4	A ''ground wave'' is a condition in which the solid ground ripples and moves in waves, the way water in a pool will ripple when a rock is tossed in. In real life, this can only happen as a result of a nuke bomb detonation or a huge explosion (see the PEPCON disaster under Real Life, below). In fiction, some character with either superpowers or incredible strength strikes the ground -- or the opponent it is fighting throws them at the ground -- so hard that the ground rolls, ripples and moves in response. 87	* The [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PEPCON_disaster PEPCON perchlorate processing plant]] in Henderson, Nevada (just outside Las Vegas) generated one of these after a chain of DisasterDominoes when several drums of [[HairTriggerExplosive Ammonium Perchlorate]], also known as the oxidizer component of rocket fuel, were inadvertently exposed to an ignition source (with the exact cause still a matter of debate). This triggered a cascading destruction sequence over the course of several minutes that led from these drums to the precursor chemical storage bins to the plant's [[OhCrap shipping storage bay which held approximately 4500 metric tons of Ammonium Perchlorate and sat over an incorrectly marked natural gas transmission line]]. The largest of the 5 major explosions was so strong it reached a Richter scale reading of about 3.5. Video from a camera several miles away showed the ground rippling outward from the blast site.
