And The Fandom Rejoiced / Capcom

  • Capcom attempted an Author's Saving Throw by announcing six social games for iOS. Why is this notable? Because Capcom, joining the PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale bandwagon, are making their own "Capcom All-stars" game (think Capcom Vs. Just Capcom), with Classic (Pre-Reboot) Dante and Mega Man in it (after coming this close to refusing to acknowledge their existence). That is, only to screw it up by announcing it would stay Japan-only. As one NeoGAF member put it:
"So if it's their own in-house Japan only thing, classic Dante is ok!"
    • Not to fear, Western fans: Mega Man in Super Smash Bros. should more than make up for it.
  • *ahem*....Resident Evil 6 As if that wasn't enough to get fans excited, the trailer revealed Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield returning in the same game. But both badass protagonist appearances pale in comparison to the return of...wait for it...Sherry Birkin! That sound you hear? Millions of RE fans throwing money at the screen.
    • Oh...and zombies are back!
  • Resident Evil: Revelations 2, huh? You mean Claire's finally coming back? Awesome! And her partner is Barry Burton's daughter? Well, it's a nice Continuity Nod, but not as cool as having the big guy himse- wait, BARRY'S GONNA BE IN IT, TOO?! Hell yes!
  • Ladies and gentlemen, I give you... Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. And it's a VR-based horror game, releasing just in time for Resident Evil's 20th birthday celebration. Well, OK. Maybe I'd consider... Why does this look like P.T.? Well, it's not Silent Hills but it does look very- HOLY FUCKING SPACE DRAGONS! It's returning to the franchise's horror roots! YAHOO!
    • What has been revealed of the gameplay and atmosphere is a double-whammy of awesome for those still smarting from the cancellations of both Silent Hills and Allison Road.
    • And for those still longing for a classic RE fix, more good news: they're also finally, finally doing the Resident Evil 2 remake fans have been begging for since 2002!
  • So they have an announcement for San Diego Comic-Con, eh? Wonder what they'll show this time...wait. Is that...holy shit, a new Strider game?!
  • Face it, before it was announced as an Xbox One exclusive, Many people thought "Dead Rising 3 is being made? Grab me some duct-tape and Let's kick some ass!" then after Microsoft decided to go back on its game restrictions for the Xbox One, Fans were even happier to find that The world is much bigger and prettier with no loading, you can turn the timer on and off, the Zombies are smarter, No zombie or survivor will be exactly the same and you can make a combo weapon anywhere you want!
    • Capcom managed to drum up more hype by revealing the reward for beating Nightmare mode: the First Armor from Mega Man X, complete with arm cannon!
  • Well a port of Resident Evil 4 is coming to Steam. Eh, it'll probably be a rehashing of the crappy PC port from 2007—wait, IT'S GOING TO BE THE ULTIMATE HD EDITION AND IT WILL RUN IN 60 FRAMES-PER-SECOND (if your system can handle it) WITH PROPER MOUSE AND KEYBOARD CONTROLS?! REJOICE, PC PLAYERS, THERE MAY BE A PORT OF RE4 WORTH PLAYING AFTER ALL!!
  • So, Capcom's announced a DmC: Definitive Edition game, huh? Yawn-o-rama. I mean, even if you put new Dante in old Dante's clothes, you're not going to make him any more likable. Hang on, 'one more thing?' What else coul... is that Vergil? Pre-reboot Vergil? Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition?!? I don't care if it's a remake of a game released on the previous console generation (360, PS3), it's more non-reboot Devil May Cry!
  • So Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0 have an HD remaster on PC and consoles? That's pretty cool, but how about Resident Evil 2 getting the same treatment? Wait, did Capcom just announce that it's actually going to happen!?
  • This Q&A summary for Capcom's financial results ending in March 31, 2016 has one particular answer that has caught the attention of many fans, meaning that several dormant Capcom IPs can potentially be revived in the near future:
    Q. What impact has organizational restructuring of development in the Consumer business had?
    A. Compared to before the restructuring, we have made profitability improvements via administration of the roadmap and increasing the ratio of internally developed titles. However, at the same time we have increased our development workforce, thus we must pay greater attention to management of development. We also possess a vast library of content in which there remains multiple IP that have not yet been utilized to their full potential—these issues we will handle moving forward. Moreover, we will endeavor for further profitability improvements and unit sales growth by releasing all titles finished to a high level of quality.
  • The above pay off comes at E3 2018, when Capcom drops not one, but TWO big cinematic trailers. One for Devil May Cry 5 and the second for the Resident Evil 2 remake. See them for yourself here and here, respectively.
  • With the bareboned release of Street Fighter V, its Arcade Edition allowed players to download the DLC characters from Seasons 1 and 2 for free, which pleased many fans. This bumped up the roster from 16 characters to 28. Arcade Edition also includes features that weren't in the original version, such as Arcade Mode and character endings.
    • Each character from Seasons 1 and 2 were revealed one at a time, with unrevealed characters appearing as silhouettes. Once Capcom Cup 2017 ended, Sakura was revealed as the first character of Season 3, with the same silhouette format as seen before for the 5 remaining characters. What was Capcom thinking? Why must people wait to see the upcoming... Hold on. There's another trailer?! Is that the new cinematic opening? Wait, is that Blanka with Sakura?! Who is that Uncle Sam looking guy?note  Hold on... that's Cody! He's wearing a suit now! Looks like he turned his life arou... SAGAAAAAAT!!! Goddamn, he's back! Capcom did it! They finally did it... whose that woman next to Ed?note  Unreal. Capcom learned their lesson and revealed the 5 remaining Season 3 characters.
    • Before the EVO 2018 finals for SFV took place, Producer Yoshinori Ono arrived on stage, but was soon joined by an actor playing the role of G. After the latter gave a speech about the unity of Earth and its people, his gameplay trailer was shown. But, Ono wasn't finished yet, as a trailer for Sagat was also shown! And if that wasn't enough, the end of Sagat's trailer states that both him and G were available the very next day! Keep in mind that the other DLC characters usually get released a week or two after their gameplay trailers were revealed and it was always one character at a time.
    • In 2020, Capcom announced that the game was getting a fifth and final round of DLC characters. On August 5th, four of them were announced, including Oro, a sought-after inclusion after his one and only appearance in Street Fighter III, and Akira Kazama?! Rival Schools finally gets a playable character in the series!
  • Amazingly enough, the announcement of the Capcom Fighting Collection brings in a couple of whammies to spice up what could have been an otherwise standard package: the return of Darkstalkers after years of inactivity by bringing in every game in the series (including the never-previously-imported Vampire Hunter 2 and Vampire Savior 2), and the very first home console release for Red Earth!
