''Power Rangers Cosmic Fury'' is the 30th season of the long-running ''Franchise/PowerRangers'' franchise, first announced in August 2022 and premiered on September 29th, 2023. It uses the zords and footage from ''Series/UchuSentaiKyuranger'', while everything else (including the rangers' costumes) will be original footage.

Following the final fight against the Void Queen and the Sporix, things had calmed down as humanity joined the Rafkon people in living in peace on Earth. However, Zayto, having previously sacrificed himself to stop the Sporix threat, was resurrected with a brand new mission: Lord Zedd, previously resurrected and trapped in crystal, had broken free. However, what they have isn't enough. To defeat Zedd and stop the threat he represents, the Rangers must hunt down brand new powers and a new fleet of Zords and they'll be doing that with the aid of a veteran Ranger...

This season sees the return of the entire main cast of ''Dino Fury'', the first time a cast returned for a third season since ''Series/MightyMorphinPowerRangers'' Season 3. The cast will be joined by Creator/DavidYost, reprising his role as Billy Cranston/Mighty Morphin' Blue Ranger, straight from his appearance in ''Film/MightyMorphinPowerRangersOnceAndAlways''.

This is the last season [[https://www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment/power-rangers-series-leaving-new-zealand-after-being-produced-here-for-more-than-20-years/OSBUL6UWERGX5GP7T5ZPQPO2HQ/#:~:text=Power%20Rangers%20will%20no%20longer,for%20more%20than%2020%20years produced in New Zealand]] as Hasbro plans on moving production to a new location.

This season is [[EndOfAnEra the last to be set in the original continuity]], with Jonathan Entwistle’s upcoming series acting as a hard reboot.

!!Common Power Rangers Tropes:
* AllYourBaseAreBelongToUs: In what may be a record for this show, it happens in ''the second episode''. [[spoiler:Lord Zedd blows up Dinohenge, destroying the team's powers with it. The Rangers are forced to retreat by making a BlindJump across the universe, leaving a massive crater at the site of their headquarters.]]
* AllYourColorsCombined: The Rangers jigsaw all of their individual weapons together to form one giant RayGun to finish a fight. Though unlike most examples in the franchise, the Cosmic Blaster isn't assembled until the penultimate episode [[spoiler:when they get Ollie back.]]
* ColorCodedSecretIdentity: As usual the Rangers' wardrobes match their Ranger colours, including [[spoiler:Fern managing to find some orange shortly before getting her powers and Amelia managing to find some new red clothes trapped on the other end of the galaxy in time with her new powers]].
* CombiningMecha: ''Cosmic Fury'' only takes the mechanical fight footage from ''Kyuranger''.Like some of the previous seasons, the Red Ranger's Zord makes up the main body of the Cosmic Fury Megazord, while the other Rangers form the arms and limbs and can be interchanged.
* TheDragon: [[CoDragons Two of them]]. Bajillia Naire, CEO of the EvilInc that is bankrolling Zedd's conquest, and [[spoiler:Ollie Akana, brainwashed by Zedd once again.]]
* MakeMyMonsterGrow: Subverted. Instead of growing, members of Squid Ink Inc. pilot Squidrills, which can transform into their own Megazords. Some monsters are naturally giant sized, though, such as the giant Scuttleworm.
* PerkyFemaleMinion: Squillia Naire, daughter of [[TheDragon Bajillia Naire]] and PhoneaholicTeenager supreme who speaks in [[TotallyRadical TikTok-esque slang]]. When a giant monster and a Megazord duke it out in front of her, she pulls out her phone and squeals, "This is good content!".
* SigilSpam: Not the team logo, but the lightning bolt from the original ''[[Series/MightyMorphinPowerRangers Mighty Morphin]]'' logo is on the Rangers' belt buckles and all of their individual weapons. On the villainous side, [[EvilInc Squid Ink Inc]] puts their cephalopod logo on their foot soldiers, prisons, and even [[spoiler:the belt that comes with Ollie's EvilCostumeSwitch]].
* ShesAManInJapan: Played with. While ''Cosmic Fury'' doesn’t use the ''Kyuranger'' suits, they do use the mecha. In ''Kyuranger'', the Red and Orange Rangers were males, while here the Red and Orange Rangers are females. This also means that Izzy, who corresponded to a man last season, now has a female counterpart in ''Kyuranger'' Green.
* StormingTheCastle: Quite literally, with the Rangers' assault on Zedd's palace on Eltar in the penultimate episode.
* TransformationTrinket: The initial reveal of the suits showed that the new weapons will utilize the Kyutamas from ''Kyuranger'', though not the morpher from said show. In the show proper, Billy develops "Cosmic Orbs" that the Rangers throw in the air, land in their wrist-mounted morphers, and change them into Cosmic Fury Rangers.
* WeaponSpecialization: In contrast to ''Dino Fury'', where everyone except Aiyon wielded swords, each Ranger gets a unique weapon this season. Amelia has a hammer, Zayto has a MagicStaff, Ollie has a blaster, Javi has an axe, Izzy has daggers, Aiyon has an arm-mounted [[SwissArmyWeapon ray gun/saw hybrid]], and [[spoiler:Fern]] has a trident.

!!This show provides examples of:
* AdaptedOut:
** As stated in the announcement, the ''Kyuranger'' suits will not be used by the main team, instead going with something completely original. Nothing past the first 11 ''Kyuranger'' Zords appear here either, meaning Gigant Houou, Orion Battler, Kojishi Voyager and Cerberus Voyager are all absent.
** The ''Kyuranger'' team included not only Red, Green, Black, Blue, Orange and Gold Rangers but also Silver, Skyblue, Pink, Violet and Yellow Rangers, who are absent here. Although Aiyon uses the Yellow Kyuranger's mecha while having the same color motif as the Gold Kyuranger.
* AnArmAndALeg: [[spoiler:Using the Red Morphin Master's staff to activate the Cosmic Fury Zords results in an outburst of energies that completely disintegrate Javi's right arm.]]
* AndTheAdventureContinues: [[spoiler:Billy hears from Aiyon that Zordon is possibly alive. Amelia overhears and is down for helping Billy track him down, which indicates that the Cosmic Fury team's adventures will continue with the quest to find Zordon, not to mention that Scrozzle is still out there]].
* AndStarring: "And David Yost as Billy".
* TheApprentice: While Zedd has little patience for his other underlings failing, he seems genuinely interested in teaching [[spoiler: Ollie]]; these lessons get used against him in the finale.
* ArtificialLimbs: [[spoiler:As a result of losing his arm activating the altar, Javi is given a new arm made by Billy and Solon, but has difficulty controlling it at first.]]
* AscendedToAHigherPlaneOfExistence: [[spoiler:Zayto becomes a Morphin Master once the magical powers given to him by the Morphin' Masters that used to revive him run out, with his mortal body having merged with the Morphin Grid.]]
* BattleCouple: Izzy and Fern become one once [[spoiler:Fern becomes a Power Ranger.]]
* BickeringCouplePeacefulCouple: Carried over from ''Dino Fury'', and taken several steps further. Peaceful couple Izzy and Fern are more committed to each other than ever, and while Amelia and Ollie always had BelligerentSexualTension, in this season, [[spoiler:they're on opposite sides of the war between good and evil]].
* BittersweetEnding: [[spoiler:Zayto ends up AscendingToAHigherPlaneOfExistence at the end of the season as a Morphin Master, but unfortunately this means he can watch his friends from afar but never be with them again. Still, Zayto saved them all from certain destruction, and from there, the team saved the universe, strengthened their bonds, and even gave Lord Zedd a chance to redeem himself. And if any indication can be gained with Billy learning Zordon is possibly alive in the finale (reigniting the hope he lost from the incident he had in ''[[Film/MightyMorphinPowerRangersOnceAndAlways Once & Always]]''), the Cosmic Fury Rangers will soon find themselves on another adventure together]].
* BookEnds: From the original ''Mighty Morphin''', Zordon's "May the power protect you" is a ubiquitous {{catchphrase}} of encouragement to the Rangers. [[spoiler:In the finale, this is exactly what Zordon (in the form of Zayto) says to Aiyon before sending him back to the physical world.]]
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: [[spoiler:Ollie is working with the bad guys again due to one of the monsters spraying a goo that specifically turns him evil.]] Poor guy gets the longest evil stint of any Ranger since Trent in 2004's ''Series/PowerRangersDinoThunder''.
* BreakingOldTrends:
** This is the first time a group of Rangers have been around for more than two seasons since ''[[Series/MightyMorphinPowerRangers Mighty Morphin]]''.
** As shown in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdyuy-hZAao this promotional video]] it's also the first time a Ranger's color on the team has changed since the shift from ''Series/PowerRangersTurbo'' to ''Series/PowerRangersInSpace'', with Zayto becoming the Zenith Ranger and Amelia becoming the Red Ranger.
** The entire team uses American-made costumes. The only other time an original suit has been made for a main Power Ranger was the Titanium Ranger suit in ''Series/PowerRangersLightspeedRescue'' (since Titanium was a CanonForeigner).
** This is the first season to have a female Red protagonist as one of the regular Rangers.[[note]]While Amelia is not the first female Red overall, both Charlie and Lauren only appeared near the end of their seasons.[[/note]]
** Amelia is the first dinosaur themed red ranger to not be based on a ''T. rex'' and Zayto is the first ''T. rex'' themed ranger to not be red.
** The intro is the first since ''[[Series/PowerRangersRPM RPM]]'' to not have "Go Go Power Rangers!" in its chorus.
** Cosmic Fury will have the first Ranger team to have [[spoiler:a queer BattleCouple.]]
** The first series to [[spoiler:have three female Power Rangers in one team]].
** First season to be only ten episodes, instead of the customary 20-22 episodes for seasons after ''[[Series/PowerRangersRPM RPM]]''. (''Mighty Morphin' Alien Rangers'' was also ten episodes, but it was explicitly a miniseries bridging ''Mighty Morphin[='=]'' and ''Zeo'', not a full season in itself.)
** First time Gold has been used as a color of the initial core team, rather than being exclusive to the SixthRanger. Following from that, it's also the first season since ''[[Series/PowerRangersJungleFury Jungle Fury]]'' to not use Gold or Silver for the {{Sixth Ranger}}s' color. Instead, the additional team member is instead colored ''orange'', making them the first official, non one-off Orange Ranger who is actually a proper part of the team in the series.[[note]]Outside of some examples in the BOOM! Studios comics[[/note]]
** This is the first time since ''Series/PowerRangersRPM'' that a team included more than six Rangers with the addition of Billy as the original Blue Ranger.
** While this show has a long history of BrainwashedAndCrazy Rangers, this is the first time [[spoiler:the mind control victim stays evil for nearly the entire season.]]
* TheBusCameBack: Mick returns due to him joining Billy on a research expedition.
* ButNowIMustGo: [[spoiler:The finale has Zayto, now reborn as a Morphin' Master, leaving his friends behind.]]
* CallForward: [[spoiler:When Zedd's busy conquering planets, it's noted that the Rangers have directed evacuees to [[Series/PowerRangersSPD New Tech City]], explaining why that city had so many aliens by the time of ''SPD''.]]
* CastFromHitPoints: [[spoiler: Zayto's]] storyline throughout the season is centered around his [[spoiler: new magical abilities coming from the same magic that revived him, with each use reducing the time he has left before his body returns to the Morphin Grid]].
* ContinuityNod: Fitting for the 30th anniversary season.
** The action begins on Zordnia, where the [[Series/MightyMorphinPowerRangers Mighty Morphin']] team got their Shogun Zords.
** The Red Morphin Master re-empowers Mick as a [[Series/PowerRangersNinjaSteel Red Ninja Steel Ranger]].
** Carlos Garcia boasts about his daughter and her girlfriend, saying that no space dictator will get between them and the Pan-Global Games.
** When Izzy tells Fern about her recent Ranger adventure in space, Fern asks if the team is working with [[Series/PowerRangersInSpace NASADA]].
** Billy, in full TechnoBabble mode, calls the Morphin' Grid "[[Series/PowerRangersRPM the bio-field]]".
** Billy dips out of the action towards the season's endgame so he can help his team save [[Series/PowerRangersDinoThunder Reefside]].
* ContrivedCoincidence: Billy and Mick arrived at Zordnia at the same time as the Dino Fury Rangers due to them going on a research expedition. And said expedition is towards a sacred altar that the Red Morphin' Master guides Javi to.
* CostumeEvolution: As seen in the announcement release, the new suits are almost completely original except keeping the helmets from the ''Dino Fury'' suits. And even those have new, additional adornments.
* DiscardAndDraw: The Rangers' powers and weapons from last season have been destroyed, so they gain new suits and weapons. Averted with Billy, who still uses his original Mighty Morphin Blue suit and powers from 30 years ago.
* EvilCostumeSwitch: [[spoiler:Ollie's Evil Blue Ranger form, courtesy of Zedd and Scrozzle.]] Highlights include [[MoreTeethThanTheOsmondFamily snarling]] [[RedEyesTakeWarning red-eyed]] [[TemperCeratops dinosaur]] [[ShouldersOfDoom shoulder pads]], a [[RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver red and black lightning bolt]] running down the chest, and the logo of the EvilInc that made this all possible on the belt.
* EvilMentor: Zedd becomes a mortality-flipped parallel to Zordon, grooming [[spoiler:brainwashed Ollie]] in the ways of interstellar domination.
* EvolvingCredits: The opening has different alterations after Episode 1. This includes [[spoiler:switching the Dino Fury suits to the Cosmic Fury ones, Amelia and Zayto trading places, Amelia being the Red Cosmic Fury Ranger, Zayto being the Zenith Ranger, Javi having a prosthetic arm, and Fern being the Orange Cosmic Fury Ranger. The last change is Ollie, after spending the first nine episodes sporting a stoic expression (which signified his corruption), smiling again in the finale, signifying his return to good in the previous episode.]]
* FashionableAsymmetry:
** All of the Rangers have silver triangles on the right side of their waist, stopping at their belts. Amelia [[spoiler:and Fern]] has a second set mirroring the first below her belt.
** Javi has a set of armor going down one arm, but not the other. Justified in this case since [[spoiler:he lost his arm trying to activate an altar.]]
* FateWorseThanDeath: A rather humorous one for [[spoiler:Zedd in the final episode, as he ultimately becomes trapped on the Nightmare planet, where he's forced [[HenpeckedHusband to cater to]] an imaginary Rita Repulsa's every whim. Zayto, however, does say that Zedd ''might'' potentially become good some day and free himself.]]
* FirstEpisodeTwist: It's hard to talk about anything related to the Blue Ranger without giving away [[spoiler:that he is brainwashed into being Lord Zedd's general for most of the season.]]
* GenderEqualEnsemble: [[spoiler:Though there are seven Rangers this season plus an HonoraryTrueCompanion, they never all fight together. For much of the series, there are three girls (Amelia, Izzy, and Fern) and three guys (alternating between Javi, Aiyon, Zayto, Billy, and Ollie).]]
* GeniusLoci: One of the planets the Rangers visit, Levvina, is one giant hive mind that connects all of the planet's botanical life. To Aiyon's surprise, it can also speak.
* GreatOffscreenWar: [[spoiler: Throughout the season there's references to other Ranger teams fighting Zedd's forces, being captured and eventually liberated continents in off hand comments]]
* HeroicBuild: The actual physical suits have extra padding that gives off this effect in the male Rangers.
* ImmediateSequel: The show immediately picks off from Zayto being resurrected and giving the others their new mission from the Morphin’ Masters.
* ItsPersonalWithTheDragon: [[spoiler:Because he's one of their own. In the Ranger tradition of [[Series/PowerRangersInSpace Astronema]] and [[Series/PowerRangersRPM Tenaya]], the team must find a way to both stop him ''and'' save him.]]
* KickTheDog: [[spoiler:Evil Ollie]] gets a lot of these types of moments, though the standout is in episode three. [[spoiler:He gives his mother a HopeSpot that she's freed him from the mind control, then drops the act, tells her that she's sealed his friends' fates, and [[FauxAffablyEvil sweetly says that he loves her]], leaving her alone in a city on fire.]]
* LaResistance: [[spoiler:Tarrick and the other Rafkonians]] form an Earth-based resistance movement against Zedd's forces while the Rangers are away.
* LateArrivalSpoiler: In the first episode, Amelia outright tells Mick that she's Rafkonian, which was a late-series spoiler from ''Dino Fury''.
* LogicalWeakness: Dinohenge is the source of the Dino Fury Rangers' power. So when Zedd destroys the statues, the Dino Fury powers go with them. [[spoiler:Likewise, Ollie's mind control is described as a poisoning of his "Ranger energy". As Dr. Akana figures, if he loses his Blue Ranger powers, he will become his old self again.]]
* LoopholeAbuse: The Cosmic Fury morphers are still connected to dinosaur DNA. [[spoiler: Fern becomes a Power Ranger when ''Solon'' accidentally grabs onto her morpher.]]
* MythologyGag: At the beginning of one episode, the Rangers say they've liberated Japan (where '' Franchise/SuperSentai'' comes from) and New Zealand (where ''Power Rangers'' was filmed for two decades).
* NeverSayDie: Averted towards the beginning, following the theme set in ''Film/MightyMorphinPowerRangersOnceAndAlways.'' Bajillia Naire explicitly states that forty scientists ''died'' excavating Zedd in the first episode, and Zedd himself wants the Rangers [[BuriedAlive buried and dead]] when attacking Dinohenge. In later episodes, the show goes back to its usual euphemisms: "destroy", "annihilate", "obliterate", etc.
* OddNameOut: Zayto, rather than being identified by color like the others, is now called the Zenith Ranger.
* PetTheDog:
** Zedd is particularly calm with [[spoiler:Ollie]], offering him advice and mentoring him in an evil way. He rarely raises his voice with him, and even keeps a neutral yet touché-like attitude when [[spoiler:Ollie uses his own teachings against him to save the universe]].
** Downplayed in the first episode for Zedd. He compliments Doodrip for his work in [[spoiler:turning Ollie evil]], but still fires him, and later lets him do as he pleases when going off to destroy the Rangers, [[PragmaticVillainy knowing he can still stay at the top of his game no matter what will happen]].
* PromotedToOpeningTitles: Fern goes from a recurring character to being shown in the opening.
* PutOnABus: Santaura doesn't make an appearance due to her being heavily pregnant. [[spoiler:We see a photo of her in the finale, holding her newborn daughter Poppy.]]
* RankUp: Amelia is promoted to leader of the team and becomes the Red Ranger, with Zayto becoming the Zenith Ranger instead.
* RummageSaleReject: In "Rock Out", the Rangers raid the base's store of outfits to create disguises for them to infliltrate Squid Ink Inc.'s dig site. The disguises include elements of costumes from previous PR series, such as [[Series/PowerRangersDinoCharge Fury's]] robes and part of the Frankenstein's Monster costume Steel wore in the ''[[Series/PowerRangersBeastMorphers Beast Morphers]]'' HalloweenEpisode.
* ShooOutTheClowns: Aside from Jane and J-Borg having cake at Aiyon's café, most of their appearances have them announcing what's going on with Zedd's invasion before they get sent to prison.
* ShoutOut:
** Fitting for a SpaceOpera season, we have a major nod to ''Franchise/StarWars''. Amelia finds herself in a similar situation to Rey in [[Film/TheForceAwakens the]] [[Film/TheLastJedi sequel]] [[Film/TheRiseOfSkywalker trilogy]], wherein [[spoiler:her love interest has been corrupted into being TheDragon for an evil emperor, and she must find a way to both defeat and save him. Luckily, Amelia and Ollie's story comes to a happier ending than Rey and Kylo Ren's.]]
** Speaking of space operas, much of the action takes place on Erridus, a desert planet populated by dangerous worm monsters. [[Literature/{{Dune}} Sound familiar?]]
** Omwhyzo, a crow-themed monster, vaguely resembles Creator/TommyWiseau and shares his [[WhatTheHellIsThatAccent famously indecipherable accent]].
** In "Switching Sides", [[spoiler:Mucus]] mentions thinking about fish with human feet. This is a nod to ''WesternAnimation/HotelTransylvania3SummerVacation'', where the cruise ship's staff are comprised of [[FishPeople upright fish]] with human feet.
* SingleBiomePlanet: Erridus is one giant desert, Akraal is a [[BBCQuarry massive mining quarry]], and Eltar is a CityPlanet, though we don't see much of it beyond Zedd's fortress. Downplayed with Levvina because there is ''a'' city, but the rest of the world is covered by a [[GeniusLoci sentient forest]].
* SirNotAppearingInThisTrailer: Ollie is conspicuous for his absence in promotional materials, especially in footage of action scenes. [[spoiler:This is to conceal the FirstEpisodeTwist where he's turned evil.]]
* SomethingOnlyTheyWouldSay: [[spoiler:When Billy notes how Javi's song incorporates Zordon's final words, Aiyon mentions that he heard Zayto say the same thing. Billy connects the dots to believe that Zordon took on Zayto's form and comes under the belief that Zordon's spirit is still alive.]]
* SpikesOfVillainy: [[spoiler:Ollie's upgrade while under Zedd's control.]]
* SuperheroesWearCapes: As seen in the announcement trailer, Zayto's Zenith Ranger outfit comes with a fancy cape.
* SupermanStaysOutOfGotham: PlayedWith: [[spoiler:Billy, Mick and Heckyl all help the Cosmic Fury Rangers, but none of the major collective teams play a role until the end when Billy not only brings in the Mighty Morphin' team, but also the In Space, Lost Galaxy, Ninja Steel and Beast Morphers teams via their Megazords. This is due to the teams being said to be busy dealing with Zedd's forces all across the globe and having had to recover from both being crippled by having their zords disabled and then getting captured and freed by resistance members.]]
* TakeThat: Bajillia's ultimate goal of [[spoiler:using the Master Captivator to combine the energies of the Morphin' Masters with the corrupted evil of Lord Zedd, to create a reverse Z-Wave that would wipe all good from the universe, allowing her to make money in the eternal warfare this would cause]] is an obvious jab at real life [[CorruptCorporateExecutive executives of this type]], who've drawn increasing ire from people in the last few years.
* TalkingTheMonsterToDeath: How the Cosmic Fury Rangers [[spoiler: and Morphin Master Zayto manage to convince the empowered Master Zedd to give up his powers after he gets trapped in a container that's about to explode. While Zedd is initially unwilling to even conceive of giving up his power, Zayto and Ollie correctly points out that if he doesn't do so, then once the container erupts, it will release a reverse Z-Wave that wipes out everyone good...and ''including Zedd''. Nobody will win, and the entire universe will be plunged into chaos. Ollie even goes so far as to invoke the lesson that Zedd taught him while brainwashed, about how there is "no peace for the strongest, only survival", and that him having all the power in the world means nothing if he's dead. Zedd only finally relents near the end when the container is nearly broken.]]
* TemptingFate: The end of Episode 2 has Izzy stating that the situation that they're all stuck in is going to be fine and then she hears [[spoiler:Fern...]]
* ThousandYardStare: In contrast to the other Dino Fury Rangers, Fern, and Billy in the opening, Ollie doesn't smile. Rather, he stares back at the viewers with an empty gaze. This is due to him [[spoiler:being brainwashed by Zedd. Ollie won't smile in the credits until the tenth and final episode.]]
* TwoGirlsToATeam: Initially, as with ''Dino Fury''; this changes once [[spoiler: Fern joins]] the team. In fact, because the team never has [[spoiler: all seven Cosmic Fury Rangers together simultaneously]], much of the series has [[spoiler: a 1:1 ratio between female and male Cosmic Fury Rangers]].
* WhamEpisode: The premiere, 'Lightning Strikes'. [[spoiler:Ollie is BrainwashedAndCrazy once more, Zayto is missing in action, and Javi ''loses an arm''.]]
* WhamLine: [[spoiler:Aiyon talking to Zayto, and Zayto says a very, ''very'' familiar line. ''May the power protect you''.]]
* WhamShot: Javi activating an altar with the staff of the Red Morphin' Master. But then he looks down [[spoiler:at the edge of his jacket to find he lost his arm.]]
* TheWorfEffect: While the current team is in space, Zedd launches a massive invasion of Earth. According to the news reports we see from Jane and J-Borg, every single other Ranger on the planet has been captured and jailed. [[spoiler:Once the Cosmic Rangers return and disable the anti-Zord force field, the GreatOffscreenWar takes a turn for the better.]]
* YouAreAlreadyDead: [[spoiler:Tarrick]] does this to Omwhyzo, with no powers.
