Yui Kusanagi is an average high school girl who also works as a {{miko}} on her family's shrine. One day, while she's at the shrine's warehouse, she finds a mysterious CoolSword, Ame-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi, that takes her to another world - a garden created by [[Myth/GreekMythology the mighty Zeus]] for the gods to live in. In the middle of the garden, there's a high school that some of the gods attend. Zeus gives Yui the task to attend the school and teach the gods about [[ThePowerOfLove love]] in a time where the worship of gods is slowly receding. Thus, in the school she meets Apollon and Hades from Myth/GreekMythology, Tsukito and Takeru from Myth/JapaneseMythology, Loki and Balder from Myth/NorseMythology, and Anubis and Thoth from Myth/EgyptianMythology. However, there's a problem - she doesn't know anything about love, and if she refuses, she'll be punished by Zeus.

A visual novel for the Platform/PlayStationPortable released by Nippon Ichi and Broccoli (after the success of the latter with ''VisualNovel/UtaNoPrincesama'') with art by Kazuki Yone (of ''VisualNovel/{{Hakuouki}}'' fame) in 2013, it was adapted into an anime by Creator/BrainsBase in 2014. A sequel to the original game called ''Kamigami no Asobi Infinite'' was released on April 21, 2016 for both the PSP and Platform/PlaystationVita.

A translation project of the game is on the making, and can be found [[http://sweetremiks.tumblr.com/kamiaso here]].

!!This visual novel and its anime adaptation provide examples of:

%% * AchillesHeel
%%* ActionGirl: Yui learned swordsmanship at a young age and has kept practicing it since then.%%Doesn't explain how Yui is an action girl. She could be a FauxActionGirl for all we know.
%%* AdaptationalVillainy:
* AllMythsAreTrue: The characters are gods from various mythologies such as [[Myth/ClassicalMythology Greek]], Myth/{{Japanese|Mythology}}, Myth/{{Norse|Mythology}}, and Myth/{{Egyptian|Mythology}}.
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Loki was shunned by most of the other gods as a child because he was always [[TricksterGod playing tricks on people.]]
* AllPartOfTheShow: During the school play, Thoth's script gets soaked so he has to improvise his narration, which [[LemonyNarrator makes it more interesting considering all the chaos that ensued]]
%% * AndTheAdventureContinues: The ending of the anime.
%% * AnimeOfTheGame: Began airing in April 2014.
* AttemptedRape: A PG version happens in the anime.[[spoiler: Two times in episode 7, with Loki planning on doing ''something'' to Yui but stops when she believes he is implying that he wants to be friends and becomes happy with him. The second time is at the end of the episode with Balder [[ForcefulKiss trying to force a kiss on Yui]] in an attempt to make her "only see him." Loki prevents Balder that time.]]
* AttentionWhore: Loki, throughout the series, but especially in episode 10. While the others (Hades, Balder, Apollon, Takeru, and Tsukito) want the prince role in ''Literature/{{Cinderella}}'' because they all like Yui (who they want to play Cinderella), but then Apollon mentions that the Prince is the "star that guides Cinderella to her happy ending". Loki hears the word "Star" and suddenly becomes interested. He then proceeds to derail the play after he gets a small part.
%% * BeachEpisode: The third episode.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: In the game,[[spoiler: both Balder and Apollon on their respective routes, Loki's and Hades', though this is not their fault, as they lose control of their powers for external influences.]] The anime only portrayed [[spoiler: Balder's case.]]
* BreatherEpisode: Episode 10, in which the students perform a SchoolPlay of ''Literature/{{Cinderella}}'' after a couple of comparably angst-heavy episodes, followed immediately after by the main conflict of the show.
%% * BroodingBoyGentleGirl: The relation Yui has with some of the gods, such as Hades and Takeru.
* BroughtDownToNormal: Zeus does this to all the student Gods so that they'll be forced to stay in the school as humans.
%% * CastFullOfPrettyBoys: Seeing as it's an OtomeGame, it comes with the territory.
* ChainedHeat: The main plot during Tsukito's route in the game has him chained to Yui via magic rings, thanks to Loki's trickster ways, and are told that they'll only come off if they become a couple and eventually fall for each other. This was adapted, but downplayed, in the anime.
%%* ChekhovsGun: The Ame-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi in the anime. Also, on a darker note [[spoiler:the fact that Baldr can hurt himself.]]%%Doesn't explain how either is a Checkhov's Gun
* CrazyJealousGuy: Balder's route has him being extremely possessive of Yui and dislikes seeing her interact with Loki in a manner he thinks she should only interact with him. In the anime, Loki manifests some shades of this when Balder starts showing interest in Yui.
* CrossOverCosmology:
** The point of the game itself: it is [[AllMythsAreTrue a giant crossover of gods]] from different mythologies... [[InSpace in]] {{high school| AU}}!
** In a straighter sense, the video game has an inter-company crossover with ''Killer and Strawberry'' for both series' AprilFoolsDay pranks. Apollo, Hades, and Balder swapped places with the latter game's three leading men.
* CruelToBeKind: Hades pushes others away because his curse brings misery on those who get close to him.
%% * DarkIsEvil
%% * ADayInTheLimelight: The anime follows a pattern of episodes like this to create a BalancedHarem, while developing a plot.
%% * DemonicPossession: [[spoiler: Cassandra, as a ghost, does this to Yui with her permission in the anime]]
%% * DePower: Zeus seals the gods' powers for the duration of the school year...
%% * DisasterDominoes: How the end of the play gets ruined in episode 10.
* DivineDate: All of Yui's love interests are gods from various pantheons.
%% * DoItYourselfThemeTune: For both the anime opening and ending.
* [[CatBoy Dog Boy]]: Anubis' hair resembles dog ears and [[ExpressiveHair they move]] as ExpressiveEars would.
%% * DrivenToSuicide: In the anime adaptation, [[spoiler: Cassandra after Apollon gives her the power to see the future]]
%% * DudeLooksLikeALady: Akira aka [[Myth/JapaneseMythology Amaterasu]].
* DysfunctionalFamily: We have two main examples.
** The Myth/GreekMythology family, to the surprise of no one. Apollon, Dionysus and Hades get along wonderfully with each other, but as soon as Zeus is added to the mix things get dysfunctional. Hades hates him and Apollon is cold towards him. Zeus can't seem to bond with any of them even if he has their best interests in mind.
** The Myth/JapaneseMythology family issues is the main focus of Tsukito's route in the game. Akira can't get along with Tsukito or Takeru, Tsukito is unable to understand family bonds at all and Takeru just wants to fix their problems.
* FacelessMasses: The other students aside from Yui and the gods. Justified in that they are dolls created by Zeus, and they do not possess a soul.
* {{Fanservice}}:
** The guys get {{Shirtless Scene}}s such as during the BeachEpisode, in which some of their swimsuits are [[{{Fundoshi}} more revealing than others]].
** Several scenes in the ending theme, one of which shows several of the gods with only a [[ModestyBedsheet sheet]] over them.
** Thoth leaves most of his shirt buttons undone.
** Several of their god forms outfits leave little to the imagination, case in point: the Greek gods and Loki.
%% * FantasticRacism: Loki was discriminated during his childhood by all except Balder and Thor.
%% * FieryRedhead: Loki.
%% * AFriendToAllLivingThings
%% * Getting Crap Past The Radar: Due to overwhelming and persistent misuse, GCPTR is on-page examples only until 01 June 2021. If you are reading this in the future, please check the trope page to make sure your example fits the current definition.
* GreenEyedMonster:
** Balder doesn't take it nicely when Yui starts spending time with Loki. In the anime adaptation, Loki gets jealous of Balder's closeness with Yui, as he doesn't consider her important enough to gain their trust or be with Balder. (Among [[EndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt other reasons.]])
** Apollon was jealous after seeing Yui with Balder.
%% * GuiltComplex: In the anime, [[spoiler: Apollon for causing Cassandra's death,]]
%% * HaremGenre: A "Reverse" Harem with Yui as the lead.
* HeartIsAnAwesomePower: The basic plot of the game is that Yui, a mere mortal, is able to help each god solve their own problems and 'graduate', avoiding their terrible fates, thanks to the sheer power of the love a human heart can provide.
%% * HeterosexualLifePartners: Loki, Balder and Thor, with emphasis on the first two.
%% * HowWeGotHere: Episode 10 begins with the gods passed or dead on the floor and covered in what appears to be blood.
* ILoveYouBecauseICantControlYou: Balder thinks Yui is special because she sees him as a person and isn't immediately drawn to his light like other people are.
* ImplausibleDeniability: Yui repeats some of the things Loki said to her, such as saying they will "make memories together" and that Balder belongs to him. He denies saying them, even after Yui points out that she heard him say them.
* IncrediblyInconvenientDeity: Yui Kusanagi is summoned by Zeus to [[HaremGenre "teach the gods about the human heart"]] for a year, in a school in a magical realm. She ends up getting along with them, but, as Apollo notices, all of the gods were brought there with companions from their [[CrossoverCosmology respective countries]], but Yui was brought there alone. All of them recognize that it was a pretty nasty move on Zeus' part (not that it's out of character for Zeus).
* JapaneseSchoolClub: This is how the game separates the plausible routes. If you choose to join the Student Council you may choose between Apollon, Tsukito and Balder, the members of said council. If you decide to go for the Club Activities route, you get Hades, Takeru or Loki. The clubs each character joins change according to the route pursued.
* TheKlutz: Balder, who falls down [[EstablishingCharacterMoment just as Yui meets him for the first time]].
%% * LettingHerHairDown: Yui while [[spoiler: being possessed by Cassandra.]]
%% * LightIsGood
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Loki didn't realize Yui was a human until long after everyone else did both in the anime and in his Love Route. Balder [[YouDidntAsk didn't realize that Loki was unaware.]]
%% * LongHairedPrettyBoy:
%% ** Some of them have long hair, but Balder is the most prominent case.
%% ** All of them (with the exception of the Egyptian Gods) get long hair in their god forms.
%% * LoopholeAbuse
%% * TheLostLenore: Only in the anime [[spoiler: Cassandra to Apollon]]
%% * TheNicknamer: Apollon and Loki are the main cases. Thoth doesn't shy away from giving insulting nicknames to the other gods, either.
%% * NoblewomansLaugh: Takeru as Cinderella's step-sister in the school play.
%% * NotHimself:
%% ** [[spoiler: Both Balder and Apollon when they lose control of their powers]].
%% ** Apollon also shows a case of this on Episode 9 of the anime.
%%* OnceAnEpisode: An angry/annoyed Thoth [[NoSenseOfPersonalSpace invades Yui's personal space]] by pinning her against a wall.
* OurGhostsAreDifferent: In the anime's adaptation of the game plot, [[spoiler: Cassandra was BarredFromTheAfterlife (never made it to TheUnderworld) due to UnfinishedBusiness with Apollon, though she wanted to help him rather than [[{{Revenge}} hurt]] him, as ghosts are sometimes known to do. She was able to [[DemonicPossession possess]] Yui and talk through her]]
%% * PlayingATree
%% * PluckyGirl: Yui.
* PowerIncontinence: Their PowerLimiter accessories keep the gods from using their powers voluntarily, but being under emotional distress can cause them to use it uncontrollably and break the accessory, which is clearly against the rules, as Takeru learns the hard way.
* PowerLimiter: Zeus sealed everyone's powers with fashionable accessories that the gods cannot remove.
%% * PungeonMaster: Hades. Most of the time no one else gets them.
%% * RodentsOfUnusualSize
* RunningGag:
** Hades wondering if he's to blame for any instance of misfortune.
** Thoth doing a one armed kabedon on Yui whenever they meet.
** [[BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine A: [completely incorrect statement] B: [correction]]] A: "Yeah, you could also call it that." (between Melissa and Yui in ep. 5, and twice with Apollon in ep. 8)
%% * ShootTheShaggyDog
%% * SiblingTriangle
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Yui is the sole ([[FacelessMasses real]]) girl in all the school, despite the great amount of goddesses that could appear. Justified in that this is an [[RomanceGame Otome Game]].
%% * StakingTheLovedOne
* StepfordSmiler: [[spoiler: Apollon is hiding a lot of suffering behind his smile. Similarly, Balder never stops smiling even while [[DrivenToSuicide committing suicide]].]]
%% * StudentCouncilPresident: Apollon.
%% * SugarAndIcePersonality: Tsukito.
%% * SuperpoweredEvilSide
%% * TaremeEyes
* ThrowItIn: [[invoked]] During the school play, Thoth's script gets wet so he has to improvise his narration, which [[LemonyNarrator makes it more interesting considering all the chaos that ensued]]
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Hades loves daifuku because it means good luck. Strawberry Daifuku makes him question if it should be allowed to feel that much happiness at once.
%% * TricksterGod: Loki, of course.
* TransformationSequence: Only in the anime, as shown [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srufgn7J8zg here]]. Apollon's is shown in the first episode, and the others also transform in the last episode.
%% * {{Tsundere}}: Takeru.
%% * TsurimeEyes
%% * TwelveEpisodeAnime
* TheUnderworld: Inevitable mentioned, as Hades is a main character. During his love route in the game, [[spoiler: Yui has to go to the Underworld to get him back. It's not pretty.]]
* UnequalPairing: [[spoiler: Since Cassandra was a human, Apollon gave her some of his power to make their relationship equal]]. In his main route in the game [[spoiler: Anubis seeks a way to make Yui immortal in order to be with her in equal lifespans.]]
* VerbalTic: Apollon likes to repeat words, justified in that he's the god of prophecies, and those being as precious as they are, he picked the habit of repeating them twice to avoid confusion or forgetfulness.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: Zeus transforms into a child to prove his powers to Yui. In the game, he chooses this form in order not to appear too imposing or intimidating to her.
%% * WhatTheHellHero: Balder to [[GreenEyedMonster Loki]] for being mean to Yui.
%% * YinYangBomb
