Go To

* After Kyle gets his Ion powers and finally gets the hang of them he meets the original, Hal Jordan, who has become the Spectre after his death. At the moment Kyle outpowers even him and is basically a god. He tells Hal that he could go back in time and stop the nuking of Coast City, Hal's nightmare and what drove him to the breaking point. Hal, with the Spectre's infinite wisdom, plays the "when does it end" card and asks Kyle when he'll stop, would he become a true god and stop all the pain that's ever happened throughout time. Hal questions what will stop him and basically says that eventually he'll do the same for everyone. Kyle clearly says without hesitation that he won't and it's just for Hal that he'd do it.
* More Kyle and Hal: During the ''ComicBook/SinestroCorpsWar'', Hal and the other Lanterns try to figure out how to free Kyle from Parallax. Hal mentions that when he broke free, he had the Spectre, one of the most powerful forces in the universe, with him. Turns out all Kyle needed was Hal to tell him YouAreNotAlone.
* From ''Green Lantern Rebirth'':
** Sinestro insults Kyle Rayner repeatedly by calling him alley rat and such. Hal Jordan is coldly furious and shuts him straight down. "No. You will respect him", underlining that Kyle carried the torch when no one else could. Later, when Kyle himself tells Hal that he's not like him, and he feels fear, Hal just points out that it's not like he's spent all this time hiding under his drawing board... he can OVERCOME fear, and that's what was needed.
** Green Arrow tries uselessly to activate Hal's ring. Sinestro [[InsultBackfire taunts him, saying that Arrow's will is too cynical, and that there's no one left who believes in Hal Jordan.]] Green Arrow had, this entire time, believed he was the one to kill Hal, but remembering their friendship gives him will enough to finally ignite the ring.
* For Hal Jordan Green Lantern himself, the CMOH happened at the climax of ''Tales of the Green Lantern Corps'' #3 when Jordan went to the netherworld of Nekron and just distracted him enough for the Guardians to drive back Krona and his undead horde and reseal the dimensional portal. Just as Jordan's ring about to fail, the spirit of his predecessor, Abin Sur, pushes him back to his universe while saying how proud he is of him. Back there, he is among his fellow Lanterns, with their rings about to be exhausted, and bracing to die together in the hard vacuum of space. However, at that moment, the Guardians respond "No, there has been too much death." as they project a containment field around their Green Lanterns and take them safely back to their headquarters on Oa for a victory celebration and ring recharging.
** Add one more moment of heartwarming from that mini-series: As the Lanterns goes to the main power battery on Oa to recharge; ''ALL of them recite Hal's oath in tribute to the Earth Green Lantern.'' When it was over Hal was unashamedly crying. (As one who remembers reading that mini-series he wasn't the only one who got choked up.)
* Coast City gets one during the ''ComicBook/SinestroCorpsWar'' by its citizens refusing to leave their newly built home and instead shine green lights in their windows to support the Green Lanterns, even Hal's overly cautious brother, Jim, refuses to flee with his family. It mixes with crowning moment of awesome too.
** The bit in GL #25 with the newscaster announcing not a single person had evacuated the city.
** "Kick his butt Uncle Hal!"
* In ''Green Lantern #9'', one of the last issues of the newly relaunched ''Green Lantern'' book before ''ComicBook/InfiniteCrisis'' and the ''One Year Later'' Jump, had Hal, still newly getting used to being alive and a GL again, team up with Batman, who had been established in ''Rebirth'' as being very pessimistic about Hal's return. Towards the end of the issue, Hal offers Batman his ring, to show he's willing to rebuild their former camaraderie, which pretty much died when Hal became Parallax. After using the ring to build constructs of his parents, Bruce is told by Hal that he can let go of his anger and grief (much like what Hal did during his ''Secret Origin'' story). Bruce refuses, but he shows his gratitude by returning to a FirstNameBasis with Hal.
** This also is reflected in ''ComicBook/InfiniteCrisis'' itself, as Bruce invites Hal to join him and other heroes to bring down Brother Eye. When the Eye tries to [[TakingYouWithMe take Bruce down with it]] Hal goes back and rescues Bruce from the satellite before it crashes, choosing his old friend who once lost himself to evil over his creation that he made when he lost faith in his peers.
-->'''Brother Eye''': (While holding Bruce in robotic cables to prevent him from escaping the decaying satellite) WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME, CREATOR? YOU CAN TRUST ME TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT. YOU CANNOT TRUST THEM. YOU CAN NEVER TRUST THEM AGAIN AFTER ALL THEY HAVE DONE. (Hal bursts into the room)
-->'''Batman''': I'll take my chances. (Bruce [[TakeMyHand grabs Hal's hand]] and they escape the satellite before it enters the atmosphere)
** The incident is implied to have more serious ramifications than that. If not for his friendship with Jordan, Batman would have been recruited into the Sinestro Corps.
* In Larfleeze's Christmas special, he spends the entire issue raging against Santa for not bringing him any presents. He starts trying to melt the North Pole, and Hal Jordan takes him aside and tells him to look over his mile long Christmas list and ask himself if he really needs any of it. Later, Larfleeze is in his cottage, and we him staring mournfully at the words "My Family" on his list.
** HopeSpot: It turns out his family is alive, and they miss him. And guess what told him this? The Blue Entity of Hope, of course!
** In the epilogue of "Wrath of the First Lantern," it is said that he ''did'' find his family, and gave up ''all'' his possessions just to get them back! [[spoiler: Even if the orange light of avarice drove him to start stealing things again, he still got a rather happy ending.]]
** The long awaited reunion finally happens during the end of his series wherein he discovers that [[spoiler:G'nort is his fourteenth cousin twice removed]]. Larfleeze is so overjoyed at this revelation that it drives him to tears and despite spending the better part of an issue beating each other up, the two former combatants walk into the distance and talk about the misadventures they're going to have. If that wasn't heartwarming enough, Larfleeze goes so far as to gently hold and chummily throw his arm around [[spoiler:G'nort]] which is rather significant as Larfleeze HatesBeingTouched and his physical gestures are usually aggressive.
* Glomulus telling Larfleeze to spare Kyle, as Kyle is his friend. Aww.
* Iroque/Indigo-1, [[spoiler:formerly TheSociopath, who had HeelFaceBrainwashing forced on her via the Indigo ring, ''voluntarily'' wants to rebuild the Indigo Tribe, who were ''all'' TheSociopath without their rings, because she found that she liked GoodFeelsGood more than just being heartless, and restarts the Power Battery with a spark of compassion.]]
** It comes back in the Epilogue of ''Wrath of the First Lantern'', when we find out Iroque [[spoiler:completed her HeelFaceTurn and was able to part with her ring since it had completed its job. Her words are, "Thank you, Abin." and the Book of Oa refers to her as '''Iroque, the Redeemed''']].
* Just about anything involving Guy Gardner and Ice. Special mention goes to his first meeting with her post-revival.
* At the climax of the "Wrath of the First Lantern" arc, Hal and Sinestro go head-to-head when the latter absorbs the power of Parallax and sets off to kill the Guardians. When Hal catches up to him, Sinestro demands to know if Hal really thinks that they can be redeemed after all the mistakes they've made. Hal's response, over the next few panels:
-->'''Hal''': I don't ''care'' about saving the Guardians, Sinestro. [[WhamLine I care about saving]] ''[[WhamLine you]]'' .[[YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre You can still come back from this. You can still overcome your fear, your rage, and your pain! I know what kind of Green Lantern you could truly be.]] ''That's why I refuse to give up on you!''
* Sinestro, knowing what loss truly is after [[spoiler: [[PetTheDog Korugar is destroyed, plans for Ganthet and Sayd to have a life together.]]]]
** As well as the implication that [[spoiler: he later rejoined the Green Lanterns, and became keeper of the Book of Oa.]]
* Before ''either'' of those two things, Sinestro, fresh off the act of [[spoiler: slaughtering the Guardians for their repeated abuses of power and disastrous mistakes]], vows to [[spoiler: give up the power of Parallax and depart the known universe]]. But before he goes, he asks Hal what he was planning to ask him back on Ysmault when they were both facing death. The following exchange is both heartwarming and [[TearJerker tear-jerking]]:
-->'''Hal''': Were we ''ever'' truly friends?
-->'''Sinestro''': That's the ''tragedy'' of all this, Jordan. Hal. [[spoiler: We'll always be friends.]]
* The Red Lantern Corps, despite being blood-spewing, murderous bundles of nigh-unstoppable anger, are mostly like that because their lives have been, in one way or another, absolutely ruined through the actions of others. The rings found their way to the members to give them the power to take revenge on the people who caused their suffering.
* Saint Walker. [[http://scans-daily.dreamwidth.org/2178197.html The guy lives up to his title]].
* The BadassCreed of the Blue Lantern Corps:
-->''In fearful day, in raging night\
With strong hearts full our souls ignite\
When all seems lost in the War of Light\
Look to the stars - for hope burns bright''
* In ''ComicBook/GreenLanterns'' #3, [[spoiler:Bleez tries to infect Simon with Rage. Instead, he actually realizes that holy crap, is this sensation what ''she'' has been saddled with? [[AssimilationBackfire That's AWFUL!]] And goes BeyondTheImpossible to heal her of her Rage, fix the damage the Red Ring has done to her and ''[[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotSymbolic even gives her back her wings]]''...all because he felt ''empathy'' for her]]. When [[spoiler:her]] resulting HeelRealization makes [[spoiler:her]] instantly [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone try to]] [[RedemptionEqualsDeath commit suicide]], Simon - a former criminal himself, albeit on a much smaller and less harmful level - talks [[spoiler:her]] out of it. So heartwarming that a number of people have said that scene alone made them ship them together, that's how sweet it was to see Simon treat [[spoiler:her]] that way, wanting to help [[spoiler:her]], instead of as just another enemy like you might expect.
* In ''ComicBook/GreenLanterns'' #14, Simon and Jessica manage to bring Phantom Lantern down, but are left with his uncontrollable ring, which ''anyone'' can use and carries the power of the entire Emotional Spectrum. Faced with the risk the Ring represents, Jessica puts it on, knowing that for anyone who doesn't know how to use it, it will take them on a ride through the seven Lantern colors until it finds the one that applies the most to the wielder. As expected, her uniform begins to shift and change into the different Corps' suits, with Jessica terrified she will turn into a Sinestro Corpsman... until it settles on '''''[[CowardlyLion WILL]]''''', telling her in definite terms that no, she did not receive the green ring by mistake. The revelation leads her to joyfully soar through the air for a minute. Even a seething Simon, who was contemplating using the Phantom Ring for his own purposes, chooses to ignore the temptation of power once he sees Jessica's glee at her confirmation as a Green Lantern.
* In the last issue of Green Lanterns, the Guardians are moving the corps of Mogo to give it time to heal, and go back to the rebuilt Oa. Before leaving, Jessica builds a statue of Penelops, a green lantern who died defending their homeworld. Jessica insisted that the lanterns postponed their pursuit of the Ravagers to evacuate the remaining inhabitants, since the planet had become inhabitable.
* At the end of the "Agent Orange" arc, Hal Jordan counters Larfleeze's orange constructs by creating constructs of his friends and allies, including fallen Green Lanterns Ke'Hann, Ch'p, Laira and Jade.
* In his [[SuperheroOrigin origin story]], Hal Jordan's first response to finding dying Abin Sur is to ask "How can I help?" It's too late to help Abin Sur, but it shows that Hal has the right attitude to be a hero.
* Kyle's pep talk to Terry Berg in volume three, issue 137 where he assures the young boy that he shouldn't be ashamed of being gay and that he's happy to have him as a friend.
