Finally realizing the truth, he stops fighting against the zombies and allows them to spray him with the real cure, breaking the zombie illusion. |

In fact it makes things [[FromBadToWorse far far worse]] as now all the Mantis people mutate into [[HumanoidAbomination hideous deformed fleshy blobs]] with [[MultiArmedAndDangerous various limbs protruding all over]], extra [[EyesDoNotBelongThere eyes]] and [[TooManyMouths mouths]], with these creatures dubbed "[[Creator/DavidCronenberg Cronenbergs]]". Morty's family are the only ones unaffected by ThePlague due to being closely related to Morty's DNA and end up [[ActionSurvivor fighting through hordes to survive]]. In the end rather than fix the apocalypse, Rick's solution is to find a CloseEnoughTimeline where the apocalypse was fixed but the Rick and Morty also perish, so that Rick and Morty can pull a KillAndReplace, while [[ExpendableAlternateUniverse abandoning their old dimension]]. While Rick and Morty do return to their lives, the psychological ramifications are deeply traumatizing for Morty as he now knows, NothingIsTheSameAnymore. |

Just when the mutants look as though they wish to make peace after seeing this act of love, the rest of the Simpsons family pull out shotguns and blast the mutants dead. |
