''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13022400/1/The-Ultimate-Big-Brother The Ultimate Big Brother]]'' is a ''Franchise/{{Danganronpa}}''[=/=]''Manga/OnePiece'' {{Crossover}} created by [[https://www.fanfiction.net/u/9324456/Goku-D-Uzumaki Goku D. Uzumazi]].

After his [[Recap/OnePieceWholeCakeIslandArc defeat at the hands of Luffy]], [[Characters/OnePieceCharlotteKatakuri Charlotte Katakuri]] wakes up to find himself inside Hope's Peak Academy, meeting with [[Characters/DanganronpaMakotoNaegi Makoto Naegi]] and learning about the place. However, while meeting the rest of his new little brother's classmates, the whole gang find themselves stuck in a [[DeadlyGame Killing Game]] by Monokuma. Will the second son of Big Mom find a way to save everyone in the class?

!!''The Ultimate Big Brother'' provides examples of:
* AlternateUniverse: Beyond the obvious, all three casts are present in one killing game, and from the looks of things, [[spoiler: Chiaki is the [[SparedByTheAdaptation actual Chiaki]], meaning she wasn't killed by Junko]].
* BigBrotherInstinct:
** Even though he's not connected by blood to any of the class, Katakuri has this, but holds it in particular to Makoto and Himiko. Messing with Makoto is an easy way to find yourself on his bad side as Mondo finds out, and he is more than willing to play along with Himiko and let her call him her big brother.
** Aoi's hostage to try and get her to commit murder is her little brother Yuta. However, because Katakuri told them it would be better to not give into fear and paranoia, she feels that she's weak for letting it get to her. However, Big Mom's second son counters that as long as she doesn't let it twist her into a [[KnightTemplarBigBrother Knight Templar Big Sister]] and drives her to become someone she's not, she's not weak for worrying about him.
* BerserkButton:
** [[spoiler: Just like in canon, trying to get a look under Katakuri's scarf and get a glimpse at his mouth is a guaranteed way to infuriate him]].
** Katakuri is also not happy if people mock his TrademarkFavoriteFood, and this worsens if the food was gifted to him.
* BrainsEvilBrawnGood: Downplayed. [[spoiler: Junko's greatest strength is her analytical ability and manipulation skill]] while Katakuri's strengths lie in being an experienced, superhuman warrior. However, Katakuri is far from stupid, being skilled at leadership and being incredibly experienced when it comes to [[HopeCrusher people]] like [[spoiler: Junko]].
* BrokenAce: [[spoiler: Katakuri discusses this trope with Akane, who'd been pushing herself to become ever stronger so as to protect her little siblings. Katakuri discusses how it felt being this trope after swearing to become TheAce.]]
--> [[spoiler: The very thought of living up to their standard as the Perfect Child of the Charlotte Family was anything but tormenting. Day and night, I had to live up to that standard. What makes it worse was that I was the one who placed that curse upon myself. It'll make you extremely stressed out, high-strung, volatile...it's self-destructing. If what I described to you of the feeling of everyone relying on you intoxicating, then the downside will be the toxic side. I barely had time to let myself go. Whenever I do, it's either during my ten-minute merienda, snack time, or the late-night hours. But even then, the constant thought of everyone watching your every move expecting nothing but perfection? It's depressing.]]
* BullyingADragon: What Hifumi, Hiro, and Hiyoko do when they try to get a peek under Katakuri's scarf, ignoring the fact that Katakuri is 16 feet tall, rippling with muscles, and is a VoluntaryShapeshifter.
* ChildishVillainMatureHero: Monokuma is incredibly childish, prone to viewing suffering at the expense of others as hilarious but also throwing tantrums should things not go his way, whining and considering those trying to ruin his fun as killjoys. Katakuri, by contrast, is TheStoic, even compared to those in the class like Kyoko, Celeste, or Kirumi, taking the events in stride and keeping a keen, tactical approach to the situation he's found himself in.
* CommonalityConnection: Katakuri and Hina bond over both having the same TrademarkFavoriteFood of donuts.
* CreepyGood: Remember how Devil Fruits are put under [[NightmareFuel/OnePiece Nightmare Fuel]]? This is played for full effect with Katakuri, where his abilities are more like a LovecraftianSuperpower in the (relatively) more grounded ''Franchise/{{Danganronpa}}'' series. His introduction, while meant to be a childish prank, comes off as more of something out of a horror movie, with a BlobMonster taking human form while releasing a wave of predatory instinct. That's not even mentioning his [[TheStoic stoic attitude]], gargantuan size, unbelievable strength, unfriendly disposition, and [[spoiler: massive trident Mole]]. Many of the students are downright terrified of him, with Mukuro, someone who's faced death several times, having her legs tremble like a newborn fawn. Most of the other students have similar responses, though with more people getting to know him, he is becoming less and less scary to them.
* CurbStompBattle: [[spoiler: Akane, seeing how strong Katakuri is, challenges him to single combat. When they do fight in Chapter 21, Akane is obliterated, with her getting exhausted with everything she throws at Katakuri, while the Sweet Commander barely breaks a sweat]].
* CurbStompCushion: [[spoiler: Regardless of the aforementioned battle, Akane doesn't completely get wiped, and she does manage to land a hit that causes a KungFuSonicBoom]].
* DramaPreservingHandicap: The story takes great effort to remind the reader that Katakuri is still suffering the after-effects of his fight with Luffy, having pain from his self-inflicted wound and generally being somewhat weaker than normal. Even still, he can escape, but his worry about the students is primarily what keeps him from simply tearing out the doors and leaving, feeling that doing so may end up leaving them to be butchered.
* DrivenToSuicide: [[spoiler: After realizing the gravity of what she had done, Sayaka is filled with regret and shame for her actions, and decides it would be better for everyone if she were to kill herself, feeling that she threw Katakuri and Makoto under the bus and betrayed her friends' trust]].
* EdibleAmmunition: Just like in canon, Katakuri has enough strength to let him use jelly beans as ammunition. While the class is confused at first (Monokuma outright guffaws at this, [[UnderestimatingBadassery feeling that Katakuri is being an idiot and giving it as a peace offering]]), he makes it clear what he can do when he scraps the military-grade gatling gun Monokuma used to try and kill him and then [[BulletCatch catches it]] as it ricochets back.
* EvilIsPetty: This is pretty much Monokuma's reason for spitting out and mocking donuts Hina gave to Katakuri: he wants to get under Katakuri's skin any way he can just because he can.
* ExcellentJudgeOfCharacter: Thanks to his experience on the Grand Line, Katakuri is able to note that Monokuma is primarily motivated by sadistic bloodlust and the desire to crush hope, and he exploits these traits to play the bear like a fiddle, telling him that if he kills all of the students at the beginning, he'll never be able to sate his bloodlust. He is able to better determine the personalities of Makoto's fellow classmates, being able to catch [[spoiler: Mukuro's struggles with acting like Junko, and even discerns that she's working with the mastermind due to familial ties, realizing that Junko is the BigBad]].
* ExperiencedProtagonist: Katakuri is this, having a lot of experience on the Grand Line both as a fighter and a commander, and he uses it to help take command of the situation, working to help the class endure through Monokuma's attempts to make them kill one another.
* FaceOfAThug: Just as in canon, Katakuri is not exactly a friendly looking person, with his constant glare and GlasgowGrin and his mouth being hidden under his scarf. Combine that with his biker attire, and both Mondo and Fuyuhiko wonder if he was in a gang. Regardless, Katakuri has a good heart, and wants to save as many students as he can, and is more than capable of PetTheDog moments.
* FemaleGaze: Katakuri is subjected to this from Miu, with her considering him an absolute hunk and drooling over him.
* {{Foil}}:
** Katakuri and [[spoiler: Junko]] serve as this to each other.
*** Katakuri is CreepyGood with his GlasgowGrin and unnatural abilities while [[spoiler: Junko, being the Ultimate Fashionista]] embodies BeautyIsBad.
*** They're on opposite sides of BrainsEvilBrawnGood; ChildishVillainMatureHero; and OlderHeroVsYoungerVillain. Katakuri is an immensely powerful warrior reaching the age of 50 who keeps a very [[TheStoic stoic]], [[TaughtByExperience tactical]] approach while [[spoiler: Junko]] is a [[TeensAreMonsters teenage analytic schemer]], a ManipulativeBastard, and a PsychopathicManchild.
*** Katakuri has a powerful BigBrotherInstinct that extends even to those not of his real family while [[spoiler: Junko is abusive to her older sister Mukuro]].
*** Katakuri is TheStoic (with occasional flashes of being NotSoStoic) while [[spoiler: Junko]] is a {{Troll}} who gets off on causing conflict and belittling others.
*** Katakuri is a JerkWithAHeartOfGold who cares for all of the students despite being fairly antisocial while [[spoiler: Junko]] is FauxAffablyEvil, [[spoiler: her playful personality a mask for the monstrous sadist underneath]].
** Katakuri is also one to Makoto.
*** While Makoto is one of [[TinySchoolboy the shortest males in the entire cast at 5'3]], Katakuri is [[LargeAndInCharge the tallest of the entire cast, standing at 16'8]].
*** Makoto is an OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent and a RookieRedRanger whereas Katakuri is a powerful warrior with unnatural abilities (his Devil Fruit and Haki) and a sub-leader in one of the most powerful pirate crews in his world.
*** Makoto is a natural NiceGuy and AllLovingHero who wants to get along with everyone, Katakuri is a [[TheStoic stoic]] JerkWithAHeartOfGold who prefers being alone.
*** Makoto's greatest strengths are his [[ThePollyanna optimism]] and [[MagneticHero ability to make friends with anyone]] while Katakuri's greatest strengths are his fighting prowess and [[ExperiencedProtagonist leadership experience]].
* ForTheEvulz: Katakuri discusses this with Makoto [[spoiler: after the first trial when he talks to the Ultimate Lucky Student about Junko being the mastermind]], telling him that where he comes from, there's no shortage of such people that would destroy everything just because they felt like it ([[Characters/OnePieceSirCrocodile Crocodile]] and [[Characters/OnePieceDonquixoteDoflamingo Doflamingo]] come to mind).
--> '''Katakuri''': Where I'm from, my world has countless people like [[spoiler: Junko]] who desire chaos above all else. No money, no reason, no bargaining. Just wanting to see the world burn with everyone screaming is a demon's dream come true.
* GoodIsNotNice: Katakuri embodies this trope. Make no mistake, he's firmly against Monokuma and will do what it takes to save as many of the students as possible. However, Katakuri is not unwilling to harshly reprimand them for their actions if he feels that they're going to make things worse, and can still be violent to them if properly provoked.
* GoodIsNotSoft: Again, Katakuri is this. He is actively trying to save the students, but he is also incredibly powerful and willing to use that strength if he must, whether it be to make students listen to him or breaking Monokuma's weapons.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Katakuri definitely is this. He's fairly anti-social to most of the class while being rather stoic, and he also isn't unafraid to be violent if they anger him. Underneath that, however, lies someone who genuinely cares about others and is more than willing to PetTheDog and form strong friendships, and is unwilling to sacrifice the lives of the students just so he can escape, instead attempting to save as many of them as he can.
* MassOhCrap: Definitely the overall reaction to Katakuri's introduction by everyone but Makoto, Himiko, and Akane. He's stronger, faster, and bigger than anyone in the entire group, and the fact he's a stoic, no-nonsense individual with supernatural abilities who is more than willing to strike if angered makes things more frightening for them.
* MisplacedRetribution: Because Makoto was the one who introduced Katakuri to the group while Monokuma revealed the Killing Game, Hiyoko, Tenko, and Toko all gang up on Makoto and begin calling him the one responsible for the Killing Game.
* TheMole: At least two are confirmed so far: [[spoiler: Tsumugi Shirogane and Mukuro Ikusaba (though the Ultimate Soldier does reveal her role to Katakuri and Makoto after the former confronts her about it)]].
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler: After Sayaka is saved, Katakuri confronts her for her actions, pointing out that her idol group would more than likely be disappointed in her because she fell to murder, and afterwards, Sayaka is left immensely regretful of her actions]].
* NewFriendEnvy: Tenko develops this as Himiko bonds more with Katakuri than her, not at all helped by the fact that [[DoesNotLikeMen Katakuri is male]].
* NiceToTheWaiter: Katakuri sincerely compliments Teruteru for the meal he makes, stating that he's never seen anyone outside his family do as well as the Ultimate Cook did. Considering that his family includes [[SupremeChef Chiffon and Pudding]], it's incredibly high praise.
* NoNonsenseNemesis: Katakuri develops this with Monokuma, being stoic in the face of all of Monokuma's attempts to goad him and treating him as seriously as Doflamingo.
* NoSell: Thanks to the Mochi-Mochi Fruit, Katakuri is able to shrug off the fire from a gatling gun, doing a BulletCatch by having his mochi catch each bullet and then release them after the gun is done firing.
* NotSoAboveItAll: Just like in canon, this is one of Katakuri's traits. He usually comes off as a stoic, no-nonsense individual, but he is more than capable of being playful (his introduction is basically a massive, childish prank he drags Makoto into, and gets more than a little satisfaction in frightening Shuichi's group, particularly Kaito), and his love of donuts hasn't ceased in the slightest, endearing him to Hina.
* OddFriendship: The stoic, giant, FaceOfAThug, and serious Charlotte Katakuri gets along surprisingly well with the bubbly, friendly, social, and kind-hearted Aoi Asahina. Both bond over having the same TrademarkFavoriteFood, and Katakuri reassures the Ultimate Swimming Pro that her worrying about her little brother doesn't make her weak.
* OlderHeroVsYoungerVillain: [[spoiler: Junko]] is a TeenGenius, but also a sadistic psychopath who wishes to crush the hope of the Hope's Peak students by forcing them into a [[DeadlyGame Killing Game]]. By contrast, Katakuri is 48 years old, and while he is a pirate, he's a JerkWithAHeartOfGold who opposes her and genuinely cares for the other students.
* OutsideContextProblem: Katakuri is '''way''' stronger than the rest of the Ultimates, and even with that, he wields outright unnatural abilities thanks to his Haki and Mochi-Mochi Fruit. He's also able to read Monokuma like a book and lacks any form of weakness that Monokuma can find to get him to commit murder, and he is utterly unafraid and unimpressed by Monokuma, discounting [[spoiler: Junko]] as "...if Doflamingo and Caesar Clown [had] a kid and that kid [got] thrown away".
* PetTheDog: Katakuri has a number of these moments.
** He helps Himiko reach a staff out of her reach and lets her call him "Big Bro".
** He reassures Chihiro that [[spoiler: his plan would have worked had it not been for Monokuma finding out, and earlier protects the Ultimate Programmer from the bear's wrath]].
** He forms a bond with Asahina over their TrademarkFavoriteFood, and reassures the Ultimate Swimming Pro that worrying about her little brother doesn't make her weak at all, affirming that he believes she is strong.
** When Mikan begins undermining herself in one of her self-deprecative rants, Katakuri reassures her that [[spoiler: Sayaka would appreciate what she did to make her look presentable, and compliments her for not falling to the mob mentality Monokuma wants to instill in the rest of the class, deciding to see for herself the truth by asking Katakuri directly instead of blindly believing Monokuma's words]].
** [[spoiler: While he does chew Sayaka for her actions, he talks her down from committing suicide, telling her that the fact she feels guilty about what she did means that she is not a monster in his eyes and that she still has a chance to make things right, assuring the Ultimate Pop Sensation that he forgives her]].
** After [[spoiler: the first trial]], he tells Makoto that while he may be naive, it's a breath of fresh air for him, and that his kindness will one day prove useful, and the little things like being nice to everyone and believing in them will make him someone extraordinary.
** Katakuri also compliments Teruteru for his work as a SupremeChef, noting that he's never seen someone outside his family cook as well as he can.
** [[spoiler: When he realizes that Mukuro is working with Junko due to their familial ties, he bluntly tells her that Junko feels that she can simply replace her, family ties be damned. However, he does also tell the Ultimate Soldier that he knows she wants to get out of her sister's shadow and that she's better than what she thinks of herself, tells that Makoto finds her wonderful, and assures her that she's far more than a simple robot who follows orders, encouraging her to find her own path and break from her sister's clutches]].
** [[spoiler: While Katakuri does defeat Akane in a CurbStompBattle and has her reveal her need to be strong for her little siblings, Katakuri comes to her after the fight and relates his struggles as a BrokenAce as a result of his bullies attacking Brûlée, telling her that being the pillar for her family will lead her to breakdown. In addition, he also reveals the truth of origins, and when Akane, newly invigorated, tells him to prepare for the next round, Katakuri assures her that he will be waiting.]]
* RulesLawyer: Katakuri uses Monokuma's own rules against him, preventing Monokuma from punishing Chihiro [[spoiler: since he had never set a rule that the students couldn't break into his files]].
* SecretKeeper: [[spoiler: As a means to help her understand that he's not so different from her, Katakuri reveals to Akane his true origins as a pirate from another world]].
* SeriousBusiness: It turns out that proper eating is this to Teruteru. When he finds out that Katakuri has had nothing but donuts in his life, he is furious, running out with eyes blazing and dressing Katakuri down for his poor diet. Katakuri is unfazed, but does give the Ultimate Chef the chance to change his mind, a challenge Teruteru eagerly accepts.
* ShoutOut: [[spoiler: During her emotional war of breaking free or serving Junko, one of the questions Mukuro confronts is "[[Recap/AvatarTheLastAirbenderLakeLaogai It's time that you look inward and ask yourself the big question! Who are you? And what do you want?]]"]]
* SpannerInTheWorks: If [[spoiler: Junko's]] plan is a complex set of gears, then Katakuri is mochi that gums up and jams the gears. Because of his presence, things go awry quite a lot. He's not only able to stand up to Monokuma and calm the students down and get them into a more rational state, he's also able to [[spoiler: save Sayaka and Leon, averting any deaths thus far. Tsumugi, any time he's shown up, is mostly struggling at how to try to keep the Killing Game in motion thanks to him causing no shortage of problems]].
* SparedByTheAdaptation:
** [[spoiler: Given Chiaki's presence in the game, and the fact it doesn't appear to be a simulation, the real Chiaki was never killed by Junko to drive her class to despair]].
** [[spoiler: While Sayaka seemed to be dead, Katakuri realizes that the knife stopped the bleeding and is thus able to save her life, though gives her a blistering ReasonYouSuckSpeech when she recovers]].
** [[spoiler: Junko never attempts to murder Mukuro out of boredom or to prove herself as the one in control since she tried and failed to use Katakuri as a SacrificialLion]].
** [[spoiler: In canon, no one was able to help Leon after his battering from [[CruelAndUnusualDeath The Thousand Blows]] due to the fence separating them from him but here, the much stronger Katakuri rips the fence that separates him from the Ultimate Baseball Star and saves his life, though he is left comatose]].
* TalkingDownTheSuicidal: [[spoiler: Katakuri helps Sayaka recover after she's DrivenToSuicide, reassuring her that while her actions were indeed abhorrent and there are those like Byakuya and Kyoko who won't forgive her, she still has people like Hina and Keebo who believe in her, and Makoto is still teetering between trusting her or dismissing her. He also tells her that she is not a monster because she knows that what she did is wrong and feels regret for it, unlike Monokuma who knows he's in the wrong and gives no care about it. Katakuri concludes his response by giving Sayaka an AffectionateGestureToTheHead and telling her that he forgives her]].
* TooDumbToLive: Oh yes, Hifumi and Hiro. It's a [[SarcasmMode great idea to try and look under the scarf of someone who could probably snap you all like a twig and see what he's hiding, even when it's made obvious that it's not something he's comfortable with, and Makoto is clearly trying to get him to calm down]]. Suffice it to say, Katakuri erupts in anger and everyone learns that you don't push his BerserkButton.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: Monokuma does this to Katakuri, but [[JustifiedTrope justified]] by the fact that Katakuri has outright supernatural abilities rather than simply being superhuman like the other Ultimates. While he does give credit to Katakuri for standing up to him, he treats the pirate with as much respect as he does the rest of the class. He even attempts to have Katakuri be the SacrificialLion to show how serious he is, using a [[GatlingGood gatling gun]] to riddle him with bullets. Thanks to the Mochi-Mochi Fruit, however, Katakuri is utterly unaffected, and retaliates with destroying the gatling gun with a jellybean, much like he did to Jigra.
* WakingUpElsewhere: Katakuri wakes up in Hope's Peak where he had previous been in Brûlée's Mirro-World.
* WarriorTherapist: [[spoiler: Katakuri, during his duel against Akane, decides to try and understand what drives her to fight, and when she answers that she wants to become stronger, he pushes her to reveal that it's for her little siblings. While it does break her afterwards, Katakuri does later come to her and reveal his own struggles with being TheAce of his family and how it saddled him with all manner of pressures]].
* WhatTheHellHero: After Makoto struggles to defend himself from the MisplacedRetribution of Toko, Tenko, and Hiyoko, the three of them get called out for their blaming of him and generally wasting time by the rest of the class.
