Big Goods in Fan Works. Main and/or supporting heroes will become the major forces of good at some point of the plot/story, so beware of spoilers ahead.
- Abraxas (Hrodvitnon): Godzilla fulfills this role by virtue of being the alpha Titan and the Arch-Enemy of Ghidorah.
- A Crown of Stars: Daniel, Emperor of Avalon. He meets the heroes - Shinji and Asuka - when they're at their lowest and offers to give back everything that was taken away from them. He brings their families and friends back, heals their physical scars, helps them to recover from their traumas, and lends them a military force to save their world.
- Clash of the Elements: Alpha takes up this mantle in the second part.
- Dragons and Swarm: The Crimson Dragon helped Taylor land on her feet on Earth Yota, made her Their seventh Signer, and gave her the ability to allow Duel Spirits to physically manifest.
- In Fractured (SovereignGFC) and its sequel Origins, this role is shared in a Big Good Ensemble, though some people fade in and out.
- The Council gets no respite here, until Admiral Grayson joins their members after the assassination of Udina. Even then, it's the reasonable outsider (up to a point) versus entrenched galactic politics.
- Wrex, to the krogan.
- Samantha Shepard is a downplayed version, since unlike in the game she doesn't use her Magnetic Hero tendencies to unite the galaxy against the Reapers. She also has a bit of a brush with depression and a Heroic BSOD that sees a temporary Face-Heel Turn. She resumes the role later, though.
- Alt!Roland in his own multiverse and in this one.
- Allison Nimitz, once her fleet arrives.
- Jane fills this role in the Homestuck fanfic The Golden Age, being queen of Skaia and chairwoman to the United Galaxies.
- The Golden Boys Last Temptation: Dream of the Endless prevents "Smiley" from claiming both Prez and Supergirl's souls, stating that he is the Prince of Stories and he enjoys a happy ending now and then. When "Smiley" roars he will put Kara to through her worse nightmare, Dream curtly states nightmares are his domain, makes a gesture, and "Smiley" disappears.
- HERZ: Misato Katsuragi, Director of HERZ. She is tasked with using the Evangelions on peace-keeping and peace-making missions, and preventing the spreading of the Eva technology. She is also SEELE’s worst enemy, having spent twelve years foiling their plans and scheming and plotting against them.
- Hours 'Verse: As the heads of the companies contributing the most resources to the Shadow Operatives, who are dedicated to fighting threats in meta-space, Kei Nanjo and Mitsuru Kirijo share this role. Philemon also serves as this, as the creator and master of the Velvet Room, but his decisions are often contentious and most of the Wild Cards have a tenuous relationship with him.
- Rexy in It's not the Raptor DNA. She commands the fear, respect, and/or love of everybody and every creature on Isla Nublar, and is the one who tries to guide Elise and the younger dinosaurs toward a better future.
- In the fanfic The Man Who Sold the World, the Hunter is this to the people of Yharnam. He guards their world from outsider (read: unstabilizing) visitors without control of what they can do, and has put an end to the Hunt. Being a benevolent, albeit ruthless Great One, the people of Yharnam adore him.
- The Moon's Flash Princess has Kayaba Akihiko, in a massive case of Adaptational Heroism. Sword Art Online was created to allow people to use their abilities from the game in real life, and things were set up so the reincarnation of Princess Serenity would regain her memories if she was playing the game. Too bad Zoicite added a virus that turned Sword Art Online into its canonical death game.
- Mortal Kombat vs. The Owl House has Raiden, who is the only active Elder God in the story helping the heroes despite his limited ability to interfere.
- My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic fanfics:
- The Aftermath of the Games universe: While Celestia is still the Big Good to Equestria, Princess Twilight has become this to the Terran equivalent of her friends, the filly version of Starlight Glimmer, and to her own human counterpart, offering her advice and comfort she doubts herself. Above Celestia, however, is Harmony, a being that controls the power of Harmony, and who ascends ponies who prove their worthiness to her.
- Godzilla Junior has grown up into this by time we meet him in The Bridge (MLP). While he might be a tad impulsive at times if he feels the situation is dire, he is a benign soul who has gone out of his way to protect the world numerous times. King of the Monsters indeed.
- Celestia also has shades of this, but the title in this story really goes to Harmony (the spirit of the Tree of Harmony), the entity who's provided Divine Intervention for the heroes, brought King Caesar to Equestria in the past to fight Tirek, and is trying to be The Conscience to the less evil members of the Big Bad's forces.
- Equestria Girls: Friendship Souls: Discord of all people plays this role, he acts as Sunset and the Humane Five's guide to the spiritual world, gives them the resources and allies they need to survive, protects their families, acts as Sunset's personal mentor, and wants to end the war between Soul Society and the Quincy.
- A Future of Friendship, a History of Hate has Amity, Ruinate's sister, who created the Elements of Harmony eons ago to originally defeat him. At the climax of Episode 2, she remotely communicates with the Mane Six as she uses the bonds between them to first restore Twilight's soul after Ruinate destroyed it, and then to unlock their full power in order to help them defeat him again.
- The Kamen Rider Wizard crossover Friendship Is Showtime has Princess Celestia and the White Wizard both filling this role, though to their own separate apprentices. It turns out that they're old friends.
- The redeemed spirit of Horus in The God Empress of Ponykind, trying to keep Luna from falling to The Corruption, and when that fails he helps her break free long enough for Celestia to use the Elements of Harmony on her, and then acts as her guardian while she is imprisoned in the Warp. When Luna is set free in the sequel, Horus continues to act as Luna's mentor as she adjusts to modern Equestria.
- Justice League of Equestria: Athena is this for Princess of Themyscira, guiding Soarin' and Diana against the machinations of Ares. She's possibly also this for the series as a whole, having led the charge against Darkseid in the War in Heaven.
- Allegedly, the Grand Ruler in My Brave Pony: Starfleet Magic.
- The Pony POV Series:
- Fauna Luster and the Father of all Alicorns are this for the alicorns, and The Multiverse as a whole.
- The Dark World has The Benevolent Interloper/Amicitia, who serves as a counterbalance to The Nameless Passenger/Nightmare Paradox, and Mission Control in the Final Battle.
- The Shining Armor Arc has Mother Deer, the leader of the anti-Hooviet La Résistance that eventually allies with Shining's group.
- The series as a whole has the Interviewers, who guide the characters along to reach their happy endings. They turn out to be Amicitia, having undergone a Literal Split Personality as part of a gambit to create a more hopeful timeline separate from Dark World.
- During the Finale Arc, Havoc seems to take this role for the CMC, giving them aid disguised as a foal named Phobia on their journey to undo Discord's endgame.
- Fillimon, the personification of the good qualities of the Shadows Who Make, who helps light and goodness thrive in worlds and opposes her brother Nyarlathotrot (the literal personification of Grim Dark), likely counts for the multiverse as a whole.
- The Conversion Bureau: The Other Side of the Spectrum:
- Princess Celestia immediately declares war on Queen Celestia after witnessing the ponies of the Solar Empire enforce Conversion upon humanity.
- Prior to her execution, TCB!Lyra Heartstrings not only founded the Ponies for Human Life, but gave humanity a reason to trust the Empire's defectors. Even death hasn't dampened her legacy, to the point that some members of the Human Liberation Front mourned for her despite their virulent anti-pony sentiments.
- During the story, TCB!Cheerilee eventually becomes the new leader of the PHL, going so far as taking a clone of the Solar Tyrant head-on and beating her to a pulp thanks to runic enhancement.
- The Stars Ascendant is about Celestia struggling with whether or not she remains the Big Good now that Twilight Sparkle has surpassed her, and her guilt over unwittingly holding Twilight back from her true potential.
- The God Squad in their self named fic. Especially when foals are in danger.
- The Pieces Lie Where They Fell: The spirit of Balance acts this way, though its ability to support the heroes is limited due to being forced to give the Big Bad equal aid. Ultimately subverted when it turns out Balance was just as big of a monster as the Nightmare, playing with others' lives to achieve its goals and sentencing the Nightmare to a Fate Worse than Death.
- Cait Sith and his creator, Reeve in Off the Line, who are the moderator and head admin of the game and the game's creator. When Nanaki suffered glitches in his gameplay due to the incompatibility of his headgear, Cait Sith tracked him down and Reeve made him a custom headgear in exchange for Nanaki's permission to study Nanaki's data. When Cloud finds out that Vincent is a player and not a virus, Cait Sith does everything he can to make up his past actions to Vincent and Reeve plans to track down Vincent's comatose body.
- The KanColle fanfic Pacific World War IIUS Navy Shipgirls has USS Enterprise, aka "The Grey Ghost" and "The Big E", which is a Justified Trope on accounts that her historical namesake pretty much served in the war from beginning to end, and was the most decorated US ship during the war with 20 battle stars earned. This is even mentioned word-for-word by the author.
- In Pokémon Reset Bloodlines, Professor Oak is seen as this, as his research has helped in making the world a better place for Pokémon and humans alike, although the exact details haven't been specified yet.
- Asula the Milotic, headmistress of the Long Island base and organiser of the main heroic team in Pokéumans.
- The Command & Conquer/Mass Effect fanfic Renegade has Kane of all people, manipulating GDI and the Council into working together against Saren and warning Shepard about the Reapers.
- Ozpin in Ruby and Nora plays this much more straight than his Morally grey canon counterpart. While he had to make one rather morally dubious decision, he’s much more open about how much it is eating away at him, and he honestly felt like he had no choice.
- In The Second Try, Kaworu of all people. What pushes him into this territory is that not only did he make so that Third Impact was averted, he made it so that Aki could grow up normally with her parents. He's still a bit of a dick, but saving all 3 billion people on Earth allows you to be.
- In the Shadowchasers Series, Jalal Stormbringer fills the role in each fic, being the founder and leader of the organization, but a few fics have secondary ones:
- In Shadowchasers: Backwater, Rayearth can be considered the secondary Big Good for all matters pertaining to the city of Backwater.
- In Shadowchasers: Torment, the god of retribution St. Cuthbert, being the one who secretly sponsors Leorin's quest for redemption.
- Space Sheriff Aka from Super Milestone Wars 2.
- Mothra holds this position in The New Age of Monsters. She is one of the strongest Kaijus on the planet and protects humans against all threats, kaiju or otherwise. As a result, people have started a new religion around her.
- Undocumented Features has the Wedge Defense Force, and later the International Police Organization.
- Lance and Steven both play this role in Traveler.
- Moltres, Mew, and Lugia all fit this mold on a much larger scale.
- Mad World (Invader Zim): The final chapter reveals that Miss Bitters, of all people, was this all along, having put the events of the story in motion in order to defeat the Thing.
- My Father's Son: Tessarion, the Valarion God of Beauty and Knowledge. She's taken an interest in the new targaeryn hegemony, and is providing guidance and miracles to the family to ensure they're molded into a new, better monarchy and family for Westeros.
- Prehistoric Park Reimagined: Theodore Richardson is the CEO of resident Megacorp Novum, and also just so happens to be the inventor of the time portal, owner of Prehistoric Park, and man responsible for hiring its staff and serving as the Mission Control for the rescue team who decides which animals to serve as targets of rescue to be included amongst the park's animal repertoire.
- Theodore serves a similar role in the fic's spiritual predecessor Prehistoric Earth, in which he serves all the roles mentioned in the above fic while also hiring Cynthia to serve as a spy to expose and foil the efforts of a separate spy that's been hired by the story's Big Bad to cause sabotage at the park for the sake of a hidden prehistoric animal smuggling operation.
- Cinders and Ashes: the Chronicles of Kamen Rider Dante has two Big Goods that are carryovers from an anime the fanfic crosses over with: Aki Kikuchihara, a government agent who oversees the special disaster case of fictional characters suddenly appearing in the real world and Meteroa, one of those fictional characters with a wide array of magical powers and intellect that allow her to plan and coordinate as Mission Control. A third Big Good is later revealed in the form of Isaac Gilmore, who was summoned to Earth years ago and knows about the origins of how this mess began in the first place, serving as a third wheel once he joins the team proper.
- Infinity Crisis: Several people can pretend to this rank throughout the Multiverse.
- Earth-199999 Doctor Strange not only spends most of his time observing alternate universes but he also saves the Power Rangers from being killed during Powers and Marvels and it's also revealed in Another Side of the Glimpses that Thanos killing half the Multiverse was, in fact, part of a Batman Gambit in order to restore everyone earlier than in the canon timeline, avoiding the least desired aftermaths of it.
- The Doctor is a serious contender for this title. Let's see... One tracking Evil Hyperion, Five investigating a plan of invasion led by the Cybermen, Six helping up against the Rani, Seven, Eight, Eleven & Thirteen being thorns in the Skrulls' plans, Ten trying to stop The Pighead...
- Franchise/Arrowverse Mar Novu aka the Monitor, can also qualify as this, as he's often shown trying to prepare various heroes for the upcoming Crisis.
