4John Patrick [=McEnroe=] Jr. (born February 16, 1959) is an American former UsefulNotes/Tennis player who has 77 singles and 78 doubles titles on the ATP Tour (the top combined total for men in the Open EraDefined as starting in 1968, the first year in which all of the Grand Slam events were open to professionals.), including seven titles in Grand Slam singles events. He's also the only male player ever to have been No. 1 in singles and doubles at the same time, and was year-end No. 1 in both for three straight years (1981–83), a record for men or women. The only woman to be year-end No. 1 in both disciplines, Martina Navratilova, did so twice. [=McEnroe=] still frequently competes in seniors events, and to the current generation may be best known as a TV commentator who's often creepily accurate in his predictions.
