''[[http://fanfiction.net/s/13961814/1/Let-Nothing-Fall-to-Chance Let Nothing Fall to Chance]]'' is a crossover between ''VideoGame/FalloutNewVegas'' and ''{{VideoGame/Arknights}}'' written by [[@/TheShattered0513 Chronicler of Unseen Stars]] on FF.net and [[http://archiveofourown.org/works/40872564/chapters/102423438 Archive Of Our Own]].

The year is 2288. Over two centuries have passed since the Great War ravaged the Earth. Seven since Courier Number Six was dug out of his early gave and six since he forever changed the Mojave Wasteland. Having usurped House from his throne and kicked Ceaser's Legion and NRC out of the wasteland, Six would go on to establish. the Free Economic Zone of New Vegas. To his dismay, the burden of leading a fledging nation has fallen to him. Between politics and overseeing the Big MT Research Facility, he feels like a prisoner of the Mojave and longs for another adventure. He gets his wish when someone steals the fallen satellite from the drive-in theater and ventures off with a small party to retrieve it.

Unfortunately, it is destroyed in a firefight between him and the thieves, and he and ED-E get flung onto another world. One with as much strife as the Back-when Times and its share of conspiracies looking to capitalize on it. Six has two objectives now; find a way back home, and prevent any of its technology from falling into the locals' hands. Least history repeats itself and Terra suffers as the Old World did.
!!This fanfic provides examples of:
* AbandonedMine: At least two are shown in the early chapters of the fanfic, one for each world. And both of them are occupied by marauders of their respective realms.
* TheAce: Six already maxed out all his Skills before the start of the fanfic. That being said, his actual mastery in certain areas is implied to have atrophied due to spending so much time trying to keep New Vegas from tearing itself apart.
* ActionGirl: Examples from both worlds make an appearance here. From the Operators of Rhodes Island to raiders like Milly.
* AliensSpeakingEnglish: And Spanish. And Italian. And Russian. Ooh, and Latin! The official crossover event with ''Rainbow Six: Siege'' establishes Earth's dialects do exist on Terra, so Six has no issue with conversing with the locals in English or Latin.
* AmnesiacHero: The Double Tap Six suffers at the beginning of ''New Vegas'' has wiped his memories. To insult to injury, his face was apparently mangled before said gunshots. Whatever identity and life he had up until that point is effectively gone. That being said, some dreams or flashbacks do imply that shreds of his old memories survived, albeit distorted.
* AdaptationalBadass: Crownslayer is presented as a far more capable fighter than in the Reunion Arc, enough that she initially pinned down Six after meeting him in the ruins of Chernobog. Seeing as that the fanfic is set after the Chernobog Incident, it's safe to assume that she's been honing her skills since.
* AdaptationalVillainy: While Ingra was already a sadist in the Kazimierz side stories, his crimes have been confined to the ring. Here, he joined a slaver's guild following his expulsion in ''Near Light'', causing enough trouble to warrant a bounty on his head.
* BadassLongcoat: Six prefers this type of attire, with the [[GasMaskLongcoat Elite Riot Gear]] serving as his default outfit. [[spoiler:The Crimson Troupe seems to have noticed this, given the outfits they make him wear during his 'stay' at Bioven Manor]].
* BadassNormal: Despite the biological differences between the average Wastelander and Terran, the former are hardy enough to give the latter a decent fight. Both Six and the Iron Devils fought against Sarkaz and came out on top in their respective battles. That being said, Six isn't exactly 'normal' compared to most Wastelanders.
* BerserkButton: He does not like being called a cowboy. Chapter Nine reveals that he doesn't regard them as intelligent individuals, so it's inferred that he considers the word an insult to his own intellect.
* BottomlessMagazines: Inverted. Since Terra lacks the elements to brew Earth's gunpowder, Six's ballistic ammunition is finite. While ED-E can pop some ammo for Energy Weapons, he can only produce so much per day.
* BulletTime: Six doesn't shy from using VATS and '''Implant GRX''' to get a bead on his enemies or out of a sticky situation. Of course, he can only use the latter in limited supply each day.
* BornUnLucky: Six's Luck is a 3. Not as terrible as [[Fanfic/DustInTheWind another Courier's]], but still...
* TheCasanova: Six makes use of the '''Lady Killer''' Perk during his time on Terra. Fiammetta is reduced to a stuttering mess after he suggests 'Bombshell' as her next codename in the early chapters. Crownslayer has been hit on at least twice during his travels with her.
* CoveredInScars: Six is revealed to be this in Chapter 4.
* ColorCodedEyes: Six's eyes are green.
* CoolBike: Croissant and Leonhardt make their debut into the story riding on these.
* CuteMachines: ED-E appears to have inherited his Divide counterpart's personality in this story.
* DeadGuyOnDisplay: The Iron Devils decorate the exterior of their temporary hideout with the bodies of their victims.
* DeadPersonConversation: Six has one with Mortimer atop the ruin of [[spoiler: Peterheim Middle School]].
* DeathByAdaptation: Ingra ends up on the receiving end of Six's Ripper.
* TheDreaded: Word of his actions in the Mojave has spread to other states back on Earth, as one of the Iron Devils panics at the mere mention of him (Something that Magallan exploits).
* DreadfulMusician: While Six can handle a harmonica and guitar just fine, his low Charisma leaves him with a lousy singing voice.
* DressingastheEnemy: Six kills and disguises himself as a mafia gangster for a time in Chapter 6, but his cover is blown after a Hound sniffs him out.
* DrumBathing: The people of Grinkhorn use drums as their bathtubs.
* ElaborateUndergroundBase: Pluto Mine at the beginning of the story is revealed to be this, consisting of multiple levels dedicated to mining and studying the Originium in it.
* ExperiencedProtagonist: This fanfic takes place years after the end of New Vegas, with Six already maxing out his Skills according to Closure. That being said, it's implied that the years he spent trying to govern New Vegas have caused some of them to stagnate.
* FantasticRacism:
** Six does not seem to hold a high opinion of Laterano. Part of it may stem from Terra's firearms requiring Arts training (something he currently lacks). Part of it may also stem from his strained relationship with the Brotherhood of Steel. The Iron Devils would call Terrans 'mutants' after getting warped from Earth (though this is out of ignorance of their dimensional displacement).
** Terra's Infected and Earth's post-human populations suffer from prejudice as in canon. Franka and Six would draw their own parallels between the worlds' issues at different points in the story.
* FieryRedhead: Though this is to be expected from Fiammetta, Crownslayer is also portrayed as such here.
* FireBreathingWeapon: Six encounters a couple of Hateful Avegners on Terra (well, ex-Avenger in a later case). Milly makes use of a flamethrower during her assault on Müllstad.
* FishOutofWater: Six is a retro-futuristic post-apocalyptic survivor thrown into a world of smartphones, cities on wheels, magic, magical storms, people with animal traits, and magic-rock cancer.
* FromDresstoDressing: Six tears off a piece of the cape provided to him by the [[spoiler:Crimson Troupe]] to patch up a cut on Crownslayer.
* GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere: A [[spoiler:Deathclaw]] is teleported into Kazdel sometime after Six's arrival.
* GeniusBruiser: With a high Endurance and Intelligence, Six would certainly count as one. He rarely uses that muscle in a melee, however, preferring to stuff his enemies with lead, lasers, and plasma.
* GratuitousForeignLanguage: The author has thrown in shades of this for various characters, especially for [[ForeignCussWord cursing]].
** GratuitousFrench: The Crimson Troupe.
** GratuitousGerman: Gieszler.
** GratuitousItalian: Chiave swears at the sight of a [[spoiler:Feral Ghoul]]. Crownslayer in turn has spent enough time in Siracusa to pick up the tongue herself, though she seems to prefer Ursine.
** GratuitousLatin: Six is familiar enough with Latin to understand Legionaries, and replied to Larsson in kind to troll him.
** GratuitousRussian: Having been born in Ursus, Crownslayer occasionally speaks her mother tongue.
* TheGunslinger: Six, naturally.
* GuysSmashGirlsShoot: Inverted when Six teamed up with Croissant and Crownslayer. Every other woman Six allies with relies on ranged weaponry as much as he does.
* GoodIsNotSoft: Six may appear to have Good Karma, but that doesn't make him any less merciless in battle. Even less so towards slavers.
* HeroesWantRedheads: Considering that Six has (at the time of this typing) only used his '''Lady Killer''' Perk on Fiammetta and Crownslayer, it can be inferred that he prefers redheads. Then again, he does consider Shining a looker as well.
* HollywoodAtheist: Based on his dialogue, Six is implied to be one.
* HumanAliens: Depends on who you ask. Both Earth and Terra are inhabited by races that consider themselves human but deviate from each other in a variety of ways. It's not a surprise that one world (or at least individuals in the know) would regard natives of the other as aliens. Seeing as Six and other wasteladers have cropped up on Terra, Homo sapiens would be considered the aliens in this fanfic.
* ISeeDeadPeople: Six has some run-ins with ghosts from his past, including but not limited to; [[spoiler:Benny, Jonna, and Mortimer]]. Six personally writes these off as hallucinations rather than paranormal activity, but nothing thus far confirms or invalidates this.
* ImmuneToDrugs: Or at least resistant to addiction, considering that he has the '''Daytripper '''Perk.
* JackBauerInterrogationTechnique: Six employs this on Ingra after he trapped himself under an old APC. While Six does melt his hand with the Plasma Defender, it was in response to Ingra's use of 'indentured servitude' rather than as part of the interrogation. The real application of the troupe is when Six threatens to inject him with a sample of Crownslayer's blood. The threat of contracting Oripathy- the same affliction that plagued so many of his victims- is what convinces Ingra to cave in.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: Apart from the night of the ambush, Six can't remember his past. That being said, information about the Wasteland survived the double tap.
* LeeroyJenkins: Crownslayer pulls one after overhearing a radio transmission between mercenaries plotting to [[spoiler:raid the Sarcophagus]].
* LikeaDuckTakestoWater: Having been born and raised in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, Six is no stranger to survival or combat.
* LivingLegend: Six has garnered enough of a reputation that other territories beyond Nevada have heard his story.
* MadBomber: Six is confirmed to have the perk in Chapter 13. Whether or not it's compatible with Terran materials remains to be seen.
* MadeofIron: With an Endurance of 10, '''Sub-Dermal Armor''', '''Adamantium Skeleton''', and '''Monocyte Breeder''', Six is practically a tank back on post-apocalyptic Earth. Compared to the Terrans, however, he might be about as good as their average soldiers.
* NameAmnesia: The Courier doesn't remember his real name, let alone if he ever had one.
* OutsideContextProblem:
** For the Wastelanders, Originium. Six thought he was tripping when he first saw Arts in action. Mudrock's geokinesis flummoxes the Iron Devils in turn. Their leader, Jigsaw, was also infected with Oripathy before the start of the story.
** For the Terrans, the Wasteland's weapons, robots, and monsters. Earthling weapons do not use Originium as their primary ammunition or energy source. And though Terra has Arts-based constructs, they do not have robots as advanced or dangerous as models like the Assualtron or Sentry Bot.
* PoweredArmor: Six carried a couple of suits in ED-E's upgraded subspace storage, presumably for emergencies. The Iron Devils, on the other hand, have a suit of Raider Power Armor and a T-60. The former suit was worn by Jigsaw and Milly, on Earth and Terra respectively. [[spoiler:Mudrock later uses that same suit to end a Deathclaw's rampage in Kazdel.]]
* PunyEarthlings: Compared to the races of Terra, the Wastelanders of Earth fall behind in many areas; Strength, Endurance, and Agility. Six struggled with loading a recursive crossbow while Lyudmila showed no issue with wielding his modified chainsaw. Liskarm took a direct hit from an Assaultron's laser beam (in part due to her Charged Defense skill). Franka tore off that same unit's arm Mudrock ripped off another's head.
* RenegadeSplinterFaction: The Iron Devils appear are this to the Rust Devils. Whether or not the latter still exists in the present day remains unseen.
* RetiredBadass: It's implied that Douglas- a Ghoul trader Six meets after the second battle for Hoover Dam- is a [[spoiler:[[VideoGame/{{Fallout76}} Seventy-Sixer]]]].
* RobotBuddy: ED-E serves as this to Six.
* SlaveCollar: The Crimson Troupe employs these to keep their servants and 'guests' in line. Two men from the latter group had their brains fried for trying to unmask each other before the rehearsal for a masquerade ended.
* SlaveryIsaSpecialKindofEvil: Six holds a strong distaste for slavery.
* SlidingScaleOfGameplayAndStoryIntegration: Six has a HUD displayed in his vision via neural implant, his Pip-Boy and ED-E are both equipped with subspace storage, and Crownslayer's ability to bypass Operators is portrayed as a form of limited intangibility.
* SplitPersonality: The personality his brain obtained at Big MT appears to still be present in some capacity.
* SmokeOut: Crownslayer and Jessica both deploy smokescreens of some variation. The former's can cause interference in the Pip-Boy's motion trackers and VATS.
* SoleSurvivor: One of the Iron Devils is heavily implied to be a former Fiend, based on his headgear and reaction to hearing Six's name. It's also implied that he regaled the Iron Devils with stories of the Courier's feats.
* TalkingToThemself: Six briefly engages in this during his initial arrival in Grinkhorn.
* TerrorHero: Six has the '''Terrifying Presence''' Perk, making use of it during the early chapters.
* {{Transhuman}}: While Six retains all of his original organs, Big MT's alterations remain. He also has a high enough Endurance to have purchased every in-game implant.
* TokenHuman: While Six isn't the first ''Homo sapien'' to get flung onto Terra (that honor belongs to Team Rainbow), he does appear to be the first ''Wastelander ''sent to the new world. [[spoiler:He isn't the last one to get plucked from the Wasteland.]]
* TrappedInAnotherWorld: The main premise of the story.
* YouAreNumberSix: The Courier has adopted his designation number as his new identity following the double tap.
* WeakButSkilled: Six might lag behind the Terrans in the physical department, but he backs it up with skill and firepower.
