!Tropes for the episode:
* TheBet: There's an office pool on how long Lindsay will be in labor.
* BusmansHoliday: It's Mac's day off, but he reinvestigates a case that's bothering him anyway.
* TheDiaperChange: Joked about when Mac is asked to be Lucy's godfather.
-->'''Flack:''' Godfather, you know that's code for "diaper changer."
* EvenEvilHasStandards: A hitman turns himself in and rats out the person who hired him when that person changes targets from a man to a woman, saying that he's convinced she'll "get the job done" with or without him.
* FalseConfession: Turns out Mac is right; the man had confessed to something his daughter had done.
* HitmanWithAHeart: The hitman goes to the police so they can stop his client from hiring someone else to kill a woman since he's too softhearted to kill women or children himself.
* MamaBear: The BigBad of the B-plot is the vengeful mother of a teen killed in a hit-and-run. She wants the person who did the deed dead and she initially hires a hitman to do so, but when Mac's inquiries reveal to her that the one who actually was driving was the alleged killer's daughter, she orders the hitman to kill her and when the hitman reneges because he has a "no women, no kids" code, tries to do it herself (with Mac stopping her [[JustInTime just as she is walking towards the daughter with a gun ready to draw inside of her purse]]).
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Mac goes to the mother of the victim of the hit-and-run for further inquiries about the case and tells her that he suspects that the actual driver was the suspect's daughter when the mother asks why Mac is doing this. Which leads to said mother, [[MamaBear who was already itching to get vigilante justice for her son]], to switch targets.
* PapaWolf: The B-Plot revolves around a cold case of a hit-and-run driver who JustGotOutOfJail and Mac is hounding because the evidence does not matches. The man's daughter is to blame for the hit-and-run and he took the blame to prevent his daughter from having her life ruined as a convict, and he maintains the lie for as long as he can in the face of Mac's questioning.
* ScreamingBirth: Classic example with Lindsay screaming and red-faced. Flack, while on the phone with Danny, even asks if that's her he hears in the background.
* SelectiveSlaughter: The hit man tells the detectives he refuses to kill women and children.
* TakingTheHeat: Out of fear that his daughter's career and life would be ruined, the parolee had claimed to be driving instead of her when she accidentally struck and killed a teenage girl on a bicycle. The daughter had just finished med school and had had a few drinks to celebrate. He was afraid all her work would've been in vain and expected to be let off easy since it was an accident. Unfortunately, he'd been texting at the moment of impact and his phone was found in the floorboard of the car. The judge had given him a longer sentence to make an example of him.
