!!Dreamer from a Distance provides examples of:
* AnimalTalk: All the characters are animals that can speak to each other.
* ArcSymbol: The upside-down triangle, sometimes with a small circle next to or underneath it.
* BeneathTheEarth: Elidanne is a city right underneath the surface of the ground. Everyone lives underground because the wind aboveground is too strong to build anything stable.
* CivilizedAnimal: Other than the characters being animals, the world is pretty similar to what the civilized human world is like, such as wearing clothes/accessories. There are small differences, such as people sometimes using tools with their mouths.
* DragonsAreDivine: Dragons are either gods or prophets, depending on who you ask.
* DreamLand: The Dream Realm is a realm where dreams physically exist as orbs of light floating around the space.
* DreamSequence: Inu visits many dreams and nightmares of other characters.
* DreamWalker: Dreamcatchers such as Inu are able to enter other people's dreams, though they cannot directly interact with it.
* FantasticRacism: Canines and felines tend to be suspicious of each other.
* FunctionalMagic: Magic is used through magical tools. Technology, such as trains, depend on and run on magic in the form of electricity.
* HeadsOrTails: In the beginning of the story, Inu rejects the outcome of a coin flip, and goes with the heads option rather than tails.
* HumanlikeAnimalAging: All the characters refer to their ages in terms of human age (for example, Inu is 15 years old, which makes him a young teenager).
* PiecesOfGod: The cosmology of this fictional universe is that all life becomes a part of one whole conscious being - the Universe itself, through what is called the Conduit. Basically UsefulNotes/Pantheism.
* PlotMandatedFriendshipFailure: Downplayed. It happens briefly between Inu and Delta, and it's resolved in the same episode!
* SupernaturalSensitivity: Dreamcatchers see lights flicker whenever someone nearby is dreaming.
