Gal Gadot (Hebrew: גל גדות; born in Rosh [=HaAyin=] on April 30, 1985) is an UsefulNotes/{{Israel}}i actress and model.

Before she shifted to acting, she represented the country in the 2004 Miss Universe pageant, and served in the [[UsefulNotes/IsraelisWithInfraredMissiles Israel Defense Forces]] for two years. Her first acting credits date back to the Israeli soap opera ''Bubot'' with the role of Miriam "Merry" Elkayam. In 2009, she made her big screen debut as Gisele Yashar in ''Film/FastAndFurious'', the fourth installment of the action film franchise ''Film/TheFastAndTheFurious''.

The role that marked her [[StarMakingRole big break into stardom]] and the one she is best known for nowadays is the Creator/DCComics {{superhero}}ine [[Franchise/WonderWoman Diana of Themyscira / Wonder Woman]] in the cinematic Franchise/DCExtendedUniverse, first appearing in 2016's ''Film/BatmanVSupermanDawnOfJustice'' then hitting it big with her 2017 solo movie, ''Film/{{Wonder Woman|2017}}''. She is the first actress to play the character in theatrically-released live-action films.[[note]]Creator/CathyLeeCrosby played her in [[Film/WonderWoman1974 a 1974 TV movie]], Creator/LyndaCarter portrayed her in the [[Series/WonderWoman1975 1975 television series]], and Creator/AdriannePalicki played her in [[Series/WonderWoman2011Pilot an unaired 2011 television pilot]]. Theatrical film-wise, Creator/CobieSmulders ''voiced'' her in 2014's ''WesternAnimation/TheLegoMovie''.[[/note]]

She married Yaron Varsano, an Israeli real estate developer, in 2008. They have four daughters, born in 2011, 2017, 2021 and 2024.

!!Tropes & Trivia that apply to her works:

* ActionGirl: Before her acting career, Gadot served in the IDF. As such, she seems to be {{Type Cast|ing}} as them ([[Film/TheFastAndTheFurious Gisele Yashar]], then Wonder Woman, Natalie Jones, Sarah Black/Bishop and Rachel Stone).
* AloofDarkHairedGirl: Applies to several of her characters.
* BadassIsraeli: Gisele Yashar and Natalie Jones are both kickass ex-UsefulNotes/{{Mossad}} agents.
* [[invoked]]CastTheRunnerUp: Gal was approached for the role of Faora in ''Film/ManOfSteel'', but declined due to her pregnancy at the time. She ''perfectly'' made up for it, as Creator/ZackSnyder later cast her as Wonder Woman in the same film universe.
* CowboyBebopAtHisComputer: She received some backlash when it was announced that she will be portraying UsefulNotes/CleopatraVII in an upcoming Creator/{{Paramount}} biopic, with many accusations of [[RaceLift whitewashing]]. However, the real Cleopatra was part of the (frequently incestuous) Greek-Macedonian Ptolemaic dynasty, which would be considered white by modern standards. Although her ethnicity [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethnicity_of_Cleopatra is subject of debate]] (in fact, the race of ancient Egypcians as a whole [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_Egyptian_race_controversy is subject of controversy]]) and it's uncertain who her mother is, the claim that she was black African or even ethnically Egyptian has never been accepted in academia and originated in a book that was published in 1946 which probably, in turn, came from a misunderstanding of Creator/WilliamShakespeare's play ''Theatre/AntonyAndCleopatra''.[[note]]Ironically, not long afterwards there would be another controversy when the ''Queen Cleopatra'' season of the docudrama series ''African Queens'' had Cleopatra portrayed by a black actress.[[/note]]
* GirlOnGirlIsHot:
** She shared a pretty passionate kiss with Creator/IslaFisher as a ploy to defeat the bad guys in ''Film/KeepingUpWithTheJoneses''.
** In ''Wonder Woman'', Diana states that she has read the nymph Clio's twelve volumes on the "pleasures of the flesh". They come to the conclusion that men are needed for reproduction but unnecessary for pleasure -- she comes from an [[LadyLand island where there's no man at all]], after all.
** The kiss she shared with Creator/KateMcKinnon on ''Series/SaturdayNightLive'' when parodying ''Wonder Woman''.
* InkSuitActor: Shank, the character she voices in ''WesternAnimation/RalphBreaksTheInternet'', is clearly modelled after her, and very possibly after [[Film/TheFastAndTheFurious Gisele Yashar]], specifically.
* MetaCasting:
** Her first acting role was as a model in the Israeli telenovela ''Bubot''.
** She served two years in the Israeli Defense Forces. This was an admitted factor in why she was cast as Wonder Woman.
** Creator/HedyLamarr was a Jew born in Austria and escaped the Nazis to the US before the outbreak of World War II. Gal's maternal grandmother was also a Central European Jew (born in Poland) who escaped the Nazis.
* MsFanservice: Not nearly as sexualized as most, but her beauty is often noted both in-universe and out. Typically played straighter in her earlier roles. Plus there is the commercial for Gucci's Bamboo fragrance where she is seen playing the piano naked.
* StatuesqueStunner:
** She stands at about 5'10, so in her Wonder Woman wedge boots she is almost as tall as Creator/BenAffleck and Creator/HenryCavill.
** In ''Keeping Up With The Jones'', she easily towers over Creator/IslaFisher.
* StarMakingRole: Wonder Woman was her big international break, without a doubt.
* WhatTheHellIsThatAccent: Rumor has it that Gadot deliberately keeps her (very noticeable) Israeli accent while acting even characters of supposedly different nationalities. Because most people have never heard an Israeli accent, they tend to just confuse it for a "generically foreign" one that fits whichever she's supposed to be at the time (Greek, Latina, etc.)
