4	Centuries ago, humans [[CapturedSuperEntity imprisoned]] the [[FantasyPantheon Old Gods]] in the ancient Citadel, and humanity prospered. Great and mighty kingdoms rose from the now-abandoned temples of worship. However, these victories and successes were short-lived. In [[{{Revenge}} revenge]], the Old Gods have released a plague known as the Desolation on the world, turning farmlands to deserts and rivers to dust. The armies of the Second Great Crusade were sent to Citadel to slay the gods, but they all perished, and the human kingdoms lay in ruin. Then came a [[SoleSurvivor lone Crusader]], journeying to the citadel to [[KillTheGod slay every last Old God]].

You play as a lone warrior, set in a DarkFantasy setting inspired by the ''VideoGame/DarkSouls'' series where you must fight and destroy gods to halt the [[EndOfTheWorld desolation]] in epic [[BossRush boss battles]]. Each battle against the Old Gods will be life-threatening, as you engage in fast-paced and challenging combat.

9	* BossRush: Outside of a few simple item puzzles, the only gameplay is killing the 12 bosses.
10	* CapturedSuperEntity: The Old Gods have been imprisoned in the Citadel for centuries.
11	* CrapsackWorld: The Desolation has caused widespread famines, and reduced the world to this. Things don't get much better in most of the endings.
12	* EndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt: The Desolation caused by the Old Gods has resulted in widespread famine and decay, bringing humanity to its knees.
13	* FantasyPantheon: A particularly shattered and broken version, with most of the original gods either dead, driven mad, or [[ReforgedIntoAMinion Turned into Watchers]].
14	* GodEmperor: The Old Gods used to be this, until humanity revolted and sealed them within the citadel. [[HeWhoFightsMonsters The Crusader can become this in the Path of Slaughter ending.]]
15	* JerkassGods: The olds gods weren't particularly nice before, being cruel tyrants, but after they were defeated and imprisoned, they got even worse, actively seeking to bring the world to ruin through the desolation.

17	* LateToTheTragedy: By the time that the player arrives, the Second Crusade has already been slaughtered by the Old Gods, and the world is on its last legs.
