Context Trivia / FoxEye

Go To

* ApprovalOfGod: Fox appreciates finding and receiving artwork of his Fox Eye characters from fans. He [[https://www.pixiv.net/en/users/11426437/bookmarks/artworks bookmarks a lot of fanart he finds of them]] on Platform/{{Pixiv}}, and has also archived a handful of fanart the circle has received via e-mail [[http://www.foxeye.squares.net/cg.htm at the bottom of the circle's website's art page]].
* BreakthroughHit: ''VideoGame/{{Holdover}}'' is seen as one for Fox Eye, as it is the most well-known game from their catalog among the doujin gaming community and very likely their introduction into Fox Eye, as well as their most accessible game outside of Japan, thanks to being a [[NintendoHard challenging]] [[FreewareGame freeware]] {{Metroidvania}}. To further describe the game's relative popularity, its main character, Marie, has had more fan art of herself than any other Fox Eye protagonist despite also having a lower amount of official art made of her from the circle compared to its other heroines and mascots, such as Chie, Polon and Natica (which was somewhat rectified via Platform/{{Pixiv}} commissions and Fantia entries).
* DoingItForTheArt:
** This circle is heavily creator-driven. Although Fox does encourage the circle's fans to support and buy the games he develops, he's has such a passion for underwater fantasies that he's willing to share free artwork of his characters to his fans from time to time in the circle’s social media outlets. Also, while nearly all of Fox Eye's games have the common {{Fanservice}} trappings of what can be encountered in other {{Ecchi}} and {{Hentai}} works (such as BuxomBeautyStandard, ClothingDamage, {{Stripperiffic}}, and LevelUpAtIntimacy5), and that some fans believe that Fox [[SexSells can make a bigger profit off of his games by focusing on those tropes and other Hentai-esque tropes even more]], fetish material involving UnderTheSea exhibitions and [[OxygenMeter drowning perils]] still remain Fox's top priorities due to both of them being the circle's biggest sources of AuthorAppeal, and the keys to their SignatureStyle in the DoujinSoft community. Quite a few fans have considered the circle a "one of a kind" for this.
** Fox has created an animation software tool called "[[http://www.foxeye.squares.net/product/uwanimaker/index.htm Underwater Wave Maker]]", which is meant to re-simulate the feeling of being underwater with a greater ease of use compared to similar software, allowing fans to create and apply waves and bubbles to various underwater artwork. [[https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/77995696 This artwork of Kana]] was posted as a first example of this tool in action, and ''In the Aquarium: Sinking with Kana'' was made to further show the use of this tool through a lot of its own artwork.
** In April 2021, Fox started converting all of the games' websites that used the now-discontinued MediaNotes/AdobeFlash into an [=HTML5=] format. Each website conversion is announced and commemorated with new artwork of that website's game's protagonists on Fantia, giving Fox his own opportunity [[ArtEvolution to update and finalize the style and designs of several of his older characters]]. This even includes those that have seen little-to-no further art from him beyond their debut appearances, such as Marie from the circle's BreakthroughHit ''Holdover''.
* LineToGod: Previously, you could have Japanese or English conversations with Fox in his Platform/{{Twitter}} account, where he tends to discuss the progress his upcoming games as well as small aspects of his personal life. He also occasionally posts exclusive artwork of characters from some of his games, or even draw new ones. However, [[ScrewedByTheNetwork the Twitter account was suddenly suspended with little to no chance of restoring it]]. So Fox moved the circle's primary social networking outlet into Pawoo, which is an alternate form of Twitter that is powered by Platform/{{Pixiv}}. Check it out, [[https://pawoo.net/web/accounts/730837 here]].
* MilestoneCelebration:
** On March 2nd, 2018, Fox posted [[https://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=67542028 commemorative artwork featuring a crossover between several of Fox Eye's regular, event, and ABYSS heroines from 2013 to 2017]] for the circle's 10th anniversary. What makes this more SugarWiki/{{Heartwarming|Moments}} is how this happened after Fox made a full recovery from an illness at the hospital a few days prior to the milestone.
** On May 22, 2023, Fox posted [[https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/108363279 another commemorative artwork, this time featuring a crossover between several Fox Eye girls made between 2018 to 2023]] for more retail and event games, as well as for artwork and manga stories shared on Pixiv and Fantia. This was not only to celebrate Fox Eye's 15th Anniversary on March earlier that year, but also the circle's 3rd Anniversary of being on Fantia since April 2020. Like the previous milestone, this was also announced after Fox had recovered from a different illness.
* NoExportForYou: Most of the circle's games have an English version available to buy from the store (or they're FreewareGames that can be downloaded directly from the circle, itself), but there're some exceptions. The original ''Blue Port'', ''Mermaid'', and ''Sufferer: The Final Escape'' have yet to receive an English translation on Platform/{{DLsite}}, and, despite still being purchasable by them, are consequently harder for English-speaking players to play and understand.
* ScrewedByTheNetwork: After over half a decade of direct communication between their Japanese and English-speaking fans, Fox Eye's Platform/{{Twitter}} account was permanently suspended. Fox has since moved the circle's main social media outlet into [[Platform/{{Pixiv}} Pawoo]], which has a similar structure to Twitter, and continues with public updates there.
* TeasingCreator: The trials of some of Fox Eye's games come off as this for the developer towards players who are getting into the games for their [[SignatureStyle drowning fanservice]].
** In ''Barely Breakout!'', the puzzles of Levels 4 to 6 are scenarios that involve freeing a girl trapped underwater before she drowns. In the trial version of this game, those puzzles are locked out.
** In the trial of ''Sufferer: The Final Escape'', you can only play its TutorialLevel, which also happens to be the only level in the game (and possibly ''the entirety of Fox Eye's catalogue'') where the protagonist has SuperNotDrowningSkills. This is because Yuna's OxygenMeter never falls below half its length in that level, where she would've otherwise begun struggling for a breath.
** ''VideoGame/HadesVanquish'''s trial version does allow itself to show Mana drowning once her OxygenMeter completely runs out, [[BaitAndSwitch but then it cuts out to an ad to buy the full version before Mana's drowning animation ends.]]
* {{Vaporware}}: Sadly happens with this DoujinSoft developer from time to time, though some ideas and concepts made for these games may eventually be realized in other games:
** A ''Blue Port 2'' (which would've been more of an open world game compared to the original ''Blue Port'', which can also be seen in 2011's ''Blue Port J'') has been planned by Fox for years since the release of ''Holdover'' back in 2009, with [[https://blog-imgs-74-origin.fc2.com/f/o/x/foxdev/uwa3ss.jpg several work-in-progress pics]] and multiple development blogs about it. Many years and several more games later, [[DevelopmentHell it still has yet to truly become a reality.]] However, Fox has often stated that he does eventually wants to get it released.
** A 3D [[StealthBasedGame Stealth-Based]] ActionGame involving an blonde ActionGirl named ''Kureleuille'', who wielded a high-tech handgun, [[https://blog-imgs-38-origin.fc2.com/f/o/x/foxdev/krukuru.jpg was also previewed in the past.]] [[DevelopmentHell This game never came to be, either]], but the concept of a blonde, gun-wielding ActionGirl reappeared a few years later as ''VideoGame/HadesVanquish''[='=]s Mana, who then saw her own successor as the blonde, ''[[GunsAkimbo dual]]'' gun-wielding ''VideoGame/BlueGuardianMargaret''.
** There was another 3D ActionGame announced in 2017 that starred a {{Ninja}} girl [[https://blog-imgs-106-origin.fc2.com/f/o/x/foxdev/uw2017img.jpg named]] [[https://blog-imgs-123-origin.fc2.com/f/o/x/foxdev/botuss.jpg Nene]], but afterwards, there was no further news of the game until 2019, [[DevelopmentHell where despite its progress, the game was also put on hold]] due to Fox not being satisfied with its current quality. Fox may plan to use some of its assets for a different game, however.
