5	Mollie Sugden, born Mary Isobel Sugden, (21 July 1922 -- 1 July 2009), was a British actress best known for playing Mrs. Slocombe in ''Series/AreYouBeingServed'' and ''Series/GraceAndFavour''.

7	Her first regular sitcom role was Mrs. Crispin in ''Hugh and I''. This role also got her the later role of Mrs. Hutchinson in ''The Liver Birds''. Around the same time as ''Hugh and I'', she occasionally played Nellie Harvey in ''Series/CoronationStreet''.

9	In 1972, she was cast as Mrs. Slocombe in ''Are You Being Served?'', notable for her ever-changing hair colour and her frequent mentions of her "pussy" (her cat, Tiddles). In 1977, she was cast as the titular Mrs. Noah in ''Series/ComeBackMrsNoah'', a very poorly received sitcom.

11	She had other starring sitcom roles such as ''That's My Boy'', ''My Husband and I'' and the '90s {{Revival}} of ''The Liver Birds''. In 1992, she and several of the ''AYBS?'' cast members returned for an AfterShow, ''Grace & Favour''. It ran for two series.
