* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation:
** In the DummiedOut ending of Amusia, is DISABLED lashing out at you when you refuse to "give (her) your sing?" Or are they doubling down on their request, begging you for help?
** What's with the big smile on Mike's face during the majority of "Dissension"? Is he unaware of what his brother was about to do to him, or is it symbolic of how S!3V3N sees him as a monster for accidentally causing Miki's death?
** Invoked with "Bygone Purpose", which the dev admitted on Twitter that giving Hypno a sympathetic backstory was entirely his own HeadCanon for this project, and was not indicative of the actual Creepypasta Hypno originated from.
* AntiClimaxBoss:
** In the unfinished build, the song gained for beating every other song in the mod, including the [[MarathonLevel 6-minute-long "Brimstone"]] and the [[ThatOneLevel brutally difficult Lost Silver week]] is "Purin"... a slow-paced and gimmickless song where the player spends long amounts of time completely silent. The difference in difficulty in the initial released build can be attributed to being meant as not as a BrutalBonusLevel, but a mid/early game song obtained by buying the relatively cheap Lit Candle, with the function being re-implemented in the finished build.
** "Bygone Purpose", one of the last songs purchasable in the shop, is incredibly easy. The song is incredibly slow with the mechanic (every note being a different scroll speed) overall not being too difficult to deal with thanks to the speed the song goes in.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8p1L6RbKQrM "Safety Lullaby"]] is a remix of Lavander Town with actual lyrics as Hypno attempts to hypnotise Girlfriend.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEBaC0oLYbs "Lost Cause"]] starts off with Girlfriend attempting to [[GetAHoldOfYourselfMan snap Boyfriend out of his hypnosis]] by [[CallBack singing a medley of songs from the original game]], before suddenly turning into an intense boss theme after a well-executed JumpScare that itself fits very well into the song.
** For a song where the titular opponent is a [[ShoddyKnockoffProduct goofy Bootleg Hypno]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bK2jaijvTYY "Shinto"]] is unashamedly upbeat; taking the normally creepy and somber motif of Lavender Town and turning it into a catchy and cheery piece with classic 8-bit ''Pokémon'' sound samples sprinkled throughout.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18--CryqPp8 "Shitno"]] is a drastic turn from Shinto's earlier song in all the best ways: Shinto is ''angry'', and she demonstrates this with the shift from the earlier retro sample to a ''rocking'' tune. Special mention goes after Gray yells "LEAVE ME ALONE!", where the song transforms even more intense, with Saster displaying his talents to the max on this song.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXDhIw5rJyg "Dissension"]] isn't as outwardly creepy or haunting as other songs in the mod, but is instead a badass metal song that goes perfectly with S!3V3N's raspy vocals to give off a raw energy of awesomeness.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mtNxlpgqSY "Amusia"]], an intense song that also sounds like it wouldn't be out of place in an actual Pokemon game.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cm4XGORjVzE "Purin"]] is a very unique song, combining incredibly eerie moments with a haunting ambient instrumental and little to no singing and extended sections where Pico is given the chance to go off for long stretches with Purin itself acting as backing. Late in the song, it even starts playing itself in reverse just to up the ominous feeling.
* BreatherBoss:
** In the Lost Silver chapter, "Insomnia" is by far the easiest. The song isn't very fast, and the only gimmick only comes into play if you don't keep your accuracy up. And the song preceding it ("Frostbite") and the song after it ("Monochrome") are both candidates for [[ThatOneLevel the hardest songs in the mod]].
** "Death Toll", despite the setup, is actually one of the easiest songs in the mod. The only gimmick, Hell Bell's tolls, are just as simple as pressing any other note in the song, with no real repercussions outside of losing HP.
* CreepyCute:
** The fandom loves treating Gold this way. If it's not angst art, most fanart of him is flat out adorable in contrast to the frights in the mod. It's emphasized when a Twitter user finds [[https://twitter.com/ArtsCryptid/status/1584258296906911744 this particular]] piece of unused content for "Pasta Night" where Gold would've been a background character, now wearing a red bowtie and is strung up by two balloons spelling out "HI" in the Unown language.
** Freakachu is normally a terrifying sight with its mutilated, frostbitten body and permanent SlasherSmile, but the freeplay icon for "Frostbite" shows it taking a piggyback ride on Red's back, looking like it's having the time of its life.
* CrossesTheLineTwice:
** [[spoiler:Alexis being DrivenToSuicide, as revealed in "Bygone Purpose"? [[TearJerker Tragic]]. The game saying [[SuicideDare you should follow suit]] for [[EasyModeMockery using Botplay]]? ''Hilarious''.]]
** Gray, the protagonist of "Shinto" and "Shitno" being possessed by a dead child? Sad, and somewhat expected. The reason for him being possessed being that the developers ''couldn't be assed to program him''? Hilarious.
* CrossoverShip: Shinto and [[VideoGame/{{the}} Coronation Day Peach]] have a bit of a following due to a scene of them flirting in Pasta Night.
* CryForTheDevil: Hypno is a terrifying HumanoidAbomination that will stop at nothing once it sets its sights on someone, even employing dirty tactics to kidnap them... however, [[https://twitter.com/Banbuds/status/1462298929366769664 a pair of teaser images]] allude to the death of someone close to it, giving way to the interpretation that the kidnappings are a desperate attempt at companionship born from loneliness rather than malevolence. This is fully explored in "Bygone Purpose" in the cancelled build, which shows the sadness Hypno had to endure from losing his trainer, [[spoiler:Alexis]]. The shopkeeper, however, warns the player [[NoSympathy not to fall for]] [[FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse Hypno's sympathetic origins.]]
* EnsembleDarkHorse:
** "Monochrome" has been receiving the most love out of all of the songs, primarily due to the haunting vocals, the frantic pace, the incredible melody, and the use of Perish Song as a recurring motif in the song itself. Being ThatOneLevel with extremely unique gimmicks, and one of the first to use a first-person perspective, also helps.
** This mod's version of Girlfriend is one of the most popular out there with her silly-looking poses, accuracy to her FearlessFool demeanor, and (of course) much simping over her new casual (yet form-fitting) outfit.
** Missingno. is incredibly popular due to its upbeat, catchy song and the [[MoodWhiplash nice change of pace]] compared to the rest of the mod.
* FanNickname: The mod's version of Girlfriend is sometimes referred to as "Monkey GF", as her down pose has her [[PrimalStance in a similar pose to a gorilla]].
* FanonDiscontinuity: WordOfGod is nearly completely ignored that the mod has the SuddenDownerEnding that Girlfriend and Boyfriend have both been abducted by Hypno and a lot of fan art actually has Girlfriend NoSell Hypno's attempts. Considering she also managed to beat [[VideoGame/VsSonicExe Sonic.exe]], this was inevitable. Eventually, the mod would go against this itself, with "Lost Cause" giving a more ambiguous ending that doesn't make the final call on if Hypno manages to hypnotize Girlfriend again or not... until Banbuds revealed in a [=QnA=] that [[TheBadGuyWins Hypno killed both Boyfriend and Girlfriend at the end of the song]].
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: Surprisingly, of all characters, [[CreepyChild Gold]] can provide a few examples of this if taken into the context of his situation.
** Even after becoming a GhastlyGhost of an UndeadChild, Gold still calls for the assistance of Celebi, the last Pokemon he used in a Pokemon battle before his death. [[UndyingLoyalty And it answers the call.]]
** The various MoodWhiplash-heavy messages you type, if you interpret it as Gold speaking to you, could be that Gold is still trying to have fun and [[GallowsHumor crack a few jokes]] despite his situation. Adding onto this is that he doesn't do anything bad to Boyfriend if you lose, and he simply escapes. It appears that, despite being a corpse, Gold is still a KidHero at heart.
* SugarWiki/HeReallyCanAct: Many fans were surprised to hear [[DescendedCreator Banbuds]] giving a [[EvilSoundsDeep deep]], impressively chilling performance as Hypno in "Safety Lullaby". Even [=TrainerDerek=], the original song's writer, has personally approved of his take.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** [=SimplyCrispy=] made their own [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEBrI7acI10 remix]] of "Monochrome" before being brought onto the mod's team as one of the composers for the V2 update and composing the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18_H4ZbLCFE official remake]] for said update.
** When awakened, Feralisleep forcefully opens its eyes to attack Boyfriend, though it's clear they're still held down by its flesh. A few days after V2 was released, ''[[https://youtu.be/ap22Rh4bSy4 Pokemon RE: Lost Silver]]'', a remake of the original Lost Silver game, was released. What did Feralisleep's remastered sprite feature? Eyes being held down by its flesh.
** Per WordOfGod, Blake and Gold are both a CompositeCharacter of each other, with the events of Fanfic/EasterEggSnowOnMtSilver taking place before the rest of the Lost Silver content. ''Pokemon RE: Lost Silver'', alongside the additional content it contained, [[spoiler:also contained [[GameWithinAGame a playable version of the creepypasta hidden within the game]]]].
* ItWasHisSled: Due to the immense popularity of "Shitno" compared to the preceding "Shinto", not many players are unaware of Shinto's transformation after the latter song.
* MemeticMutation:
** Girlfriend's poses[[labelnote:Explanation]]People have taken notice of Girlfriend's animations in the main week, as she stands rather unusually and has some silly-looking poses (for example, her down pose has been compared to a gorilla). WordOfGod states that this is due to her deteriorating mental state caused by hypnosis, but some fans maintain a popular headcanon that it's because she's been sitting on her speakers so long, she forgot how to walk.[[/labelnote]]
** Gold is bullied[[labelnote:Explanation]]Partially thanks to artwork in [[https://twitter.com/SUS_PAIN/status/1455436357900201987 this tweet]], fans have taken to making jokes about [[BlackComedy the limbless Gold being stuck in a wheelchair]]. It's also common to combine this with the phrase [[Memes/{{Deltarune}} I'M IN A FUCKING WHEELCHAIR]], [[MemeAcknowledgement which was later added to the mod itself.]][[/labelnote]]
** Gold falls off of the wheelchair.
** Gold's...[[BodyHorror unique appearance]] has had many people drawing fanart of various characters and OCs in his same dismembered state. Even [=srPerez=], creator of ''VideoGame/VsShaggy'', [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMLKmEG_FQo got in on the trend.]]
** And they replaced me with some BLUE-HAIRED NI-[[labelnote:Explaination]]Glitchy Red's mini-cutscene in "Isotope" was already a popular moment on its own, but then [[https://twitter.com/BreezyMelee/status/1583865724014981121?s=20&t=S9n91Aa86q1L87_Tol-08A a tweet was made]] showing off a joke version of the line said during development where Red [[VulgarHumor says the N-word instead of 'kid']], [[RefugeInAudacity hard R and all]]. This quickly became a popular video to post around or edit to make Red say other slurs.[[/labelnote]]
** "Its a fucking ''bar'', Gold."[[labelnote:Explanation]]After assets showing Gold was to appear in "Pasta Night" with a similar bowtie to Hypno's, an artist came up with the idea that [[https://twitter.com/skitkattl/status/1585151754404245504?t=VHaz_ysSsWro25Zb5sn1_Q&s=19 Hypno acts as his legal guardian]] and took Gold with him. The car ride there is filled with the typical banter one would expect from a jaded adult and an eleven-year-old, and the result has seen many fanmade dubs by other fans of the mod.[[/labelnote]]
** hi guys, i'm saster[[labelnote:Explanation]][[https://twitter.com/RexDoesStuff/status/1585407672186462209 This comic]] by [=RexDoesStuff=] depicting Gray and Shinto being interrupted in the middle of "Shitno" by Saster, one of the song's composers, with Gray being hyped and Shinto confused as hell, became popular enough among the fanbase to receive [[https://twitter.com/phantasmuh/status/1585893005998833664 a video dub]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B34BH8dCdNQ even its own separate mod]]. Though, if [[https://twitter.com/sub0ru/status/1613010300881760256?cxt=HHwWgMDTsdKUyOIsAAAA this tweet]] is anything to go by, it's become a DiscreditedMeme.[[/labelnote]]
*** Relatedly, the reason for the comic's creation (that Saster's style is so recognizable that one can tell the exact moment he took over the rest of "Shitno") became a often-parroted sentiment itself.
** "Okay, I got this simple explanation."[[labelnote:Explanation]][[https://youtu.be/7gyXhm_57yc A video dub]] made by ''Alexcodexx the Kinereader'' depicts Sonic.EXE/Xenophanes listing off the creepypasta mods that got cancelled (VideoGame/VsSonicExe, VideoGame/MistfulCrimsonMorning and this mod) while trying to keep a clear head, then saying outright to Mario.exe/MGYNT Mario that, above all odds, [[VideoGame/FridayNightFunkinMariosMadness his mod]] is still going, and is completely baffled by it, to which Mario.exe tells him to "Shut... the fuck... up.". Gold doesn't exactly help things when he taunts them both about who would be winning that game of TabletopGame/{{UNO}}, infuriating the pair of them.[[/labelnote]]
** [X] got me like [[labelnote:Explanation]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wZaq_fCXAk This animation]] where Boyfriend gets Silver to do the ''WesternAnimation/CowAndChicken'' dance in the slower part of "Insomnia" quickly rose to a trend of people making animations like this for other popular songs. Due to the usage of the ''Cow and Chicken'' dance, it also is a joint meme to the [[Memes/SonicTheHedgehog Classic Sonic and Tails dancing]] meme, which originated with a parody of the songs in the ''VideoGame/VsSonicExe'' mod. [[/labelnote]]
* {{Moe}}: Alexis.
* SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome: The fact that Boyfriend was able to [[spoiler:catch Missingno. between the events of “Missingno” and “Brimstone” and use it against Buried Alive’s team, albeit it briefly, is quite the feat considering the thing got boosted to being an InUniverse GlitchEntity.]]
* NightmareFuel: Being the GameMod equivalent of a HalloweenEpisode, being scary is the draw of the mod.
** Hypno himself is already rather unsettling during "Safety Lullaby" with his [[EvilSoundsDeep creepy voice]] and heavy AxCrazy StalkerWithoutACrush vibes throughout the song. Once "Left Unchecked" starts up, however, he undergoes a horrific transformation that [[BodyHorror leaves his manically twitching head separated from his body, connected by only his intestines.]] It get's worse in "Lost Cause", the final song introduced with the cancelled V2 build, where Hypno is a mound of flesh with his head on the top, and the songs tone makes it clear [[OneWingedAngel this is Hypno]] [[RageBreakingPoint reaching his limit with GF's stupidity.]]
** Somehow, [[Fanfic/PokemonLostSilver Gold's]] appearance in "Monochrome" manages to be even worse. Right off the bat, you're greeted by his [[EvilSoundsRaspy raspy, croaking voice]] before his [[BodyHorror graphically mutilated body]] comes out of the shadows, [[TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou staring right at the screen]] with empty eye sockets bleeding some sort of black substance. During the song itself, almost all of his poses have depict him writhing in agony and doing an inhumanly wide GhostlyGape, he frequently [[JumpScare jumpscares]] the player with a loud scream, and his similarly mutilated Celebi will occasionally appear to lower your health with Perish Song. [[spoiler: And when you think it can't get any worse, the V2 Build extends the song by having the Unown finish his transformation and tear his head off his torso even as he's pleading for it to end, causing the song to get far more intense, the song's name to go absolutely nuts, and the {{jump scare}}s to become far more frequent.]]
-->'''Gold''': NO MORE
** A few of the V2 Build songs qualify. Notably "Dissension", depticting Fanfic/PokemonStrangledRed's very own Steven descending into madness, and at the end of the song [[spoiler:shows Steven ''choking the life'' out of Mike]] and "Amusia", depicting DISABLED's desperate attempt to Sing going south.
** V2 presents a few game over sequences that prove exceptionally nightmarish. From [[spoiler:the haunting expression on Boyfriend when he fails Death Toll, to Buried Alive gnawing on Boyfriend's head when he fails Brimstone, to Red's Pikachu bursting out of Gold's abdomen when he fails Frostbite, to Silver's Feraligatr splattering Boyfriend's head into bloody chunks in Insomnia.]]
** Speaking of Pikachu, its entire design is a faithful, fully-drawn recreation of the sprites associated with the creepypasta and then some. Pikachu's not just succumbing to frostbite. It's become a jittery, bloodthirsty little beast, with most damage to its body seemingly done of its own accord because the only move it can - or wants to - use anymore is Pain Split.
** The Game Over for Purin is also rather creepy, showing Pico reduced to a gory mess with [[SoundtrackDissonance eerily cheery Pokemon Center music]], and when you quit you [[JumpScare get a closeup of his face]] before cutting to static.
** Shinto's transformation in "Shitno". Unlike many of the sprites of the mod, this one is seemingly animated in stop motion and it looks relatively realistic to the point where it is ''haunting''. Its creepy movements alongside her GlowingEyesOfDoom makes for one of the creepier opponents of the mod.
* NightmareRetardant:
** [[UncannyValley As freaky as Shinto is depicted in "Shitno" is]], the name of the song combined with her discolored and wet-looking appearance has viewers misinterpret Shinto as [[ToiletHumor living shit]].
** Silver in "Insomnia" has [[AndIMustScream a layer of flesh covering his mouth, something that clearly is bringing him pain.]] However, the way his right and up poses are drawn with shading around the mouth-skin makes it look more like he had giant flesh-colored lips.
* RecurringFanonCharacter: Unrelated to the mod itself, the user [=PixelAves=] [[https://gamebanana.com/mods/336227 created a remix of "Monochrome"]] and a new sprite sheet for Gold to go with it, based off the ''Fanfic/EasterEggSnowOnMtSilver'' creepypasta. This version of Generation 2's protagonist, named Blake, has been making rounds around the fandom for his similarly [[BodyHorror horrific appearance]], in addition to being [[TheWoobie just as tragic]] as Gold is, if not more so, due to Blake actually being ''alive'' and slowly freezing to death. [[HilariousInHindsight Humorously]], Blake not only appears in V2's "Frostbite", but it's implied that rather than being separate takes on the character, Blake ''[[CompositeCharacter was]]'' Gold prior to his death, with his appearance in "Monochrome" being from frostbite and Freakachu mauling him.
* {{Squick}}:
** Gold's design in general, with exposed bone sticking out of his bloody limb stumps and black goop (presumably [[TearsOfBlood monochromatic blood]]) streaming from his eyes. Gold's up pose in particular has him revealing a giant heart inside of his jaw. This [[SarcasmMode lovely]] image gets even more detail in his JumpScare, too.
** Gold's Celebi will sometimes pop out of the shadows with half of its head ripped off, allowing one to see its exposed brain.
* TearJerker:
** "Bygone Purpose" reveals that [[spoiler:Hypno used to have a trainer who was bullied [[DrivenToSuicide into suicide]], most likely turning Hypno into the monster we see now.]]
** Despite how horrific he looks the whole time, Gold's situation in "Monochrome" is also incredibly bleak. He's never had a bad intention in his life and still doesn't in death, yet he's forced into having his mutilated corpse puppeteered by Unown in order to sing with Boyfriend. Once he finally tries to object with a strained "NO MORE" halfway in, he instead [[spoiler:has his head brutally torn from his body, the Unown only gaining even further control over him]]. And to think all of this is happening to [[TroubledChild an 11-year-old boy!]]
** "Amusia", while terrifiying and also [[SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic hella rockin]], ends with a somber tune as DISABLED stands in a lone spotlight, most likely [[DespairEventHorizon having officially lost all hope as a result of once again being denied the ability to Sing.]]
* ThatOneAttack: Most of the opponents have unique gimmicks to their songs, all of which help elevate the songs from the average difficulty their charts present to [[NintendoHard intensely difficult challenges]], especially when they're enhanced in [[HarderThanHard Hell mode]]. This reaches the point that a difficulty was added that removes these gimmicks entirely (albeit one the game called [[EasyModeMockery Pussy mode]]).
** Hypno will try to hypnotize Girlfriend by swinging his pendulum to the beat of the music, which you're meant to counteract by pressing the spacebar at the same tempo. While this isn't too much of an issue in "Safety Lullaby", which is mercifully slow-paced, "Left Unchecked" really shows how intrusive this can become in a faster song, as the multi-tasking required is painfully difficult without being adept at hitting the arrows with only one hand. Worse yet, Hypno repeatedly advances the hypnosis with a distracting Psyshock, which could end a player too close to the edge, and a loud droning noise becomes more and more audible the further it is, which can lead a player to panic and fail. Hell mode amplifies this by doubling the tempo of the pendulum's swinging, demanding even more focus be diverted from hitting notes to prevent the hypnosis.
** During "Frostbite", there is a cold meter slowly filling up throughout the song which will kill both Blake and Typhlosion if it reaches the top (not unlike the Fear meter from VideoGame/VsSonicExe). In order to decrease the bar and ensure survival, the player needs to press space to cause Typhlosion to use Ember, which’ll heat both of them up. However, Typhlosion can only be used 10 times, as it’ll die after the tenth, thus leaving you without anything to stop the bar. On top of this, Red will drain your health regardless of if he’s singing, with him draining health even more depending on how high the cold meter is. And during the last part of the song, as one last cherry on top, Freakachu will frequently use Pain Split, dealing a considerable amount of health. [[ExaggeratedTrope Let us remind you this is merely the first song in the Lost Silver week]].
** In "Insomnia", if you get under 90% accuracy for even a mere 5 seconds, Silver’s Feraligatr will awaken and kill you, thus meaning you can barely mess up or else your head will get crushed. This gets even worse in Hell Mode, where the mechanic starts when you get under 99% accuracy, aka, you need to be an absolute champion at the game and not miss at all to get past. Fortunately, the song itself is pretty slow and more so just acts as an endurance test with both its length and mechanic, preventing itself from reaching ThatOneLevel territory.
** Gold frequently displays messages written in [[VideoGame/PokemonGoldAndSilver Unown]] during his turn, which have to be typed out in full before the player can hit notes again. These can be a minimum of 4 ("GOLD" and "BOO!") to upwards of ''22'' ("IM IN A FUCKING WHEELCHAIR"). Not only are these [[LuckBasedMission chosen at complete random]] and require the player to figure out what it says ''and'' type it out in a rather short time, but they also have to be familiar with each Unown's appearance and which letter/punctuation they correspond to. Certain Unown can be difficult to interpret at a moment's glance, too, such as [[https://cdn2.bulbagarden.net/upload/a/a3/HOME201G.png G]] and [[https://cdn2.bulbagarden.net/upload/5/5b/HOME201M.png M]]. Additionally, Celebi will appear occasionally throughout the song and [[MaximumHPReduction permanently reduce your max HP]] by a sizable chunk, giving you very little room for error. Hell mode adds additional messages that can also get very long, such as "WORK THAT PENDULUM" and "HES BRI ISH GET HIM", and [[FromBadToWorse now you have to deal with Hypno's pendulum as well]], which can easily get in the way of typing on top of everything mentioned above.
** Missingno starts to glitch up the arrows around the second half of his song, moving them to random places on the screen. It'll do this several times per turn, too, making it unclear where they'll end up once it's finished. It's hard enough to focus on this when it occurs just before your turn, but then Missingno starts moving them ''in the middle of your turn.'' This gets possibly the biggest enhancement in Hell mode, too; now the notes can rotate as well, forcing you to rely on nothing but the colors to tell which note must be hit, on top of the addition of Unown messages (one of which is guaranteed to be a stream of '''89''' question marks). [[InterfaceScrew Oh, and the game window moves around too.]]
** During "Brimstone", Muk will occasionally use Sludge Bomb in its section, [[InterfaceScrew blocking the view of incoming notes]]. As revealed in a Q&A, Gengar also had a planned mechanic, with notes with Gengar’s face that needed to be hit or else the notes would become more and more transparent.
** Throughout the entirety of "Death Toll", there's an extra button specifically made to deal with Hell Bell, as it will make some ghastly tolls to hinder your progress. This button must be pressed whenever Hell Bell make these noises in order prevent your health from getting a massive drain. It doesn't help that Hell Bell [[SpamAttack gets more spammy with its attack]] as the song goes on. Luckily, this mechanic is one of, if not ''the'' easiest mechanic in the mod to handle compared to other songs, since you only need to press the button to avoid Hell Bell and nothing else. However, in the song’s planned Hell Mode version, this mechanic would be paired alongside a contract which fills up every time you miss, and is an instant game over if filled fully.
** In "Pasta Night", you actually get to play one out of three characters: MX, Lord X, or Hypno himself. Choosing one of them makes you deal with the other two's gimmicks: [[InterfaceScrew MX uses his POW Block to mess with the note scroll by making it go up and down,]] Hypno uses his pendulum, which is basically a copy and paste of the mechanic in his songs, and Lord X...nothing. This makes Lord X's route the hardest out of the three, since you have to deal with ''two'' mechanics, while playing as MX or Hypno only makes you deal with one mechanic, that being each other's.
* ThatOneLevel:
** In spite of merely being the first song in the Lost Silver week, "Frostbite" is a major challenge. In spite of a surprisingly slow and calm chart, the three mechanics the song offers are nightmarish to get through. For starters, throughout the entire song, a cold meter is gradually filling up, which causes an instant game over if it reaches the top. This can be decreased by Typhlosion using Ember, however, Typhlosion can only be used 10 times, as it’ll die by the tenth. The player’s health is drained regardless of whether or not Red is singing, and can even cause a game over merely via it. Said health drain is primarily powered by the cold meter, with the strength being determined by how high the cold meter is. And to top all of this off, in the second part of the song, Freakachu will occasionally use Pain Split, dealing a considerable amount of health when used.
** Even with the huge amount of new songs in V2, "Monochrome" has continued to stick out as an absolute nightmare to get through. The chart itself isn't too bad to handle on its own, but the amount of gimmicks up Gold's sleeve can easily get overwhelming. As explained above, the main attraction is the Unown messages - randomized phrases typed out in the rough-to-understand Unown language that the player has very little time to decipher before suffering an instant blueball. Additionally, Celebi's Perish Song will only add to the stress of beating the chart itself, cutting your maximum HP in half by the time it gives the last song, and Gold's several {{jump scare}}s covering the screen will likely lead to a good few misses. It gets even worse during the second half; a good number of new, long-as-hell messages will begin to show up (one just a few seconds before Boyfriend starts singing, near-guaranteeing some extra misses), Gold starts jump-scaring way more frequently and on harder sections, and the whole thing has to be done with Perish Song having already maxed out. There's a very good chance this song will end up being the last hurdle the player has to get through before unlocking "Purin".
* UglyCute: Pixel Shinto is pretty cute, with her lopsided, derpy face and excited poses.
* ViewerGenderConfusion: Shinto is commonly mistaken as a male throughout the fandom, likely because her appearance doesn’t exactly scream “female”, and the actual Hypno in the mod's main story is clearly male.
* TheWoobie:
** With the way Gold's body contorts and writhes, combined with [[Fanfic/PokemonLostSilver his origins]], it's hard not to feel sorry for him having to fight Boyfriend. Notably, should you lose, he forgoes brutalizing Boyfriend (you don't even hear BF's skeleton crack like it usually does, as the music cuts out) and instead simply leaves, as if he's taking the chance to [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere escape.]] It somehow gets even ''worse'' in the second version, as [[spoiler:the Unown end up ''ripping his head off'' in order to fully control him, despite his pleas for it to stop.]] His face during the second phase looks especially pained. Considering him and Blake [[CompositeCharacter are the same person now]], he also ended up on Mt. Silver, watched his Pokémon die one by one, and ended up getting killed by Red's feral Pikachu.
** Girlfriend. Lady's just trying to find her boyfriend, ends up coming across his kidnapper and [[DownerEnding suffers the same fate he did]].
** In the cancelled build, it's revealed that [[spoiler:Hypno even suffers from this, having started his terror after the death of his trainer. With this in mind, and the fact he likely started this terror out of vengeance on those who wronged his trainer, it's hard not to feel sorry for everything he went through, as much of an EldritchAbomination as he is.]]
** Gray, the protagonist of both "Shinto" and "Shitno". Being trapped in a bootleg game is already bad enough, but said game has an UnintentionallyUnwinnable battle against a Hypno {{expy}}, and when he actually captures her… she accuses him of cheating and presumably kills him.
** DISABLED was just a Wigglytuff that had the misfortune of becoming the test subject of someone's attempt to make a JokeCharacter for their team. It goes a step further within the mod, as the end of the song doesn't adapt the story's twist of DISABLED trying to attack the player (though this would likely have been the death screen), instead ending on the Wigglytuff sitting in darkness in complete despair.
