Urrezko Kaiola is a multimedia AlternateRealityGame that began in April of 2020. It stretches across a website, a video game, six Twitter accounts ([[https://twitter.com/Abby36823709 Abby]], [[https://twitter.com/Lehiakide1 Lehiakide]], [[https://twitter.com/Abusari76380222 Abusari]], [[https://twitter.com/Haizea01419321 Haizea]], [[https://twitter.com/Simulacra_1337 Simulacra-1337]],[[https://twitter.com/izoztutako Izoztutako]]), one [[https://urrezko-kaiola-berri-taldea.tumblr.com Tumblr blog]], and [[https://reddit.com/r/urrezkokaiola a subreddit.]]

It centers around a video game called Urrezko Kaiola that has ArtificialIntelligence characters who each have their own role to fulfill in the game world. One character, Kara, begins decompiling each chapter to release to the world:
* [[https://urrka-terminal.host Chapter 0, the Tutorial Chapter]], was released 3/30/2020.
* Chapter 1, the [[GreenHillZone Plains Chapter]], was released 4/3/2020.
* Chapter 2, the [[ShiftingSandLand Desert Chapter]], was released 4/11/2020.
* Chapter 3, the [[OddNameOut Hotel]] [[EldritchLocation Kaiola]], was released 9/5/2020.
* Chapter 4, the [[LevelsTakeFlight Sky Chapter]], was released 9/19/2020.
* Chapter 5, the [[UnexpectedlyDarkEpisode Spooky]] [[DuelingPlayerCharacters Chapter]], was released 12/5/2020.
* Chapter 6, the [[SlippySlideyIceWorld Ice Chapter]], was released 3/8/2021.
* Chapter 7, the [[WretchedHive Urban]] [[MegaCity Chapter]], was released 9/16/2021.
* Chapter 8, the Jungle Chapter, is planned to be released

Meanwhile, other characters named Abby and Lance want to escape the computer and get onto the internet. The players must choose who to side with, and discover what is going on in the strange world of the odd game.

!! Urrezko Kaiola contains examples of:
[[foldercontrol]]
[[folder: # to D]]
* EleventhHourSuperpower: In Chapter 2, Abby gives you access to the [[TheTease Flirt]] skill for the final battle. Why is this a superpower? The boss is Lehiakide, who is AllergicToLove.
* AdamSmithHatesYourGuts: Iruzurra, the sole shopkeeper in the game, is this trope personified; he gouges the prices of things that you need to progress in the story, but he also deflates the local currency to make finding money harder.
* AnachronismStew: Urrezko Kaiola was finished in 2014 InUniverse, but it contains remixes of music and [[ShoutOut/UrrezkoKaiola references]] from much later (including ''{{VideoGame/Undertale}}'', ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys'', ''VideoGame/YandereSimulator'', etc.) This is [[JustifiedTrope justified]] by [[spoiler: Iklusea in Chapter 5. The world has been running on a GroundhogDayLoop for a long time now. This explains things such as the CallForward references to media made after Urrezko Kaiola supposedly was, and the advanced technology of the master computer.]]
* AndIMustScream: What being "corrupted" is for these characters. Thankfully, they get better after the master computer reboots.
** [[spoiler: This is also the fate of Ross Blackwood.]]
* AngelsDevilsAndSquid: Reflected in the themes of the [[spoiler: Admin Terminal]]. Kara is the angel [[InsistentTerminology (as she is so keen to remind you)]], [[spoiler: Iklusea]] is the devil, and [[GreaterScopeVillain The Shadow]] and [[VirtualGhost Simulacra]] in general are the squid. PlayedWith in that SatanIsGood in this universe, and Kara's angelic status is under debate: [[JerkAss Simulacra-1337]], at the very least, seems to think she is a [[TheFairFolk fairy]].
* AntiVillain / SlidingScaleOfAntiVillains: Urrezko Kaiola is, by and large, Oops! All [[AntiVillain Anti Villains]], so this was inevitable.
** [[NobleDemon Type I]]:
*** Abusari, who is FauxAffablyEvil and at least LawfulEvil.
*** Haizea, who only attacks Simulacra and friends (and later the players) because they invaded her home.
*** Ilargia is only doing her job, but is ruthless towards any invaders.
** [[WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds Type II]]:
*** Lehiakide, who only becomes actively antagonistic due to their programming and WhatTheHellPlayer moments.
*** Ross Blackwood is a darker variant. He's been TrappedInAnotherWorld that runs on GroundhogDayLoop for ''years'', and his only hope of escape is [[GreaterScopeVillain The Shadow]].
*** [[spoiler: [[{{Yandere}} Tximista]] goes into this territory after her backstory is revealed.]]
*** The Shadow themself, arguably, after Chapter 3's big reveal. [[spoiler: The Shadow was deemed too powerful by the creator of the game, and DummiedOut.]]
** [[WellIntentionedExtremist Type III]]:
*** Kara, who ''is'' the only one fighting against the GreaterScopeVillain, but [[SecretWar the secrecy involved]] makes her distinctly untrustworthy to other characters.
** [[DesignatedVillain Type]] [[InUniverse IV]]:
*** [[DeconstructedTrope Deconstructed]] with Lance. He is literally a DesignatedVillain by his programming: he ''has'' to fight the players [[OnceAnEpisode once a chapter]].
*** Abby fits here because [[spoiler: she's the designated final boss of Urrezko Kaiola. How this will come about is currently unknown.]]
*** [[spoiler: Iklusea]] is this, InUniverse at least. [[spoiler: She's Urrezko Kaiola's equivalent of ''{{Satan}}''. However, she's actually [[SatanIsGood one of the nicer characters.]] ]]
* AnyoneCanDie: Boy howdy...
** [[spoiler: [[DumbBlonde Goizane]] is killed by Abusari.]]
** [[spoiler: [[AssholeVictim Abusari]] gets his comeuppance at the hands of ''the players.'']]
** [[spoiler: [[TheBrute Basati]] and [[EvilGenius Zelatatu]] are killed by [[{{Yandere}} Tximista]].]]
** [[WeHardlyKnewYe Not ten minutes after their introduction,]] [[spoiler:[[MauveShirt Lehen, Bigarren, and Hirugarren]] are killed by Ilargia.]]
* ApocalypseHow: Releasing [[GreaterScopeVillain The Shadow]] could potentially cause a ApocalypseHow/Class0 or ApocalypseHow/Class1.
* ArcSymbol: Ross's key, which is the answer to all of his puzzles.
* ArcVillain:
** Chapter 1: A BigBadEnsemble between [[TheDragon Lance]] and the [[MookMaker Clone Generator.]]
** Chapter 2: [[{{Tsundere}} Lehiakide.]]
** Chapter 3: [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Abusari.]]
** Chapter 4: [[{{Jerkass}} Simulacra-1337]] aka [[VirtualGhost Ross Bot]] and his PsychoRangers, [[TheStarscream Haizea,]] [[TheBrute Basati,]] [[EvilGenius Zelatatu,]] and Tximista.
** Chapter 5: A BigBadEnsemble between [[{{Yandere}} Tximista]] and either Amets and Martzel or Nikole and Aintzane, depending on what avatar you picked.
** Chapter 6: [[AnIcePerson Izozt]][[UngratefulBitch utako]] with CoDragons [[BlowYouAway Haizea]] and [[ShockAndAwe Tximista]].
** Chapter 7: GreaterScopeVillain [[OurVampiresAreDifferent Erlojua]] with [[TimeMaster Ilargia]] as TheHeavy.
* ArcWords: "Nothing is to be trusted."
* BadPowersBadPeople:
** Abusari has the power to redact information, and is a CorruptCorporateExecutive.
** Simulacra-1337 has the power of HollywoodHacking, and is a {{Jerkass}}.
** While its inherent 'evil' is debatable, the power to do anything a video game shopkeeper can is definitely morally ambiguous, and Iruzurra [[AdamSmithHatesYourGuts uses it for all it's worth]].
* BadPowersGoodPeople:
** [[spoiler: Zirikatu]] also has redacting powers (in his case, TheScottishTrope), but is a decent guy.
** [[spoiler: Considering how [[InternetJerk the internet is portrayed in this franchise]], Lehiakide's power to draw strength from it qualifies as this.]]
* BerserkButton:
** Do NOT misgender Lehiakide. In fact, Lehiakide is so HotBlooded it’s more like a berserk switchboard.
** For Simulacra-1337, do ''not'' imply he's an ArtificialIntelligence. Or human, for that matter. And don't say that [[ArtificialIntelligence AI]] or humans are superior to [[VirtualGhost Simulacra]]. To a lesser extent, don't imply he and Ross Blackwood are one and the same. [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking And don't deprive him of cigarettes.]]
** For Abby and Lance, Kara's mere existence.
** Conversely, for Kara it's mentions of [[BigBad The Shadow]], and [[spoiler: also her sister.]]
** For Erlojua, it's hurting Ilargia, or vice versa.
* BigBad: The Shadow is this for the whole series, backed up by his [[TheDragon dragon]] Ross Blackwood.
* BilingualBonus: The Basque names.
** Nikole means [[{{Foreshadowing}} "we are stuck"]]
** Aintzane means [[TheDeterminator "to keep going"]]
** Amets means "dream"
** Martzel means "hammer of justice"
** Goizane means "High Fairy"
** Lehiakide means "Rival" or "Antagonist"
** Abusari means [[CorruptCorporateExecutive "abusive"]]
** Izoztutako means [[AnIcePerson "frozen"]]
** Basati means [[BloodKnight "savage", "wild", or "brutal"]]
** Zelatatu means "spy"
** Tximista means [[ShockAndAwe "lightning"]]
** Haizea means [[BlowYouAway "wind"]]
** Iruzurra means [[AdamSmithHatesYourGuts "scam"]]
** Euritsu means "rain"
** Trebea means [[TotallyRadical "skilled" or "competent"]]
** Edarialko means [[TheAlcoholic "drink"]]
** [[spoiler: Zirikatu]] means [[TheTease "tease"]]
** Amorratu means [[TheChewToy annoyed or angry]].
** Lehen, Bigarren, and Hirgarren mean [[MauveShirt first, second, and third]] respectively.
** The Violinist's true name, [[spoiler: Biolina, means [[HisNameReallyIsBarkeep "violin"]]]].
** The Keyboardist's true name, [[spoiler: Sintizadorea, means [[HisNameReallyIsBarkeep "synthesizer"]]]].
** The Vocalist's true name, [[spoiler: Sopranoa, means [[HisNameReallyIsBarkeep "soprano"]]]].
** Ilargia means "moon", while Erlojua means "clock". Their house [[InUniverse is called]] [[IdiosyncraticShipNaming ClockMoon Mansion]].
** Urrun means [[EruditeStoner "far"]].
** Zilarra means [[WhiteHairBlackHeart "silver"]].
** Loratzen means [[GreenThumb "blooming"]].
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Abby, Kara, Izoztutako, Tximista, the list goes on...
* ButThouMust: You are required to [[KickTheDog fight Izoztutako]] by invading her room. There's no other way to get the keys you need to continue forward.
* CainAndAbel: Kara and her sister, [[spoiler: Iklusea. The former trapped the latter in the Nightmare Realm, which is this world's equivalent of hell.]]
* CharacterBlog: Abby’s Twitter, Lance’s Reddit account, the subreddit, Lehiakide’s Twitter, and Abusari's Twitter are a major part of the story.
* TheComputerIsACheatingBastard: Multiple characters can break the rules of the game world.
** Abby can access DummiedOut items, including a phone.
** Lehiakide and Abusari can move entire areas of the game world around.
** [[spoiler: In the end of Chapter 3, Abusari makes himself completely invincible.]]
** At the end of Chapter 4, [[spoiler: Simulacra-1337 not only completely heals himself, he stops the music and downloads an {{Music/Eminem}} song to play for Phase 2 of his fight.]]
** Izoztutako modifies all of Chapter 6 to make it NintendoHard.
* ContrastingSequelAntagonist:
** [[{{Tsundere}} Lehiakide]] to [[TheLancer Lance]]: The latter is an IneffectualSympatheticVillain, the former is a LightningBruiser.
** [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Abusari]] to [[{{Tsundere}} Lehiakide]] (and Lance): Lehiakide and Lance rely exclusively on their physical abilites, while Abusari is a statistically weak NonActionGuy who only stands a chance in a fight using TheComputerIsACheatingBastard. Also, the latter two are [[AntiVillain comparatively sympathetic]] while Abusari is a KnightOfCerebus with very little audience sympathy.
** [[{{Jerkass}} Simulacra]][[VirtualGhost -1337]] to Abusari: Abusari is statistically weak while Ross Bot is the strongest enemy in terms of raw stats faced so far. Abusari [[IWorkAlone works alone]] while Ross Bot has his FiveManBand. Abusari is FauxAffablyEvil while Ross Bot is a complete {{Jerkass}} and makes no effort to hide it.
** [[spoiler: [[DuelingPlayerCharacters The Avatars]]]] to every previous antagonist: While each other antagonist had an arc on Twitter or other social media before their respective chapter released, [[spoiler: the Avatars]] did not and came with no warning.
** [[{{Yandere}} Tximista]] to Simulacra-1337: While Simulacra is motivated by ItAmusedMe, Tximista is motivated by [[spoiler: her love for Lehiakide.]] In addition, Tximista is a GlassCannon while Ross Bot is a LightningBruiser.
** Izoztutako to Simulacra-1337: While Simulacra-1337 is self-aware of his [[{{Jerkass}} jerkassery]], Izoztutako is a SmallNameBigEgo.
** Ilargia and Erlojua to [[spoiler: Zirikatu]] and Izoztutako: While both are a PowerCouple in an UnequalPairing, the former couple's relationship is much more healthy and much less belligerent. In addition, while it is possible to turn [[spoiler: Zirikatu]] against Izoztutako, [[UndyingLoyalty Ilargia stays loyal to Erlojua, to a fault]].
* ControllableHelplessness: Bizkarroi is unkillable, and will defeat your party no matter what, but you still enter a fight rather than getting an instant game over.
* CrapsaccharineWorld: '''Majorly.''' It seems to be a happy {{Animesque}} RPG. In reality, [[TitleDrop it's a]] GildedCage for the ArtificialIntelligence trapped inside it. Despite WhiteAndGreyMorality, this is not a very good place to live.
* CrutchCharacter: [[{{Tsundere}} Lehiakide]], in Chapters 4 and 5. Post-HeelFaceTurn, they've gotten a lot stronger, with [[ShockAndAwe Thunderbolt]], [[PowerfulButInaccurate Backup Bash]], and the ability to use kunai as a weapon of choice.
* CuttingOffTheBranches: The ending chosen by the most participants is considered the canon ending, for example: Lehiakide being defeated non-violently, and Simulacra-1337 deciding to take over the Sky Realm because he didn't get cigarretes.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindows: Aintzane, Zelatatu, and [[spoiler: Biolina]] (red eyes and hair), [[GoldenSuperMode Super Haizea]] and Tximista (yellow/golden eyes and hair), Izoztutako, Lance, and Lehen (blue eyes and hair), Kara (purple eyes and hair), Iklusea (purple eyes and lilac hair), Bizkarroi (black hair and dark grey eyes).
* DarkMagicalGirl:
** PlayedWith by [[TheStoic Kara]]. She has the [[AntiVillain anti-villainous]] personality and [[WellDoneDaughterGal attachment to a 'parental' figure]]. Ironically, the MagicalGirl she faces off with is [[spoiler: [[CainAndAbel her sister,]] [[{{Satan}} Iklusea]]]].
** Played straight by [[{{Yandere}} Tximista]]. She plays GoodPowersBadPeople straight. [[spoiler: Like most examples of this trope, she's a BrokenBird. In her case, it's being driven insane by only being a SatelliteLoveInterest and then being seperated from Lehiakide.]]
* DarkReprise: "Room" gets reprised later as "Room..." when you get a room in [[EldritchLocation The Hotel Kaiola]].
* DeconstructedCharacterArchetype: Obviously, given [[NoFourthWall the meta nature of the game]].
** The Avatars deconstruct PlayerCharacter, of all things. During Chapter 5, [[spoiler: Two of the Avatars you didn't choose (Amets and Martzel if you picked Nikole or Aintzane; Nikole and Aintzane if you picked Amets or Martzel) become the ArcVillain [[GreenEyedMonster because you didn't choose them.]]]]
** Lance deconstructs [[DesignatedVillain the fourth type]] of AntiVillain. While he personally holds no malice towards the players, his constant insistence on fighting the players makes him more of an annoyance than anything else.
** Kara deconstructs BigGood. While she ''is'' the only one fighting against the GreaterScopeVillain, but [[SecretWar the secrecy involved]] makes her distinctly untrustworthy to other characters.
** Zelatatu deconstructs InsufferableGenius. While his puzzles (especially the quiz) are pretty difficult, SaveScumming, which he has no way to protect against, make them trivial.
** Iruzurra deconstructs AdamSmithHatesYourGuts. Sure, the ''player'' has to deal with his shenannagins and has no way out of them, but every other character looks down on him for it, making him TheFriendNobodyLikes.
** Tximista deconstructs SatelliteLoveInterest and {{Yandere}}; [[spoiler: She was designed to be [[{{Tsundere}} Lehiakide's]] LoveInterest in a [[AnotherSideAnotherStory bonus mode]] that focused entirely on Lehiakide, but both her character and the mode were [[DummiedOut scrapped early in development]]. In fact, it was scrapped so early that Tximista's character [[FlatCharacter was not developed much at all]] beyond being Lehiakide's LoveInterest. Then she was banished to the Infinite Field.]]
** Izoztutako deconstructs GodSaveUsFromTheQueen. Because her subjects are more than a little fed up of her [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything lockdown of all non-essential personell]], they're more than willing to help you out.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Lehiakide.
* DevelopersForesight: InUniverse, [[spoiler: Simulacra-7779]] is an AnthropromophicPersonification of this trope.
* DemotedToDragon: InUniverse, this happened to Haizea when Ross Bot performed his HostileShowTakeover of chapter 4. [[TheStarscream She wasn't happy about it.]]
* DuelingPlayerCharacters: During Chapter 5, [[spoiler: two of the Avatars you did not choose become the antagonists.]]
* DuelBoss: Between [[spoiler: Lehiakide and Tximista near the end of chapter 5.]]
* TheDragon:
** Lance to Abby.
** [[spoiler: Ross Blackwood to The Shadow]]
* DramaPreservingHandicap: When [[DuelBoss Lehiakide and Tximista fight one on one]] in Chapter 5, Lehiakide wakes up injured, drugged, and tired. It's this trope because Lehiakide is the CrutchCharacter of the party and would absolutely wipe the floor with GlassCannon Tximista otherwise.
[[/folder]]
[[folder: E to L]]
* EldritchLocation: The Hotel Kaiola in Chapter 3. It has AlienGeometries, time vortexes, and constant glitching.
* ElegantGothicLolita: Abby, Haizea, Izoztutako, and Iklusea have elements of this in their respective designs.
* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: Urrezko Kaiola[[note]]means 'gilded cage'[[/note]] is a GildedCage. Lehiakide[[note]]means 'rival' or 'antagonist'[[/note]] is [[ArcVillain an antagonist, ]] [[HeelFaceTurn at least at first.]] Haizea, Tximista, and Izoztutako all have names that describe their powers (BlowYouAway, ShockAndAwe, and AnIcePerson repespectively).
* {{Expy}}:
** Abby of [[VisualNovel/DokiDokiLiteratureClub Monika]].
** Haizea is one of [[Characters/TouhouKaeidzukaPhantasmagoriaOfFlowerView Aya Shameimaru]], with identical powers and a remix of her {{Leitmotif}}.
** Iklusea is one of [[spoiler: [[{{VideoGame/Deltarune}} Jevil]], with his [[OptionalBoss role in the story]], {{Leitmotif}}, and item called Devil's Knife.]]
** Izoztutako is one of [[Characters/TouhouKoumakyouTheEmbodimentOfScarletDevil Cirno]], with similar appearance, [[AnIcePerson powers]], {{Leitmotif}}, and SmallNameBigEgo.
** Ilargia is one of [[Characters/TouhouKoumakyouTheEmbodimentOfScarletDevil Sakuya Izayoi]], while her mistress Erlojua is one of [[Characters/TouhouKoumakyouTheEmbodimentOfScarletDevil Remilia Scarlet]].
*** Additionally, they also reference [[WesternAnimation/{{Ninjago}} Acronix and Krux]], with similar color-schemes for their powers, and being called 'the Hands of Time'.
** The Band references the cast of ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys'', down to similar color schemes, similar instruments, and a minigame that references ''[=FNAF 1=]'''s gameplay.
* FissionMailed: In the battle with Tximista during Chapter 6, if you lose you don't get taken to the game over screen [[spoiler: because Ross Bot [[GuestStarPartyMember makes himself playable]] in order to beat up Tximista for killing his other minions.]]
* FlechetteStorm: Lehiakide's weapon of choice is kunai, and they can hit a lot of times per turn with them.
* TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou: … because there is no fourth wall. Characters can interact with players and players can directly influence their behavior.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Considering the wide range of personalities on display, these were inevitable.
** [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Abusari]] is so widely disliked because of his incessant promoting of his hotel. In fact, most of the cast (including [[TheTease Abby]], [[TheLancer Lance]], and [[{{Tsundere}} Lehiakide]]) up to that point are ''banned'' from the Hotel Kaiola. The only person who is willing to give him the time of day is [[GodSaveUsFromTheQueen Izoztutako]], and that might just have been ForTheLulz, according to [[spoiler: Zirikatu]].
** [[SmallNameBigEgo Haizea]]. Even compared to [[GodSaveUsFromTheQueen Izoztutako]], her realm has absolutely ''no'' permanent inhabitants besides her! Like Abusari, only Izoztutako is willing to give her the time of day.
** Izoztutako, of course. The only people who don't hate or fear her are Abusari, Haizea (detailed above), [[{{Yandere}} Tximista]], and [[spoiler: Zirikatu]] (who has TheMasochismTango relationship with her).
** Iruzurra is so disliked not even Izoztutako will give him the time of day. Everyone, including [[TheStoic Kara]], vehemently dislikes him. He's only able to stay around due to his shopkeeper-powers.
** Kara insists upon fighting alone, and has absolutely no allies. [[ReiAyanamiExpy Not that this bothers her that much.]]
* GameplayAndStoryIntegration:
** [[spoiler: [[BigGood Iklusea]]]] will actually spare you if you lose to her, since you're just proving yourself.
** Kara is immune to seduction attacks due to being asexual.
** The only enemies that drop gold in Chapter Four are near Iruzurra. This is because he puts the gold in them himself (to facilitate his AdamSmithHatesYourGuts shenanigans.)
** During the DuelBoss fight between Lehiakide and Tximista, Lehiakide, who just woke up after being hit by lightning and drugged, is noticably weakened. [[DramaPreservingHandicap It would be pretty easy, otherwise.]]
** In the same fight, Tximista uses the [[KissOfLife Kiss]] skill like Abby does... but on ''[[TacticalSuicideBoss you]]''. This is because she's a {{Yandere}} in MadLove with Lehiakide.
** The game softlocks if Bizkarroi deletes all of your party members.
* GildedCage: The Urrezko Kaiola world itself is, [[TitleDrop obviously.]]
* GoldenSuperMode: Haizea has one.
* GoodPowersBadPeople:
** [[spoiler: Abby]] has MagikarpPower, but is [[spoiler: the final boss of Urrezko Kaiola.]]
** Tximista has ShockAndAwe, but is a {{Yandere}}.
** Izoztutako is AnIcePerson, but is a JerkWithAHeartOfJerk UngratefulBitch.
* GreaterScopeVillain: Izoztutako is this for the first six chapters; she gave Abusari the Hyper Shield as [[ForTheLulz 'a social expirement']] and acted as support behind the scenes for Haizea and Tximista.
* GreenHillZone: Chapter 1 is this as the Plains Chapter.
* GrewBeyondTheirProgramming: Subverted. Each character has free will, but still behaves according to their programming.
** Kara keeps everyone stuck in the game because that is her role.
** Abby is flirtatious and saccharine because that's how she's intended to be. [[spoiler: Maitalea, her character class, means "Lover" in Basque.]]
** Lance fights the player despite having no ill will towards them because he is designed to be an antagonist.
** Lehiakide is antagonistic and {{Tsundere}} because they were intended as an Arc Villain.
** [[spoiler: The Shadow is only villainous because of their programming.]]
* GroundhogDayLoop: [[spoiler: ''The entire world'']] is in the midst of one. [[spoiler: The Solvers have tried and failed to beat [[GreaterScopeVillain The Shadow]] 41 times. The story starts on [[Literature/TheHitchhikersGuideToTheGalaxy loop number 42.]] ]]
** On a smaller scale, [[TheDragon Ross Blackwood]]'s world, nicknamed 'the fogworld', also works this way.
* HostileShowTakeover:
** Abby takes over the entire discord for a while.
** All of Chapter 3 is this. Abusari was only supposed to be a minor OptionalBoss, but he used [[TheComputerIsACheatingBastard map editing]] to create an entire chapter for him and [[EldritchLocation his hotel.]]
** Simulacra-1337 did this to Chapter 4, [[DemotedToDragon demoting Haizea to Dragon]] and becoming the main villain along with his posse.
* InnocuouslyImportantEpisode: Chapter 3. Despite being made up of a HostileShowTakeover that was captained by an OptionalBoss with no overall importance to the MythArc, Chapter 3 did introduce a whole hell of a lot of new elements that became important in later chapters, including Chapter 4's antagonists, Ross Bot, Tximista, Zelatatu, and Basati, Lehiakide's [[SignificantHaircut makeover]], and the antagonist of Chapter 6, Izoztutako.
* InterchangeableAntimatterKeys: Zig-zagged. Certain doors have unique keys, but the [[EldritchLocation Hotel Kaiola]] and Sky Realm play it straight.
* InterfaceScrew: Abusari can redact spoilers/important information from the players as black boxes.
* {{Kiai}}: Haizea lets out an impressive one ''[[PaintingTheMedium (it lasts twelve text boxes)]]'' when she transforms into her GoldenSuperMode.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Lehiakide, [[CharacterDevelopment eventually.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: Ross Bot.
* KnightOfCerebus: Abusari. Has absolutely no redeeming qualities besides being [[FauxAffablyEvil suspiciously polite]], performs a HostileShowTakeover to get an entire chapter to himself, [[spoiler: and is the first character to permanently kill another.]]
* LamePunReaction: This gem.
->'''[[{{Jerkass}} Ross Bot]]:''' why dont you come to my shack and fight me
->'''Ross Bot:''' ill even use my bopha
->'''[[TheComicallySerious Kara]]:''' What in the world is bopha?
->'''Ross Bot:''' bopha deez nuts bitch
->'''Kara:''' [[TranquilFury Perish.]]
* LargeHam: Martzel. He's [[SuddenlyShouting THE HAMMER OF JUSTICE!]]
* LevelsTakeFlight: Chapter 4. You even get a CoolAirship.
* LittleBitBeastly: [[AnIcePerson Ice Realm residents]] tend to be this, with [[CatPeople either cat ears, a cat tail, or both.]]
* LordBritishPostulate: In chapter 3, when [[spoiler: Abusari]] goes full TheComputerIsACheatingBastard using the Hyper Shield ability, you're supposed to defeat him using Shield Breaker items you got at a side-mission earlier in the chapter. ''However'', it's completely possible to defeat him even in this state by getting very lucky with status effects.
** The moving statues in Chapter 2's Mansion deliver you a OneHitKill if you make contact with them (without even taking you to a battle screen). The ''intended'' way to deal with them is playing music boxes throughout the mansion that will immobilize all of the statues for 30 seconds, or just running away. However, you can trap the statues with boxes.
** {{Exploited}} with a similar battle to the first example in Chapter 6. Three endings are locked behind exploiting the postulate and beating Tximista (as opposed to triggering a FissionMailed).
** {{Averted}} with Bizkarroi in Chapter Seven, who ''can'' be defeated, but simply re-challenges you at that point.
* LovecraftLite: The true threat is a technology-based EldritchAbomination, but the story largely operates on WhiteAndGreyMorality and DefeatMeansFriendship.
* LowerDeckEpisode: Chapter 3. Aside from cameos, you're mostly dealing with minor characters introduced in this chapter.
* LuminescentBlush: Abby is prone to this. [[spoiler: So is Lehiakide, after they begin a HeelFaceTurn.]]
[[/folder]]
[[folder: M to S]]
* MediumAwareness: Given a DeconReconSwitch. Yes, the characters know they aren't human and that they exist within a fictional world. However, none of them seem existentially bothered by this. Only some of them want to leave, and that's more because of Kara than because of the game world.
* MeleeATrois: In (the lead-up to) chapter 2, Lehiakide is fighting with Kara, Kara is fighting with Abby and Lance, and Abby and Lance are aiding the players against Lehiakide.
** A more complicated one occurs [[spoiler: at the end of chapter 4, involving the players' party (the avatar, Abby, and Lehiakide), Ross Bot and his minions, [[{{Yandere}} Tximista]], [[TheStarcream Haizea]], and finally [[UngreatfulBitch Izoztutako]].]]
** Again in Chapter 5 between [[spoiler: [[{{Yandere}} Tximista]], Ross Bot, and the player.]]
* MisanthropeSupreme: Simulacra-1337 considers Simulacra like himself superior to humans (and ArtificialIntelligence).
* MySpeciesDothProtestTooMuch: Averted. While the game characters ''do'' have free will and make their own decisions, they always follow their purpose and programming.
* MythArc: What is [[GreaterScopeVillain The Shadow]], and why does Kara fear it so much?
* OffTheRails: Technically, most of the game is this, to the point that what constitutes 'the rails' changes almost every chapter.
** Lehiakide [[TheComputerIsACheatingBastard modifies]] Chapter 2 to make it harder and themself stronger. What the original Chapter 2 would have been like is unknown at this point.
** Chapter 3 in its current form ''wasn't even supposed to exist''. Chapter 3 was originally the Sky Chapter, but [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Abusari]] ''created'' a chapter simply dedicated to him and his hotel, which was originally a brutal bonus level and Abusari himself an OptionalBoss.
** Chapter 4 precedes as it was intended to (barring the fact it happens one chapter later) except the intended main villain, [[BlowYouAway Haizea]], was DemotedToDragon, and an entirely new villain, Ross Bot, takes the ArcVillain mantle.
* ThePsychoRangers: Simulacra-1337, Haizea, Basati, Zelatatu and Tximista, the antagonists of Chapter 4.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Simulacra-1337 and Zelatatu. [[AvertedTrope Averted]] with Aitzane [[DuelingPlayerCharacters (for the most part)]].
* ReiAyanamiExpy: Kara, natch. She has [[PurpleIsPowerful purple hair and eyes]], she is always TheStoic, rarely shows emotions besides apathy or mild annoyance, and always talks in a correct and monotone manner.
* SatanIsGood: [[ExaggeratedTrope Exaggerated.]] [[spoiler: Iklusea, this setting's devil, is more heroic than most other characters.]]
* SatelliteLoveInterest: [[DeconstructedTrope Deconstructed]] with [[spoiler: [[{{Yandere}} Tximista]]. She was designed to be [[{{Tsundere}} Lehiakide's]] LoveInterest in a [[AnotherSideAnotherStory bonus mode]] that focused entirely on Lehiakide, but both her character and the mode were [[DummiedOut scrapped early in development]]. In fact, it was scrapped so early that Tximista's character [[FlatCharacter was not developed much at all]] beyond being Lehiakide's LoveInterest. Then she was banished to the Infinite Field.]]
-> '''[[TheOmniscient Euritsu]]''': [[spoiler: You do the math on why she ended up [[{{Yandere}} so crazy]].]]
* TheScottishTrope: Saying [[GreaterScopeVillain The Shadow]]'s true name out loud (or on text on the internet) will give them power [[UnreliableExpositor (according to Kara)]]. Characters variously refer to them as [[DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment "them", "THEM",]] or just [[OnlyKnownByTheirNickname The Shadow]].
** [[ExploitedTrope Exploited]] by [[spoiler: Zirikatu]], whose unique ability is to hide his name from being spoken or viewed, [[InterfaceScrew even by the game interface.]]
* SiblingYinYang:
** Kara and [[spoiler: Iklusea]]. They're both [[PhysicalGod the goddesses of the setting,]] but that's where the similarities end. Kara is asexual while Iklusea is MsFanservice.
** [[spoiler: Zirikatu]] and Euritsu. The former's ability allows him to redact information (his name, specifically,) from view, while the latter's ability allows her to [[TheOmniscient know almost anything.]]
* ShiftingSandLand: Chapter 2 is this, including pyramids and all.
* ShockAndAwe: Tximista (it's even in her name), and to a lesser extent Lehiakide and Martzel.
* ShoutOut: [[ShoutOut/UrrezkoKaiola Has its own page here.]]
* SignificantGreenEyedRedhead: Abby is one of the main characters.
* SignificantHaircut: Lehiakide's makeover between Chapter 2 (their stint as an ArcVillain) and Chapter 3 (the beginning of their CharacterDevelopment) marks their transition from an antagonist to a protagonist.
* SlippySlideyIceWorld: Chapter 6 and areas removed from it tend to be this.
* StatusEffects: There's burning and poison (which inflict DamageOverTime), paralysis, [[HarmlessFreezing freezing]], disabling, confusion, and stun (all of which stop the character from moving), [[DistractedByTheSexy infatuation]], and some stranger ones.
* TheStarscream: Both Tximista and Haizea to Ross Bot in Chapter 4.
[[/folder]]
[[folder: T to Z]]
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: While Lehiakide [[AmbiguousGenderIdentity isn't a girl]], they and Abby fit this dynamic to a T.
** Haizea and Tximista, although the former is a TomboyWithAGirlyStreak and the formed is a GirlyGirlWithATomboyStreak, [[spoiler: befitting a {{Yandere}}.]]
* {{Tsundere}}:
** Type A (harsh):
*** Lehiakide. Hates being called cute, reacts rudely to any affection players give them, but sometimes decides to be kind and helpful. Even gets called such by a player and they only react with an angry emoji.
*** Izoztutako is this mixed with JerkWithAHeartOfJerk. Everyone besides her LoveInterest gets [[IncrediblyLamePun the cold shoulder]], but with him she devolves into SlapSlapKiss, SuspiciouslySpecificDenial, and HypocriticalHeartwarming.
** Type B (sweet):
*** Abby [[CharacterizationMarchesOn gains shades of this]] as the chapters go on.
*** [[spoiler: Zirikatu]], Izoztutako's LoveInterest, is this. With anyone besides her, he's cordial (unless bothered), but with her he devolves into TheTease and BelligerentSexualTension.
* UnexpectedlyDarkEpisode: Chapter 5, massively. The only warning that it was going to be as dark as it was was a reference to it maybe being called "The Spooky Chapter" internally, and that did not prepare players in the slightest for the chase sequences, surprisingly dark tone, [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and ]]''{{Franchise/Danganronpa}} ''[[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking music.]]
* UnwinnableByDesign: If you face Abusari's second battle without first clearing the Corrupted Wastes and gaining the Shield Breakers[[note]]The name of the item you get in the Corrupted Wastes is a Base 64 corruption of the actual name of the item [[/note]], he becomes virtually unbeatable. But not ''completely'', see LordBritishPostulate.
* ViewerGenderConfusion: Played for Drama. Lehiakide gets, understandably, very angry after being misgendered and starts modifying their own stats to make Chapter 2 and onward incredibly difficult.
* VillainExitStageLeft: Frequently.
** Lehiakide after each of their defeats in Chapter 2 except the last one.
** Ross Bot does a ''literal'' exit stage left at the end of Chapter 4.
** Tximista does it literally again when Ross Bot sics a tank on her.
* VillainousFriendship: [[ImpliedTrope Implied]] with Abusari and Izoztutako. Also Izoztutako, Haizea, and Tximista.
* VillainousRescue: Ross Bot does this with a tank in chapter 5.
* VileVillainSaccharineShow: The Shadow, in comparision to the CrapsaccharineWorld, is a NoNonsenseNemesis and an exception to the WhiteAndGreyMorality.
* WhamLine: The end of the diary in the library in Chapter 3.
-> [[spoiler: '''The Creator:''' Abby should be the final boss.]]
* WhamShot: [[spoiler: Goizame's dead body inside the Hotel Kaiola.]]
* WhatTheHellHero / WhatTheHellPlayer: Lehiakide delivers these after being misgendered by the players.
* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: [[InvertedTrope Inverted]] and PlayedForLaughs. Simulacra-1337 believes that both humans and game characters are inferior to [[BrainUploading Simulacra]].
* WhiteAndGreyMorality: At "white" we have the players, and at "grey" we have Kara, a HeroWithBadPublicity or AntiVillain depending on interpretation, and Abby, who is sweet and saccharine, but comes off as a BitchInSheepsClothing, especially when interacting with someone other than the players.
** Chapter 2’s ArcVillain, Lehiakide, is a cute {{Tsundere}} and {{Woobie}} despite their general antagonism.
** Chapter 3 brings in Abusari, whose only motivation for villainy is to get customers to his hotel, never mind that it's an EldritchLocation.
** Chapter 4 has in its PsychoRangers the [[{{Jerkass}} jerkish]] but morally ambiguous Ross Bot, the AntiVillain Haizea, and the [[spoiler: ShrinkingViolet {{Yandere}}, Tximista]].
* WholePlotReference: Chapter 3's Hotel Kaiola is one to [[VideoGame/SuperPaperMario Merlee's Mansion.]]
* {{Yandere}}: [[spoiler: Tximista for Lehiakide.]]
* {{Youkai}}: Izoztutako is refered to as a [[AnIcePerson yuki-onna]] in one song title, while [[spoiler: Zirikatu]]'s class title is [[CatBoy Nekomata]].
