[[folder:Playable Characters]]

!!In general
* FlatCharacter: Due to the game not having an emphasis on story.

!!Green Knight

* PoisonousPerson: Uses poison elemental attacks.
* TechnicolorToxin: His poison attacks are green.

!!Red Knight

* ShockAndAwe: His element is lightning.

!!Blue Knight

* AnIcePerson: Uses ice powered attacks.

!!Orange Knight

* PlayingWithFire: Has fire-fueled attacks.

!!Gray Knight

* AscendedExtra: Can go from a simple NPC to a playable character after defeating the Barbarian Boss.
* ADayInTheLimelight: The Gray Knight is one of the King's Red Shirts.
* BadassNormal: His "magic" abilities are just unleashing a hail of arrows and throwing bombs. Can still kick ass with the rest of them.
* HavingABlast: Can throw bombs as projectiles. The bombs can also be used for breaking walls just like the consumable bomb items.
* RedshirtArmy: Many of them are killed in the first few levels alone. Good thing the King has so many of them...

!!Open Faced Gray Knight

* BadassNormal: Like the Gray Knight, his "magic" is more just using standard equipment and calling in arrows from offscreen support.
* HeadSwap: Of the Gray Knight. Mechanically, instead of bombs, the Open Faced Gray Knight throws daggers for projectile magic, but keeps the arrow rain for wave magic.

!!Blacksmith

* BackInTheSaddle: When chosen as a player character, he dons his old armor for old time's sake during a party, then gets swept up in the quest to save the King's daughters not long after.
* TheBlacksmith: Of course.
* PlayingWithFire: His magic projectile is a flaming hammer.
* PurpleIsPowerful: The king allowed him to wear purple because of his strength. Purple is considered a royal color and the price of purple dye is expensive, so it's normally reserved for royalty.
* RetiredBadass: He was once one of the most powerful knights of the land, but he retired from fighting and became a blacksmith.
* WeaponsOfTheirTrade: He's a blacksmith and his starting weapon is his hammer.

!!Pink Knight

* AgentPeacock: The most flamboyant of the playable characters, but just as strong as the rest.
* CampyCombat: The Pink Knight's magic has him hurling rainbows at enemies while posing in a very camp manner.
* CheeryPink: Clad in pink and is quite cheerful.
* HeartIsAnAwesomePower: Uses rainbows, stuffed animals and even a lollipop to battle with.
* {{Keet}}: Is very often seen smiling.
* RealMenWearPink: His pink armor might suggest he's female, but he isn't.
* SixthRanger: Is pretty much the honorary fifth knight of the group.

!!{{VideoGame/Alien|Hominid}}

* CombatPragmatist: They have the same fighting style as the Thief, and they attack the knights in huge numbers. Understandable, considering their relative squishiness.
* ConservationOfNinjutsu: Despite their superior numbers, they aren't at all more dangerous than any other enemy group.
* EnergyWeapon: His magic involves unleashing laser blasts.
* OneHitPointWonder: {{Averted}} by the playable version, but the enemy versions will die in about one hit each.
* ViolationOfCommonSense: Their shield is a ''giant hand grenade''.
* ZergRush: They might each be a OneHitPointWonder, but they make up for it by practically ''filling'' the screen to attack you.

!!Barbarian

* BarbarianHero: A playable Barbarian will become this.
* TheGoomba: The very first {{Mooks}} you will encounter, and consequently the easiest.

!!Bear

* BearsAreBadNews: At least if you're fighting them.
* BlowYouAway: They use wind magic.

!!Brute

* BossInMookClothing: The Beefy Brute in the Industrial Castle is the strongest enemy there aside from the boss and he has a animal orb companion, which for reference only the [[MiniBoss Bear Boss]] and the camel rider have a similar distinction of having (and the camel rider is no more dangerous the a normal Saracen once actually caught up to).
* GiantMook: Only two Brutes are encountered as enemies, and both of them are beefy.
* GreenThumb: His splash attack is a wave of thorny vines. And his projectile is an acorn.
* UniqueEnemy: Again, only ''two'' Brutes are encountered as enemies in the entire game, one of them in the Industrial Castle with the Cardinal animal orb, and the other near the end of the game brought back to life by the Necromancer (meaning it may well be the same Brute both times).

!!Civilian

* BadassNormal: A regular citizen who can take on armies with just the arrows he has.

!!Cone Head

* HavingABlast: One of the few characters that can summon bombs out of nowhere.
* LaserBlade: Their line carry laser-induced swords.

!!Cult Minion

* NoSell: Enemy Cult Minions are immune to status effects and only take one damage from elemental attacks.

!!Fencer

* ExtraOreDinary: Uses metal-based magic such as summoning saw blades.
* SchizoTech: Uses circular buzzsaw blades in a medieval setting.

!!Fire Demon

* PlayingWithFire: Like the Orange Knight, it has fire elemental magic.

* EyeBeams: His ranged magic attack has him firing blue tear lasers from his eyes.
* GemstoneAssault: Several of his magic attacks rely on throwing gems at enemies.
* OldSaveBonus: Having VideoGame/BattleBlockTheater in your library will let you play as the mascot of the series.

!!Iceskimo

* AnIcePerson: Like the blue knight, he uses ice magic.

!!Industrialist

* ExtraOreDinary: Clad in iron and uses it as magic.
* SchizoTech: Like the Fencer, he uses buzzsaw blades as magic attacks.

!!Killer Beekeeper

* BeeBeeGun: Uses his bees as magic attacks.

!!King

* BigGood: As the good king. He rules the land where you live.
* DevelopersForesight: If anyone is playing as him, the King NPC will not be present at the start of Tall Grass Field.
* TheMedic: Has no true splash attack, but his magic can heal the entire party.
* PurpleIsPowerful: Wears purple and is just as strong as the other party members.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: A downloadable playable character, but even if you aren't playing as him he still shows up to help you defeat the Catfish.

!!Necromancer

* BlackKnight: A knight clad in dark colors that serves the game's BigBad.
* CoDragons: [[spoiler:With the Painter and Recyclops to the Wizard.]]
* TheDragon: He's the main Second-In-Command to the Evil Wizard.
* {{Necromancer}}: Natch.
* StoneWall: The actual fight with him is more of an arena battle. His attacks don't hurt much, but he has a lot of health and can defend against standard melee attacks.

!!Ninja

* GratuitousNinja: They can throw shurikens; their starting weapon is a sai, and they can disappear and counterattack you.
* NinjaLog: When hit by a regular attack, they drop a wooden dummy of themselves before teleporting above you for a surprise attack.
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: These ninjas have a pirate ship.
* SecretAIMoves: Sadly, the playable Ninja does not have access to somersault attacks or teleportation.

!!Peasant

* BadassNormal: A regular farmer who can take on armies with just the arrows he has.

!!Royal Guard

* HavingABlast: Like the Conehead and Grey Knight, they can throw bombs using just their magic.

!!Saracen

* BlowYouAway: Can start a tornado as its splash attack.
* GoKartingWithBowser: A few of them play volleyball with you at the end of the sand castle.
* UniqueEnemy: One Saracen is both riding a camel ''and'' has the Zebra animal orb. To obtain it, you must catch up with him before he escapes.

!!Skeleton

* CastingAShadow: They use shadow magic.
* DemBones: And despite being a skeleton, they draw blood when they're hit.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: While most characters have rectangular heads, Skeletons have round skulls that resemble the CriticalHit icon. Oddly enough, their skulls become rectangular when [[XRaySparks electrocuted]].
* NoSell: Enemy Skeletons are immune to the effects of poison. Makes sense, considering they're not actually alive.

!!Snakey

* GreenThumb: Like the Brute, Snakey has a wave of thorns from the ground as its splash attack.
* MookFaceTurn: If you bring a Snakey to the fight against Medusa, you will earn the "Traitor" achievement.

!!Stove Face

* BadassNormal: Like the Thief, Peasant, Civilian, Grey Knights, and Royal Guard, its magic is just a hail of arrows and a thrown dagger.

!!Thief

* BanditMook: They can steal the players' food to recover their own health.
* CombatPragmatist: Their favorite tactic is to run away from you and shoot you. In melee combat, they will only use quick attacks, which are impossible to dodge.
* NoArcInArchery: The only enemy to play this trope straight, at least regarding non-magical bow attacks.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Bosses]]

!!War Machine

* CrosshairAware: A big flashing X appears on the ground whenever it fires a bomb.
* FlunkyBoss: Will occasionally open up to dislodge some Barbarians.
* Instant180DegreeTurn: Capable of this even when charging around the battlefield at full speed. It always happens offscreen, though.
* StealthPun: It resembles a ram and it charges at you for one of its attacks. So it's pretty much a "battering ram".

!! Barbarian Boss

* TheAlcoholic: When his health is below 50%, he will start utilizing an attack where he drinks a huge keg of booze, causing him to then [[VomitIndiscretionShot barf a huge unblockable trail of fire]]. (The keg also explodes after being tossed)
* BadBoss: He crushes a beefy barbarian upon entering the level, and doesn't care if a mook is accidentally hit by his attacks.
* BaitAndSwitchBoss: You are challenged by a [[GiantMook beefy barbarian]] when you first enter his arena. Then the barbarian gets crushed by the real boss, who fights you instead.
* FlunkyBoss: As his health gets low, regular barbarians will start fighting by his side.
* LightningBruiser: His movement speed becomes frighteningly fast when close to death in Insane Mode.
* KingMook: He's the biggest and strongest barbarian.
* MightyGlacier: He's the strongest barbarian, even making a beefy barbarian look small. But he's incredibly slow, at least on Standard Mode, and his attacks can be easily avoided.
* ShieldBash: He has a gigantic shield on his back which he can use to try and squash you with.
* StarterVillain: The first proper boss of the game, and the one who initially kidnaps the princesses.
* TopHeavyGuy: [[ExaggeratedTrope His fists are as large as his entire lower body.]]
* UnskilledButStrong: Not very graceful with his attacks, but he's very big and hits quite hard when you first encounter him.
* WarmUpBoss: Despite more difficult than the War Machine and packing a decent punch, he's slow enough both in movement and attack wind-up that first-time players won't have too much difficulty.

!! Troll Mother

* AllTrollsAreDifferent: The smaller trolls appear to be made entirely of hair. They are born from her shed fur.
* ArmlessBiped: Unlike her children.
* DegradedBoss: Appears as a miniboss in the Thieves' Forest, but another is seen in the Marsh as a regular encounter.
* GetBackHereBoss: She runs away from you whenever she's hit. On Insane mode, this only happens when she's low on health.
* MookMaker: Her only attack involves spawning smaller trolls to fight by her side. They can pile up very quickly if you're not careful.
* WakeUpCallBoss: In Insane Mode. Troll Mother litters the arena with her Insane-boosted flunkies and it essentially forces the player(s) to learn heavy crowd control lest they get swarmed and beaten to death before they can even react.

!! Giant Troll

* EscapeSequence: The first encounter with it in the Thieves' Forest is just escaping it.
* EyeBeams: [[spoiler:If you don't attack him for several seconds while dealing with the Thief mooks on the carriage, he'll charge up and fire giant red ones from his eyes. Luckily, attacking him will reset the attack windup.]] Or [[LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe you can just block the beams with your shield]]. Whichever works.
* SuperPersistentPredator: It apparently believes that Knights make an excellent meal, as he'll chase after them though a whole abandoned mill [[spoiler:and later on the way to the Cyclops' fortress]].

!! The Catfish

* CatsAreMean: It's a big fish that resembles a cat that's trying to kill you.
* PuzzleBoss: It has incredibly high defense when its teeth are clenched. To beat it, you have to protect the King's ship from its hairballs so that he can fire a cannon at it, stunning it and causing it to open its mouth temporarily so you can deal a lot of damage.
* RammingAlwaysWorks: Played with in that while it can swim through the water to ram and hurt you, if you lure him into smashing head-first into the King's ship he'll take damage while the ship remains unharmed.

!! Bear Boss

* BearsAreBadNews: The Bear Boss is stronger than the other Bears of the Tall Grass Fields, and calls over an animal orb companion for the fight.
* TheBeastMaster: When the Bear Boss is dancing right before the fight, Rammy the animal orb comes over to assist it against the player characters.
* BlowYouAway: Like the other Bears, it uses powerful wind magic. It especially loves to use its TornadoMove.
* EliteMook: It's a more powerful Bear that acts as a miniboss for the Tall Grass Fields.
* FlunkyBoss: Waves of regular Bears will join the fight occasionally.

!! Pipistrello/Bitey bat

A large bat that lives in Pipistrello's Cave. After its defeat, it shrinks down into the Bitey Bat animal orb.
----

* AlliterativeName: '''B'''itey '''B'''at.
* BatOutOfHell: Pipistrello is a large, violent murderous bat. Turning into Bitey Bat makes him smaller and weaker, but he retains the violence.
* DeathOfAThousandCuts: Bitey Bat's attack is very weak. With enough patience and running around in a fight on the player's part, he can do this to enemies, [[AwesomeButImpractical but players are better off just running in and hitting stuff themselves.]]
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Defeating Pipistrello causes him to shrink down into the Bitey Bat Animal Orb.
* FlunkyBoss: Swarms of smaller bats will occasionally join the fight.
* HeelFaceTurn: As Pipistrello, he is a giant, violent, murderous bat who tries to kill the protagonists. When he turns into Bitey bat, he can help fight the player character's enemies if he's brought along. He is both the only animal orb that was a former boss enemy himself, and the only boss character that can directly join & aid the player characters in battle after his defeat.
* IronicName: Pipistrello is likely named after the pipistrelle, a species of bats in real life. Pipistrelles, unlike Pipistrello, are quite small.
* MeaningfulName: Bitey bat is a bat… [[DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment that bites.]]
* OneHitKill: In Insane Mode, its Lick attack will do 999 damage regardless of level. If a swarm of bats manages to pin you down, consider yourself dead.
* RedemptionDemotion: When he turns into a helpful animal orb, he decreases in size and strength to the point where he's only as big and strong as a regular bat in the game.
* SupportPartyMember: As Bitey Bat, his damage output is laughable, but the real advantage is that his attacks hold his target in place for a short bit, which can give the player characters a short amount of time to start a combo attack on said enemy.

!! Conehead Groom

* ArrangedMarriage: Attempts to marry the Green Princess against her will.
* CrosshairAware: A series of flashing X's appear on the floor when he's about to fire a barrage of bombs.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Even though you kill him and his Cyclops friend [[spoiler:twice, his ghost still shows up at the King's castle to celebrate your victory over the Evil Wizard]].
* KingMook: Is a bigger and more powerful Conehead.
* InstrumentOfMurder: Plays a pipe organ with cannons for pipes.
* LightningBruiser: Attacks surprisingly quickly and can deal lots of damage if you aren't careful.
* OminousPipeOrgan: His organ can somehow shoot a barrage of bombs.

!! Cyclops

* AvengingTheVillain: He tries to avenge the death of the Conehead Groom when you fight him in his fortress.
* BackFromTheDead: [[spoiler:After you defeat the Dragon and Sock Puppet, the Necromancer revives him and turns him into the Recyclops.]]
* BerserkButton: He gets really angry (and ridden with grief) when you kill the Conehead Groom.
* TheBrute: [[spoiler:As the Recyclops. He's the second boss you fight in the Evil Wizard's castle.]]
* ClimaxBoss: He's the final enemy that needs to be defeated in order to rescue the Green Princess, and he has a decent set-up of an overarching plot to let his best friend/possible son the Conehead Groom marry her, which is where the King and his men come in to invade the Groom's castle, with the final showdown around his friend's coffin.
* CoDragons: [[spoiler:With the Painter and Necromancer to the Wizard.]]
* DevelopersForesight: Unlike most bosses, if you fail his boss fight, [[HaveANiceDeath he will angrily roar at the fallen player(s) while flipping them off once again.]]
* DualWielding: Carries around two knives in a reverse-grip that he tries to overhead slam into you.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: He's very close with the Conehead Groom.
* FlippingTheBird: Before the fight with him starts, he does this while angrily roaring at the player(s).
* ShoutOut: [[spoiler:His death where he falls into a pit of lava and gives a thumbs up is a reference to T-800's death in ''Terminator 2: Judgement Day''.]]
* TurnsRed: As he takes more damage, he gets madder and starts moving faster. [[spoiler:This ends up killing him because he runs too fast and trips into the lava grave at the end of the fight.]]

!! Volcano

* FlunkyBoss: Will be accompanied by two Fire Demons, [[TacticalSuicideBoss though they're more trouble than they're worth]].
* NoSell: The only boss in the damage that is immune to regular attacks and magic and has to be defeated by using a sandwich to make your character beefy.
* StationaryBoss: Being a living volcano, it can't actually move. It fights by launching volcanic rocks and calling in two Fire Demons to harass you.
* TacticalSuicideBoss: If it didn't keep calling in the Fire Demons, the player wouldn't have access to the supply of sandwiches needed to go beefy and take it out.

!! Dragon and Sock Puppet

* AttackItsWeakPoint: Its chin is the only vulnerable part.
* BreathWeapon: Its major attack is to shoot a stream of fire from its mouth, which also acts as its main source of defense since only the head can be damaged.
* DishingOutDirt: The sock puppet will occasionally grab and throw a rock down the mountain path while the player is busy attacking the head.
* FlunkyBoss: Will occasionally summon a Fire Demon to harass the player, though it's [[BadBoss just as likely to end up killing it]] thanks to its BreathWeapon.
* MacGuffinGuardian: He guards the golden steering wheel, which you need to retrieve in order to cross the ocean to the second part of the game.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: This one uses a sock puppet for some reason.

!! Industrial Prince
!!! Voiced by: Will Stamper

* CowardlyBoss: He just runs away from you until you get to his [[spoiler:giant mech]]. Then he runs again trying to get a ride on the crystal [[spoiler:only to get zapped by the Evil Wizard]].
* DisneyVillainDeath: If you choose to finish him off, your blow knocks him from the castle balcony, where he presumably dies upon hitting the ground.
* HumongousMecha: [[spoiler:As the prince himself sucks in actual combat, he uses one of these. In order to defeat it, all of its attacking parts must be destroyed.]]
* NonActionGuy: No fighting ability whatsoever, relying on his defenses, {{Mooks}}, and his [[spoiler:mecha]] to do it for him. Once you fight through all of that, he goes down with ''one'' hit.
* RoyalRapier: Carries a Fencer's Foil, though he never actually uses it for combat.
* SchizoTech: Somehow managed to create all sorts of mechanisms in the medieval fantasy world.

!! UFO Ships

* FlunkyBoss: The ships will drop Aliens out of them as reinforcements (far more than should fit into that craft).
* MiniBoss: Not truly dangerous enough to be called a proper boss by themselves, but you do fight two of them back-to-back before being sucked up by the major Alien mothership.
* RockBeatsLaser: They are somehow able to be beaten by medieval weaponry.
* TractorBeam: They use one to lift a huge chunk of sandstone to drop it on your head.

!! Killer Corn

* GetBackHereBoss: He often pops up and then hides back down. Especially when he's low on health.
* MacGuffinGuardian: He needs to be defeated in order for the Peasants to retrieve the Horn required to open the Flooded Temple.
* SpinAttack: Will twirl his husk appendages this way as he rushes across the battlefield.

!! Medusa
!!! Voiced by: Creator/KiraBuckland

* AllWomenLoveShoes: A collection of shoes can be found in her castle. Since she doesn't have feet, she wears one on the end of her tail.
* FlunkyBoss: She will constantly spawn and drop small snakes from her hair. She can actually take damage if you manage to knock them back into her with your swings.
* GorgeousGorgon: Not too bad-looking at all even with the slightly more reptilian look, while her snake hair locks work via one head shooting globs of poison into the air at you, one head attacking you when you get too close to strike her body physically, and the rest jumping off her head to act as [[FlunkyBoss individual snakes]].
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: [[spoiler:Turns to stone when you defeat her.]]
* PoisonousPerson: Her snake attacks will poison upon hit.
* SnakePeople: A giant snake with Medusa's head that can summon smaller snakes to attack.
* TakenForGranite: Tries to do this to you when face her while she uses her magic vision [[spoiler:and it ends up happening to her when you defeat her]].

!! Frost King
!!! Voiced by: Will Stamper

* AndIMustScream: [[spoiler:Screams in constant pain as he freezes to death after being defeated.]]
* AnIcePerson: Uses powerful ice magic, allowing him to fire waves of frost, create eruptions of jagged ice, and [[DeathFromAbove conjure and drop icicles from the air onto your head]].
* ClimaxBoss: He's the one holding the Blue Princess hostage and is the last major boss fight before facing off with the BossRush against the Evil Wizard and his remaining underlings.
* LargeHam: His facial expressions and his body movement when attacking greatly resemble anime-style attacks, making him stand out even more than the other bosses.
* PowerIncontinence: [[spoiler:Loses control of his own ice powers and ends up freezing himself upon defeat.]]
* TheComputerShallTauntYou: During the fight against him he will teleport and just taunt you every once in a while.
* TeleportSpam: Constantly teleports around the room when attacking.

!! The Painter

* ArtAttacker: Although he doesn't directly attack you with his brush.
* ArtInitiatesLife: He uses his brush to bring his artwork to life.
* ArtShift: His creations are rendered in a [[StylisticSuck less-refined, non-shaded style similar to many early 2000's animations]].
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: His entire existence as a character is one.
* BossBanter: Is easily the chattiest boss in the entire game.
-->"I will paint you into a corner."\
"My brush is mightier than your sword."\
"My art will be your demise."
* CoDragons: [[spoiler:With the Recyclops and Necromancer to the Wizard.]]
* CowardlyBoss: He uses his elevator to hide behind his hordes of enemies. When you deal enough damage to him, the elevator breaks, and the Painter runs around screaming "ABORT!" and "FOILED!", at which point his drawings start to die in one hit each.
* FlunkyBoss: He has no way to directly attack and instead conjures living drawings (who themselves can only attack with CollisionDamage).
* GetBackHereBoss: He dodges you for the first half of his bar by only coming down from his spot to create more minions. Eventually, his elevator breaks and he runs around screaming for help.

!! The Evil Wizard

* BadBoss: [[spoiler:He zaps the Industrial Prince when he fails him.]]
* BarrierChangeBoss: The second phase of the fight. The blue shield can only be hit by magical attacks, while the red shield can only be hit by physical attacks. Using the wrong attack causes you to damage yourself.
* BigBad: Responsible for stealing the King's magic crystal and kidnapping the Orange Princess.
* CoolSword: For the final phase of the fight, [[spoiler:he summons the Dragon Sword and uses it to unleash powerful fire magic upon you. Defeating him allows you to claim it for yourself, though you have to act fast to grab it before your victory ride whisks you away]].
* DarkIsEvil: Uses dark magic and is the BigBad.
* EldritchAbomination: [[spoiler:When he transforms into a GiantSpider.]]
* FinalExamBoss: Each of his phases requires you to show mastery of a specific mechanic.
** His first phase tests your ability to manage crowds and dodge attacks, as you need to fight off four crystals that deal decent damage, but make themselves vulnerable after each attack.
** His second phase tests your situational awareness and ability to aim, since his attack methods discourage getting too close to him, and hitting him with the wrong type of attack will bounce the damage back onto you.
** His third phase tests your ability to string together air combos, as he never touches the ground.
** His fourth phase tests your adaptability and knowledge of attack telegraphs, as he has several hard-hitting attacks that have distinct tells to them.
** His fifth phase is kind of a breather in comparison. In a way, to see how well you remember a given mechanic.
** His sixth and final phase is a no-holds-barred duel. Do your best and keep your wits about you.
* GiantSpider: [[spoiler:The fourth phase of his boss fight.]]
* LoadBearingBoss: His castle gradually falls apart as you fight him, which is likely due to him [[spoiler:going OneWingedAngel on you]].
* OneWingedAngel: [[spoiler:In the fourth phase, he turns into a GiantSpider that can summon additional Cultists.]]
* SequentialBoss: [[spoiler:There are a total of six phases in his boss fight.]]

!! The Red Princess
!!! Voiced by: Creator/KiraBuckland

!! The Green Princess
!!! Voiced by: Creator/KiraBuckland

* AndNowYouMustMarryMe: Barely subverted, as she almost marries the Conehead Groom against her will.
* GenkiGirl: At least compared to the other princesses, as when she sees the player(s), she'll start cheering you (all) on and doing a fighting animation with her hands.

!! The Blue Princess
!!! Voiced by: Creator/KiraBuckland

* InnocentBlueEyes: That remain teary-eyed until you rescue her.
* TrueBlueFemininity: She wears blue and is one of the princesses you rescue.

!! The Orange Princess
!!! Voiced by: Creator/KiraBuckland

* DeadAllAlong: [[spoiler:The Painter's boss arena has several pictures of her with a knife in her back, suggesting that she was murdered and replaced by Tricky the Clown.]]
* TheFaceless: Her face is concealed for most of the game. [[spoiler:Until the end where's it's revealed to be Tricky The Clown.]]

!! The Weapons Frog

* AndIMustScream: His tongue is tied on with his mouth wide open for most of the game.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Animal orbs]]
A variety of small creatures that players can find and collect to help them in the game. There are 29 of them.
----
!! In general

* DefeatMeansFriendship: Played straight with Bitey Bat. Downplayed with the other ones that are obtained this way. They will only be available to join the player after the player defeats their current companion.
* GottaCatchEmAll: Excluding ones that need to be obtained by buying DLC, they are all required for the "Animal Handler" achievement.
* GuideDangIt: Zigzagged. Getting all of the Animal orbs requires players to replay earlier levels with items they get later on. Some are vaguely hinted at, some of the harder to find ones are mostly found by players who randomly run around the level until they find where the orb is hidden, and some require ''other animal orbs'' to help locate them. Specifics pertaining to certain animal orbs are in their entries below.
* LoyalAnimalCompanion: All of them to whatever character currently owns them. For some, the animal part is questionable.
* PowerFloats: Most of the Animal orbs float, and passively grant the players an increase in certain stats.
* SupportPartyMember: Not all of them can damage enemies directly, and the ones that can usually have a secondary feature that is much more useful to the players. For the majority of animal orbs, they aid the players with passive stat boosts.

!! Beholder
* ExtraEyes: Has five eyes.
* GuideDangIt: To get the Beholder, a player needs the Cardinal animal orb from the Industrial castle stage. They then need to go to the Full Moon stage with the Cardinal animal orb, then, the Cardinal must find the key sword. ''Then'' they must have the key sword equipped, go to the animal ark, go to the back of the room, and use it on (read: attack) the locked door to unlock it, ''[[RunningGag then]]'' go into the now open room, where the Beholder is just sitting there. Nothing in the game outright states any of this.
* {{Oculothorax}}: As is normal for a beholder.
* ScaryTeeth: Has a row of big, spikey teeth in its lower jaw.
* ShoutOut: To the beholders of ''TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons''.
* SupportPartyMember: Is the only animal orb that can increase the magic stat.

!! [=BiPolar=] Bear
A polar bear animal orb found at the end of the Snow world level in a cave. To get it to come out, players must use the Horn near the cave, as hinted at by a nearby sign.
----
* AlliterativeName: '''B'''iPolar '''B'''ear.
* BearsAreBadNews: [=BiPolar=] Bear will savagely maul the ''ever loving shit'' out of anyone with less than 8% health, ''and will maul the player if they drop to 11 health or lower''. In regards to the bosses, he will go after them when they are at less then 11 percent of their total health.
* FriendlyFire: [=BiPolar=] Bear is the only Animal Orb that will attack ''anyone'' who has low health.
* MoodSwinger: [=BiPolar=] Bear's name and violent tendencies is a nod to how [[UsefulNotes/BipolarDisorder Bipolar disorder]] is often portrayed in media.
* PunnyName: Of the words Bipolar and polar bear.
* SupportPartyMember: Since all enemies except bosses have no health bars, [=BiPolar=] Bear is good for both finishing off enemies, and letting a player know when an enemy is dead, so they can move on to another target.

!! Bitey bat

The former boss Pipistrello after he is defeated. For tropes relating to Bitey bat/Pipistrello, see his combined entry in the Bosses folder above.

!! Burly Bear.
Another bear Animal orb, which resembles a deformed grizzly bear. It is found in the Tall Grass Field level, in a cave.
----
* AlliterativeName: '''B'''urly '''B'''ear.
* BearsAreBadNews: While Burley Bear itself doesn't attack, its presence makes its current companion's melee attacks stronger.
* GuideDangIt: Burly Bear cannot be gotten on a new player's/character's first run through the Tall Grass Field. To get it, players must unlock sandwiches and bombs (which are available to buy after completing some later levels), then go back to the short cliff with a ladder. Instead of climbing the ladder, a player must eat a sandwich to become beefy, then remove a large boulder on the left side of the cliff face, and enter the cave it opens up. Once inside, the player must then use bombs to open up a crack in the wall, go into the hole it creates, and move to the right to find Burly Bear.
* SupportPartyMember: Its presence increases the strength of the player who has it as a companion.

!! Cardinal
A cardinal animal orb that the player can obtain after beating its Beefy Brute companion in the industrial castle. It can help the player find hidden items.
----
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Downplayed. To get the Cardinal, the player must beat its companion first.
* GuideDangIt: Not getting the Cardinal itself, but finding things ''with'' the Cardinal. When it's near a secret item, it will fetch it for the player, but since the items are, well, ''secret'', first time players will need to bring the Cardinal to ''every level'' in their search for hidden items without a guide.
* SupportPartyMember: The Cardinal fetches hidden equipment for its current companion when there is some nearby in a level. Its usefulness is limited, however, because once a player has obtained the weapon or item, it is unlocked for them and they don't need to get it again, and the items are only located in a few select levels.

!! Chicken
A chicken animal orb found in the Medusas lair level, buried in the ground. To get it, players have to dig it up.
----
* ADogNamedDog: While some other animal orbs have a PunnyName or AlliterativeName, the Chicken animal orb is just called "Chicken".
* JackOfAllStats[=/=]MasterOfNone: It gives a single point boost to strength, defense, and agility.
* ShoutOut: It's designed to look like the chicken logo of The Behemoth, the game's creators.
* SupportPartyMember: The Chicken gives its current companion an even boost in strength, defense, and agility.

!! Frogglet
A frog… creature found in the Marsh level, buried in the ground. To get it, players have to dig it up.
----
* MixAndMatchCritters: It has the body of a frog, and the antlers of a deer.
* OverlyLongTongue: Frogglet uses it to grab items.
* SupportPartyMember: Frogglet will pick up items for its player companion, which is useful for players who don't want to divide their attention between fighting enemies and picking up the items themselves.

!! Giraffey
A giraffe animal orb found in the first half of the Desert level, buried in the ground. To get it, players have to dig it up.
----
* ExperienceBooster: Giraffey increases experience points gained by ten percent.
* SupportPartyMember: Giraffey increases its player companion's experience gain by ten percent, but since experience points are awarded as one per hit on an enemy, it is nearly useless for high-strength or high-level characters, and is ''completely'' useless for a character at max level.

!! Hawkster
A hawk animal orb found in the Grass field level, in a hut. To make it come out, players must use the horn near its hut, as hinted by a nearby sign.
----
* CombinationAttack: Hawkster works well with its fellow animal orb Rammy, whose attacks knock enemies down.
* FeatheredFiend: Hawkster ''only'' goes to attack enemies who have been knocked down.
* KickThemWhileTheyAreDown: Hawkster will attack enemies who have been knocked down.
* {{Plunder}}: If an enemy dies from damage that knocks it down, Hawkster will rush over to loot food from their body that the player can eat to regain health.
* SupportPartyMember: Hawkster's attack is welcome to players who enjoy stunning enemies by repeatedly stomping them into the ground.
* UtilityPartyMember: What most players bring Hawkster along for is the food he keeps picking up from defeated enemies, which means a player with Hawkster as a companion uses less healing potions overall. Additionally, Hawkster works well with fellow animal orb Piggy, in helping a teammate low on health that has Piggy as their animal orb. Hawkster picks up fruit, and Piggy makes food restore more health.

!! Install Ball
A ball… of some sort. It is found in the Alien Ship level.
----
* GuideDangIt: The Install Ball can only be found on the alien ship during the countdown to its explosion. After taking down the first set of lasers blocking their path, the player needs to walk along the top of the screen to where the ship's wires part, go in the space, walk to the right, and the Install Ball will be there.
* PainfullySlowProjectile: Its photons are fast, but still slow enough to dodge.
* ShoutOut: To the Install Ball from ''VideoGame/AlienHominid''.
* SupportPartyMember: It fires photon projectiles at enemies.

!! Meowburt
A cat animal orb that can be found just after the parade level.
----
* AnimalJingoism: At the party celebrating the wizard's defeat, Meowburt is being chased around the room by Pazzo.
* FromStrayToPet: Once it notices the player characters from its place in the bushes, it hangs around outside the entrance to Cyclops' Cave until the player goes to get it.
* GuideDangIt: To get Meowburt, the player has to exit the cave their head gets smacked into after entering it at the end of the parade level. Before players go into the cave, he peeks out from the bushes for a split second.
* PunnyName: Meow is the English onomatopoeia for the sound a cat makes.
* SupportPartyMember: It gives its player companion a boost in agility.

!! Monkey Face
A monkey animal orb that can be bought at the church store after the Parade level.
----
* MeaningfulName: Monkey Face's body is a monkey face with stubby limbs.
* SupportPartyMember: Monkey Face increases the total chance of enemies dropping weapons, food, and gold.

!! Mr. Buddy
A dog animal orb that increases digging speed. He is in the very first room of the game, but cannot be gotten until he is dug out of the ground with a shovel.
----
* GuideDangIt: The digging spot for Mr. Buddy is right over some hay, and can easily be mistaken as part of its texture at a glance.
* SupportPartyMember: Mr. Buddy increases digging speed.
* UselessUsefulSpell: Digging in combat isn't very effective, and digging for things out of combat doesn't take that long to begin with.

!! Owlet
An owl animal orb hanging around the Forest entrance behind a tree, making music sounds that give players a hint to his whereabouts. It is the first animal orb a player/character can encounter in a new game, barring Sherbert, [[GuideDangIt who is hiding in the animal ark.]]
----
* CuteOwl: A floating owl head with tiny feet and tail feathers.
* ThisLooksLikeAJobForAquaman: Owlet is only really useful in levels with lots of trees, such as the forest players enter right after they obtain it.
* UtilityPartyMember: Owlet will go to trees and bring fruit to its player companion.

!! Pazzo
Pazzo is a dog animal orb. It can be bought in the Snow store.
----
* AnimalJingoism: At the party celebrating the wizard's defeat, Pazzo is seen chasing Meowburt around the room.
* CanineCompanion: Pazzo resembles a shiba inu.
* UtilityPartyMember: Pazzo shows its player companion where to dig for buried items, some of which are not marked by an X.

!! Piggy
A pig animal orb that can be bought at the Swamp Village Store.
----
* GluttonousPig: Piggy's ability is food-related.
* UtilityPartyMember: Piggy makes food eaten by its player companion heal more health points.

!! Rammy
A ram animal orb found in the Tall Grass Field level, accompanying the Bear Boss, who the player must defeat to obtain it.
----
* CombinationAttack: Rammy works well with fellow animal orb Hawkster, who can rush in to attack enemies after Rammy knocks them down.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Downplayed. While Rammy aids the Bear Boss, it is the latter character who has to be beaten for Rammy to join the player.
* FoeTossingCharge: If there are several enemies between Rammy and its target, it will knock ''all'' of them down.
* HeelFaceTurn: Originally an animal orb aiding the Bear Boss by knocking the players down. Once Rammy is obtained by the player, it will help knock down their enemies instead.
* {{Knockback}}: Rammy's attack will knock anyone in its way flat on their back.
* PunnyName: Rammy is a ram that ''rams'' into its enemies.
* SupportPartyMember: Rammy's attack knocks enemies down.

!! Scratch Paw
A tiger animal orb hidden behind a wall in the Sand Castle Interior level. A crack in the wall needs to be blown up with bombs in order to reach it.
----
* PantheraAwesome: Resembles a tiger.
* SupportPartyMember: Scratch Paw increases its player companion's strength and agility.

!! Seahorse
A seahorse animal orb located in the Thieves' Forest level, hanging around a river.
----
* SupportPartyMember: Seahorse allows its player companion to move faster than normal in water.
* ThisLooksLikeAJobForAquaman: The Seahorse is only useful on levels with water.

!! Sherbert
A cat animal orb hiding in the animal ark.
----
* HiddenInPlainSight: Sherbert is in the animal ark where the other animal orbs are stored, floating in the upper left corner of the screen, slightly behind the player's healthbar.
* ShoutOut: Sherbert's hiding place is one to the ceiling cat meme.
* SupportPartyMember: Sherbert allows its player companion to jump higher.
* UselessUsefulSpell: Jumping higher sounds good, but it makes it nearly impossible to start a chain of attacks in the air.

!! Snailburt
A snail animal orb that is found near the end of the Marsh level.
----
* StoneWall: Snailburt gives players a good boost in defense at the cost of some speed.
* SupportPartyMember: Snailburt gives the player a boost in defense and a decrease in speed.

!! Snoot
An elephant animal orb hidden behind a bomb-able wall in the Cyclops' Fortress level.
----
* SupportPartyMember: Snoot gives an increase in strength to its player companion.

----
* SupportPartyMember: Spiny gives its player companion a boost in defense.

!! Troll
A troll animal orb in the Theives Forest level in some ruins, which need to be bombed to have access to him.
----
* OurTrollsAreDifferent: Like the other trolls, it seems to be made of fur.
* RegeneratingHealth: Troll causes its player companion to slowly regenerate health.
* SupportPartyMember: Troll gives its player companion RegeneratingHealth.

* MeaningfulName: Dragonhead is a floating dragon head with stubby limbs and tail.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Its body is mostly its head, it has no wings, has ram-like horns, and breathes fire.
* PlayingWithFire: Dragonhead attacks by shooting fireballs at enemies.
* ShoulderSizedDragon: While a bit bigger than most examples, it's still fairly small, and could probably be carried around in the player character's arms.
* StatusEffects: Dragonhead's fireballs can inflict the "burn" status effect on enemies.

!! Golden whale
A golden whale animal orb. To get it, players must buy the "Can't stop crying" DLC (Xbox 360/[=PS3=]) or own ''VideoGame/BattleBlockTheater'' on steam(PC).
----
* AwesomeYetImpractical: It's the only thing in the game that will create money with no effort on the player's part, but the money is a measly 1 gold per thirty seconds. A much quicker way to make money is to repeatedly fight the barbarian boss for the reward money.
* ShoutOut: To the golden whale from ''VideoGame/BattleBlockTheater''.
* SolidGoldPoop: One of the interpretations on where exactly the gold comes from.
* UtilityPartyMember: Generates one piece of gold every 30 seconds.
