Marion Cotillard (born September 30, 1975 in Paris) is a French actress.

The daughter of playwright and stage director Jean-Claude Cotillard, she's been active on French television and in movies since the mid-nineties. She became known due to the popular success of the Film/Taxi film series and reached national recognition with her César award for Best Supporting Actress in Film/AVeryLongEngagement, then international stardom with Film/LaVieEnRose (for which she won the best actress Oscar). She's perhaps the favorite French actress of Hollywood since the early 2010s, having appeared in a number of high profile films including two from Creator/ChristopherNolan.

* CastingGag: invoked
** In Film/Inception, inadvertently. Music/EdithPiaf's song "Non, je ne regrette rien" was in use before Marion was cast, and Nolan considered removing it, but too much of the score had already been written around it.
** And then later, in Film/MidnightInParis, Marion played Adrianna, a young woman who chooses to forget her own time and live in an idealized world. Like Mal in Film/Inception.
* DeathGlare: You might think that someone as cute as her won't be able to execute one. She can, and she did.
* FakeNationality: invoked Plays a Canadian news anchor in Film/Anchorman2TheLegendContinues.
* FakeMixedRace: invoked Plays a part Native American in Film/PublicEnemies.
* FemmeFatale: A lot of her roles, most notably in Film/AVeryLongEngagement, Film/Inception and Film/TheDarkKnightRises.
* MsFanservice: She's very beautiful, and isn't shy at all about nudity or sex scenes in her films.
* NotSoSmallRole: Miranda Tate in Film/TheDarkKnightRises, an original character with no connection whatsoever to the comics? Nice try. [[spoiler: She's actually Talia al Ghul]].
* ProductionPosse: invoked
** Her boyfriend Creator/GuillaumeCanet often casts her in the movies he directs.
** She appeared in two Creator/ChristopherNolan movies.
** She appeared alongside Creator/MichaelFassbender in Theatre/Macbeth and Assassin's Creed. Both were directed by Justin Kurzel.
* StarMakingRole: In France, the Film/Taxi films made her name known and Film/AVeryLongEngagement earned her major recognition with a César award for Best Supporting Actress. Internationally, the role of Music/EdithPiaf in Film/LaVieEnRose brought her plenty of awards and Hollywood noticed her as a result.
