->''It happened without warning. Countless worlds found themselves trapped within small machines, unable to resist. And the last world to be targeted is...''
-->-- Opening narration for [[Recap/KikaiSentaiZenkaigerEp01TheCrazyCoolKikaiWorldKai episode 1]].

''Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger'' (roughly translated as "Mecha-World Squadron Zenkaiger[[note]]"Zenkai" in katakana form can be translated in English as both "full-throttle" and "all-world"[[/note]]") is the 45th entry in the ''Franchise/SuperSentai'' franchise and the second series to start in the Reiwa Era. It began airing alongside ''Series/KamenRiderSaber'' on March 7, 2021, following a prequel movie triple-billed with that of the ''Series/MashinSentaiKiramager'' and ''Series/KishiryuSentaiRyusoulger'' movies on February 20, and later, ''Series/KamenRiderRevice'' in the Series/SuperHeroTime block, and finished its run on February 27, 2022. It is the 45th anniversary season and the second crossover ''Sentai'' season after ''Series/KaizokuSentaiGokaiger''. Takeshi Tsuruno sang the ThemeTune.

In the setting of ''Zenkaiger'' there are [[AlternateUniverse countless parallel worlds]], including those belonging to the forty-four previous ''Super Sentai'' teams. Unfortunately, the tyrannical [[TheEmpire Tozitend Dynasty]] of "Kikaitopia" has embarked on a ruthless campaign to dominate TheMultiverse by sealing every other parallel world into "Tojiru Gears".

One day, a mysterious phenomenon causes Kikaitopia to partially fuse with the human world. Despite the initial confusion, the inhabitants of Kikaitopia - mechanical beings known as Kikainoids - soon peacefully settle into their new lives living alongside the humans.

Kaito Goshikida is a young man who lives with his grandmother following [[ParentalAbandonment the mysterious disappearance of his parents]], who vanished while researching parallel worlds. Eager and kindhearted, he has a energetic ambition to achieve a world's first (of anything!), and goes through life at "full steam ahead!".

When the Tozitend Dynasty finally launch their full-scale invasion of the human world, [[RagtagBunchOfMisfits Kaito teams up with four misfit Kikainoids]] to defend the peace of his home. With the technology left behind by his parents, which channels the powers of the forty-four ''Super Sentai'' teams that came before, Kaito and his friends transform into the 45th Super Sentai team: the Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger!

''Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger''’s tie-in projects include:

* ''[[Film/KikaiSentaiZenkaigerTheMovieRedFightAllSentaiGreatAssemble Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger The Movie: Red Battle! All Sentai Rally!!]]'', a movie adaptation of the series, part of the ''Super Sentai Movie Ranger 2021'' that was released on February 20, 2021 just prior to the series debut on TV.
* ''[[Recap/KikaiSentaiZenkaigerSpinOffIntroducingZenkaiRedKai Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger Spin-Off: Introducing Zenkai Red-kai!]]'', a two-episode web-exclusive series released on the streaming service TELASA on March 21, 2021.
* ''Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger: The Secret Zenkai Files'', a Website/YouTube-based miniseries by Bandai Japan that [[MerchandiseDriven promotes the toys]] based on the series.
* ''[[Film/KamenRiderSaberPlusKikaiSentaiZenkaigerSuperHeroSenki Saber + Zenkaiger: Super Hero Senki]]'', a crossover film with ''Series/KamenRiderSaber'' which was released in theaters on July 22, 2021.
* ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsDD'': The series made a special guest appearance for this game in 2021.
* ''[[Film/KikaiSentaiZenkaigerVsKiramagerVsSenpaiger Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger vs. Kiramager vs. Senpaiger]]'', a crossover V-Cinext with ''Series/MashinSentaiKiramager'' released in cinemas as a limited screening on April 29, 2022, and as a UsefulNotes/BluRay and DVD release on September 28.
* ''Twokaizer x Gokaiger: The June Bride is a Tanuki'', a crossover web-exclusive special with ''Series/KaizokuSentaiGokaiger'' streaming on Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club on June 5, 2022.

The series is then followed by ''Series/AvataroSentaiDonbrothers'', the first ever ([[BaitAndSwitch partial]]) {{Sequel}} in the franchise since ''Series/TaiyouSentaiSunVulcan'' (which is the sequel to ''Series/DenshiSentaiDenziman'').

----
!!Recurring ''Super Sentai'' tropes:

* ByThePowerOfGrayskull:
** Change Zenkai![[note]]Change Full-Throttle![[/note]]
*** Super Change Zenkai!
*** Kirameki Change Zenkai!
** Ankoku Change![[note]]Darkness Change![[/note]]
** Change Twokai!
*** Super Change Twokai!
*** Kirameki Change Twokai!
* {{Camp}}: This series is one of, if not the most campiest Sentai ever. Featuring many wacky characters, zany [[MonsterOfTheWeek plots of the week]] and the ''very'' hilarious and unconventional OutsideTheBoxTactic used to resolve them.
* CombiningMecha: Well in this case, the four robot Zenkaigers ''are'' the mecha, combining into different forms for Zenkaizer to pilot in the form of [=ZenkaiOh=].
** [=JuranTyranno=] or [=VroonDump=] + [=GaonLion=] or [=MagineDragon=] = [=ZenkaiOh=]
*** [=JuranTyranno=] + Super Zenkaizer = [=ZenkaiOh SuperJuran=][[note]]A [=SuperVroon=] version is possible, but exclusive to the toys.[[/note]]
** [=CrawlingOh=] + [=CrossKaiOh=] = [=CrocoDaiOh=]
** [=CrocoDaiOh=] + Ricky + Cutanner = [=TwokaiOh=]
*** [=TwokaiOh=] + Super Twokaizer SD = Super [=TwokaiOh=]
** Super Zenkaizer + Super Twokaizer SD = [=ZenKaijuOh=]
** Zenryoku Eagle + [=JuranTyranno=] + [=GaonLion=] + [=MagineDragon=] + [=VroonDump=] = [=Zenryoku ZenkaiOh=]
** In a crossover with the following season ''[=DonBrothers=]'', [=JuranTyranno=] + Enya Rideon = [=Don ZenkaiOh=][[note]]As with Super [=ZenkaiOh=], a Vroon version is theoretically possible but doesn't appear.[[/note]]
* DancingTheme: The Zenkai Dance. But in a twist on the norm, this series has Kaito and the Kikainoids dancing in the ''opening'' this time, as opposed to the ending, which this show lacks.
* DebutQueue: The Zenkaigers are assembled across the first few episodes, starting with Kaito and Juran and adding one more each episode until the full lineup is established in episode 4.
* DefeatEqualsExplosion: Played straight for Tozitend Walds and Kudaitests. Averted in the case of Stacy's Rangers which, unlike the [[Series/KaizokuSentaiGokaiger animated Ranger Keys]], dissolve into a purple mist.
* FiveManBand: Five people (specifically a TokenHuman with four alien robots) come together and transform into the Zenkaigers to fight the Kikaitopia Dynasty Tozitend.
* FleetingDemographicRule: Lampshaded and weaponized by the Zenryoku Zenkai Cannon, which allows its user to summon members from Sentai with related themes (for example, the Beast Power grouping summons members from animal-based Sentai like ''Liveman'', ''Jetman'', and ''Gaoranger'').
* IdiosyncraticEpisodeNaming: Every episode title ends in a word with "kai" as the last syllable.
* InTheNameOfTheMoon:
** The Zenkaigers employ a particularly MythologyGag-laden one:
--->'''Kaito''': The [[Series/HimitsuSentaiGorenger Secret]] Power([[PowerUp -Up]])![[note]] "''Himitsu no'' Power(-Up)!"[[/note]] (Super) Zenkaizer!
--->'''Juran''': The [[Series/KyoryuSentaiZyuranger Dinosaur]] Power![[note]] "''Kyōryū'' Power!"[[/note]] Zenkai Juran!
--->'''Gaon''': The [[Series/HyakujuuSentaiGaoranger Hundred Beasts]] Power![[note]] "''Hyakujū'' Power!"[[/note]] Zenkai Gaon!
--->'''Magine''': The [[Series/MahouSentaiMagiranger Magical]] Power![[note]] "''Mahō'' Power!"[[/note]] Zenkai Magine!
--->'''Vroon''': The [[Series/GoGoSentaiBoukenger Rumbling]] Power![[note]] "''[=GōGō=]'' Power!"[[/note]] Zenkai Vroon!
--->'''Kaito''': The five warriors, assembled![[note]]"Gōnin sorotte!"[[/note]]
--->'''All''': Kikai Sentai, Zenkaiger!
** The Tozitend's two enforcers have their own as well:
--->'''Stacy''': The [[DarkIsEvil Dark]] Power![[note]] "''Ankoku no'' Power!"[[/note]] Stacaesar!
--->'''Hakaizer''': The [[{{Robot}} Machine]] Power![[note]] "''Kikai no'' Power!"[[/note]] Hakaizer!
** Then there's these from Twokaizer:
--->'''Zocks''': The [[Series/KaizokuSentaiGokaiger Pirate]] Power(-Up)![[note]] "''Kaizoku no'' Power(-Up)!"[[/note]] (Super) Twokaizer!\
'''Shinken Form (with Cutanner)''': The Cool [[Series/SamuraiSentaiShinkenger Samurai]]! Shinken Form! To the field.[[note]]Cool na ''Samurai''! Shinken Form! Iza, mairu.[[/note]]\
'''Ohren From (with Ricky)''': The Hot-Blooded [[Series/ChourikiSentaiOhranger Superpower]]! [[PunctuatedForEmphasis It's!]] Ohren Form! [[{{kiai}} Watchaa]]!![[note]] Nekketsu ''Chouriki''! Ohren! Form da! Wachaa!![[/note]]
** A stage show in Tokyo Dome City also gives Flint [[https://youtu.be/FbRn6Gi0fVI?t=1722 a Ranger form and a roll call to boot]].
--->'''Flint:''' The [[GadgeteerGenius Engineering]] Power! [[note]]"''Hatsumei no'' Power!"[[/note]] Twokai Flint!
* LawOfChromaticSuperiority: Played with. Zenkaizer is the leader, but is officially classified as a White Ranger, whereas Zenkai Juran is the Red Ranger and TheLancer. Unlike the previous examples of White Rangers as [[Series/JAKQDengekitai the]] [[Series/NinjaSentaiKakuranger leaders]], Zenkaizer remains as the protagonist. Though it should be noted that Zenkaizer's outfit still predominantly features red.
** Lampshaded in TheMovie as it features the union of the Red Rangers of all Sentai up to this point. However, [[Series/HimitsuSentaiGoranger Akaranger]] questions the fact that Zenkaizer is not Red.
* MakeMyMonsterGrow: ''Zenkaiger'' has both sides of the conflict pulling this off.
** For the Tozitend, a Kudaitest (TheEmpire's Humongous Mecha) will absorb a defeated Wald's damaged Toziru Gear, [[TheCorruption allowing the Wald to take over its body]] and become a berserk giant version of itself, known as a Great Wald.
** For the Zenkaigers, apart from the human team leader, the mecha are the Rangers; naturally human-sized, they grow into giants with one more usage of their TransformationTrinket, and only in giant size can they become TransformingMecha and CombiningMecha. The Goldtsuiker twins are able to do the same willingly without a transformation trinket to be giant pilots of their halves of their CoolAirship.
* MiniDressOfPower: Notably averted in Zenkai Magine's case, and the first case of this aversion since ''Series/TokusouSentaiDekaranger'', instead opting for a LeotardOfPower design, last seen with ''Series/ChoushinseiFlashman''. She does have what appears to be a loincloth, however, so it is not particularly obvious at first glance.
* MonsterOfTheWeek: The Walds, mechanical beings created when a sealed world's Toziru Gear [[MookPromotion fuses with a Kudack]], causing [[WhenDimensionsCollide an overlapping fusion of Earth and the world it represents]]. By defeating them, the sealed worlds they represent will also be freed from the Tozitend.
* OnTheNext: The "jikai" portion of the next episode preview is written with the "kai" in katakana (次カイ予告) as opposed to the usual kanji (次回予告), in keeping with the show's "kai" puns. It can also be translated as "Next kai".
* PreAsskickingOneLiner: The Zenkaigers have "Zenryoku zenkai!" while Twokaiser has "Twokai ni ikuze!" before a battle.
* PreviouslyOn: From #2 onwards, Setchan begins every episode with "''[[{{Pun}} Zenkai]]'' (前回) ''no Zenkaiger wa''".
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Magine is the only female of the core team.
* TransformationTrinket:
** The core team uses their sidearm gatling gun Geartlinger to transform, along with the Sentai Gears, gears that harness the powers of all 45 ''Super Sentai''. Twokaizer uses a gunblade called the Geardalinger.
*** Zenkaizer uses Gear #45, representing the Zenkaigers, whilst also being based on ''Series/HimitsuSentaiGoranger''.
*** Zenkai Juran uses Gear #16, based on ''Series/KyoryuSentaiZyuranger''.
*** Zenkai Gaon uses Gear #25, based on ''Series/HyakujuuSentaiGaoranger''.
*** Zenkai Magine uses Gear #29, based on ''Series/MahouSentaiMagiranger''.
*** Zenkai Vroon uses Gear #30, based on ''Series/GoGoSentaiBoukenger''.
*** Twokaizer uses Gear #35, based on ''Series/KaizokuSentaiGokaiger''. He can also use Gear #33 - Cutanner, based on ''Series/SamuraiSentaiShinkenger'', and Gear #19 - Ricky, based on ''Series/ChourikiSentaiOhranger'', to perform a literal FusionDance with either one of his brothers to access his Shinken and Ohren forms respectively.

*** Gear #12 - ''Series/ChoujuuSentaiLiveman'': Grants its user(s) Red Falcon's Falcon Sword.
*** Gear #13 - ''Series/KousokuSentaiTurboranger'': Grants its user(s) SuperSpeed.[[note]]The Turborangers themselves never had such an ability in their show, but alongside fellow vehicle-themed Sentai such as the Carrangers and Go-Ongers, they have been depicted with it in more recent appearances.[[/note]]
*** Gear #14 - ''Series/ChikyuuSentaiFiveman'': Grants its user Five Red's scientific {{book smart}}s to perform an EnemyScan for their LogicalWeakness.
*** Gear #15 - ''Series/ChoujinSentaiJetman'': The first Sentai Gear to have the effect depend on the situation. As seen in #18, it causes its targets to re-enact [[BreakingTheFourthWall the final scenes of the series]], with its main target playing the role of [[spoiler:Gai [[DeathIsDramatic in his tragic death]]]] in order to incapacitate them. In #41, it summons Yellow Owl to throw a tomato he grew at an enemy.

*** Gear #17 - ''Series/GoseiSentaiDairanger'': Grants its user(s) the Dairen Rods, and the use of certain techniques such as Shishiranger's ''[[MasterOfIllusion Illusory Sotetsu Liner]]''. 121*** Gear #24 - ''Series/MiraiSentaiTimeranger'': Allows its user(s) to [[TimeMaster manipulate time]] using the Timerangers' Vector End.[[note]]The Timerangers never had this ability in-series, but the show justifies it by stating that because they are (mostly) a team from the future that's living in the present; therefore allowing them rewind time for their purposes.[[/note]]
*** Gear #25 - ''Series/HyakujuuSentaiGaoranger'': Enhances the users Wild Instincts, giving them fighting abilities akin to the Gaorangers.
*** Gear #26 - ''Series/NinpuuSentaiHurricaneger'': For the Zenkaigers, it grants its user(s) the ability to perform the ''[[SignatureMove Super Ninpo, Dance of Shadows]]''. 138*** Gear #41 - ''Series/UchuSentaiKyuranger'': For the Zenkaigers, it grants its user(s) Shishi Red's BornLucky powers. For Twokaizer, it allows him to grow giant akin to Koguma Sky Blue.
*** Gear #42 - ''Series/KaitouSentaiLupinrangerVSKeisatsuSentaiPatranger'': Activates the finishing blast of either team. Depending on the Gear used, the attack is shaped as the respective team insignia. Magazine scans also show that the Lupinranger Gear can be used for MasterOfUnlocking and WireFu abilities, while the Patranger Gear provides SuperToughness and ImprobableAimingSkills, [[InformedAbility but these were all not used in the series proper]]. The Patranger Gear is later used in the series proper to perform a FusionDance for its targets.

*** Gear #46 - ''Series/AvataroSentaiDonBrothers''[[note]]Announced by the Geartlinger as ''Shin-ban/新番/"New Number"! New hero!''[[/note]]: A unique Gear shaped like the [=DonBrothers=]' Avataro Gears. Summons Don Momotaro and his CoolBike Enya Rideon.
*** Gear #非(''Hi''/"Un(official)"[[note]]Announced by the Geartlinger as ''Ketsu-ban/欠番/"No Number"''[[/note]]) - ''Series/HikoninSentaiAkibaranger'': Causes opponents to raise {{Death Flag}}s to ensure their defeat.
*** All Red Gear: Summons all the past Red Warriors.
*** Zen{{kaiju}} Gear: A MiniMecha that powers up Zenkaizer and Twokaizer into Super Zenkaizer and Super Twokaizer. Based on a FusionDance of [[Series/KyoryuSentaiZyuranger Dragon Caesar]] and [[Series/MiraiSentaiTimeranger V-Rex]], it grants each mecha's abilities to each of them respectively.

** On the Tozitend side, Stacy uses the Geartozinger, a purple copy of the Geartlinger, to transform into Stacaesar. He also wields the ''Dark Sentai Gears'', purple copies of the Sentai Gears which allow him to summon entire Sentai teams, as well as their mecha.
%%** In addition to the Geartlinger, ''Zenkaiger'' brings back customized weapons for the Kikanoid Zenkaigers:
%%*** Zenkai Juran wields the [[KnightlySwordAndShield Juran Sword and Juran Shield]].
%%*** Zenkai Gaon wields the [[WolverineClaws Gaon Claw]].
%%*** Zenkai Magine wields the [[MagicStaff Magine Stick]].
%%*** Zenkai Vroon wields the [[PowerfulPick Vroon Picker]].
%%** Stacaesar uses the Geartozinger, which is a knockoff of the Geartlinger, as his main weapon. While the Geartlinger merely grants its user various abilities and weapons of the Sentai it summons, the Geartozinger summons an EvilKnockoff of the Sentai or its mecha depending on the circumstance.
%%** Twokaizer uses the Geardalinger, a MixAndMatchWeapon that can switch between its gun and sword modes. It's also a tambourine, which while mainly used for his transformations, is also occasionally used to plant targets on his opponents for his anchor-shaped HomingLasers fired at the end.
----
!!''Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger'' provides examples of:
* ActorAllusion:
** Episode 43 has the MOTW modeled on Anime/GaoGaiGar and Guy Shishio, voiced by Creator/NobuyukiHiyama.
** Episode 44 has the head of the MOTW shaped like [[{{Series/DenshiSentaiDenziman}} DaiDenzin]], and is voiced by none other than Denzi Green himself, Creator/NaoyaUchida.
* AscendedMeme: Upon Twokaizer's reveal in Japan, his resemblance to the Gokaigers actually ended up getting [=GokaiGold=] [[https://twitter.com/NihonHero/status/1383638851151831041 trending in Japan]] instead of his actual name. Episode 9 has his resemblance to the Gokaigers be poked at, justifying as an in-universe rip-off.
* AsideComment: [[spoiler: In the last scene of the last episode, Kaito tells the home audience to take care before the team leaves to visit other worlds.]]
* BeachEpisode: Episode 24 has our heroes relaxing and chilling at a beach... with Vacance Wald, aka ''the MOTW''.
* BirthdayEpisode: Kaito's 21st birthday happens in episode 39.
* BorrowedCatchphrase: Much like has been seen with legacy items in ''Franchise/KamenRider'', the Zenkaigers tend to call out the catchphrase of past Sentai heroes, primarily the Red Rangers, when using their team's Gear.
** In #1, Juran evokes Takaharu Igasaki / [=AkaNinger=]'s catchphrase of "I'm fired up!" (''"Moete kita!"'') whilst using the ''Ninninger'' Gear.
** In #3, Kaito, when utilizing the ''[=ToQger=]'' Gear, uses Right Suzuki / [=ToQ=] #1's "All aboard!" (''"Shuppatsu shinkou!"'') line just before the "train" consisting of the Zenkaigers takes off. Juran then uses the [=ToQ=] Changer's "please wait behind the white line" when they are blitzing through the Kudacks.
** In #5, Kaito uses Lucky / Shishi Red's catchphrase "Talk about lucky!" (''"Yosha lucky!"'') when the ''Kyuranger'' Gear gives him good luck.
** In #6, Magine invokes Hiromu Sakurada / Red Buster's catchphrase and pose ("Ready, go!") when she uses the ''Go-Busters'' Gear.
** In #8, Kaito yells Juuru Atsuta / [=KirameiRed=]'s catchphrase "Hirameki~ng!" whilst using the ''Kiramager'' Gear.
** It even applies to crossover abilities. In #20, Juran uses the ''Series/KamenRiderZiO'' Gear, and says Sougo's catchphrase "I think I can do this!" before performing a finisher, while Kaito uses the ''Series/KamenRiderSaber'' Gear, and borrows Touma's "I decide how this story ends!" line.
* BlackComedy:
** #18 has an absolutely ''glorious'' scene in where Sentai Gear #15 (''Series/ChoujinSentaiJetman'') enacts a ShotForShotRemake of the finale of said series, including ''[[spoiler:Gai's death.]]'' While in ''Jetman'', it's played completely seriously, ''Zenkaiger'''s rendition of it is so melodramatic and absurd that it ended up becoming one of the most iconic moments of the series.
** #45 has Kaito summon [[Series/HimitsuSentaiGorenger Kirenger]], [[Series/BattleFeverJ Battle Cossack]] and [[Series/ChoudenshiBioman Yellow 4]] to fight Onikuji Wald. However, Omikuji Wald's ProphecyTwist powers cause them to [[spoiler:''die in the exact fashion they did back in their series'': Kirenger gets stabbed while holding a bomb, Battle Cossack takes his suit off and gets shot, and Yellow 4 absorbs a massive amount of Anti-Bio Particles and explodes.]]
* BookEnds: The first and last episodes both have Kaito trying to bungee jump off of the Tokyo Sky Tree.
* BreakingOldTrends: Fittingly for the series's theme of being the "World's First", to say that ''Zenkaiger'' breaks quite a few rules for ''Sentai'' would be a bit of an {{understatement}}.
** This is the first series that heavily strays from the standard "(mostly) human team" formula, featuring ''[[TokenHuman only one human]]'' (later joined by a {{Human Alien|s}}) while the rest of the team are humanoid aliens who are not given any (permanent) human form to assume the disguise of.[[note]]While ''Series/UchuSentaiKyuranger'' also consisted of a large number of nonhuman warriors, more than half of the main team are still humans/HumanAliens. ''Series/DoubutsuSentaiZyuohger'' also featured a token human in a team of humanoid animals, but they were also given {{human disguise}}s that stuck throughout the season.[[/note]]
** While not the first to have White as the leader, it is the first to have White as the lead viewpoint character instead of Red.
** On the subject of Kaito, he is the first non-red to take part in the traditional send-off.
** This is the first team with highly individualistic Ranger forms that share almost nothing in common with each other.
** While not the first Sentai series to be followed up by a connected sequel (that honor goes to ''Series/DenshiSentaiDenziman''), it is the first to have the technology for the next series be actively worked on in parallel with the current story (with Isao Goshikida directly producing Sentai Gear #46 as used by [=DonMomotaro=] rather than a separate gear that fits into the Geartlinger), and to have the EarlyBirdCameo for the next series be incorporated into the show's endgame.
** {{Averted}} for its place in the Reiwa Era. They're not the first Reiwa Sentai, that honor goes to ''[[Series/MashinSentaiKiramager Kiramager]].''
* CallBack:
** Zenkai Juran, Zenkai Gaon, Zenkai Magine and Zenkai Vroon are all call-backs to 4 mechas (Daizyuzin, [=GaoKing=], [=MagiKing=], and [=DaiBouken=] respectively) that the [[Series/TokumeiSentaiGoBusters Go-Busters]]' mecha transformed into in the climax of [[Film/TokumeiSentaiGobustersVsKaizokuSentaiGokaigerTheMovie their movie]] with the [[Series/KaizokuSentaiGokaiger Gokaigers]] via mecha Gokai Changes.
** The main team being composed of one TokenHuman and four non-human aliens from a parallel dimension was done before in [[Series/DoubutsuSentaiZyuohger the previous anniversary series]], though the Zyumans were given human forms as disguises by their transformation devices.
* CastingGag:
** While this isn't the first time Creator/TatsuhisaSuzuki has voiced a [[Series/TokumeiSentaiGoBusters robotic assist character]], Gege isn't exactly the shining image of good.
** The first episode has Kaito being asked if he's trying to bungee-jump off of the Tokyo Skytree for Website/YouTube, which he denies. Kiita Komagine, on the other hand, has a fairly active [[https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChk_STQClriOGAodMGJ3_rw/featured [=YouTube=] channel]].
** The Geartlinger's finisher is announced as ''"Hero/Kikai! Super Zenkai Time!"''. Lenne Hardt, the voice of the Geartlinger, was previously the opening and closing announcer for the ''Super Hero Time'' KidsBlock on TV Asahi from 2005 to 2007.
** Creator/TomokazuSeki voices the ''[[Series/KaizokuSentaiGokaiger Gokaiger]]''-based Twokaizer's [[TransformationTrinket Geardalinger]], having previously been the [[ComputerVoice system voice]] for all of the Gokaigers' own equipment.
* CerebusRetcon: Gaon's {{Boomerang Bigot}}ry was usually PlayedForLaughs for most of the series, mostly in how he interacts with his teammates. Episode 22 has Juran finally confront him for his bigotry, making him realize how deeply harmful his bigotry can be against the team's goals.
* CerebusRollercoaster: ''Zenkaiger'''s wacky sense of humor often gets juxtaposed by genuine, heartfelt moments and emotional scenes. When it's not heartfelt, it dips into a somewhat cerebral, horror-esque tone as it delves into the lore.
* CloseOnTitle: Episode 49 ends with the episode's title being shown followed by the show's logo.
* CosmicHorrorReveal: While the conflict between the Zenkaigers and Tozitend can get serious at times, ''Zenkaiger'' is mostly a wacky ''Sentai'' series. [[spoiler:Then #46 reveals the existence of "The Creator of the Worlds", a god-like being who [[GreaterScopeVillain manipulated the events of the series in order to preserve his creations]]. While he loves creating the parallel worlds, he's deeply apathetic as to what happens to them, which is why he allowed the Tozitend to seal them all, even encouraging their tyrannical ways through Gege. Kaito luckily manages to convince him to take better care of the worlds by appealing to his love of fun.]]
* CouchGag:
** The episode title card has a different effect each episode. Some are more subtle than others.
** The quick shots in the OP of all five Zenkaigers in combat, and then hanging out at the Colorful candy shop, are done differently each week - there's even a BrickJoke of sorts when one shot in episode 4 shows Colorful completely empty, only for later episodes to reveal that it's because they're all playing hide and seek. Starting from episode 9, a shot with Zocks's siblings is added to the mix.
* CrimeSpreeMontage: #21 has the evil duplicates of Zox and Kaito created by Copy Wald being shown going on a montage of crimes.
* CrossoverAlternateUniverse:
** The Gokaiger World is implied to be one; a recurring depiction of all the Sentai Worlds being sealed into Gears has them being represented by team images, the Gokaigers' showing them standing in front of all their predecessors. This indicates that the Gokaiger World has their own versions of the first 34 Super Sentai, justifiable since ''Gokaiger'' itself hinges on their existence (part of the premise is that assuming the forms of previous Super Sentai is one of the Gokaigers' key powers). It may also include post-''Gokaiger'' Sentai, since the various crossovers since then, most notably ''[[Series/FourWeekContinuousSuperSentaiStrongestBattle Super Sentai Strongest Battle]]'', had to have happened somewhere.
** One of the last episodes reveals there is a "Super Sentai Topia" suggesting that in addition to all these worlds there's also a world where EVERY Sentai has happened. It's also suggested that just because a ''Sentai'' team is the "main" team of that world doesn't mean some of the other Sentais don't exist in their world as well explaining some of the in series crossovers like in ''Zyuohger'', ''Kiramager'' and ''Ninninger''. This would explain why ''Denziman'' and ''Sun Vulcan'' both have their own "Topia" despite the shows needing to be in the same universe to work because of both having Queen Hedrian as a major antagonist.
* DenserAndWackier: ''Zenkaiger'' is this to the LighterAndSofter ''[[Series/MashinSentaiKiramager Kiramager]]'', with its far more outlandish characters (on both ends no less), absurd comedy, and propensity for bizarre occurrences thanks to the Walds. Overall, the series doesn't really try to take itself too seriously, aside from the more serious moments that pop up (and even then, they tend to get MoodWhiplash soon after).
* DiegeticSoundtrackUsage: Juran tries to get everybody up and exercising while playing the Zenkaiger opening theme on the stereo in episode 42.
* EarlyBirdCameo:
** Episode 9 adds as much Twokaizer-related stuff to the EvolvingCredits as possible, including [=TwokaiOh=] -- which doesn't actually debut until Episode 12.
** Don Momotaro guest-stars in Episode 42, a few months before his own show, ''[=DonBrothers=]'', debuts.
* EiffelTowerEffect: In full force in episode 8, when the Door Wald uses a randomised PortalNetwork to send our heroes across the world in every direction imaginable, and ''always'' within view of all the landmarks that come under this trope, even some lesser known ones like the Marina Bay Sands and Merlion in UsefulNotes/{{Singapore}}.
* FamilyThemeNaming: The Goshikida family are all one big InternalHomage to Super Sentai; in addition to the MeaningfulName referencing the archetypal Sentai, Kaito's parents are named after Series/HimitsuSentaiGorenger's theme song singers Creator/IsaoSasaki and Creator/MitsukoHorie, while his grandmother Yatsude takes after Sentai producers' collective pen name Saburo Yatsude.
* FantasticRacism:
** Despite most people adjusting to the sudden appearance of Kikainoids on Earth, they quickly grow fearful of them once the Tozitend Dynasty invades, leading to Juran being shunned by a group of humans in episode 1 when he tries to fend off a Kudaiter general. Unusually for this trope, the dust settles in about a week and Kikainoid civilians have successfully integrated into society, even finding jobs... [[InterspeciesRomance and love.]]
** This is PlayedForLaughs with Gaon, who loves animals to the point of shunning ''[[BoomerangBigot his own race]]'' because they aren't as cute and fluffy as the animals (and humans) of Earth. It gradually becomes more PlayedForDrama as the series goes by, coming to a head in Episode 22 as Juran confronts Gaon about his bigotry, inadvertently unlocking his JerkassRealization and CharacterDevelopment.
* FusionDance: Super Warumono Wald appears to be made up of several Sentai [[BigBad Big Bads.]]
* GratuitousEnglish: Used fairly liberally within the series, even more so than previous ''Sentai'' series. Juran's the most guilty of this, often saying random English words such as "maybe" in conversation. The Goldtsuikers often use English as well, sometimes even combining Japanese and English such as ''sarabye''.
* HalloweenEpisode: Episode 34.
* HaveYouToldAnyoneElse: Textbook example in episode 4, when Ijirude learns about the captured worlds being liberated every time a Wald is struck down, from Vroon of all people.
* LegionOfDoom: The first movie has one including [[Series/HimitsuSentaiGorenger Baseball Mask]], [[Series/ChoudenshiBioman Bio Hunter Silva]], [[Series/GoGoSentaiBoukenger Yaiba of Darkness]], [[Series/TensouSentaiGoseiger Kingon of the Bigfoot]], [[Series/KaizokuSentaiGokaiger Damaras, Basco, Sally]], [[Series/ResshaSentaiToqger General Schwartz]], [[Series/ShurikenSentaiNinninger Kyuemon Shingetsu Kibaoni, Raizo Gabi]], [[Series/DoubutsuSentaiZyuohger Quval, Bangray]], [[Series/UchuuSentaiKyuranger Eridoron]], [[Series/KaitouSentaiLupinrangerVsKeisatsuSentaiPatranger Destra Maijo and Zamigo Delma]], flanked by {{Mooks}} from every Sentai show.
* MeaningfulName:
** The Goshikida family name contains the kanji for "five colors".
** Kaito's is a special case, taking the kanjis "da/田" and "kai/介" and combining them forms an alternate "kai/界", which means "world", giving his full name an alternate meaning of "Five-Colour World Person/五色界人".
* TheMultiverse: In the setting of this series, each past ''Super Sentai'' takes place in their own universe, along with many other parallel worlds. The Tozitend conquered ''all of these worlds'' and has their sights set on the world of the Zenkaigers. However, something went wrong with their invasion, preventing the instant victories they'd grown used to and yanking a chunk of Kikaitopia into that world with them. The crossover with ''Saber'' adds the ''Franchise/KamenRider'' SharedUniverse into the mix, it being revealed that the Tozitend missed this one universe.
* MythologyGag: [[MythologyGag/KikaiSentaiZenkaiger Has its own page.]] Since ''Zenkaiger'' is the 45th anniversary of ''Franchise/SuperSentai'', it's safe to expect many homages to past ''Sentai'' series.
* NiceMeanAndInBetween:
** The three male human leads form this dynamic. Kaito is a NiceGuy who's a [[IdiotHero bit dense]] (nice), Zocks is an UnscrupulousHero who does keep his word (in-between, though he can lean on mean), and Stacy is a [[TheStoic stoic]] soldier who's aligned with the Tozitend, though he's not quite as villainous (mean, but heavily leans on in-between).
** The three main factions since episode 8: the Zenkaigers are straight heroes who fight to protect everyone no matter what (nice), the Goldtsuikers are [[AntiHero anti-heroes]] who fight against the Tozitend for their own goals (in-between), and the Tozitend are the main villains of the story (mean).
* NonStandardCharacterDesign:
** While Zenkaizer is fairly normal, if ornate, the rest of the Zenkaigers are very obviously mechanical and far more armored than usual, looking more like ''Metal Heroes''.
** The inverse also applies within the team; as Zenkaizer is the TokenHuman while his form is based on a CoolPlane instead of a proper humanoid mecha, he comes off more like a Ranger-shaped AnthropomorphicPersonification than a RobotSoldier like the rest of the team is.
* NonUniformUniform: Even moreso than the [[Series/UchuSentaiKyuranger Kyurangers]]. The Zenkaigers share almost nothing common between their ranger suits, barring the numbered "V" on their foreheads and their Zenkai Buckle belts (and even so it seems only Zenkaizer's and Twokaizer's work as an actual Gear holder).
** There is a minor downplay between Zenkai Juran and Zenkai Gaon, thanks to KibblesAndBits. Both of their suits feature [[BellyMouth a creature head-shaped torso]], clawed feet, similar forearm armor, a backpack-like armor on their backs (which each forms half a hip of Zenkai-Oh), and ShouldersOfDoom with their unique emblems emblazoned on it (which forms the chest of Zenkai-Oh).
* OcularGushers: Magine does this in episode 3 when she gets reunited with her old friend Zyuran.
* OddballInTheSeries: It is safe to say that this time, the rulebook has not only been thrown away, but trashed and burnt to nothingness. Normally, there are multiple rangers who can summon mecha. This time however, there's just one human ranger, and the rest of the team ''are'' the mecha. While it is not uncommon for someone other than the red ranger to be the leader, they still tend to be the TheFace of the team or take some kind of protagonist role, while Zenkaizer, the white ranger, takes this role instead (though he technically wouldn't be [[Series/JAKQDengekitai the first]]).
* OffTheShelfFX:
** Stacaesar's summoning of past Super Sentai mecha is done through using ''their official toy packagings'' as a medium to come out of.
** In episode 17, when Juran's half of Zenkai-Oh [=JuraGaon=] is turned invisible, Gaon's half is portrayed by the DX toy.
** Happens again in episode 41 where more DX toys were used to portray all the Zenkaigers breaking their CombiningMecha formations because of ''disputes over noodles'' caused by the MonsterOfTheWeek.
* OncePerEpisode:
** The opening, once it nears the end, has a short segment that varies between episode to episode. It's usually showing the gang doing random things within the shop and interacting with each other.
** The first four episodes featured an entire battle sequence taking place ''[[RuleOfCool within an]] [[BigBallOfViolence explosion]]'', usually as a CurbStompBattle in favor of the Zenkaigers.
** Almost every episode has a team roll-call that is completely distinct from one another, whether through visual gags or actions. Compare the rollcalls from episode 1 and episode 5, which both feature Zenkaizer and Zenkai Juran, yet they do the pose and shouting differently.
** Every episode after the first always starts with Setchan stating a PreviouslyOn segment. Each has their variation and gag, like Setchan looking away before facing the audience, flying around haphazardly, or even busting in a seemingly empty room just to say his catchphrase.
* PersonalityPowers: The Zenkaigers' personalities somewhat reflect the nature of the Sentai powers they represent.
** Kaito aims to be "Number One" at everything he sets his goals on; he represents the very [[Series/HimitsuSentaiGoranger first Sentai team]] and is TheLeader.
** Juran is the oldest of the group; he represents a [[Series/KyoryuSentaiZyuranger dinosaur-based Sentai]], which get their powers from the aforementioned ancient creatures, as well as representing the oldest Sentai among the group barring Kaito.
** Gaon is an AnimalLover; he represents an [[Series/HyakujuuSentaiGaoranger animal-based Sentai]].
** Magine is a fantasy and magic geek; she represents the [[Series/MahouSentaiMagiranger mystic Sentai]].
** Vroon is ConstantlyCurious; he represents a [[Series/GogoSentaiBoukenger Sentai of adventurers]].
** Zocks is a swashbuckling marauder; he represents a [[Series/KaizokuSentaiGokaiger Sentai of pirates]].
* PhlebotinumRebel:
** The Zenkaigers are mostly comprised of Kikainoids, who hail from the same dimension as their {{evil overlord}}s, the Tozitend, and seek to rebel and defeat them in order to save all the worlds.
** The Tozitend use the evil Toziru Gears for their schemes, while the Zenkaigers use the same technology-based good counterpart, the Sentai Gears. This was lampshaded in episode 2, when both sides learn that they all use Gears to fight. It's no wonder when it turns out Ijirude actually [[EvilKnockoff ripped off the Goshikida scientists' technology]].
** This gets used ''against the Zenkaigers'' when Ijirude additionally creates the Geartozinger and Dark Gears based off the Zenkaigers' equipment to directly counter them. %%The fact that he plagiarized the Goshikidas' tech doesn't help matters either.
* ProductPlacement: Colorful prominently hosts Bandai branded Capsule Station gashapon machines, as well as a number of actual Bandai-produced snacks and candies.
* PutOnABus: Almost parodied as most of the show tends to do with Twokaiser and Flint who "leave" with a big send off towards the end of the show complete with the actors posting goodbye on social media and them being removed from the credits, only to return after being gone for only one episode.
* RecklessGunUsage: Well, it's the Geartlinger, but more the same. Magine in the third episode points the Geartlinger near her face, coming close to ''accidentally shooting herself''.
* {{Retraux}}: Zenkaiser has holes in his visor, reminiscent of ''[[Series/HimitsuSentaiGorenger Gorenger]]'' and ''[[Series/JAKQDengekitai JAKQ]]'''s helmets. The holes were needed back then due to the way the visors were made, but nowadays a visor can be any color and still let the suit actor see out of it[[note]]It's commonly theorized that black/dark visors easily hide the suit actors' eyes like how sunglasses work, while brightly-colored visors have their helmets switched between completely opague versions for still shots/closeups and ones with hundreds of tinier grain-sized holes that are harder to be captured on camera for more complex scenes and choreography.[[/note]]. This just ups the homage aspects towards those two series even more.
* RhymingNames: Kik'''ai''' Sent'''ai''' Zenk'''ai'''ger. Also in that they deal with parallel worlds, also known as "sek'''ai'''", while episode titles play with the word "kai".
* RunningGag:
** Almost every episode features a unique non-standard InTheNameOfTheMoon rolecall, usually due to our heroes being influenced or inconvenienced by the MonsterOfTheWeek's effects.
** The [[{{BFG}} Zenryoku Zenkai Cannon]]'s [[RecoiledAcrossTheRoom recoil being so strong]] no one's able to handle it.
*** On Zenkaizer's initial use, he did get RecoiledAcrossTheRoom. He tries to prevent this from his next use onwards by using his heavy Super Zenkaizer form, with the rest of the Zenkaigers supporting him from behind in a human train formation, but even then ''everyone at the front (sans [[TheBigGuy Zenkai Vroon]])'' gets blown off their feet into the air.
*** In episode 32, Kaito in Stacaesar's body uses it and also gets RecoiledAcrossTheRoom. It conveniently causes him to drop the weapon which allows Zenkaizer to retrieve it when he returned to his body.
*** In episode 36, Zenkai Juran was lent the weapon, but as he [[GenreSavvy starts getting cold feet]] over the recoil he hands it over to Zenkai Vroon to handle better while everyone held onto him waist-down to stabilize him. Unfortunately, everyone forgot Zenkai Vroon has a DetachableLowerHalf ability, causing his free-moving upper half to get blown away from the recoil instead.
* ShoutOut:
** In his initial BehemothBattle, [=JuranTyranno=] can be seen using his BreathWeapon to propel himself towards the enemy in a fashion similar to [[Film/GodzillaVsHedorah another prehistoric reptile]].
** Episode 2 has an [[https://twitter.com/koba200x1/status/1370900357811896323 homage]] to the ''Galatica Magnum'' punch of ''Manga/RingNiKakero'' when Kinoko Wald does his ''Galactica Mushroom'' MegatonPunch towards Juran.
** Boxing Wald's last words references ''Manga/TomorrowsJoe'''s narration of the final scene.
** Stacy's summoning of past Sentai through the Darkness Gears is very akin to [[Series/KamenRiderDecade Kamen Rider Diend]]'s summoning of past secondary Kamen Riders through the Kamen Ride cards, all the way down the transformation device in the shape of a gun.
*** Similarly, a dark counterpart of the hero, who transforms into a form mostly dominated by black and purple by pointing the gun on his hand? Sounds like [[Series/KamenRiderDrive Chase]].
*** The Darkness Gears also bring to mind the [[Series/KamenRiderZiO Another Ridewatches]]. Both have uniform purple edges to distinguish them from their heroic counterparts, and when used produce low-pitched versions of the typical announcements.
** When Zocks arrives for the first time in episode 8, his ship [=CrocoDaiOh=] emerges from dark clouds and is illuminated by lights. It's practically the same shot they used for ''Series/SpaceSheriffGavan'' whenever Dolgiran is summoned.
** Episode 11 has Cutanner and Ricky arguing over whether anpan or cream puffs are better. To try and defuse the argument, Kaito suggests combining the two, doing so in a way that evokes Pikotaro's PPAP/Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen.
** Episode 15 has Great Retro Wald strike a move that is very similar to ''Series/{{Ultraman}}'': the Spacium Ray! And from the same episode, between all the references Great Retro Wald forces the heroes to do, one of them is performing Iyami's "Sheeee" pose from ''[[Manga/{{Osomatsukun}} Osomatsu-kun]]'' when surprised.
** After getting stuck between two cars in Episode 16, Vroon says "I'll be back" and gives a thumbs-up in a clear nod to ''Film/Terminator2JudgmentDay''.
** Toumei Wald, from episode 17, [[Literature/TheInvisibleMan looks like he's covered in bandages and wearing shades.]]
** Episode 18:
*** Two Kikainoids under Renai Wald's thrall act out the iconic "flying" scene from ''Film/Titanic1997''.
*** Super Renai Wald's special attack is called "[[Music/TheBeatles Love Me Do]]".
** Episode 19:
*** The first victims of the Kabutomushi Wald are [[Music/TheBeatles a group of civilians walking down a pedestrian]]. You know, [[{{Pun}}The Beatles]].
*** The Zenkaiju Gear acts like Fang Memory from ''Series/KamenRiderW''. The blog even states how it "somehow looks like it would give you the courage to ride with the black and white demon."
*** In the production blog it is mentioned that director Fukuzawa's idea for the wire action was inspired by the light gun technique in a certain [[VideoGame/MonsterHunterRise "hunt the monster" game that was recently released!]]
** Episode 21:
*** Among the things Copy Kaito and Copy Zocks did during their crime spree are donning Manga/CatsEye costumes while holding to a grappling hook, and steel gold bars while looking like Franchise/LupinIII - bonus for featuring both green and red jackets!
*** When [=ZenKaijuOh=] is formed, it roars with mostly a dark background with light emanating from its position, much like the reveal shot of [[spoiler:Godzilla Junior being the new Godzilla]] in ''Film/GodzillaVsDestoroyah''.
*** Similarly, the production notes made it a point to have a background music that mimic the ''[[Franchise/{{Godzilla}} Godzilla March]]'' theme for this fight.
** There's a short range ContinuityNod when episode 28 is about a Manga Wald and episode 29 has a Tennis Wald, and Zocks thinks he can deal with it after having read a manga about tennis. Said manga is a BlandNameProduct of ''Manga/ThePrinceOfTennis'' called ''The Pirates of Tennis''.
*** Said Manga Wald also sports a beret. One of the most notable beret-wearing mangaka out there is Creator/OsamuTezuka.
*** Pay attention to the props during the giant mecha fight. A bunch of the manga scattered around references popular titles and artstyles, like a a matador manga featuring Manga/JojosBizarreAdventure style complete with its popular "menacing" onomatopoeias.
** Episode 29:
*** Tennis Wald is based on ''Manga/AimForTheAce'' rival Reika, complete with pink clothing and OjouRinglets ''made of tennis balls''.
*** Various cut-ins and effects are based on ''Manga/ThePrinceOfTennis'' panels.
*** Similarly, the grinding finisher "Satoshi" did against Tennis Wald is the Twist Smash technique Ryoma Echizen (the protagonist of the manga) likes to perform.
** In episode 33, all of the guys briefly dress up as JapaneseDelinquents, and Magine's [[Manga/SukebanDeka weapon of choice is a yo-yo.]]
** When Great Mukaikaze Wald gets finished in episode 43, he yells out "''[[Anime/GaoGaiGar KAZE NI NAREEEE!]]''" To put it into perspective, he is voiced by Creator/NobuyukiHiyama. Also doubles as a MythologyGag to ''Series/NinpuuSentaiHurricaneger'', as it is the closing lines of the opening song.
** In episode 47, Bat Wald uses a literal [[Theatre/GoldenBat golden bat]].
* SlidingScaleOfSillinessVsSeriousness: The series is firmly on the "silliness" side most of the time thanks to its copious amounts of slapstick, surreal comedy, wacky characters, and overall sense of light fun. Its most heartfelt and horrifying moments are more of the serious side of the scale.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: A number of names, due to a lack of official Japanese romanisations.
** Officially it's "Zenkaizer" and "Twokaizer", despite how the word "Kaiser" is spelled.
** Juran's name was originally assumed to be spelt as "''Zy''uran".
** The villains are called "Tojitendo" in Japanese, but spelt as "Tozitend" in English.
** The {{mook}}s: Kudack, Kudakk, or Kuddack?
** The MonsterOfTheWeek are called "Warudo" by Japanese pronunciation, a corrupted shortened form of the word "World/Waarudo". While the logical English equivalent would be along the lines of "Wald", without an official romanisation fans spell it as "World" regardless.
** Zocks's surname was initially assumed to be "Goldtweaker" by pronunciation, but official spellings vary from ''"Gorldtsuikar"'' to ''"Goldtsuiker"''.
* SuddenNameChange: Ijirude initially named his knockoff Sentai Gears as the Ankoku/Dark Gears. Later media properly renames them as the ''Dark Sentai Gears''.
* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: A recurring gag in the first two episodes. Kaito is surprised to learn that when you give someone the Geartlinger, their first thought ''isn't'' to transform with it, but to just ''shoot the enemy.'' It makes sense as the thing would come across more as just a gun than an actual TransformationTrinket at first glance.
* TwoLinesNoWaiting: From episode 15 onwards, there is an ongoing subplot about Stacy hanging around at Colorful as he increasingly questions his reasons for staying with the Tozitend, while the Zenkaigers are busy dealing with the latest Wald's plan.
* UnspokenPlanGuarantee: The climax of episode 8 hinges heavily on all four Kikainoids getting the same idea to just physically walk back to Japan.
* VacationEpisode: Everybody relaxes and enjoys the summer because of the effect of Vacation World in episode 24.
* WhamEpisode: Episode 34 reveals Hakaizer's true identity to be [[spoiler:Kaito's long-lost father Isao]].
* WhenDimensionsCollide: The series starts off a month after Kikaitopia has overlapped with Earth, bringing the Kikainoids over to our world. The MonsterOfTheWeek, Walds, also causes Earth to overlap with the parallel world each of the Walds represent through their own presence.
* WingDingEyes: Happens to all the good guys during the giant robot battle because of Love World's overwhelming influence.
* WorldOfHam: The series does ''not'' hold back the hog herd when it comes to drama.
