Ryan Nicks, better known as [=PurpleEyesWTF=] (a possible play on Creator/LittleKuriboh's alias [=CardGamesFTW=]), is the creator of the abridged series WebVideo/CodeMENT, as well as the abridged series genre known as the abridgement. Unlike other abridged series, the abridgement genre relies on distinct voices, slick editing, nonsensical humor, and pushing the limit from offensive to insanely absurd. Although most of his works are extremely wacky in both their premise and execution, Ryan has a clearly high standard for comedic timing and writing, frequently making what should be lowbrow jokes somewhat intelligent.

Sadly, it seems the madman is retired from making abridged series. His final video, ''Digimanz: The Adventure Too'', was released February 29, 2020 (with a slightly edited version of the same video released on April 1st, 2020).

Even though Ryan may be done abridging series himself, he still does show up every now and then in other abridged shows.

But then to everyone's surprise, ''Code MENT'' Episode 17 was uploaded on April 1st, 2024, suggesting Ryan is returning to the Abridged scene.

!! Tropes applying to [=PurpleEyesWTF=] and his works:

* AuthorAppeal:
** WesternAnimation/SpaceGhostCoastToCoast, Creator/AdultSwim, and Series/MontyPythonsFlyingCircus are said to have influenced his comedy and tastes.
** Also inverted; if ''Code MENT'' and ''None Piece'' are any indication, it doesn't seem he likes ''Film/TheHangover'' series, especially not ''The Hangover 3''.
* AprilFoolsDay: As a joke, Nicks made a one-shot called [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfBEsPXO6es Pokemans: The Adventure.]]
* BlackComedy: Which he will usually follow up with something that makes little to no sense.
* BleepDammit: When the same swear word is used twice in quick succession, one will be bleeped out while the other will not.
* CloudCuckoolander: Whatever this guy makes makes, it’s pretty... odd.
* ContinuityCreep: Almost all his videos are RandomEventsPlot-driven...until the {{Continuity Nod}}s, {{Brick Joke}}s, and revealed {{Stealth Sequel}}s become clear and we get things like a subplot throughout ''Code MENT'', ''None Piece'', and ''Soul Whatever'' about the recently deceased Jeremiah Gottwald ending up in Death City, meeting a space-time displaced Monkey D. Luffy, and arranging an attempted assassination on Lelouch.
* CutHisHeartOutWithASpoon: In a video about an internet comment, Nicks talks about an early review of the ''VideoGame/{{SSX}}'' series where the reviewer ragged on the music, despite the game letting a player [[LogicBomb use their own music tracks]]. Nicks threatened that if he ever found the reviewer, he would make them walk his cat with a cat leash.
* GeniusDitz: Occasionally has his characters spontaneously spout philosophical theories on the human condition, along with a subtle way of making ironic statements one wouldn't notice on the first watch. Then something usually explodes, dies, murders, etc.
* InsaneTrollLogic: One of his two major sources of comedy, alongside stupidity.
* LogicBomb: The man's logic seems to run on the rule that one should test common logic. Case in point, his channel is "Retrofitted for the future!"
* ManOfAThousandVoices: He's got a wide range of voices, and he's even able to do females...though to varying degrees.
* MindScrew: If you're asking questions about Nicks’ bizarre train of logic within his videos, that's likely because you tried it before and all it led to was more questions.
* NeverLearnedToRead: Many of his characters are illiterate for the sake of comedy. It's generally safe to assume that a character can't read until proven otherwise.
* NonSequitur: Pretty much everything in his videos don't follow any sort of coherence or story structure (though they will for a few moments if it's funny).
* RandomEventsPlot: His abridged series never really follow the plot of any of the series he's abridging. The closest they get is paying lip service to it. Most of the time, random things just happen for the sake of randomness.
* ReclusiveArtist:[[invoked]] At first he was just as mysterious and faceless as most Abridgers when they start out, but as he had begun to become more open about himself he attended more conventions. This was mostly still outside his videos until he began showing his face within the episodes of shows themselves, including some bizarre live-action shorts. However, these shorts were eventually deleted and Nicks had been making fewer and fewer live action appearances; eventually coming to a head, he fully retreated back into reclusive mode following his marriage and retirement from abridging.
* RefugeInAudacity: Pushes the envelope to its absolute limit, and then some.
* RuleOfFunny: Frequently runs on this and little else.
* SelfDeprecation: Most of the stuff featuring just him involves him dying, being insulted, or having the channel move on without him and becoming wildly successful.
* SharedUniverse: Let's see...[[WebVideo/CodeMent Lelouch vi Britannia]] is the cousin of [[Manga/SoulEater Death the Kid]] and the nephew of [[WebVideo/HellsingUltimateAbridged Alucard]] and Shinigami. Jeremiah Gottwald, [[WebVideo/NonePiece Monkey D. Luffy]], [[WebVideo/PokemonTheBridgedSeries Brock]], and [[WebVideo/DanganRonpaAbridgedThing Junko Enoshima]] have all visited Death City at one point. [[WebVideo/NullmetalAlchemist Edward and Alphonse Elric]] have also summoned Lelouch into their universe as well as resurrected Kiyotaka Ishimaru via successful Human Transmutation. Also, Soul Evans might have abridged ''Anime/{{Paprika}}''.
* StuffBlowingUp: It's very rare that something ''doesn't'' blow up when he's writing or directing.
* ToiletHumor: A staple of his videos is that they usually include such a joke.
** Several people in ''Code MENT'' makes jokes about peeing a moat. Shirley actually does it.
** ''One Punch Stan'' features a guy who wants to spread [[ShockSite 2 Girls, 1 Cup]] across the world.
** ''None Piece'' features Sanji shitting in a customer's soup after being told it's not to his liking.
** ''Digimanz Too'' features Ken's head flying off, followed by his body pissing into his own mouth. Ken's fine a moment later.
* TookALevelInDumbass: His usual parody style is to drop most characters' IQ levels into the basement.
* VocalDissonance: It's very common for most of the characters he voices to sound absolutely nothing like one would expect them to, such as the least feminine-sounding voice he could do for [[Anime/PokemonTheSeries Misty.]] [[Administrivia/TropesAreTools It's a lot funnier this way.]]
