''The Prestige Tree: Alternate'' is an IdleGame by Creator/{{yhvr}} released in 2020 which is a GameMod of ''VideoGame/PrestigeTree''. It has several new layers and mechanics for them, leading to different progression. This mod predates the creation of UsefulNotes/TheModdingTree engine, so you'll see the old design and overall less special content.

The game later received a major extension by Despacit called [=DespATPT=] with new layers and more strategic gameplay (as generally it's best not to reset things until you get to a certain milestone). It's linked from the official game once you reach its endgame and is practically superior in every way, with the only reason to play the original being a look at its graphical style laden with EarlyInstallmentWeirdness.

!!This game provides examples of:
* {{Cap}}: You'll eventually reach a point where the game no longer adds points. The amount of them needed for it ranges, but it generally does not go above ee172.
* ChromaticArrangement: The last three layers. Chaos is light red, Intelligence is green, and Order is blue.
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: The nodes have these colors:
** Prestige points: Teal
** Knowledge: Red
** Skills: Orange
** Books: Beige
** Factories: Grey
** Rockets: White
** Chaos gems: Light red
** Order power: Blue
** Intelligence: Light green
* ExportSave: You can push a button to export the 700+ byte save and import it into the game. If you have an ''ATPT'' save, it can be imported into ''[=DespATPT=]''.
* GameBreakingBug: After resetting for order power and then books, you can end up in a state where knowledge costs nothing and you produce it infinitely each second, but many things can't be bought at all and all Factories have been set to [=(e^NaN)NaN=]. Only way to fix this is to edit the savefile.
* MissingSecret: In the original, the Factory layer has its last three Factory tiers cost 100 factories, making them completely unpurchasable. ''[=DespATPT=]'' fixes this, also raising the prices of Factory 9 and 10.
* NewGamePlus: While a lot of resets reduce practically everything to zero, the Rocket reset stands out as it gets rid of absolutely everything except for Prestige upgrades (which disappear when you claim Knowledge) and things (meaning specific factories don't have to be repurchased for a while).
* OrderVersusChaos: At the start of row 5, you can pick between chaos gems and order power, the former increasingly boosting resource gain and the latter dividing costs. As you progress, it becomes clear all the upgrades make them stronger depending on the opposite side.
