!! This show provides examples of:
* TwoAndAHalfD: Sometimes the background will interact with the game and some platforms and object appear in a side-scroller game.
* AdvancingBossOfDoom: After the Arachne boss makes her first appearance, she will chase you upwards and try to get you with her big limbs, acidic spit, her newly hatched offsprings and falling debris.
* AdvancingWallOfDoom: After you have defeated Quatzel, you will be chased by walls of lava flowing sideways that serves as this.
* AnvilOnHead: You need to slam a heavy block right at Arachne's face to hurt her.
* ActionBomb: The clockwork penguin will chase you and explode. They can be lured to break walls of ice to open hidden areas.
* AttackItsWeakPoint:
** The triangular body section of Plantosaurus will appear after it's head smashed.
** Cubic lumps that appear randomly on the Kraken.
** Round bumps that appear on Hank and Quetzal when they get wounded by Flat.
** The eyes and nose of Flateptal.
** The big icicle forming on Fenrir's back.
* BoisterousBruiser: The square is the sturdiest form for Flat, which lets him push heavy objects. Especially so, when pitted against triangle shaped enemies.
* BossRush: You have to fight the first boss from each level, in order to battle it out with the final boss.
* TheCape: Flat wears them in later updates.
* CatchAndReturn: Countering Hank's pufferfishes with the right shape will bounce them back to the boss, leaving a big lump on the orca's head. Flat can [[AttackItsWeakPoint use this opportunity to get a second hit.]]
* ChildhoodFriend: Flat is one too Princess Tri.
* ColourCodedForYourConvenience: The Norn have different colors and shapes to show their attributes.
* CollisionDamage: Flat can kill most enemies when he touches them in the shape they are weak against. Enemies can hurt Flat too when he isn't when he comes in contact with them in the same or weaker shape.
* {{Counterattack}}: Turning into the shape the Norns bosses are weak against will damage them when they try to hit you.
* CunningLikeAFox: The fox-faced mysterious thief is always a step ahead of Flat in retrieving the magic jewels.
* DefeatingTheUndefeatable: Quatzel the leader of the Liztec tribe has never lost a fight until Flat came along. Although the story scroll says that whoever defeats the leader shall become the leader of the Liztec tribes, the lizardmen still attack Flat as if Quatzel was never defeated.
* DifficultyLevels: You start with Flat Newbie, Flat Hero, and Flat Legend. The difficulty affects how much damage enemies will inflict on you. A quarter of heart in Newbie, half of the heart in Hero and an entire heart in Legend.
* DirectionallySolidPlatforms: Flat can phase through some platforms from the bottom if they are shaped like lines.
* DoubleJump: The circle is the only shape that can do the double jump. You even get a triple jump later on in the game.
* ElectricJellyfish: They discharge electricity for a short period of time when Flat is near.
* GroundPound: Doing a double jump and then immediately switch into square mid-air will lead Flat to drop hard on the floor, which is mainly used to break wooden platforms.
* HeroicMime: Flat the protagonist has never shown to speak.
* HiveMind: Arachne is said to be able to control all her offsprings with only her mind.
* IndyEscape: There is a big rock blocking your passage in the second level of Flatforest. The only way to get through is to have it chase you.
* LethalLavaLand: Flateptal, [[spoiler:Definitely not one of the bosses that dwell there.]]
* LightningBruiser:
** Flat's triangle form is the fastest out of his 3 forms. Very effective against circle enemies.
** Triangle enemies are shown to be much faster and aggressive.
* TheLostWoods: After the first jewel was stolen, every creature in Flatforest has suddenly turned hostile. [[EverythingTryingToKillYou Even the deer and rabbits are out for your blood.]]
* LizardFolk: The Liztec tribe are [[ProudWarriorRaceGuy proud warrior race]] that devote themselves in combat and arts of war.
* MacGuffin: The six magic jewels of different elements thought to keep Flatland in peace are stolen one by one.
* ManEatingPlant: There are smaller stationery and bigger mobile venus flytraps as mooks. There is a giant one that is the first boss of Flatforest.
* NoobCave: The second level of Flatforest turns out to be this. Since Flatforest is the first stage of the game, it matches the trope really well.
* OurLichesAreDifferent: Our Norns Are Different: These three Norn Sisters are NO GODDESSES. They are actually skeletal liches that can only be defeated by striking the shapes they are weak against.
* RiseToTheChallenge: After the AdvancingWallOfDoom sequence, lava will slowly rise. However, it won't pose much of a threat because floating platforms will rise up with the lava.
* SamusIsAGirl: The Norns look like nothing that you would consider to be females until the game brings up the "sisters".
* SavageWolves: Fenrir, the Fierce Wolf of Storm serves as the second boss in Flatsgard.
* ShamuFu: The killer whale Hank likes to toss sea urchins and round pufferfishes to attack you.
** The Pelicans and Seahorses love to throw or shoot differently shaped fishes at you.
* SuperNotDrowningSkills: Flat can stay in the water as long as he like.
* TacticalRockPaperScissors: Circle beats square, square beats triangle and triangle beat circle.
* TreeBuchet: When on a sticky catapult plant, you need to use the square form to store tension. Release in circle form for more height or triangle for more distance.
* UnderTheSea: The second level of Flatlantis is entirely submerged underwater.
* WeaponBasedCharacterization: The Norns wield different weapons corresponding to their shapes. The circle one carries a shield, the square one wields a rectangle sword, and the triangle one holds a scythe.
* UglyGuyHotWife: The king, Square, and queen, Circ of Flatland.
* VoluntaryShapeShifter: Flat can freely change his shape into a circle, triangle, and square at will.
* WalkDontSwim: Flat's square form will cause him to sink like rock when submerged in water, but he can still walk slowly just like he does on land.
