Works that have referenced ''Manga/TheRoseOfVersailles''.
----
[[AC:Anime and Manga]]
* ''Manga/{{Berserk}}'' itself takes heavy inspiration from ''The Rose of Versailles'' despite being [[DarkFantasy a very different kind of series]] from the latter (creator Creator/KentaroMiura was an admitted fan of ''Berubara''), with Griffith being a CorruptedCharacterCopy of Oscar for one.
* An episode of the manga comedy ''Manga/DashKappei'' has Kappei dressed as Oscar.
* In ''Anime/{{Hamtaro}}'', there are a pair of veterinarians that look like Oscar and Andre.
* ''Manga/KagekiShoujo'' being based on the Creator/TakarazukaRevue, has main character Sarasa Watanabe who wants to play Lady Oscar in the troupe.
* One episode of ''Manga/KaguyaSamaLoveIsWar'' has [[https://i.imgur.com/M74j971.jpg everyone drawn as members of the cast]] during one of Iino's {{Imagine Spot}}s. [[spoiler:And in a bit of subtle foreshadowing, her eventual LoveInterest Ishigami has swapped places with Andre.]]
* ''Franchise/LupinIII'':
** The entire Red Jacket episode "[[Recap/LupinIIIS2E101 Versailles Burned with Love]]" is an homage of ''The Rose of Versailles'', to the point it could almost be called a {{Crossover}}; only the modern setting technically keeps it from being such, but even that gets explained. The fact that Creator/TMSEntertainment did the animation for both ''Shin Lupin III'' and ''Rose'' only makes the line tougher to determine.
** ''Anime/LupinIIITheWomanCalledFujikoMine'' introduces a subordinate to Inspector Zenigata, an effeminate young man named Oscar. The name is a shout-out to this series' main character.
* Minor character Tsubasa Yuuki from ''Anime/{{Penguindrum}}'' is a {{Bifauxnen}} whose character design [[NonStandardCharacterDesign stands out from everyone else's]] by looking as though she stepped out of a shoujo manga from the 70s. She's also an actress in a Creator/TakarazukaRevue-like troupe, referencing how ''The Rose of Versailles'' is one of the Takarazuka's most popular productions.
* Kuranosuke in ''Manga/PrincessJellyfish'' manages to trick Chieko and Jiji into thinking he's a girl raised as a boy (even he can't believe it worked) when he refers to ''Rose of Versailles'' and starts dressing as Oscar.
* Azusa Shiratori from ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'' has a habit of stealing objects she thinks are cute and naming them after characters from ''The Rose of Versailles'', such as "Rosalie", "Fersen" and "Marie Antoinette". This is more obvious in the anime, where she's shown stealing and naming more objects than she does in the manga; one episode has her kidnap Genma while he's in his panda form and rename him Oscar, while dressing him up in full Oscar cosplay.
* The looks of ''Manga/SaintSeiya'' character Lizard Misty are explicitly based on Oscar's.
* Yoshino in ''Manga/SilverSpoon'' uses ''The Rose of Versailles'' to study French.
* An episode of the ''Anime/TimeBokan'' series ''Itadakiman'', has an {{Expy}} of Oscar who is a StrawFeminist that hate all the men and turn in a monster toward the end. Her entire kingdom is similar to France and the Japanese name is a malapropism of Versailles.
* In ''Manga/TomoChanIsAGirl'', it's revealed that Tomo's mother Akemi played the part of Andre for a SchoolPlay of ''The Rose of Versailles''.
* In the first chapter of ''Manga/TwitteringBirdsNeverFly'', Yashiro sings a lyric from the anime's ending theme ("you are the light, I am the shadow,") to himself when thinking about Kuga, the man that his FirstLove, Kageyama, has chosen.
* The students in ''Manga/WanderingSon'' put on a play of ''The Rose of Versailles'', which also makes numerous references to the Takarazuka Revue's stage production of the story.

[[AC:Live-Action Television]]
* ''Series/HakenNoOscar'' is about a woman who's a huge fan of ''The Rose of Versailles'', and when the vice-president of the company she works at introduces ridiculous cost-cutting measures, she's inspired to fight back against him thanks to thinking of Oscar.

[[AC:Video Games]]
* In ''VideoGame/ShinMegamiTenseiIV'' one of the characters talks about a manga set in the fictional kingdom of ''France'' with a female protagonist who is a warrior dressed as a man and falls in love with her faithful companion. Later Oscar is even referenced by name.

[[AC:Webcomics]]
* Sister Oscar from ''Webcomic/SisterClaire'' is very obviously inspired by Oscar herself, right down to the name and blonde hair.
