another episode about pets. That's it, I'm out of this cartoon," as the camera zooms out and she walks out of the frame.
Billy: Psst! Grim! Mandy left. What do I do now? They're all watching.
Grim: (Offscreen) I'm not in this scene, Billy. Just keep going.
Billy: Will do. (Continues scene) Hey! It's the fluffy cat Fluffy... Cat...
    Mindy: You already said that.
    Billy: Oh yeah.
  • In "Wishbones", as the episode is going to a commercial break, Thromnambular says "Let's watch some commercials, then get back to the show."
  • In "Keeper of the Reaper", as Fred Fredburger is at the urinal, the judge comes out of the toilet and tells the viewers to take a bathroom break during the commercials.
  • Grim combines this with a Call-Back in "Bully Boogie". When he tries to pull a prank on Boogie by putting hot sauce in his milk, Mandy cautions him; Grim replies, "Don't worry, I saw this in the Halloween special." (Of course, he obviously didn't remember it all too well; Mandy did indeed try to pull the same trick in that one, but it didn't work quite as she expected it to.)
  • In "Educating Grim", Billy tells Grim that he has to go to school in this episode.
  • Sir Raven addresses the audience in every episode featuring him.
  • At the end of "A Grim Prophecy", the cave witch tells the audience that she has foreseen their future as well and cackles evilly after stating that their future is an eternity of commercials.
  • In "Complete and Utter Chaos", the talking burrito at one point informs the audience that they're at the part where it really gets good.
  • In "The Secret Snake Club", Irwin protests that this episode was supposed to be about snake nerds as he's being dragged away by CIA operatives.
    • Earlier, when Billy is first interviewed at the CIA headquarters, one of the agents attempts to hide the outdoor shot, telling the viewer they can't go in (with the camera trying to re-focus around him). After their leader is shown watching Billy through a monitor, he notices the viewer behind him and wonders where they came from.
  • In "Duck!", Hector Con Carne complains "I'm not even on this stupid show anymore!" when even though Evil Con Carne segments have long since been discontinued, he still shows up just to get arrested by getting framed for farting too much.
  • In "The Bubble with Billy", Irwin offers to take Billy's place as main character and suggests that they change the show's name to The Grim Adventures of Irwin and Mandy.
  • In "Billy Idiot," after Billy receives an acceptance from a performing arts school and is claimed to be a dance prodigy, Mandy remarks that Billy isn't good at anything and questions his being accepted into a dance school by asking if the people there have seen the show.
  • In "Ecto Cooler", after Lord Byron introduces himself to Billy, Billy angrily asks if this means he's going to learn anything in this episode.
  • Near the end of "Modern Primitives", Mandy remarks that it was a waste of an episode.
  • In "Chaos Theory", Hoss Delgado claims that he and Eris (the Goddess of Chaos) have been dating since the 47th-episode of the series—although "Guess What's Coming to Dinner" (the episode where the couple first met) is technically (the second half of) the show's 48th-episode (though it might be justified if the writers consider "Billy and Mandy's Jacked-Up Halloween" as a special and not a regular episode).
  • "Pandora's Lunch Box" has Mandy and Billy both make a remark about the quality of the writing, both times cutting to a baby at the typewriter.
  • Around eight minutes into the episode "Everything Breaks", Billy comments that the show is almost over.
  • In the episode "King Tooten Pooten", Grim remarks that he needs subtitles for this episode after Irwin's mummy mother says something unintelligible.
  • Grim tries to end the show prematurely in "Hey, Water You Doing?"
  • "The Incredible Shrinking Mandy"
    • Grim mentions to Billy that standards would be all over his butt if he tried to use his scythe to harm Billy and Mandy.
    • After Mr. Snuggles is revealed to have survived being eaten by Milkshakes, Billy looks toward the audience and asks them if they really thought they'd let Mr. Snuggles die.
  • Grim remarks how insufferable it is to co-star with Mandy in every episode near the end of the crossover with Codename: Kids Next Door.
  • Billy and Mandy's Big Boogey Adventure features several instances of breaking the fourth wall.
    • In the beginning, Billy remarks that he failed to follow Billybot and Mandroid back in time because he was too busy watching the opening credits.
    • When Mandy asks Billy about why he's doing his musical number "Scary-O", Billy replies that there are always songs in animated movies.
    • When the gang find a cake reading "Happy Birthday, Billy and Mandy", Mandy surmises that the cake is a trap on the basis that she and Billy don't share the same birthday. Irwin adds "Maybe it's celebrating the show's birthday, yo!"
  • Halfway through Wrath of the Spider Queen, Mandy remarks that Jeff and Velma Green will resolve their issues during the commercial break.
  • The video game.
