----
* BoxOfficeBomb: Budget: $10 million; box office: $4.2 million -- though it was significantly better received in Japan.
* CompletelyDifferentTitle: The Japanese and Brazilian release of the movie changed the title to The Last Seven Days of Laura Palmer.
* CreatorBacklash: Music/DavidBowie was displeased with his performance as Phillip Jeffries, citing how rushed it was thanks to his tight schedule at the time. According to Bowie, he shot his part in "four or five days" because he was also in the middle of rehearsing for Tin Machine's second (and final) tour.
* DeletedScene and DeletedRole: Lynch shot five hours of scenes, so when "The Entire Mystery" Blu-ray boxset was released in 2014, he had them cut together into a 90 minutes feature named The Missing Pieces. Notably, amongst the scenes is a brief scene that takes place immediately after the finale, and, in true Lynch style, it doesn't really resolve anything. It also includes appearances for almost every regular character from the TV series - Pete and Josie, Dell Mibbler, Big Ed and Nadine, the Hayward and Briggs families, Dr Jacoby and the entire Sheriff's Department, all of whom were cut from Fire Walk With Me.
* DoingItForTheArt: The numerous prominent actors in the film, including Creator/KieferSutherland, Music/DavidBowie, Creator/HarryDeanStanton and Creator/JurgenProchnow, played small parts for almost no money because they had all been fans of Series/TwinPeaks and/or Creator/DavidLynch's other work (Prochnow previously worked with Lynch in Dune (1984)). The same went for Chris Isaak but he had previously collaborated with Lynch when Lynch directed the music video for Isaak's song "Wicked Game" and popularized the song in Film/WildAtHeart.
* FranchiseKiller: This was the last nail in the Twin Peaks TV franchise before that coffin was cremated; it would take a decade for any talks about reviving it to materialize.
* NotScreenedForCritics: Wasn't screened for critics, but WAS screened at Cannes, where it was reportedly jeered by audiences (although co-writer Robert Engels denied this).
* TheOtherDarrin: Moira Kelly as Donna, since Lara Flynn Boyle bowed out. Several other actors chose not to return, so their characters weren't featured.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** The Cooper plot was originally planned to be bigger part of the film, but it was eventually reduced in scope by request of Creator/KyleMacLachlan, who was afraid of being typecast at the time.
** The film was originally meant to be followed up with two sequels which would respectively continue and conclude the events of the series, but the film being a BoxOfficeBomb put a stopper to those plans. Thankfully, the series would get a proper continuation 25 years later.
** Had the story continued in movie form, would have been very different. According to Robert Engels, the character would not have been but
