* BannedInChina: The site was once temporarily unblocked in China from 2016 to 2018, yet there were still Chinese [=DeviantArt=] users on there.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: If a piece of art goes missing for some reason and you don't have any contact details of the artist nor know any particular fan of them, chances are that you'll never see it again.
* NoDubForYou: Since its inception over two decades ago, [=DeviantArt=] has never had any form of language support other than English, forcing foreign users who aren't very good at said language to use Google Translate. To compound this fact even further, before the site's Eclipse rebranding in 2019, the restriction extended to foreign ''characters'' being disabled in deviation titles. And everyone there [[MyHovercraftIsFullOfEels knows of the implications that could happen from forgetting crucial accents]]... Thankfully, this has been lifted.
* WhyFandomCantHaveNiceThings:
** Because of art theft going rampant, and the moderators' inability to handle so many theft reports, [[http://protectart.deviantart.com/journal/The-Art-Theft-Discussion-544490149 they're now limiting reports to only the original authors of the stolen work]]. The problem is that art thieves tend to steal from other websites, like Website/{{Tumblr}} and Website/{{Pixiv}}, and because of the LanguageBarrier, the lack of a way to communicate the original authors outside of [=DeviantArt=], and in some more extreme cases, [[DiedDuringProduction the artist being dead]], combined with the price rise on premium subscriptions (now named ''Core''), many users of the website are [[TheyChangedItNowItSucks not taking this measure very well]]. Thanks to this issue, many users concerned with art theft will add large watermarks (whether it's their own or the [=DeviantArt=] default) to their images, including FanArt.
** A long time ago, DA's April Fools pranks used to be far more elaborate, either involving changing everyone's avatars to something or pretending the site was undergoing a massive change with a new feature. However, either because people found the pranks [[DudeNotFunny unfunny or even offensive for some]], while others [[PoesLaw completely took it for face value and thought that the 'update' was completely legitimate]],[[note]]One of the most notable instances was April Fool's Day 2008, where everyone's avatars were temporarily changed to the same animated "[[MemeticMutation so i herd u liek]] [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Mudkipz]]" [[https://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wiki/File:4-1-08_deviantART.png avatar,]] which prompted such a huge backlash that DA prematurely ended the joke well before the day was over in the U.S.[[/note]] DA has more or less relegated April Fool's Day to a glorified drawing contest involving some form of [[MemeticMutation internet meme]].
