[[caption-width-right:300:The Knights of Favonius' Insignia]]
The '''Knights of Favonius''', also known as "Ordo Favonius," is a military order tasked with defending Mondstadt from threats within and without. Originating from a rebellion a thousand years ago led by Vennessa, with the help of the Anemo Archon Barbatos, against the iron-fisted aristocracy of the Lawrence Clan, the Knights follow his vision of Mondstadt as a land of freedom. Nominally, the Knights are led by the Grand Master Varka, who is currently in a grand expedition with a majority of the Knights' forces, leaving the governance of Mondstadt proper to his right-hand woman, Jean Gunnhildr, and a skeleton staff. Under them are ten Captains, as well as various personnel assigned to specific jobs and city guards.\

[[foldercontrol]]
----
[[folder:General Tropes]]
* BadassArmy: Even compared to the standards of their role as defenders and fighters for Mondstadt, a good number of their full-time members, and even simple trainees (such as Noelle) possess a Vision.
* DubNameChange: Originally known as the "Knights of Zephyros," which continues to be used in the Japanese dub. "Zephyros" and "Favonius" both refer to the West Wind in, respectively, Greek and Latin.
* TheGhost: Out of the ten Captains, only ''four'' have been revealed as of writing (v4.5), with nary a mention of the other six. It's likely that a majority have joined Varka's expedition, although who joined him who has stayed has yet to be made explicit.
* KnightInShiningArmor: In spite of how Diluc sees them, they've thus far been portrayed as the most competent and least corrupt of the governmental forces introduced thus far, and are the only faction the Traveler never fights.
* NationalWeapon: The Favonius Sword is a standard-issue longsword wielded by the Knights, in addition to other Favonius-series weapons.
* NoHistoricalFiguresWereHarmed: Given Mondstadt's German cultural aesthetic, the Knights of Favonius are likely based on UsefulNotes/TheTeutonicKnights, a military society which at the height of its power ruled swaths of land from northern Germany to Estonia. Its affiliation with the Church of Favonius also alludes to its roots as a Roman Catholic religious society originally founded to protect pilgrims to the Holy Land and whose current incarnation is a charitable organization.
* PoliceAreUseless: ZigZagged in regards to their competence.
** Diluc passionately believes the Knights to be largely incompetent, partly justifying his vigilantism. To some extent, he is right, given that the Knights as an institution can at times be shockingly oblivious as to what's going on in or around the City, missing or arriving late to such emergencies as Abyss Order incursions, [[spoiler:the theft of the Holy Lyre der Himmel, and openly attacking Venti outside Favonius Cathedral]]. Possibly {{justified|trope}} by the fact that all the players see of the Knights for much of the story is but a skeleton staff led by Jean, as Varka took majority of the Knights' manpower, including elite forces, on an expedition half a year ago, [[WorfHadTheFlu meaning they currently lack staff and left mostly with the rank-and-file]].
** The "Unreconciled Stars" event casts them in a more capable light, which shows the Knights doing everything they can to minimize damage and keep order, to the point of disobeying direct orders in favor of protecting the people. Said actions include refusing to return to the City to protect any innocents who are still out in the wild, continuing their patrols to ensure that hilichurls and Treasure Hoarders don't take advantage of the chaos, etc.
* StarterMon: Amber, Kaeya, and Lisa--respectively the Cavalry Captain, Outrider, and Librarian of the Knights--are the first three characters receive at the start of the game. In addition, they respectively fill the FireIceLightning dynamic, as well as the FighterMageThief dynamic (respectively filled by Kaeya, Lisa, and Amber.

'''Constellation:''' Leo Minor, the Lion Cub\

Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius and current title holder of "Dandelion Knight," one of the Four Winds. Beautiful, charismatic, and with a keen sense of duty towards her homeland, she is well-liked among her peers, even as she struggles with the multifaceted nature of her work. Sharing a common goal in ending the "Stormterror" incident that has been recently plaguing the city, she becomes one of the most important allies in the Traveler's adventure in Mondstadt.\
\
Jean displays her leadership skills through her balance between offense, support, and healing, with the charged form of her Normal Attack style, ''Favonius Bladework'', having the unique ability to lift her enemies skyward with a slow descent. Her Elemental Skill, ''Gale Blade'', is a windy thrust which, in its charged form, can suck in enemies and allows her to manually control her trajectory, while her Elemental Burst, ''Dandelion Breeze'', blasts foes with strong winds and generates the Dandelion Field which periodically heals allies within its radius as well as deals damage enemies whenever they enter and exit its radius.[[note]]When fully upgraded, her normal attacks can now randomly heal the party, as well as boost their movement and attacking speed whenever she picks up Elemental Orbs or Particles; her Burst can now automatically restore some Energy; and the Dandelion Field gains an Anemo Resistance debuff on enemies and a damage reduction buff on allies, both of which will linger even after they leave its radius.[[/note]]
----
* TheAce: For being heavily groomed as the scion to the Gunnhildr Clan, she has it all—she is among the most powerful fighters in Mondstadt, she can be relied on to solve almost any problems, and everyone adores and respects her.
* AloofBigSister: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. While she expresses concern for Barbara according to voice-overs, Jean's backstory reveals that she has difficulty getting close to her sister, who [[SolomonDivorce grew up with their father Seamus after their parents separated]]. Despite her admiration for Jean and her bubbly disposition, Barbara feels the same awkwardness. Part of the "Midsummer Island Adventure Event" involves the sisters bonding.
* AnimalMotifs: [[KingOfBeasts Lions]]. Her titles include "Dandelion Knight" and "Lion of the South," and her Constellation shows a lion.
* AreaOfEffect: Her Burst blows away surrounding enemies and creates the Dandelion Field, a billowing circle of wind and dandelions around her which for ten seconds heals allies every second and imbues them with Anemo, as well as damages enemies whenever they go in and out.[[note]]With damage multipliers of 424.8–956% for the initial burst and 78.4–176% when entering or exiting the radius, as well as healing worth (251.2–565.2% Max HP)+(1540–4544) for the initial burst and 10% of that for subsequent ones[[/note]] Her fourth and sixth Constellation upgrades respectively add a DamageIncreasingDebuff against enemies and a DamageReduction buff on allies within its radius (see below).
* BeleagueredBoss: Between [[BunnyEarsLawyer Amber]], [[BrilliantButLazy Lisa]], [[TheGadfly Kaeya]], [[PersonOfMassDestruction Klee]], [[ExtremeDoormat Noelle]], and [[HeroWithBadPublicity Eula]], Jean has much on her plate, not to mention the problems that come form most of the rank-and-file, who aren't exactly the cream of the crop. The only Knights she doesn't need to worry about are Albedo, Sucrose, and Mika. Her Story Quest has the Traveler help her out with tasks so she can take a much-needed break.
* BilingualBonus: The name "dandelion" is a corruption of ''dent de lion'', meaning "lion's tooth", because their leaves very vaguely look like sharp teeth. It's why Jean has a double motif of dandelions and lions.
* BoringButPractical: Compared to many other 5★ units, and even among Anemo Vision holders, Jean's kit forgoes pure damage-dealing in favor of balance between offense and healing. However, said simplicity makes her a reliable party member. The most unusual thing in her arsenal is her ability to hold enemies in place with her charged attack and Skill, and her ability to get a team through just about any situation can be invaluable.
* TheChainsOfCommanding: {{Downplayed|Trope}}; being appointed as Acting Grand Master ([[BeleagueredBoss with all the responsibilities of one]], as pointed out by [[{{Seers}} Mona]]) at a relatively young age does cause Jean some stress, though she ultimately doesn't complain about it and, at its worst, she is forced to take a day off.
* CharacterCatchphrase: She occasionally declares "I swear by my sword..." (or some variation of it) in some of her lines.
* ChefOfIron: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. Her utility passive, ''Guiding Breeze'', gives her a 12% chance to cook HP-restoring dishes twice.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: Jean does not hesitate to help someone if it is for the right reasons, and she also expects her fellow Knights to do the same. Only [[ExtremeDoormat Noelle]] outmatches her in this regard.
-->"The chance to help someone in need is reason enough for a knight."
* CombatMedic: Jean is a close-range fighter who wields a sword, but she is also a decent healer (helped with her Ascension stat of Healing Bonus percentage [5.5–22%]); her Burst summons an AreaOfEffect that simultaneously heals allies and damages enemies inside; and her first-ascension passive, ''Wind Companion'', grants her Normal Attack a 50% chance to heal the party. Both healing abilities scale off of her Attack stat (15% for the latter, while that for the former depends on Talent levels), so making her hit as hard as she can will help her healing.
* ConsummateProfessional: {{Downplayed|Trope}}; though she shows to be warm-hearted from time to time, and is capable of relaxing when off the clock, Jean always handles herself with professionalism and expects her fellow Knights to do the same.
* CorrallingVacuum: The charged version of her Skill pulls enemies towards her before she flings them back; this stance can last up to five seconds in exchange for consuming 20 Stamina per second (hence a maximum of 100).[[note]]With a 292–657% damage multiplier regardless of form[[/note]] Her first Constellation upgrade, ''Spiraling Tempest'', increases its damage output by 40%, as well as pulling speed after at least one second of being held.
* CrazyPrepared: Her official character description states that she took precautions to protect the city even before the corrupted Dvalin attacked Mondstadt.
* CulturedBadass: For the Gunnhildr Clan to prepare her as their successor, they trained Jean in the ways of a knight, ranging from disciple, etiquette, conduct, knowledge of history, ballads, to peak swordsmanship and physical fitness.
* CycleOfHurting: She is capable of inflicting this on small- to mid-sized enemies by using the held form of her Skill to toss foes straight up, [[NotTheFallThatKillsYou damaging them when they land]], then using her charged attack before they recover to suspend them in the air long enough for the Skill's cooldown to end. Rinse and repeat until her enemies are defeated or she runs out of stamina.
* DamageIncreasingDebuff: Her fourth Constellation upgrade, ''Lands of Dandelion'', allows the Dandelion Field to inflict a 40% Anemo Resistance penalty on enemies within its radius.
* DamageReduction: Her sixth Constellation upgrade, ''Lion's Fang, Fair Protector of Mondstadt'', gives the Dandelion Field a 35% damage reduction buff for allies within its radius, which lasts until the active character takes three hits (represented by three dandelions orbiting them).
* ElementalPersonalities: The Acting Grand Master possesses an [[BlowYouAway Anemo]] Vision, and is sometimes unable to stay in one place due to her {{Workaholic}} nature, but is still a sociable NiceGirl.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: Ellin seems to have it bad for Jean, often talking about training to be as strong as Jean in most of her dialogue, has Jean as an ImaginaryFriend during Venti's Story Quest (even though she should've grown past the imaginary friends stage a long time ago), and asks the Traveler on advice about whether she should anonymously give Jean a written love poem and dandelion bouquet for the Windblume Festival.
* EveryoneHasStandards: {{Workaholic}} and [[ChronicHeroSyndrome willing to help the folk]] as she may be, Jean isn't a fan of Noelle taking these traits [[ExaggeratedTrope up a notch]]; given the young maid's tendency for helping just about anyone even when exhausted, as well as her [[WellTrainedButInexperienced lack of real combat experience]] compared to her fellow Knights, Jean has a point.
-->''(About Noelle) "[...] She puts enormous effort into trying to become a Knight of Favonius. However, I fear she is not quite ready for the dangers that lie beyond Mondstadt's walls."''
* ExcellentJudgeOfCharacter: She accepted Eula into the Knights despite her family's awful reputation, and didn't back down when most citizens protested. As a whole, Jean's trust is rarely misplaced, given Eula's own discomfort with her family's history.
* FactionMotto: The Gunnhildr Clan has the family motto of "For Mondstadt, as always."
* FlowerMotifs: The dandelion, one of the national flowers of Mondstadt. One idle animation has her blow away a seedhead, features them in both her charged attack and Burst, uses the title of "Dandelion Knight," and dandelion seeds are among her level ascension materials.
* GoodCounterpart: To Azar, the Grand Sage of the Akademiya. Both are figures of authority who are also [[spoiler:caretakers of little girls; their key difference is that, despite her occasional strictness, Jean ultimately is a good mother figure for Klee, while Azar shunned and imprisoned Nahida]].
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Jean is a blonde young woman who serves as an exemplar figure among the Knights of Favonius, who acts in the name of Mondstadt's wellbeing, and is a {{chronic hero|Syndrome}} who will [[NiceGirl help people no matter what it may be]].
* HealingWinds: Her Burst creates a field of wind that can heal allies and damage enemies.
* HeroWorshipper: Jean looks up to Vennessa, the original Dandelion Knight and founder of the Knights. According to both her Story Quest and fourth Character Story, whenever she finds herself lost or weary, she prays underneath the Symbol of Mondstadt's Hero, the great tree in Windrise where legend claims Vennessa ascended to godhood for her feats. It's probably why her constellation is Leo Minor, the Lion Cub, since she works so hard on fulfilling the duties of her inherited title by becoming more like her hero.
* HiddenDepths: Her Character Story mentions that she loves reading romance novels, and one of her Serenitea Pot lines talks about how she's a capable singer.
* {{Humble Hero}}ine: {{Reconstruct|ion}}ed. A good amount of her voice-overs show that Jean struggles a bit to keep her proper image and not be self-indulgent (such as feeling selfish for protecting the Traveler not as Acting Grand Master but as herself), but ultimately she is always shown to be selfless.
* ImaginaryFriend: For Ellin, who often imagines her personally training her to motivate herself.
* InternalHomage: Like many of the Mondstadt cast, [[https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/gensin-impact/images/d/d3/Party_Setup_Jean.gif/revision/latest?cb=20230816094142 her unique Party Setup animation is a reference to her portrait]].
* JackOfAllStats: Like Noelle, Jean is a very versatile character who can fill multiple roles simultaneously as a source of crowd control and a healer thanks to her talents, and has high and balanced enough stats to back it up.
* JigglePhysics: Jean's breasts are prone to bouncing a bit during some of her animations. This was most apparent during all the buffeting winds in the charged form of her Skill, which was toned down in later updates.
* KingOfBeasts: Has a [[AnimalMotifs lion motif]] represented by her Constellation, as well as one of her titles, "Lion of the South." Following her appointment as Acting Grand Master, she's also technically TheLeader of the skeleton staff in Mondstadt.
* LadyOfWar: As befits a female knight, Jean is calm and level-headed, and skilled with her sword.
* LauncherMove: The charged form of her Normal Attack, ''Favonius Bladework'', is an upward thrust that launches small-to-mid-sized foes midair so long as they are no more than twenty levels over her. Imbued with Anemo, [[NoGravityForYou it defies gravity]] as the target falls in slow motion instead of crashing straight down.[[note]]With damage multipliers of 59.88–127.89% (average) for the 5-hit combo form, 162.02–346.19% for the charged form, and standard values for the plunging form[[/note]]
* TheLeader: For the skeleton staff in Mondstadt, and checking Types II (level-headed), III (headstrong), and IV (charismatic). Jean is experienced, determined, brave, carries the team's responsibility, is driven by her duty to protect the city, is [[UniversallyBelovedLeader well-loved by the people in Mondstadt]] (even Diluc), and respected by the rest of the Knights to the point that even their "less active" members like [[BrilliantButLazy Lisa]] are [[MagneticHero inspired by her]].
* LegFocus: Her PaintedOnPants are often in full display in her scenes.
* LegacyCharacter: Her title of "Dandelion Knight" is given to distinguished Knights, first held by Vennessa.
* MeaningfulName: "Jean" is derived from "Yochanan" (יוֹחָנָן, "God is gracious" in Hebrew). Jean is a graceful young woman and a devout worshiper of Barbatos, to the point that [[spoiler:she is friends with his current identity, Venti]].
* MsFanservice: [[PlayingWithATrope While modestly clad by this trope's standards]], Jean is still an attractive young woman who wears PaintedOnPants that [[LegFocus show off her legs]], as well as a low-cut top that gives a nice shot of her cleavage. Her breasts are also prone to bouncing a bit during a few animations, to the point that they had to be toned down in later updates. Her summer outfit, though lacking the cleavage, bares her legs. Her default outfit is so revealing she is one of the first characters given an alternate, more formal outfit to comply with Chinese censorship laws, and even then it is still [[FormFittingWardrobe tight-fitting]] despite the redesigned blouse completely covering her chest.
* NiceGirl: Though she usually shows a highly professional demeanor, Jean is a friendly, selfless woman who is generally pleasant even while on the job. Her excellent reputation in Mondstadt isn't just for show, given she will help people [[ChronicHeroSyndrome no matter the reason]].
* NoGravityForYou: Her charged attack is an upward thrust with the unique property of keeping an enemy temporarily suspended in midair.
* NotTheFallThatKillsYou: Using the charged form of her Skill to fire enemies straight up can deal decent damage once they hit the ground, even on a level surface. With some patience entire groups of enemies can be defeated just by repeatedly shooting them into the air.
* NumberTwo: She is a loyal follower of Varka, the Knight of Boreas and Grand Master of the Knights; as the latter is currently away on an expedition with a vast majority of the Knights' manpower, Jean has been appointed interim leader over the remaining Knights.
* OpenSecret: Following the Mondstadt Archon Quest, Jean's official report skips over many details regarding [[spoiler:Dvalin's affliction]] so the people can rest easy without the knowledge that [[spoiler:the dragon that terrorized them was one of their guardian deities]]. However, everyone in the Knights, as well as associates like Diluc (himself a former captain), knows the truth of the matter.
* PaintedOnPants: She's one of the few females who wear pants instead of shorts or bloomers, but they really look more like leggings than anything else, and the game lampshades this by occasionally giving Traveler the option to call her "Dandelion Tights."
* PalsWithJesus: Jean invokes the name of Barbatos when using her Elemental Talents, but she also happens to be [[spoiler:on a first-name basis with his mortal guise, Venti, and had traveled with him for some time during the second half of the Mondstadt Archon Quest]].
* ParentalSubstitute: She treats Klee as her own daughter (and it's not hard to read her relationship to Klee as an overworked mother who has little capacity to oversee such an inventive, bold kid). Klee's sentences to "solitary confinement"[[note]]"reflection room" in the Chinese and Japanese localizations[[/note]] turn out to be little more than groundings. This is lampshaded during the "Midsummer Island Adventure" event.
-->'''Paimon:''' "If Paimon didn't know better, Paimon would think that Jean was Klee's mother!"\
'''Kaeya:''' "You know, I had the exact same thought just now."
* PerpetualSmiler: Her default idle expression is a light, warm smile.
* {{Pun}}:
** Her titles "Lionfang Knight" and "Dandelion Knight" basically mean the same thing; the word "dandelion" is derived from ''dent de leon'' ("lion's tooth" in French).
** "Lionfang" and "Dandelion" can be translated as "Löwenzahn" in German, which merged both the "Dandelion Knight" and "Lionfang Knight" titles; at the end of her Story Quest you have the option to call her either, while in the German localization, you have the choice to call her "gentle" or "fierce" instead.
* PunchedAcrossTheRoom: Her Skill shoves her targets away, and in its charged form she can send smaller enemies up in the air for a few seconds.
* RankScalesWithAsskicking: Being a capable leader who can still throw down with the best is the practice for the second-in-command among the Knights, who has spent her entire life studying and training especially for this.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Despite having to account for political tension from within and without, Jean is willing to take direct action when needed and approves of doing whatever is necessary to protect the City and its people, including going with the Traveler (a newly-arrived outsider) and Diluc (a former Captain who resigned years ago in outrage over an incident of corruption) to the decisive battle with Stormterror.
* RedBaron: Jean is famously known by titles such as the Dandelion Knight, the Lionfang Knight, and, as one of Mondstadt's Four Winds, the Lion of the South.
* RegeneratingMana: Her fourth-ascension passive, ''Let the Wind Lead'', automatically regenerates 20% Energy after using her Burst (i.e., 16 points).
* TheReliableOne: Her second Character Story says that people rely on her to solve their problems, however unrelated it is from a Knight's matters, to the point where "Jean is so reliable" is a common saying.
* SameSurnameMeansRelated: Averted—she uses that of her mother Frederica, while her younger sister Barbara uses that of their father, Seamus Pegg.
* ScheduleFanatic: Her Character Stories mentions a schedule list that she makes for her daily work, detailed down to the minute.
* SickEpisode: Her Story Quest starts with her collapsing from exhaustion just before she accepts a list of commissions from the Traveler.
* SlidingScaleOfGameplayAndStoryIntegration: Her level ascension materials include dandelion seeds, befitting her floral motif, while those used for her Talents include those from Dvalin/Stormterror, who she helped pacify at the climax of the Mondstadt Archon Quest.
* SprintShoes: Her second Constellation upgrade, ''People's Aegis'', increases the party's movement and attacking speed by 15% for fifteen seconds whenever she picks up Elemental Particles or Orbs.
* StabTheSky: Whereas most Sword units perform a quick double-slash for their charged attacks, Jean's is an upward stab that launches her foes in midair.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Jean and Barbara have similar blue eyes and blonde hair, though Barbara's hair is of a lighter shade.
* SurpriseParty: Near the end of her Story Quest, Jean is summoned to an emergency at Angel's Share... which turns out to be a thank-you party held by the Knights, including Barbara, Venti, and Diluc.
* SwitchOutMove: In Genius Invokation TCG, her Skill forcibly switches the target character to the next unit.
* SwordPlant: During her Story Quest, she kneels and holds her sword in this manner when she visits the Symbol of Mondstadt's Hero.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Pizza—her "Favorite Food" voice-line has Jean reminisce the last time she ate pizza from Cat's Tail, and a variant of the Mushroom Pizza item is her specialty dish.
* UniversallyBelovedLeader: Everyone in Mondstadt has nothing but utmost respect for Jean for her tireless efforts to keep the nation safe. Even Diluc, who normally treats the Knights with disdain, respects her. At the end of her Story Quest, she is thrown a party in Angel's Share to show how much they appreciate her.
* UpgradeArtifact: A variant--her third and fifth Constellation upgrades, ''When the West Wind Arises'' and ''Outbursting Gust'', add three levels to, respectively, her Burst and Skill.
* WeaponSpecialization:
** In both cutscenes and promotional art, Jean wields the Favonius Sword (4★). Apart from befitting her position of leadership, combat-wise it is a decent weapon for her kit, with its Ascension substat of Energy Recharge (13.3–61.3%) and its "Windfall" passive, which gives critical hits a 60–100% chance to generate Elemental Particles that regenerate 6 Energy, triggered at least every twelve seconds, allowing her to quickly trigger her Burst.
** Jean is also partially associated with the Skyward Blade (5★), which she uses as a Trial character in her Story Quest and is one of the earliest weapons introduced in the game. Its Ascension substat is Energy Recharge (12–55.1%), and its "Sky-piercing Fang" passive increases its wielder's Critical Rate by 4–8% as well as bestows the "Skypiercing Might" state for twelve seconds whenever they trigger their Burst, which increases their movement and attacking speed by 10% each, as well as allows the combo and charged forms of their Normal Attack to deal extra damage equivalent to 20–40% of their Attack stat. Apart from accelerating the charging rate of her Burst, it also further enhances both her damaging and healing potencies while said Burst is active.
* {{Workaholic}}:
** Jean is steadfast about keeping Mondstadt safe at the cost of her personal wellbeing—according to Lisa, Varka being demanding towards her and not acknowledging her accomplishments once likely contributed to such a mindset, which is {{justified|Trope}} given her lofty position, though the grind finally cuahgt up to her in her Story Quest, where she collapses from exhaustion and is forced to take a day off.
** This is also reflected in her playable voice-overs—her idle lines have Jean urge the party to get a move on, and in her "Troubles" line she wonders if Lisa could make her a potion that could keep Jean awake for longer. [[DownplayedTrope However]], at high levels of Friendship, she will admit that short breaks are necessary and offers to rest for a moment.

[[folder:Varka]]
!!Varka
!!!'''Voiced by:''' ???
The Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius, he left on an expedition with the city's elite forces, leaving Jean as the Acting Grand Master in his absence, half a year before the Traveler arrives in Mondstadt.
----
* TheBigGuy: Razor describes him as someone who is "big" (roughly about Itto's height).
* BoisterousBruiser: Even with [[NervousWreck Mika]] reading Varka's letter, this aspect of Varka's personality is made apparent when he boasts that he's the only Knight that could take on Il Capitano and [[WrittenSoundEffect laughs]].
* DidntThinkThisThrough: While Varka may not be inherently idiotic, perhaps taking most of the Knights of Favonius on an expedition with him and leaving Jean both undermanned and overworked to defend an entire nation probably wasn't the smartest idea, especially given the recent events that have happened there.
* FormerTeenRebel: According to Kaeya, Varka "brought quite a bit of trouble to those around him" before he developed the universally positive reputation he has now. {{Downplayed|Trope}} because while he's a good mentor, he has a habit of neglecting his duties.
* TheGhost: He has not physically appeared in the game since he has already left on an expedition somewhere else.
* MasterSwordsman: Is implied to be one from Eula's account. According to the considerably-skilled Spindrift Knight, she had a sparring match with Varka during which she was completely unable to give him a challenge let alone beat him, while Varka was clearly holding back on her.
* TheMentor: Certain clues from Razor's voice lines and character stories say that Varka gave Razor a name and taught him how to wield a claymore.
* ParentalSubstitute: From the stories and voice overs of Razor and Rosaria (as well as the censored skin released in patch 2.5 of the latter), Varka appears to act and be seen as a father figure to both of them.
* RedBaron: As described on Jean's character stories, Varka is also known as the "Knight of Boreas".
* UniversallyBelovedLeader: The people of Mondstadt practically ''venerate'' Varka, painting him as some sort of mythical hero whenever there is talk about him.

Captain of the Investigation Team and leading alchemist of the Knights, who looks for the "truth of the world".\
\
Albedo puts his alchemic knowledge to practice by creating a hostile environment with rapid, relentless bursts of Geo energy. His Elemental Skill, ''Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma'', creates the eponymous, flower-shaped Geo construct that damages surrounding foes and creates a force field that kindles Transient Blooms that deal Geo damage in tandem with the party's Normal Attacks within its radius, as well as serves as a floating platform for allies to launch plunging attacks from. His Elemental Burst, ''Rite of Progeniture: Tectonic Tide'', is a burst of crystals over a wide area, which can also unleash seven bursts of Fatal Blossoms that deal additional damage should it be unleashed within the Solar Isotoma's field.[[note]]When fully upgraded, the Solar Isotoma can now confer a damage boost to the party's plunging attacks or whenever they are protected with Shields, and Transient Blossoms can now deal more damage against foes with less than half their HP, restore some of Albedo's Energy, and gather him up to four stacks of Fatal Reckoning which are consumed to boost the overall damage of his Burst, which in turn can now boost the party's Elemental Mastery.[[/note]]
----
* AchillesHeel: Surfaces that prevent him from placing a Solar Isotoma (such as the arena of the Oceanid fight[[note]]The Solar Isotoma can actually be placed on the nearby underwater structures, just not on the actual arena itself, likely because the arena ground is not considered "stable"[[/note]]) or tough enemies that can easily destroy the Solar Isotoma severely limit his capabilities.
* AmbiguousSituation: [[spoiler:The end of the "Shadows Amidst Snowstorms" event is deliberately ambiguous as to which Albedo won their fight, or if both are still alive.]]
* AnimeHair: His hairstyle is quite odd.
* AreaOfEffect: His Skill creates a field which for half a minute augments the party's attacks with Transient Blossoms (with at least 2-second intervals) that deal Geo damage that scale off of Albedo's Defense stat, in addition to the Solar Isotoma turning into an improvised floating platform should the active character step on it. If he unleashes his Burst within, the field will also trigger seven bursts of Fatal Blossoms that deal additional wide-ranging Geo damage.[[note]]With damage multipliers of 130.4–293.4% for the initial strike and 133.6–300.6% DEF per Transient Blossom[[/note]] His fourth Constellation upgrade, ''Descent of Divinity'', adds a 30% damage boost to the party's plunging attacks, hence incentivizing players to make good use of the improvised platform, and his sixth, ''Dust of Purification'', adds a 17% boost to the party's damage output whenever they are protected by Shields.
* ArtInitiatesLife: He can bring anything he paints to life with alchemy.
* ArtificialHuman: [[spoiler:At the end of the first "Shadows Amidst Snowstorms" event story, he reveals to the Traveler and Paimon that he is a homunculus created by Rhinedottir, a master alchemist and the notorious "Gold" of lore, tasked with defeating all of her faulty creations.]]
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: He's not the Captain of the Investigation Team for nothing, as he demonstrates during the "Hues of the Violet Garden" event:
** When Venti is suspected of stealing a book shipment, Albedo not only locates his invitation letter just by listening to his activities while aboard the ship he stowed away on, he then uses his testimony to deduce a few things about the theft, despite the latter not hearing anything overtly suspicious.
** When he first meets Xingqiu, he realizes that the latter was lying about having just arrived in Inazuma due to a number of holes in his cover story.
** Albedo is the one to point out the possible hidden meaning behind the cryptic statements of Kazuha's ancestor, which eventually leads to the truth about the downfall of the Kaedehara Clan.
* BadassBookworm: He's the top alchemist in Mondstadt and can hold his own in a fight.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: He's a soft-spoken, pleasant person to be around, but the "Chalk Prince and the Dragon" event shows that he can be [[TranquilFury icy when mad]].
* BigBrotherInstinct: The "Midsummer Island" event illustrates it quite nicely, as Albedo immediately sets off to the Golden Apple Archipelago when he receives a letter where "Dodo-King" claims to have Klee.
* BirdsOfAFeather: Albedo at least sees the Traveler as one, being both non-native Teyvatians.
* BizarreTasteInFood: He thinks huge tree spiders are tasty and knows the right ingredients to cook them with.
* CoolBigBro: While he and Klee are not biologically related, Klee's mother Alice took him in, and he grew to see himself as an older-brother figure to Klee. This is part of the reason Klee respects him.
* CreatingLife: His style of alchemy allows him to breathe life into paintings and revitalize dead plants into sprouting new foliage. Portrayed in one of his idle animations where he catches a dry twig in midair and makes it bloom green again, only for it to disintegrate back into dust when he lets it go.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Two events are centered around him. The first, "The Chalk Prince and the Dragon" (v1.2), serves as an introduction to Albedo (as well as Dragonspine), while the second, "Shadows Amidst Snowstorms" (v2.3), delves further into his origins.
* DeadpanSnarker: Albedo is more than capable of some snarky retorts, able to keep up with Kaeya in SnarkToSnarkCombat. Bonus points for [[TheStoic his voice tone]] enabling textbook monotone delivery.
-->''(About Xingqiu) [...] "The Yae Publishing House in Inazuma has been asking that I cooperate with a different author for greater royalties. '''Hmph, do I seem the type to be swayed by a few extra Mora?'''"''
* DistinguishingMark: He has a gold four-pointed star on the base of his neck. [[spoiler:It's what differentiates him from [[CriminalDoppelganger Subject 2]], which does not have it throughout the "Shadows Amidst Snowstorms" event. He likens the star to a pontil mark made by his creator that displays his artificial origins, and suggests that Subject 2 did not have it in order to become a "perfect human". However, he demonstrates the ability to remove it at will at the end of the event, and coupled with his seemingly OutOfCharacter behavior at that time makes it uncertain whether the Albedo the Traveler was talking to truly was "Subject 1" Albedo.]]
* DoNotCallMeSir: In one of his lines, he expresses how Sucrose tends to address him excessively formally when he is not much older than her; he insists for her to just call him "Albedo", but he eventually let it slide as he feels it has become Sucrose's habit.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: Prior to Hu Tao, who set the tradition of Wish banners for limited-time 5★ characters running alongside those of 5★ weapons tailored to their fighting styles, Albedo stands out as to date the only such unit without such a paired weapon.[[note]]Venti and Tartaglia would later get theirs; Klee, Xiao, and Ganyu would settle with having theirs from the Standard Banner; and Zhongli would settle with having the aesthetically matching Vortex Vanquisher (a 5★ weapon belonging to the "Liyue" weapon series) as his signature weapon[[/note]]
* ElementalPersonalities: A calm and [[TheStoic stoic]] [[DishingOutDirt Geo]] Vision owner.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: His eye lights and circles resemble the pattern of an alchemist's bench, hinting at his [[spoiler:artificial nature.]]
* FlowerMotif: Golden crystalline flowers.
* {{Foil}}: With his little sister figure, Klee. Both are OlderThanTheyLook with marks that signify their non-human heritage (i.e., Albedo has a star mark on his neck, while Klee has PointyEars), and their powers manifest as [[HavingABlast explosions]]. At the same time, Klee is childish, carefree, and wears bright red clothes, while Albedo is more mature and wears a more subdued white-and-black clothes.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: As early as the "Chalk Prince and the Dragon" event, Albedo is said to not be a regular human, and there are hints scattered as to his true nature.
** Albedo claims he is born of "chalk," in contrast to the other humans of Teyvat who are born of "soil," and that while his teacher Rhinedottir was not his mother, he nevertheless feels that he owes his existence to her. [[spoiler:Come the "Shadows Amidst Snowstorms" event, he is revealed to be a homunculus created by Rhinedottir/"Gold."]]
** At the end of the event, after absorbing the life force of the Festering Desire, a cursed sword extracted from the dark dragon Durin, he claims its energy resonates with his "fundamental nature." [[spoiler:Durin, like Albedo, was another creation of Rhinedottir.]]
** After they part ways, Albedo muses that the Traveler might be the one to stop him in case he loses control of himself. [[spoiler:Considering what happened to his fellow homunculi, Durin and the Fell Flower, his apprehensions are not unjustified.]]
** Albedo's character trailer, as well as the flavor text of the Cinnabar Spindle, the freebie sword of the "Shadows Amidst Snowstorms" event, imply that [[spoiler:there are two Albedos. Come the latter event, the seemingly antagonistic "Albedo" is revealed to be a Fell Flower, a mutant Cryo Whopperflower that has gained the ability to take a human guise, while Albedo, whose likeness it took, was tasked with hunting down all of Rhinedottir's faulty creations. The end of the event reveals there was a ''third'' Albedo who created the whopperflower in the first place]].
** A subtle case happens as early as Albedo's Character Demo. Compared to the character demos that came before it, it uses primarily, if not exclusively, electronic instruments for the soundtrack, and one of the transitions utilises visual glitching, [[spoiler:both hinting at Albedo's artificial nature]].
* FreezeFrameBonus: From [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3U51KyZLxE Albedo's Character Demo]] video:
** There are rapidly flashing scenes that show animals looking at the camera as it zooms in on them. It starts around 1:07 when Albedo shouts "Moment of birth!"
** Around 1:40, there is an image of Albedo that only appears for a split-second. It shows the phrase "From Soil Was Birthed Chalk" in the center.
* GatheringSteam: His second Constellation upgrade, ''Opening of Phanerozoic'', generates up to four stacks of Fatal Reckoning whenever Transient Blossoms are triggered, which are then consumed whenever he triggers his Burst to enhance the potency of both the main damage and Fatal Blossoms (equivalent to 30% of his Defense apiece, to a maximum of 120%).
* GemstoneAssault: His Burst summons an array of large crystals around him that damage surrounding enemies, with additional shockwaves generated when cast within the field of the Solar Isotoma.[[note]]With damage multipliers of 367.2–826% for the initial strike and 72–162% per Fatal Blossom[[/note]]
* GeniusSweetTooth: His favorite food is desserts. Like Sucrose, he feels that sweets give him a much-needed boost for both physical and mental fatigue.
* GentlemanAndAScholar: His Character Story mentions that he does not have the eccentricity and odd temper that academics tend to have. While he does tend to keep his distance from people, it nevertheless does not make him a cold-hearted person.
* GratuitousGerman: His title is "Kreideprinz," German for "chalk prince."
* HappilyAdopted: Alice, Klee's mother, took him in when he first arrived in Mondstadt and raised him alongside her daughter. At present he's fond of his family, serving as a CoolBigBro to Klee and referring to Alice as [[HonoraryAunt aunt]].
* HatesSmallTalk: He explicitly avoids most social interactions and does little to hide his boredom when Cyrus attempts to talk with him about adventuring in Dragonspine. [[spoiler:Interestingly, he seems to enjoy several people conversing around him in "Shadows Amidst Snowstorms," smiling when people complimented his food.]]
* HavingABlast: His [[DishingOutDirt Geo]] powers manifest in the form of exploding crystals.
* HumbleHero: He claims that people tend to call him a "genius," but he does not see himself as one.
-->''(About Albedo; Genius) "'Genius?' ...a number of people call me that. But, I don't think I'm any 'genius'."''
* InstantExpert: According to his "Ballad of Breezes" quote, he can learn how to play lyre music near-perfectly just by hearing it for the first time.
* InterfaceSpoiler: It's made explicit as early as his Story Quest that Albedo is NotQuiteHuman, but his precise nature is not established until much later. That said, he is one of only three characters to have ever not visibly breathed in Dragonspine[[note]]The others being the Raiden Shogun and the Wanderer; Albedo was later changed to visibly breathe in v1.3[[/note]], and the name of Albedo's fourth-ascension passive can give the game away early.
* LovedByAll: Albedo is immensely popular around Mondstadt. Even Klee listens to him, and Diluc, who otherwise disparages the Knights, trusts him with matters relating to Ley Line abnormalities. Only Rosaria is wary of him due to his "outlander" status, and Venti is worried that he might potentially be a MadScientist.
* MadScientist: {{Discussed|Trope}} by a few people like Dainsleif and Venti, who worry about his [[ScaleOfScientificSins particular]] [[CreatingLifeIsBad field]] of alchemy.
-->'''Venti''': "It's an [[LostTechnology ancient power with unmistakable properties.]] Trying to harness it is dangerous indeed, I can't imagine what would happen if someone lost control of it in the city..."
* MasterApprenticeChain: Before he became mentor to Sucrose and Timaeus, he used to study alchemy under Rhinedottir. His first Character Story has him showing his teachings in front of the people of Mondstadt; a later entry shows his teacher teaching him in an equivalent way. In the past, his whole purpose was to follow his teacher and fulfill her expectations, but later she sent him to Mondstadt for his "final assignment": to find "the truth and meaning of this world".
* MeaningfulName: "Albedo" (Latin, "whiteness") is one of the stages of alchemical creation of a Philosopher's Stone. From Rhinedottir, he studied an ancient alchemical art [[spoiler:of Khaenri'ah]] that specializes in CreatingLife; among the notes that he reads, there's "Chalk is the spotless soil, and was used to make primordial man" and "from soil was birthed chalk," referring to the process of albedo, wherein impurities from the state of nigredo are cleansed. Similarly, his PenName "Calx" is Latin for chalk. In addition, his association with the color white is also reflected in the name of his Normal Attack, ''Favonius Bladework - Weiss'' (the latter meaning "white" in German).[[note]]With damage multipliers of 46.55–99.464% (average) for the 5-hit combo form, 107.5–229.69% (total) for the 2-hit charged form, and standard values for the plunging form[[/note]]
* MercyKillArrangement: He makes a one-sided version with the Traveler at the end of his Story Quest. [[spoiler:After the Traveler left, he hopes that the former, as a fellow "outlander," can stop him should he go berserk and potentially attempt to destroy Mondstadt.]]
* MirrorCharacter: With both Tighnari and the Wanderer, being youthful-looking men who are OlderThanTheyLook. Specifically...
** He and Tighnari are geniuses who hold positions of leadership in their respective organizations, have a [[DeadpanSnarker sharp wit]] (albeit moreso for Tighnari), and mentor introverted, green-haired girls. Unsurprisingly, they get along well during the "Windblume's Breath" event. The only difference is that while both master-student pairs have someone who is a LittleBitBeastly, Albedo's understudy Sucrose is the one with animal-like features, while conversely Tighnari is the animal-like to Collei's wholly human.
** He and the Wanderer wear clothing with a predominantly white/black/blue color scheme, [[spoiler:were created after the Cataclysm with Khaenri'ahn arts, have a DistinguishingMark hinting at their [[ArtificialHuman synthetic nature]], were abandoned by their female creators and later adopted by said creators' female acquaintances with PointyEars in a foreign land]], are "princes" of sorts, and are proficient with a sword. Albedo is also concerned about [[spoiler:losing control and destroying Mondstadt while Yae feared the Wanderer was a disaster waiting to happen (which did in both Inazuma and Sumeru).]] However, Albedo [[spoiler:(or rather "Subject 1") is Rhinedottir's successful attempt at creating the "Primordial Human" after many an accident and failed creation like Subject 2]], while the Wanderer is [[spoiler:the prototype of the Raiden Shogun puppet]]. The Wanderer also prefers bitter tea while Albedo likes desserts, and the Wanderer's DistinguishingMark is located at his nape while Albedo's mark is at his throat.
* MoneyMultiplier: [[PlayingWithATrope Played with]]. His utility passive, ''Flash of Genius'', gives him a 10% chance to receive twice the weapon ascension materials.
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:"Shadow Amidst Snowstorms" has him describe himself as this almost ''ad verbum''.]]
* OneTwinMustDie: Gold [[spoiler:sealed "Subject 2," her prototype of Albedo, within Durin, where he only wakes up centuries later]]. Upon seeing [[spoiler:"Subject 2" in Dragonspine, Albedo immediately draws his sword and pursues him. He later claims to have killed "Subject 2," though whether this is true or not is put into question at the end of the event, when Albedo acts OutOfCharacter.]]
* OnlyOneFindsItFun: As shown during "Windblume's Breath" event, Albedo is one of the very few people to find Cyno's jokes amusing.
* ParentalSubstitute: To Klee. He is already her family, as he is her older brother, and it is said in his character stories that he uses "most of his remaining energy" taking care of her once his knightly duties are completed.
* PenName: He signs off as "Calx" for his artistic works.
* PeopleJars: [[spoiler:A flashback from Rhinedottir's perspective shows that Albedo began life as an infant in one of these, as he is a homunculus that was created by her.]]
* RegeneratingMana: His first Constellation upgrade, ''Flower of Eden'', regenerates 1.2 Energy whenever Transient Blossoms are generated.
* SeparatedAtBirth: [[spoiler:The "Shadows Amidst Snowstorms" event reveals he is one of two Albedos, "Subject 1." "Subject 2" was sealed within Durin's body and only awakens in the present day.]]
* SituationalSword: Albedo's first-ascension passive, ''Calcite Might'', adds a 25% damage boost for Transient Blossoms against enemies with less than half their HP.
* SlidingScaleOfGameplayAndStoryIntegration: He and his little-sister figure Klee are close to each other, which is somewhat reflected in that both their Ascension stats are Elemental Damage Bonus percentages for their respective elements (i.e., Geo), complete with identical values (7.2–28.8%).
* StatSticks: As a sub-DPS character whose Elemental Talents scale off of his Defense and isn't really meant for attacking regularly, Albedo doesn't really need a particularly high Attack stat on his weapons. Most notably, it's generally agreed that the Harbinger of Dawn (3★) is one of the better weapons to put on him since he benefits greatly from its innate boost to Critical Rate (10.2–46.9%), while also being able to ignore its weaker Attack stat and the HP requirement for its "Vigorous" passive (which provides another 14–28% Critical rate boost so long as the wielder's HP is over 90%). That and the below-mentioned Cinnabar Spindle specifically boosts Skill damage based on a fraction of his Defense.
* StatusBuff: His fourth-ascension passive, ''Homuncular Nature'', allows his Burst to boost the party's Elemental Mastery stats by 125 points for ten seconds.
* StealthHiBye: A minor running joke in the "Midsummer Island" event has him silently leaving the group while others are distracted and bickering with each other.
* TheStoic: He's not emotionless ''per se'', but he rarely raises his voice. Indeed, when someone steals his sketchbook, he comments he would not "fly into a rage" at such a thing.
* SwordAndSorcerer: Albedo is the Sword to the Sorcerer of his assistant Sucrose and little sister figure Klee.
* TerribleArtist: He normally is not, but as his promotional video shows, he has a tendency to only draw the parts of lifeforms that he finds to be the most interesting and not give enough detail to the rest. Worse still is if he decides to bring that drawing to life with his alchemy.
* UpgradeArtifact: A variant--his third and fifth Constellation upgrades, ''Grace of Helios'' and ''Tide of Hadean'', add three levels to, respectively, his Skill and Burst.
* UtilityWeapon: His Skill creates a flower-like structure that can lift himself or his teammates to the air, allowing them to reach tall places easily or launch plunging attacks.
* WeaponSpecialization:
** For his Card art, Albedo wields the Sacrificial Sword (4★), whose Ascension substat is Energy Recharge (13.3–61.3%), and whose "Composed" passive gives its wielder a 40–80% chance to reset the cooldown time of their Elemental Skill, triggered at least every thirty seconds (further reducible to sixteen). With the way his kit works, this weapon allows him to reduce the cooldown for both his Elemental Talents, as well as make it easier to trigger Fatal Blossoms.
** In his character Trailer, Albedo wields the Royal Longsword (4★), whose Ascension passive is Attack percentage (9–41.3%), and whose "Focus" passive increases its wielder's Critical Rate by 8–16% whenever they hit enemies, which can stack up to five times (hence a maximum of 40–80%) and are then reset whenever they land a critical hit, hence compensating for Albedo's relatively low Attack stat by focusing on critical hits.
** The "Shadows Amidst Snowstorms" event, which focuses on Albedo, introduces the Cinnabar Spindle (4★), which shares some design cues with his outfit and is practically tailor-made for him. Story-wise, he is shown wielding it in cutscenes, in particular where [[spoiler:he stabs his impostor and later confronts another]]. Gameplay-wise, its Ascension substat of Defense (15–69%) makes it uniquely qualified to further bolster both his Elemental Talents, whose damage potencies scale off of his Defense stat, in addition to its "Spotless Heart" passive that further boosts Elemental Skill damage based on 40–80% of its wielder's Defense stat, triggered at least every 1.5 seconds.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatPerks: He views his Vision this way; he didn't show much emotion when it first appeared in front of him, and after that, he only thinks of it as a tool to help with his research. The only thing he finds interesting about it is about how it works.

Jean's right-hand man and Cavalry Captain of the Knights. An accomplished swordsman renowned for his intelligence, Kaeya is also well-known for his laid-back nature and affinity for mischievously needling people. Along with the rest of the Knights, he becomes one of the Traveler's closest allies in the "Stormterror" incident.\
\
Crafty Kaeya specializes in dancing around the opposition and swiftly dispatching of them. His Elemental Skill, ''Frostgnaw'', is a simple but rapid blast of cold wind, while his Elemental Burst, ''Glacial Waltz'', summons three icicles orbiting the active character that strike surrounding foes.[[note]]When fully upgraded, he enjoys heightened Critical Rate against enemies affected by Cryo, as well as automatically generates a Cryo-elemental shield whenever his HP is dangerously low; his Skill can now heal him depending on the number of enemies struck, as well as generate Elemental Particles whenever he Freezes enemies; and his Burst gains a fourth icicle, as well as extends its duration for every enemy defeated.[[/note]]
----
* TheAce: Kaeya can solve any problems and everyone in Mondstadt loves him.
* AdaptationRelationshipOverhaul: While both the Japanese and Korean dubs stick to the original Chinese interpretation of Diluc and Kaeya's relationship as [[SwornBrothers sworn brothers]], the English localization uses the term "adoptive brothers" instead.
* AllThereInTheManual: The incident that drove him and Diluc apart receives elaboration late into their Character Stories, as well as in the prequel webcomic.
* AmbiguouslyBi: He flirts with women and men alike, mostly the Traveler. In the prequel webcomic, he also seemingly had something going on with a male servant. He also calls Albedo attractive in his original line about the latter.
* AmbiguouslyBrown: His skin is darker than his compatriots, and his profile refers to him having an "exotic" appearance. Character Stories reveal him as [[spoiler:Khaenri'ahn]], which doesn't really mean much considering several characters from there have been light-skinned. [[spoiler:It's later revealed that Khaenri'ah took in people from other lands, implying Kaeya could be mixed, but also that all non-native Khaenri'ahns (including mixed-blood ones) were turned into hilichurls after the Cataclysm, muddying the waters further.]]
* AnimalMotifs: The peacock. Apart from befitting his flamboyant appearance, a peacock's tail resembles eyes, befitting one of the most cunning men in Mondstadt who has eyes everywhere, so to speak. [[spoiler:In addition, just as peafowls are native to India, Kaeya hails from Khaenri'ah, said to be located underneath Sumeru, which ''does'' partially have Indian cultural aesthetics.]]
* AntiHero: A GuileHero who does what he does to keep Mondstadt safe, including manipulating his allies. He lampshades this in the prequel webcomic, calling himself and Diluc "anti-heroes with attitude problems."
* AscendedMeme: Players who bench Kaeya often bring him in to use his Skill to cross large bodies of water instead of swimming or using the intended travel method. During the "Midsummer Island Adventure" event, Kaeya had been traveling around with Diluc using exactly that method.
** One of the Traveler's voice lines also invokes it, commenting that if Kaeya had lived in Inazuma before they invented boats he'd have been even busier than Jean.
* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: He is one of the captains of the knights and considered on par with Diluc and Jean in a fight.
* AwfulTruth: For a long time, Kaeya kept secret [[spoiler:his mission as a DoubleAgent from Khaenri'ah, forced to come clean in grief after Creapus' death and souring his relationship with Diluc such that both got into a duel, during which Kaeya received a Cryo Vision]].
* BigBrotherInstinct: He threatens to beat up two brothers who were upsetting Klee with their continuous arguing in the "Secret Summer Paradise" event.
* BloodKnight: His character stories mention that he enjoys seeing the hesitation in the eyes of his comrades before jumping into battle just as much as he delights in the terror of his enemies as they face off against him.
* BlueIsHeroic: Has a blue outfit with matching hair and is the first [[BlueMeansCold Cryo]] user on the Traveler's team.
* {{Bookends}}: The first line of Kaeya's Hangout event has him talking and whistling to a Dusk Bird, and the last line of the route where he and the Traveler decide to watch the play staged nearby ends with him doing the same thing.
* BoringButPractical:
** Kaeya's Elemental Talents are straightforward, focusing on dealing rapid Cryo damage. While other Cryo Vision holders with more varied skillsets outclass him, he is still useful for quick combos and Cryo application, while his Ascension stat of Energy Recharge percentage (6.7–26.8%) allows him to use his Burst more often and keep hurting surrounding foes.
** Kaeya's Skill can reliably create frozen surfaces to traverse large bodies of water, with the eight-second-long freeze duration being two seconds longer than the Skill's cooldown time.[[note]]With a 191.2–430% damage multiplier[[/note]] With the exception of Ganyu, Ayaka and Wriothesley (all four of whom, being 5★ units, are harder to obtain in comparison), other Cryo Vision holders aren't as adept at creating ice bridges due to their Talents' lengthier cooldown times, shorter freeze durations, or both.
* BreakingOldTrends: Kaeya is the first character to have both a Story Quest and a Hangout Event.
* TheCaptain: Kaeya is the Cavalry Captain, and one of ten Captains, in the Knights of Favonius. However, with Varka's expedition taking all the cavalry in Mondstadt away, there is not much else for him to do.
* CleavageWindow: A male example. His outfit has a large cutout on the front that exposes part of his chest and while in formal wear in the webcomic, Kaeya also leaves his shirt unbuttoned the create this effect. However, images of him in the past suggest he used to dress more conservatively.
* CombatPragmatist: According to his second Character Story, Kaeya once deliberately activated a Ruin Guard to cut his opponent off, something even Jean disapproved of.
* ConflictingLoyalty: Kaeya was stuck in a sort of existential crisis when he was torn on thinking about [[spoiler:which side to support just in case Khaenri'ah and Mondstadt went to war, torn between his biological father who abandoned him for the sake of duty and loyalty, and Crepus, who cared for him like a true son. When the latter died, Kaeya chose to come clean to Diluc and stay in Mondstadt]].
* ConnectedAllAlong: The third Traveler's Tale (Archon Quest Chapter III, Act VI) reveals that [[spoiler:he is a distant relative of the ''original founder'' of the Abyss Order.]]
* CoolBigBro: Spends a lot of his time in the Veluriyam Mirage doting on Klee and making sure she has a good time.
* CriticalHitClass: His first Constellation upgrade, ''Excellent Blood'', adds a 15% Critical Rate buff to the combo and charged forms of his Normal Attack against Cryo-affected enemies. Combined with loadouts prioritizing that stat and/or Cryo Resonance, he has the potential to be a decent damage-dealer so long as Cryo is constantly applied, which is made easier to achieve with both his fast-charging Elemental Talents.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: His foster father Crepus died in an ambush set up by the Fatui on the eighteenth birthday of his biological son (and Kaeya's sworn brother) Diluc. Kaeya not only arrived too late to protect Crepus, but was shocked that he would be desperate enough to use [[CastFromLifespan a Delusion]], as well as made him feel torn between [[spoiler:choosing to support Mondstadt or Khaenri'ah. Feeling Crepus had shown him the love denied of him by his biological father, Kaeya chose to come clean to Diluc about what he truly is, and they clashed with each other because of it]]. Ever since, he and Diluc had not been on good terms.
* DanceBattler: His Elemental Burst is called ''Glacial Waltz'', and his Normal Attack style, ''Ceremonial Bladework'', invokes swift movements, not unlike a dance.[[note]]With the latter having damage multipliers of 65.962–140.936% (average) for the 5-hit combo form, 128.14–273.79% for the 2-hit charged form, and standard values for the plunging form[[/note]]
* DecoyBackstory: In his Story Quest, Kaeya claims that his grandfather was a pirate who hid an important treasure only his family knew, and his EyepatchOfPower is supposedly inherited from him. In truth, it is but a bait for a Treasure Hoarder long in the Knight's wanted list, and he decided to get the Traveler in on the fake treasure hunt [[ItAmusedMe for his pure amusement]]. [[spoiler:The third Traveler's Tale reveals that Kaeya is Khaenri'ahn, whose distant ancestor Chlothar founded the Abyss Order.]]
* DefenseMechanismSuperpower: His fourth Constellation upgrade, ''Frozen Kiss'', automatically casts a shield whenever his HP falls below 20% (within at least one-minute intervals), which lasts until either after twenty seconds have passed or it has absorbed damage worth 30% of his Max HP and enjoys a 250% efficiency against Cryo damage.
* DoubleAgent: Kaeya is actually [[spoiler:an agent of Khaenri'ah placed in Mondstadt to "serve their interests." His biological father abandoned him for the sake of fulfilling his mission and was adopted by Crepus Ragnvindr]].
* DoubleMeaning: Kaeya's Hangout Event tree has two branches where he alludes to [[spoiler:his inner turmoil about his duty to Khaenri'ah while desiring naught else but to enjoy his life as a Mondstadter]].
** In that where he and the Traveler get Venti to help Sister Grace with an amateur Church choir, the bard approaches Kaeya and questions his attempt to slip away before everyone gets to sing. He tells Venti that the Anemo Archon already has many believers, and tries to give a plausible excuse that he prefers leaving before performances end, but the Traveler sees right through him. In response, Venti crafts the following poem for Kaeya, promising him that while he may be struggling with his unspoken burdens now, he will never be alone while he find his happiness.
--->'''Venti:''' "'Abandoned to whatever fortune the cruel waters bring, bereft of control directionless I swing.\
The swift currents surge, and onward I urge, through the snow and frost that Fall and Winter bring.\
Majestic waves cresting, surf roaring its tale, none but the ocean to hear as I sing.\
The stars in my eyes as I chart toward the horizon, that into one day, from the endless dome of night I shall spring.'\
If you are a chaser of freedom, the Anemo Archon will bless you. So why not let those feelings out, and sing with everyone?"\
'''Kaeya:''' "A boat that has come unmoored will not get lost in the night, but sail towards the dawn... A beautiful image."\
'''Venti:''' "Of course, you don't have to believe in it, but the winds of Mondstadt will guide every lost ship back to safe harbor."
** In that where he and the Traveler stay in Port Ormos, they participate in a stage play whose plot [[spoiler:is an allegory for Kaeya's situation, as both he and his role, Prince Qubad, were forced by their fathers to remain in a foreign land for the sake of their homeland. Some lines clearly hit too close for Kaeya's comfort as he falters when he has to recite Qubad's lament over his state. After the Traveler encourages Kaeya to face his fate, Kaeya continues his act as Qubad with renewed fevor, with his following lines applicable to both the prince and himself.]]
--->'''"Qubad":''' [[spoiler:"Fate means to send the machinations of war to every corner of the land, to fan the flames of conflict till they engulf the entire world... Fate would see my sword tainted with the blood of innocents, that the bright banner of my homeland might fly in every nation known to mankind. But I shall not bow to the will of fate. I am no pawn in heaven's plan."]]
* ExoticEyeDesigns: He has pupils shaped like four-pointed stars, unlike the other characters' standard circular ones [[spoiler:which hints at him being from the cursed nation of Khaenri'ah]].
* EveryoneHasStandards: ThrillSeeker and [[AntiHero anti-heroic]] he can sometimes be, in the webcomic, despite attacking a young Collei, he was shocked and disturbed to see her stop fighting and ''inviting'' him to kill her.
* EyeScream: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. While Kaeya likes to mess with people and never tells the truth of why he wears an eyepatch, his namecard strongly implies that he is not actually missing an eye. Letters in the "Hidden Strife" event reveal that [[spoiler:his right eye was scarred during his fight with Diluc, but not to the point of blindness. While Kaeya was already wearing it for his own reasons, since that fight it also served to cover up the scar]].
* EyepatchOfPower: He wears a black eyepatch on his right eye. In his Story Quest, he claims he inherited it from his pirate grandfather.
* FalseCause: In Kaeya's third Character Story, a young Knight notices how incidents of banditry in and around Mondstadt sharply fall whenever the "Death After Noon" wine is out of season. Unbeknownst to him, Kaeya is already dealing with such threats, but is more active in his job whenever his favorite wine runs dry.
* FeetFirstIntroduction: How the game introduces him to the players after they take down Dvalin for the first time. His full-body portrait (above) also places great emphasis on his feet.
* FieldPowerEffect: In Genius Invokation TCG, his Burst creates an aura that deals damage every time you switch characters.
* FighterMageThief: Of the three {{Starter Mon}}s, Kaeya is the Fighter, having the best sprint stamina and whose kit encourages him to be in the thick of battle.
* FlashStep: The fifth and final hit of his Normal Attack combo has him blink behind his target before striking. With good timing, he can use it to dodge incoming attacks or quickly jump onto a new target after defeating his current one.
* TheGadfly: He tends to say obvious lies just for laughs, and enjoys messing with people in general. For example, in his Story Quest he claims that he is the descendant of a pirate and that his eyepatch was (somehow) inherited from him [[InsaneTrollLogic just like how hairstyles are passed down]], all with a straight face.
* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: His claims to use his superior [[CunningLinguist "linguistic skills"]] to extract information from Fatui he's been cozying up to just ''barely'' qualifies as a double entendre, given his flirtatious nature and the highly suggestive delivery of the voice line.
* GuileHero: Kaeya is very good at social interactions and can predict people's reactions, making it easy to smooth-talk and charm his way into swaying friend and foe alike to his benefit. His Story Quest is a TreasureHuntEpisode which turns out to be a wild-goose chase meant to draw out Treasure Hoarders, which so happens to involve lying to the Traveler and Paimon about the existence of a legendary sword, knowing they will go after it. The webcomic also has him indirectly dealing with the Fatui by using Diluc as a scapegoat to prevent them from discrediting the Knights.
* HappilyAdopted: By Crepus, through whom he became close friends with his biological son Diluc. While their relationship soured after Crepus' death, the rest of the household still consider Kaeya one of their own.
* HiddenInPlainSight: At the end of Diluc's Story Quest, Kaeya was in Angel's Share the whole time when Diluc created an alibi to get Huffman off his back.
* InformedAttribute: Despite nominally leading the Knighs' cavalry division, he's never once shown actually riding a horse. On top of that, his weapon of choice is a sword, contrary to the polearm a mounted fighter would be expected to use.
* LifeDrain: His first-ascension passive, ''Cold-Blooded Strike'', restores his HP (worth 15% of his Attack stat) whenever his Skill hits enemies. In Genius Invokation TCG, his Skill also restores 2 HP every time it is used.
* MoleInCharge: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. With Varka and several other Captains away, Kaeya is currently the acting second-in-command. He's also [[spoiler:a sleeper agent for Khaenri’ah]], a source of deep personal conflict and the reason for his falling-out with his adopted brother, Diluc.
* MrFanservice: Of the initial playable roster, Kaeya is the game's first fanservice-friendly male character—TallDarkAndHandsome, has a CleavageWindow that shows off his abs, wears [[PaintedOnPants some quite tight pants]], and is TheTease.
* MundaneUtility: His Skill can be used to travel large bodies of water due to its cooldown time being shorter than its freeze duration.
* MysteriousPast: His profile hints that there is something more to him besides his talents. His Character Stories are even more vague, although they hint that he [[spoiler:came from Khaenri'ah]].
-->"Everyone in Mondstadt loves Kaeya, but no one knows what secrets this witty, charming knight has..."
* TheOneGuy: At the time of the game's release, Kaeya was the sole male playable Knight (until Albedo come v1.2). Unless Aether is the Traveler, he is the only male character a player is guaranteed to gain; all other male characters are available only through Wishes.
* OrbitingParticleShield: Played with, in that while it isn't defensive in nature, his Burst summons three icicles that orbit the active character for eight seconds and damage surrounding foes.[[note]]With a 77.6–175% damage multiplier per icicle[[/note]] His second Constellation upgrade, ''Never-Ending Performance'', adds 2.5 seconds to its duration for every enemy defeated while it is active (to a maximum of fifteen seconds, meaning at least three enemies must be defeated to maximize its duration), and his sixth, ''Glacial Whirlwind'', adds a fourth icicle, as well as immediately recharges 15 Energy.
* OutGambitted: {{Subverted|Trope}}. Kaeya believes Diluc is the Darknight Hero and sent Huffman to keep an eye on him at Angel's Share just before the Abyss Order's planned attack on Mondstadt to go after the vigilante. To maintain an alibi, Diluc created a diversion by having his staff pose as patrons to distract Huffman. However, Kaeya planned for this and reveals he snuck into the bar and saw everything, but decides to keep the secret after seeing his sworn brother finally accepting help from someone else.
* PaintedOnPants: Kaeya proves that not only women can rock the look. His introduction cutscene has a pan around his pants to show them off. He ditches the skintight pants in his Sailwind Shadow outfit however, instead wearing standard baggy pants.
* ParentalSubstitute: Despite his tendency to mess with Klee, he is like a father to her, having written a list of rules that Klee must follow to stay out of trouble and to prevent her from hurting people. He's also shown to get angry at anyone who upsets her as shown in the "Secret Summer Paradise" event, where the brothers' bickering causing Klee to almost burst out in tears leads to Kaeya dropping his easygoing demeanor and scolding them.
* PowerStereotypeFlip: Despite wielding a [[AnIcePerson Cryo]] Vision, he's quite active, [[TheSocialExpert sociable]], and [[TheGadfly a bit shady in a fun way]].
* RedOniBlueOni: The playful, laid-back Red to Diluc's stoic, serious Blue.
* RediscoveringRootsTrip: During their meeting in Port Ormos, Kaeya relates to the Traveler that shortly after he was adopted by Crepus, he snuck into a Dawn Winery caravan to Sumeru in search of [[spoiler:his native Khaenri'ah]]. [[SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome Crepus quickly caught onto his trip, and personally came to take him home before he could get very far.]]
* ReducedManaCost: [[PlayingWithATrope Played with.]] His utility passive, ''Hidden Strength'', shaves 20% off of Stamina consumption while sprinting.
* RegeneratingMana: His fourth-ascension passive, ''Glacial Heart'', generates up to a pair of Elemental Particles whenever enemies are frozen by his Skill.
* ScarsAreForever: The letters in the "Hidden Strife" event reveal that [[spoiler:his right eye was scarred during a fight with Diluc]].
* ScrewDestiny: Discussed twice in the branch of his Hangout Event tree where he plays Prince Qubad in a stage play.
** [[spoiler:Kaeya falters momentarily when he has to recite Qubad's line lamenting being forced to stay in a foreign land per his father's instruction, potentially for the rest of his life, something that hits too close to home. He improvises and asks the Traveler what they would do in his place, to which the Traveler replies that he defy his fate. Emboldened, Qubad resolves to rebel against his father and the fate set upon him to maintain his hard-won peace and protect the innocent, declaring:]]
--->'''"Qubad":''' [[BadassBoast "But I shall not bow to the will of fate. I am no pawn in heaven's plan."]]
** After the play concludes, the Traveler asks Kaeya about his thoughts about his performance. While he doesn't say it directly, Kaeya seems to have realized that he doesn't need to resign himself into accepting whatever unwanted outcomes that will come his way in the future.
--->"Anyway, that's exactly why actors need to wake up and realize they don't have to follow the script. There's nothing to stop them from following their gut and making it up as they go along...Everyone, you and I included, is both an actor and a member of the audience. If you don't like the script, just walk off the stage and join the audience. You always have a choice."
* SecretKeeper: At the end of Diluc's Story Quest, he decides to keep the latter's vigilante work a secret from the Knights, content that [[IWorkAlone the erstwhile lone-wolf Diluc]] is now willing to accept help.
* SecretSecretKeeper: The webcomic implies Kaeya has been well aware of Diluc's exploits as a vigilante for the past few years, but simply never told anyone about it.
* ShoutOut: In the branch to his Hangout Event tree where he and the Traveler watch a play, he quotes the ever-famous line from Creator/WilliamShakespeare's ''Theatre/AsYouLikeIt''.
-->"All the world's a stage, and all the people merely players."
* SiblingYinYang: Of a sort, with his sworn brother Diluc. Kaeya has a Cryo Vision, a blue-and-white color scheme, and tanned skin; Diluc has a Pyro vision, a red-and-black color scheme, and light skin. Their drink preferences are also different; Kaeya is fond of wine (specifically Death After Noon), while Diluc prefers grape juice. Unsurprisingly, they do not like each other’s drink choices.
* SituationalSword: His first Constellation upgrade, ''Excellent Blood'', increases the Critical Rate of the combo and charged forms of his Normal Attack by 15% against enemies affected with Cryo.
* TheSocialExpert: He's a smooth and skilled talker, capable of defusing tough situations with his choice of words. In the webcomic, he can also deduce that Collei was the one behind the "black fire incident" through his words and watching her reactions. This occasionally leads him to apologize for "prying too much." His character story section also has this line of dialogue.
* StarterMon: In addition to being one of the first three playable characters in the game, Kaeya is also one of the first three Character Cards for Genius Invokation TCG (alongside Sucrose and Diluc).
* StepfordSmiler: Kaeya is a charming [[TheSocialExpert social expert]] who hardly shies away from any conversation, and is ever-present with a confident smile. Other characters, however, question how much of his jovial disposition is sincere. During the "Of Ballads and Brews" event, Razor even calls him a "grown-up with a fake smile."
* StrongAsTheyNeedToBe: His manga version has him display a varied set of powerful and versatile abilities from his Cryo Vision; like being able to create a wall of ice that can deflect Collei's flames, ice swords to wield, and even an ice roof above him used as a shield to defend against the magical chains of Diluc's Delusion. He doesn't display such abilities in-game.
* SueDonym: In the branch of his Hangout Event tree where he and the Traveler visit Liyue Harbor and he pretends to be a wealthy young lord to catch a con artist, he gives his name as "[[WealthsInAName Albert Rich]]"... as in Alberich.
* SwornBrothers: He and Diluc are described as "sworn brothers" in the original Chinese text, which is roughly equivalent to the concept of blood brothers.
* TallDarkAndHandsome: Kaeya is tall, dark-skinned, and very charming.
-->''"Everyone's got a secret, but not everyone knows what to do with it."''
* TheTease: Kaeya seems to be romantically interested in the Traveler, and outside of serious moments, his dialogue consists of flirtations and asking them out on dates. Dialogue options allow you to tease him back, though not as much as he does.
* ThrillSeeker: While his CombatPragmatist tendencies tend to land everyone involved into a tight situation, he takes joy in seeing the panic and terror in the eyes of both his allies and enemies.
* TokenEvilTeammate: Downplayed. Kaeya is firmly on the side of justice, but believes the ends justify the means and is known to employ questionable tactics that are frowned upon by Jean. In the past, he's set off a Ruin Guard to cut off a bandit despite knowing it could harm his fellow Knights and enjoys the looks of fear on friend and foe alike. Paimon even states he comes across as a shady guy.
* TokenGoodTeammate: On the flip side, he's so far [[spoiler:one of the few Khaenri'ahns to actually be one of the good guys (besides Albedo and Dainsleif), considering that the majority of their compatriots were transformed into either hilichurls or members of the Abyss Order, while Pierro founded the Fatui]].
* TreasureHuntEpisode: His Story Quest has him claim that his grandfather was a pirate who hid a powerful sword through a series of puzzles and requests the Traveler and Paimon to help him find it. After a series of puzzles and running around the Mondstadt area, it turns out Kaeya fabricated the entire thing to lure out some Treasure Hoarders.
* {{Troll}}: He regularly screws with Klee, either by stealing her stuffed animals or by tricking her into attacking the other Knights so Jean throws her into solitary, as he does in her banner PV.
* UpgradeArtifact: A variant--his third and fifth Constellation upgrades, ''Dance of Frost'' and ''Frostbiting Embrace'', add three levels to, respectively, his Skill and Burst.
* UnexpectedGameplayChange: Unlike other Hangout Events, Kaeya's starts with a full [[RelationshipValues Heartbeat Value]] that never changes regardless of the player's dialogue choices.
* VillainousLegacy: His heritage and its associated legacy have long been a source of conflict for Kaeya, though he claims to have little interest in the past. [[spoiler:When Dainsleif reveals that his ancestor Clothar founded the Abyss Order, Kaeya is quick to deny having any ties to the Order and flippantly rejects the idea that his heritage has anything to do with him, though Mona's voiceline about him warns that it ''will'' catch up to him one day]].
* WouldHurtAChild: Kaeya attacks Collei after she murders two Snezhnayan diplomats in the Black Fire Incident on behalf of the Fatui. However, he is disturbed when the young girl abruptly stops fighting and ''invites'' him kill her.
* XMarksTheSpot: His Story Quest is a TreasureHuntEpisode that involves finding treasures using photographic clues, such as a picture of a windmill, or a map with a red "X" mark on it.

The cheerful, sole Outrider of the Knights, trained by her grandfather in the art of scouting. She is the very first Teyvatian the Traveler and Paimon meet and befriend, and becomes an ally for them alongside the rest of the Knights during the "Stormterror" incident.\
\
Amber specializes in distracting her foes through her Elemental Skill, ''Explosive Puppet'', where she throws her stuffed toy Baron Bunny to draw enemy aggression away from her before exploding either after its timer expires or it has taken sufficient hits, giving her ample time to shower her foes with burning arrows through her Elemental Burst, ''Fiery Rain''.[[note]]When fully upgraded, she gains a temporary Attack boost whenever she hits weak spots as well as the ability to fire two arrows at once with her aimed shots; her Skill can now be used up to twice in succession; Baron Bunny can now be manually detonated with a charged shot to the foot; and her Burst can now boost her party's Attack stat and movement speed.[[/note]]
----
* ActionBomb: Baron Bunny is a decoy that [[DrawAggro draws enemy aggression]] before exploding.
* AllLovingHero:
** At the very start of the game, Amber is the one who introduced the Traveler to Mondstadt as well as the Knights, vouching her trust on them at a time when tensions were running high due to both the Stormterror crisis and the Fatui's encroachment on domestic affairs.
** In addition, Amber has also stood up for pariahs twice in the past:
*** Eula was ostracized because of her family's ill reputation, but Amber showed her kindness and continues to stand up for her to this day.
*** Collei was feared and hated because she was cursed, but Amber made her feel safe, helped cure her, and became her first true friend with whom she kept correspondences long after returning to Sumeru. Amber was such a role model that, as a teenager, Collei would also take up archery in a reconnaissance role for her local security force, as well as wear her Dendro Vision on her belt like Amber does.
* AnimalMotifs: Bunnies. Her headband looks like bunny ears (which [[ExpressiveEars twitch during idle animations]], [[RuleOfCute somehow]]), she names her summonable doll and dresses as a bunny, and her Constellation is a hare.
* ArrowsOnFire: She's an archer and a Pyro Vision holder, which makes her charged shots and Burst release flaming arrows.
* AscendedMeme: Players consider Amber mediocre compared to other archers. During the "Windblume Festival" event, her score during the balloon-popping game was ranked behind another archer.[[note]]Ironically, the reason why she is considered mediocre is because she is solely focused on firing arrows. Most archers' auto-attack animations are slow, and aimed shots are not a favorable strategy when auto-targeting is the default, and they typically compensate with Elemental Talents with unique gimmicks. Ganyu was the other archer who specialized in charged shots, and even that was ameliorated by [[DifficultButAwesome her massive damage output]]. Others have been added since then, but Amber is still high-risk with low reward. That said, she is not actually any better or worse than other characters in terms of accuracy, and her first Constellation upgrade makes her one of the best characters for that mode since it [[{{Multishot}} doubles her arrow output]]. Her damage overall is still low, but coverage is more important than damage when you're popping balloons.[[/note]]
* BadassAdorable: Amber is a cheerful and friendly young lady, whose youthfulness is in full display on her idle animations, especially when she's snuggling up to Baron Bunny. She's also the Knights' sole Outrider, a job she does her best to take seriously, while also being capable with a bow.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: She's without a doubt one of the friendliest and most outgoing Knights, which is why it can come as a shock when, during the "Shadows Amidst Snowstorms" event, [[spoiler:she fires off what would have been a ''kill shot'' had the fake Albedo not dodged it, especially since she didn't know it was an imposter yet and thought she was fighting a fellow Knight]].
* BunnyEarsLawyer: {{Pun}} aside, Amber is straightforward and earnest to a fault, and sometimes easily distracted, but her earnestness helped her befriend Collei, a young outsider emotionally scarred by years of betrayal and abuse. She also has good intuition, and as an Outrider, she is quite competent in scouting and spying on enemies.
* ButNotTooForeign: Amber is quarter-Liyuan, with her grandfather having come from Qingce Village.
* ButThouMust: While Amber's story Quest seems optional to a new player, it is a prerequisite to unlock that of Razor, which in turn unlocks the first Traveler's Tale (Archon Quest Chapter I, Act IV) required to progress through the main story.
* ButtMonkey: She is often the butt of jokes coming from her own earnest personality. In official gameplay videos, she often receives hits from monsters attacks.
* CrutchCharacter: Amber is the very first Pyro and Bow unit you get. While her utility in clearing torch puzzles and ability to slow the Stamina consumption of gliding can help with exploration, her lack of sheer firepower means many players will bench her the moment they roll better Pyro and/or Bow units.
* DrawAggro: Her Skill has her toss Baron Bunny to distract enemies before [[ActionBomb exploding]] to deal wide-ranging Pyro damage either after eight seconds have passed or it has taken sufficient damage.[[note]]With Max HP worth 41.36–93.1% of Amber's and a 123.2–277% damage multiplier[[/note]] Her second Constellation upgrade, ''Bunny Triggered'', allows Amber to manually detonate it with a charged shot to its foot for thrice the damage output, while her fourth, ''It's Not Just Any Doll...'', decreases its cooldown time by 20% (i.e., from fifteen seconds to twelve), as well as adds an extra charge.
* ElementalPersonalities: Amber has a [[PlayingWithFire Pyro]] Vision and is an active, candid, [[GenkiGirl energetic]], sociable and [[NiceGirl kind]] young woman.
* ExpressiveEars: [[PlayingWithATrope A variant]]—her headband's ribbon often twitches during certain idle animations, not unlike a bunny's ears.
* FacingYourFears: Her favorite fairytale book, ''Wind, Courage and Wings'', has AnAesop that reads "it's courage that allows you to fly, not the winds." This motivated her to overcome her fears and become the best glider in Mondstadt. In her Story Quest, where she is chasing a glider-wielding Treasure Hoarder nicknamed "Raptor," he taunts her that she, the Traveler, and Paimon will not be able to get to his place, as a ''vast'' chasm separates them. While initially cautious, the trio decide that there is no other way but forward, and so committed a leap of faith, realizing that there is an updraft near the platform Raptor is standing on, allowing them to catch up to him. She later points out that he would not be so smug if he did not know about it.
* FashionableAsymmetry: There's a thigh strap on her right leg but none on her left.
* FighterMageThief: Of the three {{Starter Mon}}s, Amber is the Thief, able to glide further, solve torch puzzles, and send decoys to avoid direct combat.
* FriendlySniper: She's so good a markswoman, she can throw stones as well as a bow and arrow. She is also lively and friendly.
* GenkiGirl: Amber has boundless energy and a positive outlook in life.
* GirlsLoveStuffedAnimals: Her idle animation has her hugging Baron Bunny in an unbelievably cute manner.
* GogglesDoNothing: She has a pair of goggles around her neck. She does, at least, wear them when she is gliding.
* HartmanHips: Her shorts help accentuate her wide hips. If anything, it helps her AnimalMotif and makes her look like a bunny.
* ICallItVera: Her Baron Bunny stuffed toys are decoy bombs.
* InternalHomage: Like many of the other Mondstadt characters, [[https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/gensin-impact/images/f/fc/Party_Setup_Amber.gif/revision/latest?cb=20230816094055 her unique Party Setup animation is a reference to her portrait]], albeit inverted.
* InvisibleParents: Amber's parents are never mentioned in the game, only her grandfather who raised her.
* LastOfHerKind: Amber is the last Outrider, once an elite and prestigious scouting division, now dissolved following her grandfather's departure and the general lack of personnel skilled enough to pass on the tradition.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: When you first meet her, she asks "what's with this mascot" in regards to Paimon, the game's mascot and app icon.
* LeapOfFaith: In her Story Quest, a chasm separates her and the Traveler from the thief Raptor. When they thought that there is no logical method to get across, Amber insists on gliding because it is the only way left. It turns out that there is a wind updraft near the end, which allows them to catch up to him.
* LegacyCharacter: Amber's grandfather is a former Knight and founder of the Outrider division. When he saw Amber's enthusiasm from watching his training sessions, he taught her everything he knew. When an incident in the past resulted in the dissolution of his division, Amber kept her title.
* LethalChef: Amber is supposedly a bad cook, judging from the description of her specialty dish, Outrider Champion's Steak.[[note]]In a bit of GameplayAndStorySegregation, somehow it has a better effect than the delicious-grade form of its base dish, Steak.[[/note]]
-->''One side is obviously uncooked. The other side gives off a subtle scent of something burnt. Close your eyes and have a big mouthful, just to keep Amber happy if nothing else.''
* LethalJokeCharacter: Due to being a CrutchCharacter, Amber doesn't see much use in high-level teams, and not even her Ascension stat of Attack percentage (6–24%) is of much help, but her simple kit that made her a good starter also makes her a good user of Elegy for the End. She can function as a high-risk, high-reward support as a result, which is just about the only scenario in which Amber can be described as DifficultButAwesome. However, as this is not an inherent part of her kit, she may potentially be eclipsed in this role.
* MirrorCharacter: [[Characters/GenshinImpactInazuma Inazuma]] would later give Amber one in Yoimiya. Both are [[GenkiGirl cheerful]], [[NiceGirl friendly]] archers with medium body builds and [[PlayingWithFire Pyro]] Visions who are of a great help for the Traveler during their respective nations' Archon Quests.
* MsFanservice: Albeit [[DownplayedTrope a more modestly-dressed example]] compared to the rest of the cast, Amber does set the tone going forward as the first character the player meets. She wears an outfit that clings to her curves, emphasizing her HartmanHips and exposing a small CleavageWindow as well as [[SexyBacklessOutfit her back]]. Her short shorts and thigh-high boots emphasize her butt and legs, respectively. She ended up being one of the characters that [=HoYoVerse=] had to redesign to comply with Chinese censorship laws.
* {{Multishot}}: Her first Constellation upgrade, ''One Arrow to Rule Them All'', lets her fire an extra arrow with the aimed form of her Normal Attack, ''Sharpshooter'', with damage worth a fifth of the original arrow.[[note]]Her Normal Attack has damage multipliers of 45.064–95.428% (average) for her 5-hit combo form and standard values for both charged and plunging forms[[/note]]
* MundaneUtility: Baron Bunny can act as this, as its explosive nature means that it can instantly shatter weaker ore nodes, while leaving tougher ores with only a sliver of HP remaining (something that Bennet's fully-charged Skill would only deal a ''small'' amount of damage to).
* NaughtyIsGood: Amber is an [[GenkiGirl energetic girl]] ever since she was young, but this led to accidents such as dropping a bird's nest on her grandfather's head and setting a Dendro Slime's leaves on fire. She has learned to behave herself once she got older, though she still has shades of this from time to time.
* NiceGirl: Amber is lively, upbeat, very friendly, and nothing but encouraging to anyone she meets. This warmth extends [[AllLovingHero even to those who have been ostracized by society]], such as Eula and Collei, as well as the Traveler despite a slightly rocky first impression.
* NotMeThisTime: Amber ticks off all the boxes in the description Razor gives on his acquaintance in the Knights of Favonius (part of the group, wears red, holds a Pyro Vision) who he describes as often causing fires in his native Wolvendom, but it is not actually her. It is later confirmed to be [[MadBomber Klee]].
* OlderThanTheyLook: While she has a medium body build, and despite her youthful--and at times immature--personality, Amber is already a young adult, indicated by the fact she is old enough to drink. Eula doesn't know this, and assumes that she is in her mid-teens.
* ParentalAbandonment: "Grandparental," to be exact. Four years before the start of the game, Amber's grandfather left Mondstadt for no obvious reason, without telling anyone beforehand or even leaving behind a note. [[spoiler:One message on the bulletin board of his native Qingce Village bulletin board implies that he has returned, though it's unclear why he did so.]]
* RainOfArrows: Her Burst shoots up an arrow which rains down eighteen flaming arrows that strike at random over a wide area for two seconds.[[note]]With a 28.08–63.2% damage multiplier per shot[[/note]] Her first-ascension passive, ''Every Arrow Finds Its Target'', increases its Critical Rate by 10% and its damage radius by 30%, while her sixth Constellation upgrade, ''Wildfire'', allows it to grant allies within its damage radius a 15% boost to both Attack and movement speed for ten seconds.
* RaisedByGrandparents: Her grandfather raised her her and inspired her to become an Outrider.
* RedIsHeroic: Her outfit is mostly red (with shades of white and brown) and she is the very first person to join the Traveler's party.
* RedOniBlueOni: The passionate and fiery Red to Eula's aloof and icy Blue.
* ReducedManaCost: [[PlayingWithATrope Played with.]] Her utility passive, ''Gliding Champion'', shaves 20% off of Stamina consumption while gliding.
* SeriesMascot: Less so than Aether and Paimon, but she's front-and-center for a good deal of the game's advertising, particularly on Website/YouTube.
* SignatureHeadgear: Her dark red hairband with bunny-like ribbon distinguishes her from other characters.
* SlidingScaleOfGameplayAndStoryIntegration:
** Amber is one of the best gliders in Mondstadt. Fittingly, her field passive reduces the stamina cost of gliding.
** Amber's quarter-Liyuan heritage is reflected in the fact that the Pyro Regisvine, the normal boss from which she gets some of her level Ascension materials, is located in Liyue.
** As an archer, it is also fitting that she collects hilichurl arrowheads for her Character and Talent Ascensions.
* SportsHeroBackstory: She mastered the Wind Glider and became a three-time winner of the Gliding Championship in Mondstadt.
* StarterMon: More so than Kaeya and Lisa, as she is the ''very first'' recruitable character you get aside from the Traveler.
* StatusBuff: Amber's fourth-ascension passive, ''Precise Shot'', bestows her a 15% Attack buff for ten seconds whenever she shoots at an enemy's weak spot.
* StrongAsTheyNeedToBe: Like Kaeya, Amber proves to be considerably more powerful and versatile in the prequel webcomic than in the game, being able to use her powers to enchant Jean's sword, create elemental shields, and even defeat Barnabas empowered by the power of a god with a single Pyro arrow.
* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: In her Story Quest, the Traveler learns that using their Wind Glider in Mondstadt requires a license, and they have been breaking the law the whole time. While trying to take the gliding exam, they nearly get arrested, and Amber, who was proctoring the test, must explain the situation to the guard. She herself must keep retaking the test because she keeps losing her license due to reckless flying; fortunately, [[AcceptableBreaksFromReality you do not have to worry about that]].
* TakingTheHeat: When Amber was young, she used to cause all sorts of trouble. It was her grandfather who took the blame and did damage control every time she caused incidents.
* ThisLooksLikeAJobForAquaman: Players bench her in favor of the more powerful characters. But she has a use for dealing with the Electro Hypostasis's healing crystals. They are only vulnerable to elemental damage, and her charged shots and Baron Bunny can quickly take them down in time while other characters may need to rely on Elemental Talents. Against the Cryo Regisvine, she can also easily bring down its weak points whenever its area attack makes the entire battlefield a blizzard save for a single safe zone. Her longer gliding time, reliable source of Pyro with no cooldown limitations, and the ability to snipe at Ruin Guards' eyes also makes her a very handy party member when traversing the hazards of Dragonspine.
* UnfortunateItemSwap: She was supposed to give a Glider's Handbook to help the Traveler know the basics of gliding, but she instead passed them the fairytale book, ''Wind, Courage, and Wings'', mistaking it for the actual handbook.
* UpgradeArtifact: A variant--her third and fifth Constellation upgrades, ''It Burns!'' and ''It's Baron Bunny!'', add three levels to, respectively, her Burst and Skill.
* UtilityPartyMember:
** Amber's upfront damage-dealing abilities leave something to be desired. Her exploration-adjacent abilities, on the other hand, are far more helpful: she has a utility passive which reduces Stamina consumption of gliding, her shots can light torches and solve puzzles no one else can, and she can hit weak points all the time, and if an enemy is weak to Pyro, she can bring it down much faster.
** Some puzzles require two {{Pressure Plate}}s to be activated simultaneously. If you do not wish to use the Geo Traveler, Baron Bunny can activate one plate while she stands on the other.
* WeakButSkilled: Despite her role in the story, Amber is one of the weakest characters combat-wise due to her poor stat growth and issues involving her Elemental Talents, which quickly lead to her getting a bad reputation among players. However, she is among the most useful characters for exploration thanks to the various puzzles that require Pyro and/or Bow units, and a passive that reduces the Stamina cost of gliding, not to mention that despite her low offensive stats, she can still be useful for crowd control.

A little girl under the care of Jean, Klee loves to go around blowing things up with her homemade bombs.\
\
Klee happily lobs bunny-shaped bombs and fires lasers, either through the respective combo and charged forms of her Normal Attack, ''Kaboom!'', or her Elemental Talents--her Skill, ''Jumpy Dumpty'', launches a large bomb up to twice in succession which, after bouncing twice, splits into eight mines which explode either after a few seconds or whenever enemies touch them, while her Burst, ''Sparks 'n' Splash'', summons a bunny-shaped bomb that disperses into four lasers that fire on her foes so long as she is on the field.[[note]]When fully upgraded, all her attacks can now be randomly augmented with lasers; her Normal Attack style and Skill can now randomly produce an Explosive Spark that is consumed to boost the damage output and negate the Stamina cost of her next charged attack, which can now restore Energy for the party should it score a critical hit; the mines left by her Skill can now inflict a Defense penalty; and her Burst can now confer a boost to the party's Pyro damage, periodically restore the party's Energy, and explode on surrounding foes whenever Klee is switched out.[[/note]]
----
* AesopAmnesia: No matter how many times Jean throws her into solitary confinement, as soon as she gets out, Klee goes right back to her MadBomber antics, in particular her hobby of bomb fishing at Starfell Lake, the one activity she will keep defying rules for even if she is mindful of all other restrictions. By the end of her Story Quest, Jean intuits that her treasure an Abyss Mage stole was one such bomb.
* AllLovingHero: She treats everyone with love and affection, with Kaeya stating that her innocence helps brings out the best in others.
* AnimalMotifs: Bunnies, similarly to Amber. Her stuffed animal, Dodoco, is a CartoonCreature with bunny-like features, and the bombs she summons are bunny-shaped.
* ArbitraryWeaponRange: Her laser will dissipate after reaching a certain range, particularly if you shoot it from a high elevation.
* AwesomeButImpractical: As a Catalyst unit who applies Pyro in the form of bombs, Klee can make explosions to her heart's content, as well as constantly apply Pyro that (combined with Electro) can make ''more'' explosions, thus more damage, with the caveat that said reaction would blow enemies away from her so she has to run up to them at best, or make her suffer from severe KnockBack at worst. With Klee's high Stamina consumption and low base HP ([[UnexpectedlyRealisticGameplay due to being physically a small child]]), Klee has a very hard time exploiting the knockback potential of Overload reactions.
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: Given how young she is, most of the other teens or adults immediately go out of their way to look after her or make sure she doesn't hurt others with her bombs. During the "Midsummer Island Adventures" event [[BigBrotherInstinct Razor and Albedo]] receive letters from "Dodo-King" that coerced them to come to the Golden Apple Archipelago by claiming he was holding Klee hostage or she was in danger. Jean in particular goes on the quest so there's someone to look after Klee going off on what's arguably a dangerous trek.
* BadassAdorable: She's one of the cutest and most energetic members of the cast, acting like she does not have a care in the world. But packed in that small and unassuming frame is a heavy amount of (literal) firepower, capable of devastating hordes of enemies and entire locations through liberal use of explosives.
* BeamSpam: Her Burst summons a quartet of lasers that fire on nearby enemies and last ten seconds or until she is switched out.[[note]]With a 42.64–95.94% damage multiplier per laser[[/note]]
* BigBrotherWorship: While she and Albedo aren't related, she looks up to him, even addressing him as "gege" in Chinese and "onii-chan" in Japanese. The feelings are mutual--during the "Midsummer Island Adventure" event, the Dodo-King coerced him to come to the Golden Apple Archipelago by claiming he has Klee hostage, while in "Hues of the Violet Garden," she refers to him as her older brother, and in "Windblume's Breath," Albedo refers to her as his younger sister and says it's only natural for him to be protective of her.
* BirdsOfAFeather: She and Yoimiya quickly get along upon meeting during the Irodori Festival, despite not being able to display their passion for explosives, due to their similar personalities, likely helped by Yoimiya being a FriendToAllChildren. It's to the point that they're able to make the most out of the Festival by writing a book about Dodoco together and submitting it to get published.
* BornLucky: The Knights certainly think so, considering not once was she harmed by her own bombs, in addition to a FourLeafClover motif. Not even [[TheJinx Bennett]] can make her day a bad one since Klee finds more treasure when she goes on adventures with him. She also usually gets away with blowing things up, only getting sent to solitary confinement for a few days as a consequence.
* ButtMonkey: Spends her time locked up and teased by Kaeya when not.
* CheerfulChild: Like any other child, Klee is a cheerful, happy little girl... who likes to blow things up.
* ChekhovsGun: There's an excavation in the Whispering Woods marked with a treasure sign, but interacting with it does nothing. It is Klee’s buried treasure, and you must visit this area as a part of her Story Quest.
* ChildrenAreInnocent:
** She sometimes forgets that bombs can hurt, and when she does hurt (even if they meant harm), Klee becomes upset. While not a bad kid by nature, her unbound playfulness tends to result in her acting impulsively.
** Klee also has a habit of believing whatever people tell her, including Kaeya's jokes or lies.
** She believes [[{{Chuunibyou}} Fischl]]'s claims of being a princess from a mysterious kingdom, and justifiably so. The only two who also believe it are Bennett and Noelle.
* ChildSoldier: In a roundabout, well-intentioned means of protection, Klee is already a frontline warrior for the Knights in spite of her youth.
* CompanionCube: Klee has a stuffed doll named Dodoco that she treats like a real friend. The "Midsummer Island Adventure" event starts with Klee receiving a letter from the "Dodo-King" that they do not accept Klee as Dodoco's family.
* ColorMotifs: Red and white. The FlavorText of the "Wings of Feasting" Wind Glider states that her mother Alice had changed the original color (blue and white) to reflect her family's tastes.
* CrashIntoHello: How she and the Traveler first meet, with her running right into them when they leave Jean's office.
* CuteWitch: She dresses like one in her Blossoming Starlight Outfit to match her mage mother, Alice.
* TheCutie: RuleOfCute is firmly in effect for anything Klee does that does not involve blowing things up, and even then, she often fights with ''explosive stuffed animals''.
* DamageIncreasingDebuff: Klee's second Constellation upgrade, ''Explosive Frags'', allows her Skill's mines to inflict a 23% Defense penalty for ten seconds.
* ADayInTheLimelight: The "Midsummer Island Adventure" event centers around her adventures in the Golden Apple Archipelago.
* DemolitionsExpert: She has a unique talent for creating magical explosives. Unfortunately, she is reckless with them.
* DisappearedDad: In addition to the situation with Alice, little has been made of Klee's father apart from vague statements that "he exists" and was involved in his daughter's stay with the Knights (though other sources make it sound it was wholly Alice's idea), though her voice lines clarifies that he is an adventurer like her mother, while her fifth Character Story implies he and Alice are journeying.
* DowsingDevice: Her utility passive, ''All of My Treasures!'', displays the location of Mondstadt-exclusive Regional Specialties on the minimap.
* TheDreaded: {{Subverted|Trope}}. Even though Klee is feared by Mondstadters as a PersonOfMassDestruction on par with Alice, she cannot even hope to be compared to her. Every time Klee destroys something, Albedo reminds himself that her sheer power is nothing compared to her mother.
* DubPronunciationChange: In the German-themed nation of Mondstadt, Klee's name should be pronounced like "kleh" since it's the German word for "clover." The Japanese and Korean dubs follow suit, but the English and Chinese dubs pronounced it like "tree".
* ElementalPersonalities: Klee is a cute, energetic girl who, appropiately enough for [[MadBomber her bomb-making antics]], holds a [[PlayingWithFire Pyro]] Vision. [[PlayingWithATrope Played with]] in that her powers manifest more as [[HavingABlast explosive]] rather than outright fire-elemental.
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: She was already a knowledgeable bomb-maker before she got her Vision.
* EnergyWeapon: The charged form of her Normal Attack shoots lasers that create strong explosions on impact, while her Burst lets her summon laser "drones" for ten seconds. Her first constellation upgrade, ''Chained Reactions'', gives the combo form of her Normal Attack a chance to be augmented with a laser attack with damage worth 120% of that launched by her Burst (starting at 0%, with an 8% increment whenever the attack fails to summon a laser, which will then be reset once she succeeds in doing so).
* {{Foreshadowing}}: During Razor's Story Quest, he mentions a "burny girl" who sometimes helps him hunt, who Paimon assumes is Amber. Amber makes it clear she has never even heard of Razor, leaving Paimon and the Traveler confused as to who he is talking about. Klee's Story Quest becomes available at Adventure Rank 32, and her banner released just under a month after the game's launch.
* FreeRangeChildren: Klee has a remarkable degree of latitude and responsibility for a child. Even her profile notes it is unusual.
-->"While other Mondstadt children her age are still playing with regular toys, Klee's favorite toys are... live explosives."
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: For all of Klee's talk about how she will receive harsh punishments for using her explosives within Mondstadt proper, she can hurl bombs all over the city, even in front of other Knights, without consequence. Her Skill is even one of the few that people will applaud to instead of being startled at.
* GenkiGirl: She is a hyperactive ball of energy and cheerfulness.
* GirlishPigtails: She wears her hair in pigtails, and while [[VagueAge it is unclear exactly how old she is supposed to be]], they still fit her childlike and innocent nature.
* GirlsLoveStuffedAnimals: She loves stuffed dolls, considers them her treasures. One such toy, named "Dodoco," was made by Alice as her companion and is attached to her backpack. All other toys, meanwhile, are also ''[[MadBomber explosive]]''.
* GlassCannon: The damage a well-built Klee can do is among the highest in the game, but her Defense and HP are too low to give her a good chance of survival if surviving enemies manage to hit her multiple times.
* GooGooGodlike: Though she looks and acts [[VagueAge like a child]], Klee is one of the most powerful Vision holders in Mondstadt, rivaling Diluc, Eula, Kaeya, and Jean. The latter two must keep a close eye on her to prevent her from accidentally hurting or killing someone with her explosives. Her Vision story states that she got it at an early age.
* GoToYourRoom: If Jean finds out that Klee's day [[{{Pun}} has been a blast]], Klee will usually be sent to solitary confinement. However, she [[AesopAmnesia never seems to learn]].
* HavingABlast: Her [[PlayingWithFire Pyro]] powers manifest in the form of lobbing bombs and firing lasers, either through her Normal Attack or her Elemental Talents.[[note]]Her Normal Attack has damage multipliers of 74.827–142.47% (average) for the 3-hit combo form, 157.36–299.61% for the charged form, and standard values for the plunging form[[/note]] Her fourth Constellation upgrade, ''Sparkly Explosion'', allows her Burst to end with a literal bang whenever she is immediately switched out, dealing wide-ranging Pyro damage worth 555% of her Attack stat.
* HeroWorship: Despite constantly being disciplined by Jean, Klee clearly idolizes her, even calling her "Master Jean".
-->''(About Jean) "Master Jean is the best!"''
* HiddenDepths: Aside from bombs, Klee also likes to draw, something that her Character Introduction video shows.
* IdiotHair: Klee sports a prominent cowlick on the right side of her haircut, making it one of the first cues that you are in for a real treat with Klee's explosive shenanigans.
* InsistentTerminology: Klee's wrongdoings and subsequent punishments are always described in terms of criminal offenses and sentences, even when in practice things aren't nearly as serious. For example, Jean will sentence her to solitary confinement for damaging public property (i.e., grounded for throwing bombs on Starfell Lake again).
* InternalHomage: Like many of the other Mondstadt characters, [[https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/gensin-impact/images/8/83/Party_Setup_Klee.gif/revision/latest?cb=20230817020016 her unique Party Setup animation is a reference to her portrait]], albeit with her holding a Jumpy Dumpty.
* JerkassToOne: [[DownplayedTrope "Jerkass" is stretching it]], but unlike almost everyone else in her voice lines, who she refers to as "the best," she sees Diluc as one of the weird grown-ups due to him being a PerpetualFrowner.
* LikeMotherLikeDaughter: While Alice has yet to appear in-person as of writing (v4.5), some characters and flavor text note that Klee inherited her mother's enthusiastic, if rather destructive, personality:
** The ''Teyvat Travel Guide'' series that she wrote shows that she can be [[PersonOfMassDestruction very destructive]].
--->'''Teyvat Travel Guide - Mondstadt''': "Yet another forest in Mondstadt. This Outrider named Amber seemed to know her way around this place. The explosive toy she carried around caught my attention. With some tweaks, I could turn it into something that could blow this forest and even the nearby mountains into smithereens easily. My proposal seemed to scare her. But an explosive stuffed toy is indeed a brilliant idea. I must try it out next time."
** In Klee's profile, when Jean is looking at a stack of damage reports, she muses ''ad verbum'' that "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."
** Alice explicitly encouraged Klee's tendencies and both got reprimanded by the Knights.
--->"Whether it's the way she used to guide Klee step-by-step through the techniques for adding gunpowder and selecting fuses, or the encouragement she'd give Klee to express her creativity through ever-bolder and more beautiful fireworks..."\
"Or that time she taught her how to identity Starsnatch Cliff's load-bearing points, then place explosive charges accordingly to bring the whole thing down..."\
"Or that time they stuck their tongues out at each other awkwardly while being told off by Huffman of the Knights of Favonius..."
** Even Klee's Vision entry notes her similarity to Alice.
--->"Was it her talent and passion for explosives, the individualistic nature she got from her mother, or her shining innocence?"
** Albedo says in his line about her that while she is destructive, it's nothing compared to what Alice can do.
* LittlePeople: Mixed with VagueAge; other characters refer to her as a child, but it's a bit unclear if her people (as the ears are an obvious giveaway she is not ''homo sapiens'') are naturally short. Either way, in practical terms she is only a bit taller than waist-height to most others. [[spoiler:In the Chinese and Japanese scripts for the "Midsummer Island Adventure" event, Klee is stated to be an elf.]]
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Her Character Story shows she was unaware of what Abyss Mages are because Jean grounded her during the Stormterror crisis and decided not to tell her because she was still young.
* MadBomber: She herself would assert that she is hardly a "mad" bomber. Her fellow Knights would probably ''debate'' that assertion. Either way, she certainly makes explosions and enjoys it.
* ManaDrain: Klee's fourth-ascension passive, ''Sparkling Burst'', restores 2 Energy to the party whenever the charged form of her Normal Attack lands critical hits.
* MeaningfulName: Her name is the German word for "clover," which is her flower motif and is also depicted on her Constellation.
* MightyGlacier: Klee has a decently large damage output only hampered by her short range and long animation times which require {{Lag Cancel}}s to extend her viability.
* MissingMom: Klee's entire situation stems from the fact that her biological mother, Alice, entrusted her daughter to the care of the Knights while she went off to do... something. As a result, Jean has had to step in as Klee's surrogate mother, and it has not been without friction (although Klee is incredibly happy in Mondstadt). Precisely what is going on with Alice is still a mystery. This is mitigated during the "Midsummer Island Adventure" event, when it is revealed that Alice still keeps watch over her daughter from a distance with her magic, and subverted come "Summer Fantasia," when Alice returns (albeit offscreen) to take Klee with her on a vacation, as well as visited Venti to ask him for a small favor to pass a device to the Traveler beforehand.
* NiceGirl: Klee may be [[PersonOfMassDestruction destructive]], but in [[ChildrenAreInnocent true childlike fashion]], she's a very friendly and energetic young girl with zero mean bones of her own. It goes to the point many people who aren't generally warm themselves will put aside their issues simply because of Klee's kindness, as shown in the "Secret Summer Paradise" event.
* TheNicknamer: Klee calls the Abyss Mage that stole her treasure "Mr. Fluffball."
* NightmareFetishist: She thinks Abyss Mages are cute, and who thinks ''[[MadBomber explosive stuffed animals]]'' are a promising idea? Her final ascension voice line has her saying that the sound of explosions does not scare her at all, and she only realized later that it is not supposed to be normal.
* NoSell: PlayedForLaughs in her trial domain, in a corridor with moving laser-beam obstacles. Most characters would need to dodge them, but Klee is so short that she can just ''walk under them''.
* OddFriendship: With Razor. Even though she occasionally ''sets his mountain home on fire'', Razor is sharp enough to realize she does not have a malicious bone in her body and gets along with her well enough (when she is not chasing the boars away, at least).
* ParentalSubstitute: As noted in Jean's entry, in the absence of Alice, she had to serve as a mother figure for Klee. In addition, Albedo acts as her older-brother figure, so he must also "most of his energy" watching Klee. ([[NoOSHACompliance And he also gives her gunpowder on occasion.]])
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Klee is the reason the Stormbearer Mountains look more like cliffs nowadays, [[BullyingADragon hence Jean's (relative) lenience towards her]].
* PintsizedPowerhouse: Klee's tiny frame belies one of the most powerful Knights of Favonius. Moreover, the charged form of her Normal Attacks is one of the few moves with a high enough flinching potency to knock over foes which tower over her, even Stonehide Lawachurls.
* PlayingWithFire: Played with; she has a Pyro Vision, but her powers lean more into HavingABlast due to her ability to create bombs through her Catayst.
* PointyEars: Klee has elf-like ears, a sign that she may not be a "normal" human.
* RecursiveAmmo: Her Skill has her lob a bomb that splits itself into explosive mines after bouncing twice.
* RedBaron: She's known as the "Spark Knight" and the "Fleeing Sunlight".
* ReducedManaCost: A variant--Klee's first-ascension passive, ''Pounding Surprise'', gives both the combo form of her Normal Attack and Skill a 50% chance to obtain a stack of Explosive Spark which are then consumed to negate the Stamina cost of her next charged attack, as well as increase its damage potency by 50%.
* RegeneratingMana: Her sixth Constellation upgrade, ''Blazing Delight'', regenerates 3 Energy for her allies every three seconds while her Burst is active (hence a total of 9 energy for each character given its ten-second-long duration), in addition to a 10% boost to the party's Pyro Damage Bonus for ten seconds once the Burst ends.
* RegionalRedecoration: Four of the playable characters are known to have drastically changed the landscape of Teyvat. The other three are Archons; Klee isn't. She created a cliff and changed how boats must go to make port in Mondstadt.
* RunningGag: ''Almost'' everyone is "the best", or so says Klee in her voice-overs about other characters[[labelnote:*]]The only ones to not be called such are Razor, Albedo (both of who she still praises) and [[JerkassToOne Diluc]][[/labelnote]].
* SentimentalHomemadeToy: Klee goes nowhere without Dodoco, a doll Alice made for her. The "Midsummer Island Adventure" event involves a "Dodo-king" threatening to take Dodoco away from Klee as she is not worthy... which turns out to be a role-playing session made by Alice for her little girl and her friends.
* SlidingScaleOfGameplayAndStoryIntegration:
** Klee's charged attack and Skill can blow up fish, which makes them much easier to gather. This encourages players to allow her to pursue her favorite pastime, as gathering fish the normal way can be a big chore.
** There are anecdotes about Klee bombing the Stormbearer Mountains into resembling a cliff nowadays; gameplay-wise, Klee's bombs deal a ''lot'' of damage to ore veins, enemy Geo constructs, and the armor of lawachurls.
** One of Klee's Talent Ascension materials is a drop from Andrius, the wolf-god of Wolvendom, where one of her big-brother figures, Razor, lives. Humorously, the valley also happens to be a frequent victim of her MadBomber antics.
** She and her big-brother figure Albedo are close to each other, which is somewhat reflected in that both their Ascension stats are Elemental Damage Bonus percentages for their respective elements (i.e., Pyro), complete with identical values (7.2–28.8%).
* TheresNoKillLikeOverkill: Razor offhandedly mentions a time she tried to help him hunt. Judging from his comments about setting Wolvendom ablaze, you can guess what she did.
* ThirdPersonPerson: Klee talks in third person because she is a kid.
* ThrowDownTheBomblet: While her equipped weapon type is catalysts, she uses it to produce bombs to throw at enemies, either through the combo form of her Normal Attack or her Skill.
* TokenMiniMoe: Klee is the smallest among the playable Knights of Favonius, as well as among the Mondstadt cast (though unlike Diona, she is implicitly older chronologically).
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: She absolutely loves grilled fish, and that is why she loves fish bombing.
* TrapMaster: Her Skill allows her to lob bunny-shaped bombs (up to twice in succession) which, after bouncing twice, disperses into eight smaller bombs that explode and deal wide-ranging Pyro damage either after fifteen seconds have passed or whenever they come into contact with enemies.[[note]]With damage multipliers of 95.2–214.2% for the bounce and 32.8–73.8% for the mines[[/note]]
* TrojanHorse: Happens ''accidentally'' during her Story Quest, when her rumored "powerful treasure" gets stolen by an Abyss Mage. As it gloats about how it is going to use the treasure to destroy her, it explodes, killing it. Because [[MadBomber almost everything Klee owns is a bomb]].
* UnflinchingWalk: Near the end of her [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-VnFQvCLDc Character Introduction PV]], Klee walks forward in slow-motion as her drones and bombs spray fire, blowing up the enemies behind her.
* UnwantedAssistance: Tried to help Razor hunt boars on at least one occasion. His comment about his friend setting Wolvendom on fire says it all.
* UpgradeArtifact: A variant--her third and fifth Constellation upgrades, ''Exquisite Compound'' and ''Nova Burst'', increase the talent levels of, respectively, her Skill and Burst by three.
* VagueAge: While Klee looks like a child, her chronological age is a bit more ambiguous due to her being revealed to be [[spoiler:part of a long-lived race, with no indication as to whether or not she ages at the same rate human children do]].
* WeaponSpecialization
** Klee is loosely associated with the Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds (5★), which usually runs alongside her Wish banner. Its Ascension substat is Critical Rate (7.2–33.1%), and its "Boundless Blessing" passive increases its wielder's movement speed by 10% and increases Elemental Damage Bonus by 8–16% for every four seconds they are in combat, which can stack up to four times (hence a maximum of 32–64%) and lasts throughout the battle. This helps gradually increase the destructive potency of her bombs.
** The "Midsummer Island Adventure" event, where Klee is the focus character, introduces the Dodoco Tales (4★). Apart from being aesthetically matched to her fashion sense, as well as appearing to wield it for her Genius Invokation TCG Character Card, gameplay-wise it is also tailor-made for her, with its Ascension passive being Attack (12–55.1%), and whose "Dodoventure!" passive allows the combo forms of Normal Attack styles to increase the potency of charged forms by 16–32%, as well as allows such moves to increase its wielder's Attack stat by 8–16%, both for six seconds. This incentivizes Klee alternating between launching bombs and firing lasers.
* WillfullyWeak: Klee is constantly paranoid about getting grounded by Jean if she goes overboard with her explosives. As shown by some of her bombs being able to break mitachurl shields in the "Midsummer Island Adventure" event, the bombs she uses during gameplay are far from her best.
* WrongContextMagic: Other Vision holders do a combination of infusing a bladed weapon or arrow with their element, and directly bombarding the enemy with the element; Catalyst-wielders do only the latter. Klee technically wields a catalyst, but only uses it to produce ''magical bombs''. Explosives are not common in Teyvat; the others we have seen are living bombs made of Pyro Slimes, and Overload reactions, which require both Pyro and Electro (no one besides the Traveler can control multiple elements). Klee has not revealed her bomb-building secret, though the game hints that it comes from her mother.

'''Constellation:''' Tempus Fugit, the Hourglass\

Head librarian of the Knights, a powerful mage, and a star alumna of the Akademiya in Sumeru, the most prestigious institute of learning in Teyvat. Her mellow, narcoleptic disposition belies a woman who takes her job seriously, down to intimidating anyone who overextends their book rentals. Despite her quirks, she proves a reliable enough ally during the Traveler's stay in Mondstadt, helping them during the "Stormterror" incident.\
\
Lisa gracefully casts thunderbolts at her foes from a safe distance, with a particular specialization in strategic use of her Elemental Skill, ''Violet Arc'', where she hurls electric orbs at opponents that mark them with up to three Conductive stacks, which increase damage taken when she conjures a massive thunderbolt on surrounding enemies through the held form of said Skill, while her Elemental Burst, ''Lightning Rose'', sets up a floating lantern that zaps foes that come too close one at a time.
[[note]]When fully upgraded, she can now inflict Conductive marks with her the charged form of her Normal Attack style, as well as automatically impose three stacks on surrounding foes whenever she is switched in; the held form of her Skill can now restore Energy whenever she hits enemies, as well as boost her Defense and flinching resistance while charging; and her Burst can now inflict a Defense penalty, as well as zap up to three foes at a time.[[/note]]
----
* AbsurdPhobia: According to her "Least Favorite Food" voice-line, she's afraid of pumpkins.
* AffectionateNickname: She refers to anyone she likes, particularly the Traveler, as "cutie."
* AmbiguouslyBi: She flirts with the Traveler regardless of gender, constantly gushing about how cute they are. Her Story Quest involves tracking down overdue books, though she repeatedly describes it as a date, and there are dating sim-like actions the player must take, such as taking her out for lunch and buying a gift for her.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Lisa is comfortable to be around, but she takes her job as librarian seriously; if you borrow a book from her library, return it on time lest ''[[ScaryLibrarian she track you down]]''.
* BlackMage: Her abilities consist of dealing wide-ranging Electro damage.
* BoltOfDivineRetribution: The charged form of her Skill brings down a thunderbolt on surrounding foes, with increased damage depending on the number of Conductive stacks.
* BrilliantButLazy: Lisa may be a distinguished alumna of the Akademiya, but she's incredibly lazy, loves to take naps, and only shows efficiency if it means she can get back to slacking off sooner. Some of Albedo and Diluc's voice express disappointment that such a brilliant mind opts to remain a mere librarian.
-->'''Diluc:''' ''(About Lisa)'' "I believe Lisa has the potential to become the most reliable of the knights. ''If'' she's willing."
* BrokenAce: According to her old mentors and peers at the Akademiya, Lisa was their best student in two centuries, having graduated from the Spantamad Darshan in just ''two years'' (as told by Layla's voice-over for her). However, her peers' insatiable lust for knowledge left her jaded, and she returned home immediately for a more sedentary life as librarian. She's still one of the Knights' most powerful staff, but [[RetiredBadass isn't active in the lines of defense]], nor is it something she brags about.
* ButThouMust: Her Story Quest forces the Traveler to take her on a date and trying to turn her down will not allow players to advance her story.
* CameraFiend: She used to be one when being mentored by Cyrus with Cyno.
* CleavageWindow: Her dress has a wide neckline.
* CoolBigSis: In the Japanese dub, Lisa refers to herself as "onee-san" when speaking to the Traveler and dotes on them. The Traveler also notes that her relationship with Amber is like that of sisters.
* CrazyPrepared: She leaves elemental traces on the library's books just in case the borrower lost them so she can quickly track them back down. She may be lazy, but she does take her job seriously.
* CripplingOverspecialization: Lisa is good for quick 'n' dirty Elemental Reactions, and if you get her Elemental Mastery stat high enough (helped by the fact that this is also her Ascension stat [24–96 points]), she can chew through enemies' HP bars in seconds when paired with other characters who can facilitate reactions in a matter of seconds. On her own, Lisa runs into issues with her durability and long cooldown times.
* CustomUniformOfSexy: Her "A Sobriquet Under Shade" outfit was tailored to resemble the uniform she wore when she attended the Akademiya. Needless to say, it's a lot more fanservice-heavy than the uniforms the players see the current Akademiya attendants walking around in, as it emphasizes her breasts and legs in [[MsFanservice Lisa-like]] fashion.
* DamageIncreasingDebuff:
** The base form of her Skill launches electric orbs that home in on enemies and, upon contact, deals wide-ranging damage and inflicts a Conductive stack on the target, of which up to three can be stacked per enemy, which increases the damage potency of the Skill's charged form; as the base and charged forms have cooldown times of, respectively, one and sixteen seconds, players are incentivized to master applying Conductive stacks first before unleashing the charged form.[[note]]With damage multipliers of 80–170% for its base form and (320/368/424/487.2)–(680/782/901/1035.3)% for its charged form (if the target has 0/1/2/3 Conductive stacks)[[/note]] Her first-ascension passive, ''Induced Aftershock'', allows the charged form of Lisa's Normal Attack, ''Lightning Touch'', to inflict one stack on enemies struck, while her sixth Constellation upgrade, ''Pulsating Witch'', automatically inflicts three stacks on surrounding foes (within at least five-second intervals) whenever she is switched in.
** Lisa's fourth-ascension passive, ''Static Electricity Field'', grants her Burst the ability to inflict a 15% Defense penalty on enemies struck for ten seconds.
* DecliningPromotion: Varka tried to appoint Lisa as Captain of the Eighth Company. She declined it and continues to do so every time the Grand Master sends her a referral, simply because that'd mean more work.
* DifficultButAwesome: For a long time, Lisa was of limited use compared to other Electro Vision holders due to her fighting style rendering her immobile for long periods of time, which combined with her poor durability makes her difficult to use properly. That said, she has a distinct niche on Aggravate-oriented teams, where her extremely frequent Electro application allows her to keep extending the reaction's duration. Compared to other Electro DPS units, her attacks have a wide radius, which can make her valuable for crowd control. Her animations are still a problem, but a skilled player who knows how to cancel them at the right time can make short work of opponents.
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Lisa's climbing sounds are infamous both within and outside of the fandom at this point.
* FamedInStory: She's considered legendary under the Spantamad Darshan for having graduated only two years after enrolling.
* FighterMageThief: Of the three {{Starter Mon}}s, Lisa is the Mage, specializing in damaging enemies from a safe distance and whose off-battle passive improves the party's efficiency in crafting elemental potions.
* FlowerMotifs: Purple roses, based on Sumeru Roses (although "Rose" is actually a [[NonIndicativeName misnomer]]). She is known as the "Witch of Purple Rose" and the name of her default outfit is "Purple Rose," which features the flower on her hat, hair tie, belt, the patterns on her dress, and magic effects. Her "Sobriquet Under Shade" alternate outfit swaps her side ponytail for twin braids tied with purple roses, and features the flower pattern on both sides of her coat tails. She also holds a purple rose in one of her idle animations.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: If you give her roses during your "date" with her, she'll state that in some places, such as where the Traveler may have come from, [[FlowersOfRomance roses symbolize love]], but in Mondstadt they represent secrets, in particular her disillusionment with her ''alma mater''.
** When she had gotten her Vision, she had studied it, and says that she discovered a dark secret about Visions. [[spoiler:Neuvillette would reveal that this dark secret is that Visions are fragments of the elemental authorities of the Sovereigns whose powers were usurped by the Primordial One.]]
* GeniusDitz: During her Akademiya days, the first question she asked was if Hydro Slimes turn into Dough Slimes if one puts enough flour. She then became their best student in two hundred years.
* HerdHittingAttack: Both her charged Normal Attack and Skill hit foes over a wide area.[[note]]Her Normal Attacks' damage multipliers are 43.32–82.48% (average) for the 4-hit combo form, 177.12–337.24% for the charged form, and standard values for the plunging form[[/note]]
* HiddenDepths: Aside from being BrilliantButLazy, Lisa was a talented mage before settling down as librarian. In one of her Ascension lines, she wonders what might happen if she recovers her "full power" and mutters to herself that she hopes you'll be there when... [[PowerIncontinence "something"]] happens.
* HomingProjectile: The base form of her Skill shoots a small electric orb that homes onto enemies. The projectile is weak, but it has a low cooldown, imposes the Conductive debuff which increases their damage from the Skill's charged form, and is sufficient for triggering elemental reactions.
* HotLibrarian: She's a librarian that has a lot of {{fanservice}} tropes attached to her. She's never been seen with the typical glasses, however.
* HotWitch: She has a very curvy figure that her outfit draws attention to, and fits the standard witch appearance to a T.
* ImmuneToFlinching: Her second Constellation upgrade, ''Electromagnetic Field'', reduces the risk of interruption while charging up her Skill, in addition to a 25% Defense boost in the meantime.
* InformedFlaw: Diona complains that Lisa is a drinker, but she's never depicted as enjoying anything but tea in the game. And when she shows up inside Angel's Share with Jean in the "Of Drink A-Dreaming" event, she only orders a non-alcoholic, tea-based beverage. Lisa is finally shown drinking at the second floor of Good Hunter during the "Of Ballads and Brews" event, but considering the event takes place during Weinlesefest, which is specifically dedicated to wine, it could be that she's only drinking because of the occasion.
* InstantRunes: Purple runes briefly appear during her Normal Attack combos, and a larger one for its charged form.
* JackBauerInterrogationTechnique: In her Story Quest, Lisa zaps a captured Abyss Mage until they spill the beans about why they stole a book from the library.
* LadyOfBlackMagic: She's an elegant Catalyst user who wields powerful Electro magic that was supposedly even more devastating before the Traveler met her.
* LetsGetDangerous: {{Invoked|Trope}} in her Ascension lines, where she lampshades her days as a RetiredBadass until she's fully ascended, where for once, she decides to show her full power.
-->''(Feelings About Ascension: Conclusion) "I've already tried to persuade you every way possible... *(sigh)* Have it your way, cutie. I can no longer go on pretending at this point -- even a Hilichurl would see through the act. So be it, [[BadassBoast let me introduce you to the true Witch of Purple Rose]]."''
* MagicCauldron: Her Character Story mentions how she made her own cauldron in two weeks for a considerable sum of Mora, which can heat substances with immaculate precision. [[MundaneUtility She uses it to brew her tea.]]
* MagicLibrarian: Lisa is the Knights' librarian and possesses an Electro Vision.
* TheMagnificent: She's called [[AlliterativeName "Lisa the Librarian"]].
* TheMentor: She's the one who taught Razor how to use his Electro Vision and helped him improve his ability to speak human language.
* MirrorCharacter:
** She has a lot of similarities with [[Characters/GenshinImpactAlhaitham Alhaitham]]. Both are star alumni of the Akademiya who chose low-key positions as librarians.[[note]]Alhaitham's title of "Scribe" is but a fancy name for a file clerk[[/note]] The difference between them is the motivations behind these lifestyles: Lisa immediately returned to Mondstadt after graduation due to a combination of disillusionment with her peers' bad practices and her desire for an easygoing life, while Alhaitham only wants quietude, describes himself as a man with few ambitions, and [[spoiler:was one of the driving forces for overthrowing his superiors in the Sumeru Archon Quest]].
** To [[Characters/GenshinImpactYaeMiko Yae Miko]] as well. Both are sultry Electro Vision holders with flirty personalities, love for tea breaks, and professions related to books (Miko being an editor-in-chief) which they love despite their monotony.
* ModestyShorts: Visibly wears a pair below her dress, which is a good thing given her dress' slits go way above her hips.
* MsFanservice: Like Mona, Lisa is one of the stand-out examples of the initial line-up. As explained in HotWitch above, Lisa has a curvy appearance, wearing a dress whose slits go above her hips and leave both legs exposed, its cleavage drawing attention to her large, bouncy breasts, and her thigh-highs [[ZettaiRyouiki emphasizing her legs]]; coupled with this is [[ArousedByTheirVoice her flirtatious voice]] and being TheTease. Even [[CustomUniformOfSexy her alternate outfit isn't exempt]], baring Lisa's legs and thus being more fanservice-heavy than the standard Akademiya uniform. The Japanese dub gets bonus points thanks to Creator/RieTanaka leaning into the "ara ara" anime character archetype.
* NiceGirl: Lisa is carefree and approachable on a regular basis, and even refers to people she likes with pet names (such as calling the Traveler "cutie"). She says the Traveler is special to her, and other characters she has mentored like Razor also talk about her friendliness.
* NotAMorningPerson: Mornings are "unacceptable hours" for visiting Lisa because she's usually still sleeping at that time of the day, enough to confuse the Traveler for someone else.
-->''(Good Morning) "*(yawn)* Good morning, Jean... Oh, it's you! Sorry, dear."''
* PowerStereotypeFlip: An [[ShockAndAwe Electro]] Vision owner... who's BrilliantButLazy. And we mean ''pretty'' lazy.
* PurpleIsPowerful: She was formerly known as the Witch of Purple Rose, and going off of her character story and a few of her voice lines, the Lisa we know is only at a fraction of her original power.
* RedBaron: If the Traveler gets her a rose during her NotADate quest, she reveals that she was once known as the Purple Rose Witch. Razor's "Vision" story also mentioned a similar title (Witch of Purple Rose) when she mentored him on how to use his Electro powers.
* RegeneratingMana: Her first Constellation upgrade, ''Infinite Circuit'', restores 2 Energy for every enemy hit with the charged form of her Skill (to a maximum of 10 points at a time, equivalent to at least five enemies).
* ResourceReimbursement: Her utility passive, ''General Pharmaceutics'', gives her a 20% chance to refund materials when crafting potions.
* RetiredBadass: She's a powerful witch that masterfully wields Electro, but is BrilliantButLazy and currently dedicates herself as a librarian. She lampshades it in her Asecnsion lines, until ascended to full power where, for once, she decides to [[LetsGetDangerous drop the act]].
* RobeAndWizardHat: She wears a purple witch hat and a long, purple dress with gold and white accents.
* RuleOfSymbolism: Her Constellation's name literally means "fleeting time" and depicts an hourglass, befitting one of the most sedentary Knights of Favonius as well as, gameplay-wise, hinting at timing her attacks well to make the most out of her kit.
* {{Sadist}}: PlayedForLaughs. During the "Windblume Festival" event, Jean chides Lisa about how [[LampshadeHanging she seems to like zapping publicly intoxicated citizens]] a little ''too'' much.
* ScaryLibrarian: Her naptime and "dates" with the Traveler could be mistaken as slacking off, but as Paimon notes and as shown in her Story Quest, there's a reason why Mondstadters fear her visits for overdue books. She takes it ''very'' seriously, even if she has to venture into an Abyss Order hideout just to take back a children's storybook.
* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: Lisa's casual way of flirting combined with her [[{{Pun}} stunning]] good looks make her this.
* ShipperOnDeck: How much she actually ships them is unknown, but she finds the Traveler and Jean going out for a balcony meeting very romantic.
* ShockAndAwe: An Electro Vision user who takes this trope to a more literal degree thanks to being a Catalyst user and who in her heyday was one of the Akademiya's finest alumnae. She's still nasty with those electric powers though, and she was also TheMentor to Razor on how to wield and control them.
* SkewedPriorities: Sloth aside, when Lisa takes her job seriously, she will do so for strange reasons. In her Story Quest, she pursues the Abyss Mage who stole a book not so much out of fear that the Order will try to find anything they could use against Mondstadt as much as the fact that it is overdue. During the 2021 Windblume Festival, she takes immense pleasure in electrocuting troublemaking drunkards on her patrols not so much for disciplinary actions as much as [[ItAmusedMe her her amusement]].
* {{Sleepyhead}}: Lisa tends to nod off at any given opportunity, and can never get enough of it.
* SlidingScaleOfGameplayAndStoryIntegration:
** Lisa gets the most work done when creating Elemental Reactions, and her charged attacks work best when something else occupies enemy attention. The BrilliantButLazy librarian prefers that half the work is done by somebody else.
** In her Akademiya years, Lisa was enrolled at the Spantamad Darshan, the faculty of the Akademiya specializing in researching the elements. Fittingly, her utility passive allows her to [[ResourceReimbursement refund some materials used in crafting potions]] that enhance the party's elemental damage or resistance.
* SquishyWizard: Like all Catalyst units, her Defense is low, which means you have to get good at dodging. This is a problem if you're relying on her charged Normal Attack and Skill, so it's a good idea to prioritize Elemental Mastery and Critical Rate so she doesn't have to constantly switch between standing still and sprinting out of the way. Lampshaded by the game, where her bio describes her as languid, and she displays a heavier breathing than other characters when climbing.
* StacysMom: She doesn't have a canon age, but it can be inferred that she's an older lady, which applies this trope both in-game with the Traveler and in the fandom with her fans, male or [[EvenTheGirlsWantHer female]].
* TheTease: Lisa is a flirtatious person who calls her friends "cutie" or "honey."
* TheTurretmaster: Her Burst deploys a stationary lantern, which for the next fifteen seconds periodically zaps nearby enemies one at a time.[[note]]With a 36.56–82.3% damage multiplier per discharge[[/note]] Her fourth Constellation upgrade, ''Plasma Eruption'', allows it to add up to three extra thunderbolts.
* UpgradeArtifact: A variant--her third and fifth Constellation upgrades, ''Resonant Thunder'' and ''Electrocute'', add three levels to, respectively, her Burst and Skill.
* WeatherManipulation: The charged form of her Skill allows her to darken the entire sky with purple storm clouds before casting down powerful lightning on enemies.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatPerks: Lisa received her Vision simply by pondering if she could receive it as a means to uncover the secrets of the gods and magic. However, the more she wondered what the price to pay and the responsibilities to fulfill in exchange for this gift were, the more terrified she became of discovering the answer.

\
Mika charts his party's path to victory by alternating between spear and crossbow as well as providing rear support. His Elemental Skill, ''Starfrost Swirl'', fires Cryo-enhanced bolts--Flowfrost Arrow in tapped form, which hits all foes in its path, or Rimestar Flare in held form, which upon contact flies up and disperses into Rimestar Shards that hit up to three nearby foes--and at the same time bestow the "Soulwind" effect onto the party, which increases their attacking speed. His Elemental Burst, ''Skyfeather Song'', heals the party and summons an Eagleplume that heals the active character whenever they hit enemies.[[note]]When fully upgraded, the Soulwind effect can now build up to four stacks of Detector, which boost the active character's Physical damage, whenever Mika's Skill connects, as well as reduce the interval between the healing bursts of the Eagleplume, which in turn can now restore Mika's Energy up to five times whenever it heals the active character; and both states being active at once can now build one stack of Detector whenever the active character lands critical hits, as well as boost their Critical Damage.[[/note]]
----
* TheAce: Takes his job as a member of the Reconnaissance Company very seriously and is praised by others for his diligence and efficiency in performing each task that gets assigned to him.
* AnimalMotifs: The wood pigeon, as evidenced by the name of his Constellation, his outfit design, and Vision powers. The tuft of hair on top of his head also resembles a feather.
* ArmyScout: As land surveyor for the Knights, he is in charge of scouting and mapping out uncharted areas. Fittingly, his utility passive, ''Demarcation'', displays the location of Mondstadt-exclusive Regional Specialties on the minimap.
* BowsAndErrors: One of his idle animations has him drawing his crossbow string as hard as possible and loosing it, ''all without a bolt loaded''. It would damage the crossbow in real life.
* BowAndSwordInAccord: Mika is a polearm user who also uses a crossbow for his Elemental Skill and the fourth strike of the five-hit combo form of his Normal Attack style, ''Spear of Favonius - Arrow's Passage''.[[note]]His Normal Attack has damage multipliers of 53.07–112.32% (average) for the 5-hit combo form, 112.75% for the charged form, and standard values for the plunging form[[/note]]
* CantHoldHisLiquor: A single sip of alcohol is enough to knock him out, to the point that even its smell will render him dizzy. Justified, as he isn't yet of drinking age.
* ChildSoldier: He is relatively young and is a surveyor for the Knights of Favonius.
* GatheringSteam: Mika's first-ascension passive, ''Suppressive Barrage'', allows the Soulwind state to gather up to three stacks of Detector, which increase the active character's Physical Damage by 10% apiece (hence a maximum 30%) whenever either form of his Skill hits more than one enemy (i.e., at least two with Flowfrost Arrow or one with Rimestar Flares). Three other upgrades improve on the stacks: his fourth-ascension passive, ''Topographical Mapping'', builds one stack whenever the active character lands a critical hit while Soulwind and the Eagleplume are simultaneously active; his second Constellation upgrade, ''Companion's Ingress'', reduces the enemy quota of either form of his Skill to at least one; and his sixth, ''Companion's Counsel'', allows him to gather a fourth stack (hence increasing the potential boost to 40%) as well as gives the Soulwind state a 60% boost to Critical Damage.
* HealingFactor: His Burst instantly heals the party and confers upon the active character an Eagleplume for fifteen seconds that restores their HP whenever they hit enemies (within at least 2.5-second intervals), with its potency based on a fraction of Mika's Max HP, which is further helped by his Ascension stat of Max HP percentage (6–24%).[[note]]With a healing potency of (12.17–25.86% Max HP)+(1172.0355–3223.3828) for the initial burst and (2.43–5.17% HP)+(233.95428–643.4312) for the Eagleplume[[/note]]
* IdiotHair: Mika has a tuft of hair curling upward. It is not the most noticeable one, so it mostly undercuts his attempts to be presentable and makes him look inexperienced next to other Knights.
* MatureYoungerSibling: According to Lisa's voice line about him, Mika takes care of things around the house and looks after his older brother Huffman whenever he's drunk.
* NerdyNasalness: He's passionate about his job as a cartographer, and in the English dub Robb Moreira gives him this kind of voice to match his enthusiasm, as well as to emphasize his youthfulness.
* NervousWreck: He has a difficult time reading Varka's letter to the Knights. Then he acts completely flustered when he first meets the Traveler, telling them to excuse him while he reports to Eula.
* RealMenEatMeat: He tells the player in his "Favorite Food" line that Varka has tried to instill this mindset in him so that he can grow strong, and he admits that he enjoys meat dishes.
* RegeneratingMana: Mika's fourth Constellation upgrade, ''Sunfrost Encomium'', restores 3 Energy for him whenever the Eagleplume heals the active character, up to five times per Eagleplume duration (hence a maximum 15 points).
* RememberTheNewGuy: He was never mentioned before v3.1, yet he was well known within the Knights before his appearance in the 2023 Weinlesefest event, which Paimon lampshades before he reads Varka's letter.
* ShrinkingViolet: A male example. Similarly to Sucrose, he's an incredibly shy person, obviously uncomfortable when talking to Kaeya and the Traveler when he sees them. He starts to grow out of it in his playable voice-overs, though.
* SlidingScaleOfGameplayAndStoryIntegration: Mika's utility passive, which allows players to detect regional specialties from Mondstadt on the mini-map, befits his position as surveyor. In addition, his ability to gather stacks of Detector, which increase Physical damage, makes him an excellent support for physical-oriented fighters like his superior Eula.
* SprintShoes: By default, the Soulwind state bestowed by his Skill provides a 13–25% attacking speed boost for the party. Mika's first Constellation upgrade, ''Factor Confluence'', gives the state the ability to reduce the interval between healing bursts provided by the Eagleplume based on the percentage of the aforementioned speed boost.
* StanceSystem: In addition to bestowing the Soulwind effect that increases the active party's attacking speed, his Skill fires different kinds of icy arrows--in its base form, Flowfrost Arrow, which automatically aims at a nearby foe; if charged, a stronger Rimestar Flare which he can manually aim, then fires down Rimestar Shards on up to three foes should it connect.[[note]]With damage multpliers of 67.2–142.8% for the Flowfrost Arrow, 84–178.5% for the Rimestar Flare, and 25.2–53.55% for Rimestar Shards[[/note]]
* StrongFamilyResemblance: {{Inverted|Trope}}. Mika looks nothing like Huffman, his brown-haired, brown-eyed older brother, making it difficult to tell their relationship to each other without reading the story. The fact that Mika has a unique character design while Huffman uses a generic Mondstadter model doesn't help.
* SupportPartyMember: His main gameplay role is to supply Energy, boost attacking speed and Physical damage of the active character, and heal the party.
* TranslatorBuddy: Much like Oz is to Fischl's "way" of speaking, he acts as a translator for Eula's choice of speech (that is, taking vengeance on anyone).
* UpgradeArtifact: A variant--his third and fifth Constellation upgrades, ''Reconnaissance Experience'' and ''Signal Arrow'', add three levels to, respectively, his Burst and Skill.

[-''"Bio-alchemy, when compared with creation, places more emphasis on transformation. Finding those little secrets that living creatures have and scaling them up, combining them — the results are always such a surprise. Life really is fascinating. Just how much do we really know?"''-]\

->'''Rarity:''' 4★\
'''Element:''' [[BlowYouAway Anemo]]\
'''Weapon:''' Catalyst\
'''Constellation:''' Ampulla, the Flask\

A bio-alchemist and assistant to Albedo. Sucrose strives to enrich the world through her research and has already made several contributions to her field, even as she struggles with self-confidence issues and yearns to one day reunite with her childhood friends through her creations.\
\
Sucrose puts Albedo's lessons to practice by creating butterfly-shaped Wind Spirits to suck in her foes before blowing them away, both through her Elemental Skill and Burst--respectively, ''Astable Anemohypostasis Creation - 6308'', where she instantly summons a small Spirit, and ''Forbidden Creation - Isomer 75 / Type II'', where she tosses a flask that draws foes into where it landed, as well as changes elements into either Hydro, Cryo, Pyro, or Electro depending on which is absorbed first.[[note]]When fully upgraded, Sucrose gains the ability to boost her allies' Elemental Mastery, either specifically for those whose Vision element matches those she triggers Swirl reactions with, or in general whenever either Elemental Talent hits enemies; she can now use her Skill up to twice in succession, as well as reduce its cooldown every seventh normal or charged attack; and her Burst can now boost the party's elemental damage depending on that it absorbs.[[/note]]
----
* AlchemyIsMagic: Sucrose specializes in bio-alchemy, making her capable of transforming living things with the power of alchemy. While the game hints that her abilities are creations of such a field (they have [[GiverOfLameNames long names just like Sucrose's specimens]]), they function like any other Anemo Talent in-game. She also has a utility passive that gives a chance to craft character and weapon ascension materials twice.
* AmbiguouslyHuman: Sucrose's ears are actually fluffy and not human ears as with most other characters. The undersides of her boots also have little paw prints on them that can be seen during her gliding animation. As of writing (v4.5), the exact species is still ambiguous, though it's made clear she's not related to Diona.
* BadassAdorable: Sucrose's appearance and personality make her one of the cutest characters. Despite her shyness, she's also not above putting her bioalchemy experiments to offensive use.
* BespectacledCutie: Has big round pince-nez, an adorable appearance, and a shy personality.
* BirdsOfAFeather: When she meets Collei for the first time during the 2023 Windblume Festival event, they become fast friends due to their [[ShrinkingViolet similar personalities]] and struggles with social interaction and [[HeroicSelfDeprecation self-esteem]].
* BlowYouAway: Since she is a mage-type Catalyst unit, this trope is more literal in application than other Anemo Vision holders: both her Normal Attack, ''Wind Spirit Creation'', and Elemental Talents involve using wind to knock targets back or up, and she can also sling around anything human-sized or smaller and get enormous Swirl damage in the process.[[note]]Her Normal Attack has damage multipliers of 37.6125–71.46% (average) for the 4-hit combo combo, 120.16–228.3% for the charged form, and standard values for the plunging form[[/note]]
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Sucrose is one of the best alchemists of the Knights, but even she can be just as weird as her experiments due to how hopeless she is in the social department.
** As mentioned below in CollectorOfTheStrange, she collects bone samples of very specific kinds, even asking for ones with "the blood and meat still on." People were initially weirded out, but once they started getting used to it, they were more willing to put aside the rarest bones for her.
** She decided that the best way to learn more about Diona (granted, it was to avoid a potentially sensitive topic in her view, but still) was to stalk her for '''an entire month'''. All she got from it was Diona constantly having the unnerving feeling of someone watching her, and no bone samples.
** Some of her experiments can be rather unusual. The "Windblume's Breath" event involves her needing to collect breaths for an assignment. At this point, [[TheDitz Paimon]], who normally has a comment for everything, doesn't even bother questioning it.
* CharacterDevelopment: While her character stories, voicelines, etc. paint her as struggling with social anxiety and low self-esteem, Sucrose in events has repeatedly shown that she has well developed coping methods and emotional maturity to deal with those issues to the extent that they seem to barely bother her. This is best shown in the 2023 Windblume Festival event where she's confident and outgoing enough to make the strange request of people to breath into a test tube so she can collect their breath and, in the same event, mentor Collei on dealing with shyness and anxiety. She also gives the Traveler advice on dealing with failure during the Alchemy event.
* ChildhoodFriends: One of her story entries mentions that she and her two best friends dreamt of a wonderful place as described in a story, wishing to one day reach it together and live happily ever after, only for circumstances to cause them to go their separate ways. When Sucrose first learned of alchemy, she thought about creating that "paradise" in real life through alchemy, hoping her friends will come back for their shared dream.
* CollectorOfTheStrange: Her Character Story mentions that she likes collecting bones from living beings, preferably still fresh with viscera and all. She even has an idle animation where she pulls out a bone and examines it. Additionally, she also collects skeletons, even being able to nab a complete lizard skeleton because of this.
* CooldownManipulation: With her fourth Constellation upgrade, ''Alchemania'', every seventh combo or charged strike of her Normal Attack would reduce the cooldown of her Skill by 1-7 seconds.
* CorrallingVacuum: Both her Elemental Talents create Wind Spirits that pull in nearby enemies, occasionally knocking them in midair, with her Burst in particular lasting six seconds long and dealing damage every two (for a total of three hits).[[note]]With damage multipliers of 211.2–448.8% for her Skill, and 148–333% and 44–99% for her Burst's respective main and additional elemental strikes[[/note]] Her first Constellation upgrade, ''Clustered Vacuum Field'', adds a second charge to her Skill, while her second, ''Beth: Unbound Form'', extends the duration of her Burst to eight seconds (and hence four hits).
* ADayInTheLimelight: Sucrose is one of the main characters of the "Windblume's Breath" event alongside Collei, which focuses on both girls bonding over their similar personalities.
* DubNameChange: In Chinese, her name is "Shātáng" (砂糖), the characters of which are translated in Korean via hanja as "Seoltang" (hangul 설탕), both of which mean "granulated sugar." While in Japanese the characters can be read (via ''kun'yomi'' [native Japanese] method) as ''sato'', the localized name instead transliterates the English one (as "Sukurōsu" [katakana スクロース]), probably because "Sato" is a common surname and has multiple meanings, which would diminish the sugar association. In the Spanish subtitles, her name is written as "Sacarosa," which is a type of sweetener.
* FantasticRacism: It's heavily implied that Sucrose is terrified of being looked at strangely on account of her ears--in the voice interaction line where the Traveler asks her about them, she gets more nervous than she's ever been, and meekly explains that they're "inherited" and that she tries as hard as she can to [[HideYourOtherness hide them in her hair]]. It's also implied that Sucrose is being anxious over nothing because Mondstadters couldn't care less about animal traits, what with the existence of people with elven ears such as Klee as well as CatFolk like the Kätzlein clan.
* ForScience: A positive example--she's focused on her pursuit of bio-alchemy and its application on living things, but she has a strong enough moral compass to use it for good. Her biography notes that people were suspicious of her at first, but once she found ways to double nectar output and preserve certain fruits for ''a month'' after harvesting without refrigeration, all without causing ecological damage, the people quickly warmed up to her. Her bio does point out that this is all in pursuit of something greater, however, which Sucrose keeps much closer to her chest.
* FreakLabAccident: During one experiment gone wrong, Sucrose discovered that the aftermath accidentally created an Anemo Vision. The first thing she did is to experiment on it.
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: Her Elemental Talents are heavily implied to be the results of her experiments, but they function similarly to other Anemo-based abilities seen in the game. Then again, her Vision story claims she uses it in battle as well as for experiments, so it's likely she uses both in tandem.
* GeniusSweetTooth: Sucrose's favorite food is candy made from Sweet Flower nectar, and she mentions that eating them makes her focus better.
* GiverOfLameNames: Sucrose is not great at naming her specimens beyond extremely literal/numerical scientific descriptions. For example, she calls a strain of sweet flower that she worked on as "Sweet Flower Project 9, Version 28, Scent-Strengthening Trial." This even carries to her Elemental Skill and Burst, respectively called ''Astable Anemohypostasis Creation [[LudicrousPrecision 6308]]'' and ''[[DangerousForbiddenTechnique Forbidden Creation]] - Isomer 75 / Type II''. Ironically, she dreams of making a fairytale-like paradise with her work, but she cannot produce more fantastic names for her specimens; she ends up deciding that, if it is a paradise of her making, she is free to name the flora in it the way she likes best.
* InternalHomage: Like many of the other Mondstadt characters, [[https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/gensin-impact/images/7/7d/Party_Setup_Sucrose.gif/revision/latest?cb=20230816094258 her unique Party Setup animation is a reference to her portrait]], albeit inverted.
* LampshadeHanging: One of her lines when opening Treasure Chests has her questioning why random chests appear out of thin air.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: Her "Feelings About Ascension: Conclusion" voice line has Sucrose do this.
-->''"I have such an abundant array of research materials now! To spend any more time on me would... would really be a waste of your time! [...]"''
* LittleBitBeastly: She has a pair of furry ears (and these do seem to be her only ears). She gets [[HideYourOtherness incredibly nervous]] when asked about them in her voice lines. It is implied that she may be a fox-folk like Yae Miko--Mondstadt has legends about fox people that sound similar to the kitsune, Miko is the only other character to have ears like Sucrose, and the kitsune aren't originally from the Inazuman archipelago, having immigrated from somewhere else a long time ago.
* LuminescentBlush: She tends to break out into these a ''lot'', most observably (and repeatably) on her Talent screen; she is painfully, cripplingly shy. It is a wonder she can fight at all.
* MeaningfulName: [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sucrose Sucrose]] is the traditional chemical name for common sugar. Sucrose-the-girl is an incredibly sweet, shy, and earnest young woman who will give you insulin shock with how nice and eager she is. She also fittingly works with nectar and fruits.
* {{Meganekko}}: Is a female anime character with glasses and a sweet personality.
* MentorArchetype: To Collei. As explained below, both are introverts, except Sucrose is already a young adult whereas Collei is in her early teens at her youngest, while her greater exposure ([[ShrinkingViolet willing or otherwise]]) to the world allows her to recognize Collei's issues and give her sound advice to help her open up more.
* MirrorCharacter: To Collei, another sky shy green-haired girl studying under snarky geniuses who hold leadership positions in their nations' respective peacekeeping bodies. When they meet during the "Windblume's Breath" event, Sucrose even tells Collei that she feels that they're "very similar people". Their master-student pairs also has one person who is LittleBitBeastly, though they differ in that Collei's master is the one with fox ears while Sucrose is the student with animal ears.
* ModestyShorts: The undersuit of her dress creates these.
* MoneyMultiplier: [[PlayingWithATrope Played with]]. Her utility passive, ''Astable Invention'', gives her a 10% chance to craft character/weapon enhancement materials twice.
* NavelOutline: A subtle one, but still visible in her splash art.
* NerdGlasses: They look a bit nicer than some examples (brass framed pince-nez with rimless tops), but she does have a big ol' pair of specs and the effect is definitely there. She even begs the enemy not to break her glasses in one of her "taking damage" voice lines.
* NiceGirl: An incredibly sweet and earnest, if a somewhat shy and odd girl despite her social struggles, even bonding with [[ForestRanger Collei]] in "Windblume's Breath" due to their shared timidness. This is why she's called the "Harmless Sweetie".
* NoSocialSkills: Due to both her shyness and singular focus on alchemy, Sucrose struggles with social interactions. Her Character Stories mention that she will understand more about Diona's CatGirl traits if she just asked the bartender directly and nicely, but she'd rather do what she does best: watch from a distance. She also says that this makes interacting with [[TheSocialExpert Kaeya]] awkward.
-->'''Description:''' "She finds the discipline of social interaction to be far more difficult to master than that of alchemy."
* ShapingYourAttacks: Both her Elemental Talents create phantasmal Crystralflies that suck in then launch nearby enemies.
* ShrinkingViolet: Zig-zagged--when dealing exclusively with ''people'', Sucrose has trouble and tends to stammer and lose confidence in herself. When faced with the possibility of new discovery or knowledge, however, her natural eagerness and energy tend to overcome her shyness, if just for a bit.
* SlidingScaleOfGameplayAndStoryIntegration:
** Both her Elemental Talents take the form of Crystalflies. Appropriately, one of her level Ascension materials is a drop from the Anemo Hypostasis, which does take on a Crystalfly-like appearance for some attacks.
** As Sucrose's Character Stories and voice-overs point out, even though she is Albedo's assistant and shares his interest in alchemy, her research direction is completely different. Gameplay-wise, both can support their teammates and boost their Elemental Mastery, but barely have any synergy with each other due to Anemo and Geo having no reaction.
* SoreLoser: Downplayed, but after the Traveler defeats her in their first duel in Genius Invokation TCG, Sucrose admits that she hates losing, and can get surprisingly competitive sometimes.
* StarterMon: She is one of the starting Character Cards in Genius Invokation TCG, alongside Diluc and Kaeya.
* StatusBuff:
** Both her ascension passives allow her to increase the party's Elemental Mastery stat for eight seconds. That for her first, ''Catalyst Conversion'', adds 50 points for her allies whose Vision elements match the one with which she triggers Swirl reactions, while that for her fourth, ''Mollis Favonius'', provides a boost for the party based on 20% of Sucrose's own whenever either of her Elemental Talents hit enemies.
** Her sixth Constellation upgrade, ''Chaotic Entropy'', gives the party a 20% boost to Elemental Damage Bonus corresponding to that which her Burst changes into.
* SwitchOutMove: In Genius Invokation TCG, in addition to dealing Anemo damage, her Skill forcibly switches the target to a previous character.
* UpgradeArtifact: A variant--her third and fifth Constellation upgrades, ''Flawless Alchemistress'' and ''Caution: Standard Flask'', add three levels to, respectively, her Skill and Burst.
* {{Workaholic}}: Her character story mentions that once, she was working with Albedo on an experiment that took five days straight until she was on the verge of collapsing from exhaustion, so he decided to give her some time off. Turns out Sucrose barely lasted a day into the mini vacation because she was bored without having anything she could research, investigate, or study.

* ButNotTooForeign: Lawrence's father is from Fontaine.
* GodwinsLaw[[invoked]]: Lawrence often gets dirty looks and frequently accosted by residents by virtue of being given a name from one of Mondstadt's most hated families. This is despite having '''zero''' connections to the clan at all.
* LampshadeHanging: If talked to, Lawrence mentions as to how a weather would suddenly change when inside the city itself, and wonders if there is someone who can manipulate weather like that. This is a reference on how a rainy day outside of each of the nation's cities would instantly go to a clear weather if they are inside of it.
* MildlyMilitary: Although he takes his duty seriously, Lawrence is relatively relaxed, and is more than happy to have a chat with anyone who has the time as he gets bored with simply standing around and doing nothing.
* TheseQuestionsThree: In some Daily Commissions, Swan would stop the Traveler and ask them three questions based on the Knights of Favonius Handbook.
* ThoseTwoGuys: No matter the time of day, Lawrence and Swan are always found at the front gate of the City.
* UnfortunateName: In Mondstadt, the name "Lawrence" is synonymous with a corrupt noble houses during the aristocracy era. His Fontainean father, not knowing about its history, decided to name him just that when he lost the drinking game with Wagner, only to regret it later on once he learned better.

A maid at the Knights of Favonius' headquarters with superhuman strength, who also aspires to become a full-fledged Knight despite her demure, introverted personality.\
\
Noelle draws on her inner strength to protect and heal her allies, as well as augmenting her Normal Attack, ''Favonius Bladework - Maid''. Her Elemental Skill, ''Breastplate'', blasts surrounding foes with Geo energy and conjures a barrier around the active character that negates all damage as well as allows Noelle to randomly heal her allies with her attacks, while her Elemental Burst, ''Sweeping Time'', supercharges her claymore with Geo energy and increases her attacks' power and range.[[note]]When fully upgraded, she can now automatically generate a longer-lasting but less resilient form of her Skill's shield onto allies with dangerously low HP while she is off-field, as well as cut into the cooldown of her Skill every fourth regular or charged attack; her shields can now deal Geo damage on surrounding enemies whenever its time expires or it takes sufficient damage; her Burst can now be extended whenever she defeats enemies; and both Talents active at the same time guarantee her attacks to heal the party.[[/note]]
----
* AchievementsInIgnorance: According to her second Character Story, in the past she hosted Landa, a Snezhnayan merchant who had been secretly conspiring to take over Mondstadt's wine industry. Noelle being Noelle, she was so good at her job, going as far as to predict his and his family's requests, that he grew paranoid that [[EntertaininglyWrong she may have caught onto his plans]]. He eventually hightailed it out of Mondstadt, leaving the poor girl upset for a while because she had no idea what she had done wrong.
* AlmightyJanitor: Noelle is still a maid who has yet to pass the Knight selections in spite of possessing a Vision, differentiating her from the rank-and-file. In-game, when fully developed, she is easily one of the toughest characters to defeat thanks to her Elemental Talents that guarantee her high survivability, and with a full Constellation, Noelle becomes a OneWomanArmy.
* AscendedMeme: As the earliest Claymore unit most people had early in the game, she was often memed as a dedicated mining machine since ore is difficult to break with any other weapon type. One branch of her first Hangout Event tree has the Traveler take her ore-smashing as a training exercise; even after beating a lawachurl, she cannot resist clobbering the ores around it.
* BadassAdorable: Noelle is a lovely, sweet girl who works as a maid for the Knights and loves her job, and also trains hard to become a full-fledged knight one day... and she also wields [[{{BFS}} claymores]], those usually being as tall as she is, and is [[GlacierWaif far sturdier than her delicate physique would suggest]].
* BarrierWarrior: Her Skill deals minor damage on surrounding foes and casts a shield around the active character which, for the next twelve seconds or until it is broken, negates all kinds of damage as well as gives her a CombatMedic functionality (see below), with the raw damage and resilience scaling off of her Defense stat[[note]]Respectively, by 120–270% DEF and (160–360% DEF)+(769–2271)[[/note]] Her first-ascension passive gives her a DefenseMechanismSuperpower (see below), while her fourth Constellation upgrade, ''To Be Cleaned'', allows it to deal Geo damage on surrounding enemies whenever its time expires or it is destroyed (worth four times her Attack stat).
* BattleBallgown: Her outfit is a modest maid outfit with an armored breastplate, greaves, gauntlets, and one pauldron.
* BigEater: In one branch of her first Hangout Event tree, Noelle makes an order at Good Hunter for a visitor consisting of four entrées, namely a Steak, Sweet Madame, Mushroom Pizza, and Satisfying Salad. She does not comprehend that Sara was apprehensive over taking the order on account of the sheer volume.
* BlessedWithSuck: To a minor degree, but Noelle is less than happy that her Vision is Geo, feeling that as an aspiring Knight of Favonius, she should have been granted an Anemo one instead and worrying that hers does not align as well.[[note]]Ironically, only Jean and Sucrose have Anemo visions among the Knights.[[/note]]
* BoringButPractical: Both her Elemental Talents are very straightforward. Her Skill summons a shield that absorbs damage and occasionally provides healing on hit, while her Burst turns her claymore into a SpellBlade with an attack buff based off of her Defense. However, her tanky stats makes it exceedingly difficult for her to be knocked out even without Constellation upgrades, and she can stun-lock most humanoid enemies with her Normal Attack combos. With enough investment, time, and patience, she can solo almost anything via DeathByAThousandCuts.
* CharacterCatchphrase: Noelle will constantly say "Leave it to me!" or a variant of it just to show how dependable she is to the people of Mondstadt.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: She's strong enough to lift grown men, carry entire sets of bookshelves between towns while clad in plate armor, and cause massive rockslides. This she achieved through nothing but hundreds of push-ups, sit-ups, squats, and running ten kilometers every day.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: [[ExaggeratedTrope She has a bad case of it]], to ExtremeDoormat levels. If anyone needs her help, she'll come running, to the point that she memorized and recited the names of people who would often ask for help, however exhausted she may be and/or exploitiative the other part is. The issue was so rampant Jean had to update the Knights' Handbook to threaten punishment to any Knight who would offload work onto her.
* CleavageWindow: Has a surprisingly prominent one, almost bordering on ImpossiblyLowNeckline, but most of the exposed skin is covered by a red ascot.
* ClosestThingWeGot: If Zhongli is not available for players, Noelle can be used as a substitute for shielding. While hers is weaker and has a longer cooldown, its activation is instant and much more durable than Xinyan's or Diona's.
* CombatMedic: Her Skill gives her Normal Attack a 50–60% chance to heal allies, its potency scaling off of her Defense stat.[[note]]By (21.28–47.92% DEF)+(102–303)[[/note]] With her first Constellation upgrade, ''I Got Your Back'', said attacks will be ''guaranteed'' to heal while her Burst is also active.
* CooldownManipulation: Noelle's fourth-ascension passive, ''Nice and Clean'', allows her to shave one second off the cooldown time of her Skill every fourth strike of her combo or charged Normal Attack.
* CrutchCharacter: In the early game, Noelle is a good tank, a decent healer, and as a player's first Claymore unit she's your best option for obtaining ores. However, Her Skill has an enormous 24-second cooldown, her healing only occurs at random, and her damage isn't high, making her an unimpressive choice as both a DPS and as a support in the late game. That said, with a lot of investment (especially for Constellation upgrades), [[MagikarpPower Noelle truly blossoms into a worthy Knight of Favonius]].
* DefenseMechanismSuperpower: Her first-ascension passive, ''Devotion'', allows Noelle to automatically cast a shield onto any ally whenever their HP falls below 30% and she is not on the field (within at least one-minute intervals), which lasts twenty seconds and whose resilience is worth 400% of Noelle's Defense stat.
* DeliberateValuesDissonance: "The Maid-Knight's Tale" route of her second Hangout Event tree falls into this, as Noelle's knightly values of honesty and modesty contrast heavily with the embellishment and exaggeration present in the Liyue-style storytelling of her exploits, sending the poor girl into a doozy as the Traveler ushers her away.
* DespairEventHorizon: ''Almost'' crossed this in her backstory, where after failing the selection process for the seventh time (which is noted to have been a ForegoneConclusion) she began to feel discouraged and couldn't even pick herself back up. Then Jean walked in and without thinking Noelle snapped to a proper salute, only for Jean to stop and salute back. This recognition is what reaffirmed her drive to become a Knight of Favonius and turned her into the {{Determinator}} she is today. Receiving a Vision for the same action was only the cherry on top.
* {{Determinator}}:
** According to her third Character Story, she rescued an adventurer trapped on Dragonspine. Even if that was an unfortunate day because of a snowstorm that left her hungry and thirsty, Noelle still carried the adventurer on her back, even if that resulted in her lying sick with a high fever for three days.
** She was extremely determined to resolve the Stormterror incident... by herself. Given her reputation, it would have been possible were it not for Kaeya's intervention, wherein he assigned her busywork to keep her distracted.
* DoesNotKnowHerOwnStrength: Averted, for the most part. Though she did wreck ten ordinary swords before Wagner built her one tailored for her strength, when it comes to her maidly duties she easily combines her immense strength with a delicate touch, able to move and support fully loaded shelves one-handed while handling them gently so as to not disturb the contents.
* EarthWindJuxtaposition: Noelle desperately wants to become a full Knight, but [[PowerUpLetdown is distressed that the Vision she gained was Geo and not Anemo]], the latter seeming more fitting for someone wanting to join the Knights.
* ExtremeDoormat: Noelle’s desire to help others ends up leading to her having a tough time refusing requests, allowing people to take advantage of her at times. It got to a point where Jean had to add a rule in the Knights' Handbook threatening a pay cut on any who offload tasks onto Noelle.
* FashionableAsymmetry: Her outfit has asymmetrical parts--a pauldron on her left shoulder, her right arm gauntlet is longer than the other, her left arm gauntlet has a flower, she slants her belt, there is a ribbon on her right hip...
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: One of her voice lines has her mentioning the meaning of roses in Mondstadt, only to become flustered at learning they mean love where the Traveler comes from. When a similar scene plays out at the end of one route of her first Hangout Event tree, she is oblivious to this and the Traveler can only refrain from explaining the difference.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: InUniverse, a trip to Liyue in Noelle's second Hangout Event tree ends with Iron Tongue Tian writing a highly exaggerated and inaccurate story about her. The "legendary Maid-Knight" proves a hit, to Noelle's embarrassment.
-->'''Iron Tongue Tian:''' "A legend from the moment she set foot in Liyue, tales of the adventures of the Maid-Knight would be talked about for hundreds of generations."
* GlacierWaif: Despite her armor, Noelle's BattleBallgown doesn't do much to emphasize how incredibly sturdy she actually is in-game.
* HealerSignsOnEarly: Zig-zagged. The first available [=F2P=] healer is Noelle, whose Skill allows her Normal Attack to randomly heal the party, but only if you do the Beginner Wish, which becomes available after clearing the first act of the Mondstadt Archon Quest and at Adventurer Rank 5.
* HiddenDepths: The "Invitation of Windblume" event reveals that she is skilled at the harp, coming second of the three scores to beat in the "Ballads of Breeze" challenge, surpassed only by [[TheBard Venti]]. She claims it is part of a maid's duty to set a comfortable atmosphere.
* InexplicablyAwesome: Other characters who have SuperStrength in this game have some sort of justification. Shenhe is CursedWithAwesome and trained in the adepti arts and Itto is an {{Oni}}. Noelle's SuperStrength receives no more than a {{Hand Wave}}.
* InternalHomage: Like many of the other Mondstadt characters, [[https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/gensin-impact/images/6/69/Party_Setup_Noelle.gif/revision/latest?cb=20230816094227 her unique Party Setup animation is a reference to her portrait]].
* JackOfAllStats: Noelle can fill any role in a team, tanking heavy damage and providing shields, dealing respectable damage with her claymore, and healing allies through her Skill; [[MasterOfNone as usual with the trope]], however, she doesn't excel at any of these roles. She has poor Attack growth; she heals less reliably than those dedicated to the role like Barbara or Kokomi; and her shield, while still incredibly sturdy, still pales in comparison to Zhongli. Her final Constellation upgrade boosts her Attack further while her Burst is active and makes it last longer with each enemy defeated, making her more usable as a main DPS, though she still is not the best character for this role since her Burst has a very high Energy quota.
* JigglePhysics: {{Exaggerated|Trope}}; though this is usually the case for many of the female characters, Noelle stands out as her breasts still bounce around even when restrained by ''plate armor''. It's not just her chest that's exposed by her CleavageWindow either, but the ''breastplate itself'' jiggles as well!
* LadyOfWar: She's themed by being a powerful Claymore bearer with a maid's PimpedOutDress.
* LuminescentBlush: While she will confidently come forward to serve others, she looks embarrassed when we review her talents in the Talent screen.
* MagikarpPower: At first, she can be only useful as a StoneWall and her Skill's healing ability is more of an afterthought than an integral part of her kit. With talent and Constellation upgrades, however, her DPS and healing skyrocket and synergize with her Burst to work together at the same time. When fully upgraded, Noelle will only be held back by the large Energy cost of her Burst and long cooldown time of her Skill.
* MartialPacifist: In addendum to being a PintSizedPowerhouse (see below), Noelle is a pacifist at heart, though she is not afraid to use the full extent of her strength should the situation require it.
* MartyrWithoutACause: Implied to be part of why she's not a proper Knight, as the other Knights were very worried about her habit of overextending herself in the process of protecting others. It certainly explains why she's not on the force when [[TheSlacker Bruce]] is a fully-fledged Knight.
* MechanicallyUnusualFighter: A minor but significant case, in that she is one of the only two characters (the other being Diluc) whose enhancement (Burst in her case) isn't cancelled upon being switched out, meaning it's possible switch one (or two) of her allies to use their Talents and switch her in again in order to continue her assault, albeit with the caveat that its timer will not pause.
* {{Meido}}: She's trying to fill this role while she tries to become a knight for real, which makes her an, uh... [[NinjaPirateZombieRobot armored two-handing battle meido]]?
* MightyGlacier: Noelle mostly focuses on defense, and has the slower attack speed characteristic of claymore users, but once she activates her Burst, she'll be hitting ''real'' hard, with damage scaling off of her Defense (helped by her Ascension stat of Defense percentage [7.5–30%]), incentivizing players to build her to be even tankier to enhance her offensive prowess.
* MsFanservice: Overall downplayed compared to other examples, though Noelle is still very well-endowed for her height, having the largest breasts amongst the mid-sized female characters; in addition, despite dressing up conservatively, she wears skintight pantyhose and a form-fitting breastplate molded for her breasts that exposes her cleavage and [[SexyBacklessOutfit a lot of her back]]. Her wardrobe also makes her look like a French {{m|eido}}aid. Finally, despite that she's wearing ''plate armor'', her breasts have JigglePhysics, including the armor itself.
* NaiveNewcomer: Jean fears that Noelle is unprepared for the dangers outside Mondstadt's walls, and her first Hangout Event tree confirms that she rarely leaves the city due to her job and has little combat experience. The player can have her kick ass across multiple continents and make this a case of GameplayAndStorySegregation.
* NeatFreak: She was born to be a maid, for not only does she take pride in all the housekeeping that comes with being a maid, cleaning and washing are also her ''hobbies.''
-->''(About Hobbies) "My hobby? I really like washing all sorts of things... clothes, floorboards, windows, you name it! Whenever I see something dirty, I just want to give it a good old clean! It just gives me such a sense of achievement! ...Oh, you mean the things I do in my free time? Hmm... '''[[{{Workaholic}} Same answer!]]'''"''
* NiceGirl: Friendly, polite, and humble to a fault, Noelle does her utmost to ensure she can help everyone with a smile on her face.
* NinjaMaid: ''Knight'' maid to be exact (technically squire), in that she doubles between serving the Knights and proving her mettle as one. This duality is reflected in the name of her Normal Attack, ''Favonius Bladework - Maid''.[[note]]Its damage multipliers are 88.0425–186.325% (average) for the 4-hit combo form, 50.74–107.38% and 90.47–191.46% for, respectively, the cycling and final strikes of the charged form, and standard values for the plunging form[[/note]]
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: Noelle is an armored, greatsword-wielding, petite squire maid who's in training to be a knight and is cute as a button.
* ThePerfectionist: Noelle is hyper-focused on passing the Knights' selection exams flawlessly. In one route of her second Hangout Event tree, if she passes Cyrus' mock-up entrance exam for the Adventurer's Guild with a few mistakes, she'll slump into disappointment that she didn't get the perfect score and head back to the Knights' headquarters to study more books, thinking that her "success" didn't qualify as one.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Noelle is one of the shortest characters even within the "Medium Female" build, but she is also physically strong. She can lift loaded shelves and bookcases one-handed, and once effortlessly threw an entire merchant convoy's worth of burning carts, cargo, and all, into Cider Lake to douse the flames--and she still had the strength to then swim back out to retrieve everything. It is also why she wields a claymore; early in her training, she nearly sent Wagner into an existential crisis when she ruined at least ten of his swords, before he discovered that nothing less than a claymore can manage the sheer force she puts behind her attacks.
* PowerUpLetdown: A downplayed in-universe example, at least from her perspective. Noelle appreciated receiving a Vision as a gift from the Archons, but she wasn't particularly thrilled for it to be a [[DishingOutDirt Geo]] Vision and not [[BlowYouAway Anemo]].
-->''(About the Vision) "To be honest, I'm feeling a little dejected. Sure, this Vision proves that the Archons think I'm worthy, but why is it a Geo Vision? I mean, Geo's the furthest thing from Anemo, and for a Knight of Favonius..."''
* ReducedManaCost: A variant--Noelle's second Constellation upgrade, ''Combat Maid'', reduces the stamina consumption of her charged Normal Attack by 20%, as well as increases their damage potency by 15%.
* SayMyName: It is commonplace in Mondstadt to hear citizens shouting [[BigWordShout "NOELLE!!!!!"]] at the top of their lungs, and to see the young wondermaid show up at the drop of a hat to solve their problems.
-->'''Paimon:''' "If you ever run into something you can't handle yourself, you just need to shout this name into the sky: [[SkywardScream "Noeeeelle!"]] And everything that's troubling you will be swept away in an instant."
* SexyBacklessOutfit: Her dress has the backside cut out, exposing much of her bare back apart from some small criss-cross straps on it.
* SignificantBirthDate: Noelle's birthday, March 21, is the day of the northern vernal equinox, the start of spring and day on which flowers, such as roses (her [[SomethingAboutARose principal motif]]), bloom.
* SlidingScaleOfGameplayAndStoryIntegration:
** For all her strength, Noelle is still a knight in training. In-game she's a MagikarpPower-type unit requiring a lot of investment to reach her full potential.
** She'll help out with anything from chores to combat to moving furniture. Likewise, her kit makes her a JackOfAllStats that covers three of the four main aspects of combat: DPS, shielding, and healing. She's only lacking in crowd control, which is what Anemo specializes in.
** As detailed below under UnskilledButStrong, she has no real fighting style and is consistently beaten by more experienced Knights in sparring matches. In-game, her kit revolves around simply tanking damage and moving forward to whale on her opponent.
** Being a maid, cooking is naturally part of Noelle's skillset. Gameplay-wise, her utility passive, ''Maid's Knighthood'', gives her a 12% chance to cook Defense-boosting dishes twice, which also dovetails into a reference to her sturdy defenses.
* SomethingAboutARose: She uses roses as fashion accessories, not so much as a sign of vanity as much as discretion, and her Constellation displays a shield emblazoned with a rose. In the flower language of Mondstadt, red roses symbolize sealed lips; hence, Noelle, who also works as a maid, wears them to remind herself that her fellow Knights have entrusted her with their personal secrets. As such, she becomes flustered when she learns that roses stand for love and passion in the Traveler's homeland. Completing one route of of her first Hangout Event tree leads to her [[ShipTease giving one to the Traveler]].
* SpellBlade: Her Burst coats her sword with Geo energy for fifteen seconds (and a similar cooldown time, both of which are offset by a large 90-point Energy requirement), increasing the reach and damage output of her Normal Attack (scaling off of her Defense stat), as well as boosts her Attack stat based on 40–90% of her Defense.[[note]]With damage multiplers of 67.2–151% for the initial burst and 92.8–209% for the enhanced Normal Attack[[/note]]. Her sixth Constellation upgrade, ''Must Be Spotless'', further enhances her Attack boost (equivalent to half her Defense), as well as extends its duration by a second for every enemy defeated (to a maximum of ten).
* SpinAttack: Her ChargedAttack has her swing her claymore and spin around in circles at high speeds.
* TheSquire: Despite the game describing her as a "maid," she is closer to being this. She aspires to be a full-fledged Knight, and she is constantly learning from the ranks, customs, speech, and conduct of active Knights even as she gives service to them. That said, she is still trying to be the best maid she can be in the interim and focuses heavily on maidly duties in her training.
* StarterMon: Something close to it. She's guaranteed in the "Beginner" discount gacha banner's first 10-pull (even if you get another character, possibly even a 5★, along with her), and that's available basically... forever, so you essentially have to peevishly refuse to roll on her banner to not get her, guaranteed, with your early rolling resources.
* StoneWall: Her skills focus on giving defense to the team; her damage output is not that great compared to other claymore-wielding characters. [[MagikarpPower When she uses her Elemental Burst on the other hand...]]
* SuperStrength: Even before receiving her Vision, Noelle has already shown strength far exceeding that of normal humans; as such, her profile describes her as "superhuman." She can lift fully loaded carts and bookshelves with one arm, and such is her strength that she broke every sword she tried to use, prompting Wagner to forge one tailored to her strength. The game never explains how she got her super strength, but her first Hangout Event tree implies that it could be the result of her sheer devotion to helping others in need as well as her [[CharlesAtlasSuperpower constant training]].
* SupportPartyMember: Her Skill negates all incoming damage to the active character, as well as allows Noelle to randomly heal the party whenever she attacks.
* ATasteOfPower: Routes in her Hangout Event will let you temporarily play as a slightly-below-max-level Noelle with a slightly-below-maxed-out 4★ Favonius Greatsword and a full set of maxed-out artifacts, in case you have not decided to build out the free Noelle you automatically get from the Beginners' Wish banner.
* TheTeetotaler: She's not of the drinking age yet and would prefer to save her first time until she is older.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Salads, specifically a Satisfying Salad which, according to her, she has been eating for ten years, has the best of Mondstadt's crops, is nutritious, and is low on calories.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: Once upon a time, a group of drunken Treasure Hoarders mistook her for easy prey. Needless to say, [[CurbStompBattle it did not end well for them]].
* UnskilledButStrong: According to her Hangout Event, this is the reason she is not yet a fully-fledged Knight. While she has the strength to make even the Traveler gawk, she lacks practical combat experience due to spending most of her time either training or working as a maid, which leads to her losing all sparring matches she participates in for her exams. [[SlidingScaleOfGameplayAndStoryIntegration Her playstyle certainly reflects this]], as it's mostly based around withstanding attacks and crushing enemies with raw strength rather than doing anything particularly dexterous.
* UpgradeArtifact: A variant--Noelle's third and fifth Constellation upgrades, ''Invulnerable Maid'' and ''Favonius Sweeper Master'', add three levels to, respectively, her Skill and Burst.
* WeaponSpecialization: Her splash art and one ending art for her first Hangout Event tree shows Noelle wielding the Favonius Greatsword, whose Ascension substat is Energy Recharge (13.3–61.3%), and whose "Windfall" passive grants its wielder a 60–100% chance to generate Elemental Particles that regenerate 6 Energy, triggered at least every twelve seconds when unrefined (which can be reduced to six at its fifth and final stage), thus giving her a workaround to her Burst's large Energy quota.
* WeightWoe: She is conscientious of her weight and figure. As such, she dislikes banquets as she is obliged as a maid to taste test all the dishes to ensure their quality. Characters note that in the days following a banquet, Noelle readily volunteers to take part in night patrols. Her comment in the Brightcrown Canyon Floral Freefall scoreboard has her lament that her heavy stomach may impede her gliding skill.
-->''"My stomach's a little... heavy, but I'll try to make up for it. Gliding is a necessary skill for a knight, after all."''
* WellTrainedButInexperienced: Although she has enough merits to be a Knight of Favonius, her experience in real battle is almost none, getting nervous and needing help during real combat.
* {{Workaholic}}:
** She takes being a maid ''very'' seriously and is pretty much single-mindedly devoted to doing as much for the Knights of Favonius as humanly possible. However, it sometimes verges on ''inhuman''; she once fell sick after heroically rescuing an adventurer from Dragonspine. which made Jean and Kaeya try to not make her do overly heavy tasks after that.
** During the Stormterror crisis, Noelle was determined to resolve the issue herself, ''at its source''. Luckily, Kaeya was able to arrange "urgent matters" to keep her busy until the people with the ability to do so could subdue the dragon.
** As explained in NeatFreak, Noelle's hobby is "cleaning" — she even does that [[ExaggeratedTrope in her spare time]]! Driven home by how her only complaint about the Traveler's Serenitea Pot is that there is virtually nothing for her to accomplish there since it's perpetually tidy.
** This is also {{deconstruct|ion}}ed, as Jean's voice-over for Noelle implies that ''this'', alongside her relative inexperience in combat, is why the Acting Grand Master (also a Workaholic herself) is reluctant to make Noelle a Knight of Favonius — if Noelle is already so devoted to helping as a maid, as a Knight she might well literally work herself to death.

Barbara soothes her allies with healing music through her Elemental Talents. Her Skill, ''Let the Show Begin''♪, damages surrounding foes and envelopes the active character with a Melody Loop, a ring of water droplets resembling a musical staff which periodically heals the active character, as well as allows her Normal Attack, ''Whisper of Water'', to heal the party, while her Burst, ''Shining Miracle''♪, instantly heals the party with a magical dance.[[note]]When fully upgraded, she can now regenerate Energy, either gradually or whenever she lands charged attacks; the Melody Loop can now reduce the active character's Stamina consumption and boost their Hydro damage, as well as extended whenever they pick up Elemental Orbs or Particles; and she can now periodically revive a fallen ally back to full health.[[/note]]
----
* AchillesHeel: Similar to fellow Hydro idol Nilou, Barbara doesn't fare well against Cryo enemies. In her case, it's because any attempt to use her Skill can backfire and cause the current on-field character during its duration to be frozen.
* AllLovingHeroine: Barbara does not have it in her to be mad at her fans for never giving her time to herself, and instead does her best to please them, even if it is at her own expense. She will even help someone who is blatantly a Treasure Hoarder trying a WoundedGazelleGambit if they have genuine injuries and need her help.
* AlwaysAccurateAttack: Barbara is one of the few Catalyst units whose Normal Attacks are placed ''at the position'' of the enemy, rather than create a flying projectile. This means that, so long as she has line of sight to an enemy and it is not ''too'' far above or below her, she can always hit it with her normal and charged attacks. While her actual damage scaling is not great, this still has tons of applications and increases her utility and damage potential immensely compared to her stats on paper, especially while the Melody Loop is active, which allows her to heal allies while attacking.[[note]]Its damage multipliers are 42.4–80.73% (average) for the 4-hit combo form, 166.24–316.52% for the charged form, and standard values for the plunging form[[/note]]
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Barbara grew up in Jean’s shadow--everything she can do, Jean can do better. Part of the reason she became an IdolSinger is because she wants to best Jean at ''something'', and while she does not resent Jean for being better at many things and continues to love her despite their separation, she just wanted to find something ''she'' could be good at, too.
* AutoRevive: Her sixth Constellation upgrade, ''Dedicating Everything to You'', automatically revives a fallen character (except Barbara herself) to full health (within at least fifteen-minute intervals).
* BadassAdorable: Barbara is both a deaconess and the resident {{idol|Singer}} of Mondstadt who is LovedByAll. She's also a Hydro Vision holder who, while not a powerhouse by herself, is [[GlacierWaif much sturdier than what her petite appearance belies]] and is an effective healer.
* BadassPreacher: A deaconess and a Hydro Vision holder, in fact one of the few people in the Church to be confirmed to hold a Vision (alongside Rosaria).
* BigSisterWorship: Judging from her voice lines, it is clear she thinks the absolute world of her big sister. However, they find it hard to become close due to the years of growing up separately.
* BoringButPractical: Players who prioritize damage-dealing tend to overlook Barbara because of her focus on healing and the fact that both her Elemental Talents scale off of her Max HP (helped by her Ascension stat of Max HP percentage [6–24%]). However, few healers can compare to her output when built optimally, being able to heal entire parties back to full health in mere seconds with only her Normal Attack enhanced by a Miracle Loop. With a full Constellation, she becomes one of the few units capable of reviving fallen allies within the Spiral Abyss (which forbids the consumption of food). Only Qiqi can achieve a similar effect, but with her being a 5★ unit, getting seven of her is a much less likely occurrence.
* ChefOfIron: Her utility passive, ''With My Whole Heart''♪, gives her a 12% chance to cook HP-restoring dishes twice.
* CombatMedic: In addition to periodically restoring the active character's HP, the Melody Loop allows Barbara to simultaneously heal the party in tandem with her Normal Attack.
* CrutchCharacter: Barbara is a decent healer, and having someone in that role frees players from the habit of [[HyperactiveMetabolism consuming food to restore HP]]. The game gives her out for free to players who reached Adventure Rank 20 before v1.1 (and afterwards, she is available after finishing the Mondstadt Archon Quest), making her the player's [[StarterMon starting healer]] if they have yet to receive one from the Wishes. Her Skill also provides a GradualRegeneration and it also has a decent cooldown; however, it has a downside of applying Wet on the active character; while this is negligible against ordinary foes, her Skill becomes risky to use against certain enemies and bosses, especially Cryo-elemental ones, since they will have higher chances of freezing your characters instead.
* TheCutie: Barbara is a lovely young lady, well-liked by the people of Mondstadt for her sweet, cheerful personality. Both her Elemental Talent animations, as well as one idle, also feature her doing idol-like flourishes which emphasize her adorable youthfulness, in contradistinction to both Jean and Rosaria's mature beauty.
* DudeMagnet: You can find Albert, a LoonyFan of hers, outside the Favonius Cathedral. He even sets up a fan club for her.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: As of writing (v4.5) Barbara is the only 4★ unit with a cinematic close-up for her Elemental Burst otherwise reserved for 5★ characters. This is a carryover from the game's development phase, where she was meant to be 5★ before her rarity was lowered so that players would have at least one ready healer.
* ElementalPersonalities: A bubbly, adaptable young lady who puts her all for the sake of others, befitting not only a WhiteMagicianGirl but a [[MakingASplash Hydro]] Vision owner.
* EveryoneHasStandards: Despite her love for spicy foods, [[BlazingInfernoHellfireSauce Liyue Chilibrew]] is a dish too far for her.
* ExplainExplainOhCrap: The flavor text for her Spicy Stew runs like this...
-->"Barbara's specialty. Carrots cut into cute little stars make this dish... Wait, AHH! [[FireBreathingDiner Where did this spiciness come from!?]]"
* ExtremeDoormat: She simply cannot refuse her fans and this gets highlighted during her Hangout Event, which begins with her feeling guilty for making the Traveler deal with [[AbhorrentAdmirer Albert]] after he followed her to Wolvendom, even though part of the reason she's there is for some peace and quiet, and in one route the Traveler acts as her bouncer to disperse a mob that formed around her while she stood in line for a specialty drink at Cat's Tail simply because she couldn't bring herself to turn them away.
* FanservicePack: v1.6 made her the first playable character to have an alternate costume—a swimsuit which, while lacking her default outfit's low neckline, [[LegFocus bares her legs]].
* FearOfThunder: {{Implied|Trope}} with her lines where she is startled whenever lightnning strikes nearby.
* FireBreathingDiner: Again, her Spicy Stew, as detailed in its description.
* {{Foil}}: To Rosaria. Whereas the latter is antisocial, apathetic about her duties, lazy, and [[BrutalHonesty not afraid to speak her mind]], Barbara is personable, dedicated to the Church, hardworking, and conflict-avoidant. Likewise, Rosaria is a Cryo sub-DPS who zips around the battlefield while Barbara's Hydro abilities focus on healing.
* GirlishPigtails: Sports them to emphasize her upbeat youthfulness.
* GlacierWaif: Barbara's WhiteMagicianGirl image belies her tankiness when built optimally.
* GoodShepherd: A deaconess of the Church of Favonius, and a strong contender for the most unconditionally kind and helpful character in the entire game.
* GradualRegeneration: Her Skill heals the active character in four waves five seconds apart (hence a duration of fifteen seconds) and allows Barbara's Normal Attacks to heal the party (with their potency scaling off of her Max HP), in addition to dealing a two-hit damage to surrounding foes upon activation.[[note]]Healing is equivalent to (4–8.5% Max HP)+(385.18–1059) for the regeneration and (0.75–1.59% Max HP)+(72.2–198.63) for Barbara's augmented Normal Attack combos (with the values quadrupled for its charged form), in addition to a 58.4–124.1% damage multiplier per hit[[/note]] Her fourth-ascension passive, ''Encore'', increases its duration by one second (to a maximum of five) whenever the active character picks up Elemental Orbs or Particles.
* GratuitousJapanese: Her fans call her Barbara-[[UsefulNotes/JapaneseHonorifics sama]], even though Mondstadt is nowhere near Teyvat's Japan equivalent (that would be Inazuma) and Japanese honorifics aren't used in Inazuma in the English dub anyway.
* GroupieBrigade: Barbara is popular with her audience. ''Very'' popular. Sister Victoria needs her to check in with her whenever she wants to go somewhere, lest she get swarmed by her adoring fans. She cannot even go out to get a drink with the Traveler without fans approaching her for autographs and fashion tips.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: She is a light blonde haired girl with a kindhearted, sweet, caring personality to match and enjoys making other happy.
* HealerSignsOnEarly: {{Zigzagged|Trope}}. After Noelle, the next available and first full [=F2P=] healer is Barbara, who the player receives for free on v1.0 after reaching Adventurer Rank 20 (near the end of, or after completing the Mondstadt Archon Quest). Players who signed in from v1.1 onwards need to take longer and complete the Archon Quest to obtain her.
* HealItWithWater: She wields Hydro magic, and she can heal her allies with it.
* HeightAngst: One of her idle animations include her wondering when she would be as tall as her sister.
* HiddenBuxom: The ribbons on her chest in both of her outfits hide the fact that Barbara is decently stacked.
* IdolSinger: She's the nearest thing Mondstadt has to one, and in fact learned the concept of idols from a foreign magazine. Her Character Story elaborates on how her performances originally sounded strange to the people of Mondstadt, who only heard the songs of bards up until that point, but eventually embraced her style and became loyal fans.
* INeedToGoIronMyDog: If you try to flirt with her in Wolvendom during her Hangout Event, [[WhatTheHellPlayer she will get uncomfortable and leave]], instantly failing the event.
* {{Irony}}: When the party returns a badly damaged Holy Lyre der Himmel to Barbara, she has a minor freakout, bemoaning that not even Barbatos forgiving her would let her atone for this sin. [[spoiler:She has no idea that the boy in green in front of her is not only her god incognito, but is also more or less the one who got it destroyed in the first place. Venti obviously feels bad about this.]]
* MagicMusic: Both her Elemental Talents run on this theme. Her Skill creates a floating ring of musical bars that heals the active character, while her Burst is a cutesy flourish that heals the whole team.
* MagikarpPower: Barbara is a pure healer who isn't designed to deal damage... until you start collecting the Ocean-Hued Clam artifact set from the Slumbering Court in Inazuma. Its four-piece bonus creates a Sea-Dyed Foam, a bubble that lasts three seconds before popping to damage surrounding foes (with damage worth 90% of the accumulated healing, including overflows, to a maximum of 30,000 HP, or 27,000 points of damage) within at least 3.5-second intervals. With both her Elemental Talents completely geared towards healing, she can hit this cap quite handily, letting her turn her potent healing into a lethal weapon.
* MakingASplash: Has a Hydro Vision, and her normal attacks smack enemies around with bursts of water.
* MeaningfulName: "Barbara" means "foreign." She herself was born and raised in Mondstadt, but her idol singer aspirations were thanks to Alice's outside influence.
* MechanicallyUnusualFighter: As of writing (v4.5) her Burst is the only one purely geared for healing, with none in the way of damage-dealing or offensive support.
* MundaneObjectAmazement: The concept of idols is a foreign thing, especially in Mondstadt, known for being a city of bards. However, Barbara became an idol after reading ''Alice's Idol Magazine''. To make things more mysterious, there are hints that Alice [[spoiler:may not be of this world]].
* NiceGirl: A kind, sweet, bright and bubbly girl who strives to help others and bring smiles onto their face in her own ways. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_1I3-J56Iw One video]] released by [=HoYoVerse=] showcases this well, where she does nothing but chat and say encouraging things to the viewer.
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: Combining WhiteMagicianGirl with priestess/deaconess is common; adding IdolSinger to the mix, not so much.
* ObliviousGuiltSlinging: She begs for Barbatos' forgiveness [[spoiler:after seeing the Holy Lyre der Himmel mangled after Dvalin's rampage, unaware that Venti, who had the Lyre at that time, is Barbatos himself and is obviously uncomfortable about the whole situation]].
* OutOfFocus: Received a fair amount of focus in the v1.0 era, only to almost completely vanish from the plot starting v2.0. The most she's received since then is a singular scene in the "Of Ballads and Brews" event and serving as one of the launch cards for Genius Invokation TCG.
* ThePollyanna: Barbara is so dedicated to bringing joy to others that she does not allow herself to be depressed for so long, forcing herself to brighten up whatever happens.
* ProperTightsWithASkirt: Wears a pair of white ones under her outfit.
* RegeneratingMana: Barbara's first and fourth Constellation upgrades, respectively ''Gleeful Songs'' and ''Attentiveness Be My Power'', regenerates 1 Energy--the former, every ten seconds; the latter, for every enemy hit by her charged Normal Attack (up to 5 at once).
* SameSurnameMeansRelated: Averted, she uses her father's surname while Jean uses their mother's.
* SayItWithHearts: Some lines of dialogue and the names of her Elemental Talents feature a musical note (♪).
* SelectiveObliviousness: She can't quite piece together all the hints about [[spoiler:Venti's real identity]] despite performing incredible feats before her. She sees him [[spoiler:"fix" the Holy Lyre der Himmel, learns he can summon Dvalin, and even points out how his body seems different from a normal human when she tries to heal him]], but she either takes his flimsy excuses at face value or decides it's none of her business to investigate further.
* SlidingScaleOfGameplayAndStoryIntegration:
** Barbara grew up in Jean's shadow because her sister was [[TheAce good at everything]], and thus the former became an IdolSinger partly [[AlwaysSomeoneBetter to demonstrate she could be better than Jean at something]] (ironically, [[HiddenDepths Jean is also a good singer]]). Gameplay-wise, Jean is a [[SwissArmyWeapon highly versatile unit]] who can fill multiple roles in a team including healing, but while her Normal Attacks can heal, it is random, her main source of healing is locked behind her Burst, and none of her upgrades improve said ability; meanwhile, Barbara ''[[CombatMedic specializes]]'' [[CombatMedic in healing]], as apart from her Elemental Talents, her Normal Attack can heal the party while the Melody Loop is active, and with a full Constellation she can ''[[AutoRevive revive]]'' a fallen teammate to full health.
** Usually, [=NPCs=] flinch away if you use your attacks near them, but they'll clap if you do it as Barbara since she's the beloved local IdolSinger.
** Her Hangout Event tree reveals that Barbara is a decent cook, if specializing in spicy food, which is reflected in her utility passive.
* StarPower: Her Burst has Barbara perform a spinning flourish as she heals the party with a sparkling rain shower.[[note]]With healing worth (17.6–39.6% of her Max HP)+(1694–4999)[[/note]]
* StatusBuff: Barbara's first-ascension passive, ''Glorious Season'', confers upon the Melody Loop the ability to reduce the active character's Stamina consumption by 12%, while her second Constellation upgrade, ''Vitality Burst'', adds a 15% boost to Hydro Damage Bonus, in addition to reducing the cooldown time of her Skill by 15% (i.e., from 32 seconds to 27.2).
* StoneWall: Since the healing potencies of her Elemental Talents scale off of her Max HP, players are incentivized to make Barbara as tanky as possible, and as a result she's one of the few Catalyst units who can actually take a hit.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Barbara inherited her father Seamus’ ash blonde hair, and also shares similar blue eyes with her older sister Jean.
* ThisLooksLikeAJobForAquaman: Barbara strongly leans on healing and little else, as her damage output is very low and her Hydro application is subpar, and you do not want her to stay on the field for too long. However, she is a Hydro Catalyst unit given for free, one that every player has, making her the only unit able to reliably and quickly destroy Pyro-elemental shields and thus mandatory when the player is taking on such enemies as the Pyro Regisvine, the Pyro Hypostasis, the Pyro Abyss Lector in low-health mode, or [[spoiler:the second phase of La Signora]].
* TrademarkFavoriteFood:
** She loves spicy stuff, to the point where she chugs energy drinks spiked with Jueyun Chili as a pick-me-up during long practice hours. Naturally, her specialty dish is a painfully hot take on Cream Stew.
** Giving her spicy dishes (such as Stir-Fried Fillet) during the "Spices from the West" event naturally yields the best reactions from her.
* UpgradeArtifact: A variant--her third and fifth Constellation upgrades, ''Star of Tomorrow'' and ''The Purest Companionship'', add three levels to, respectively, her Burst and Skill.
* VagueAge: The story doesn't explicitly state Barbara's age, only that she is Jean's younger sister, and her soft voice, cheerful personality, and medium body build only makes it more ambiguous. That said, given that she goes for a drink at the Cat's Tail tavern in one branch of her Hangout event, it's possible Barbara is in her late teens.
* WasItReallyWorthIt: She believed that an idol can spread joy and ease other people's worries, so she promised the blind Glory that her lover would return, and that the sickly Anna will become well one day, but her worldview came into question once she learned how fast smiles can fade.
* WaterIsWomanly: Barbara's design is incredibly girly and almost all of her moves focus on healing the rest of the team.
* WhiteMagicianGirl: The biggest example out of the original lineup--she's a deaconess with a sunny personality who aspires to use singing as a way of healing others. Also she literally wears a white dress, white stockings, and a white cap. She is also a support unit focused on healing with low damage output.
* {{Workaholic}}: Almost as much as her sister, which is [[TruthInTelevision thematically accurate to real life idols]]. In fact, Barbara earned her Vision one night when she tried to sing a lullaby for a sick child who wouldn't stop crying, and she ended up passing out from exhaustion hours later. But when she woke up, the child was miraculously well again as a brand new Vision rested in her hand, convincing her that this was to be her life goal from there on out.

Rosaria is a nun with a rather unorthodox idea of piety. Cynical, blunt, and haunted by a bloodstained past of having been kidnapped by bandits as a child and eventually rising up its ranks until she was adopted by the Church, she takes it upon herself to covertly act as a purveyor of justice on its behalf while investigating potential threats to Mondstadt and swiftly eliminating them if necessary. Though brief, she appears during the end of Liyue's Archon Quest on the Traveler's return to Mondstadt, to help fight the Abyss Order in Wolvendom.\
\
Rosaria stealthily punishes sinners through her Elemental Skill, ''Ravaging Confession'', where she sneaks behind her target to stab then slash at them, and her Elemental Burst, ''Rites of Termination'', where she swings her spear around and hurls an Ice Lance to the ground that periodically blows gusts of cold wind on surrounding foes.[[note]]When fully upgraded, she gains the ability to boost Critical Rate, either for herself whenever she successfully lands a backstab with her Skill or for the party whenever she uses her Burst, as well as to the damage potency and speed of her normal attacks, in addition to restoring Energy, whenever she lands critical hits, and her Burst can now inflict a Physical resistance penalty.[[/note]]
----
* AccidentalMisnaming: Despite being a clergywoman, she can't be bothered to properly remember how to pronounce "Barbatos" and tends to mangle it whenever she tries to use it.
* TheAlcoholic: {{Subverted|Trope}}. She enjoys wine, but claims she never gets drunk. Her Serenitea Pot chat clarifies that she does not ''allow'' herself to get drunk, often holding herself back lest she be too tipsy to continue working.
* AlmightyJanitor: Rosaria occupies barely prominent positions due to her sloth, her habit of skipping town on daily duties, her inability to comply with the rules, and especially her lack of faith in Barbatos; however, she is also by far their most fearsome clergywoman thanks to her past as a bandit and her skills at espionage and assassination, to say nothing of holding a Vision.
* AntiHero: In theory, she is part of Mondstadt's defense against external threats. In practice, she's [[GoodIsNotNice not nice about it at all]], and she's not above dirtying her hands.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: During the 2021 Weinelesefest event, she asks Razor as to [[AndThenWhat what he intends to do should he discover his birth parents and judge whether or not they're good]], which is something Razor struggles to answer. While Rosaria meant well, she also points out that most Mondstadters are always brimming with optimism, leaving them unable to state the hard facts.
* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: Non-romantic example as part of the "Of Drink A-Dreaming" event. After the Traveler whips up a cup of tea for Rosaria, she claims that it reminds her of Barbara's attempts to socialize with her. She doesn't seem bitter about this and enjoys the tea. Lampshaded by Paimon, who comments that Rosaria is "in rare form" today.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: The description of her character namecard implies that she works as hard as she does to repay Mondstadt for the kindness it showed to her.
* BigSisterInstinct: She reveals to Razor that she feels this towards him as she considers both of them as adopted children of Varka during the "Of Ballads and Brews" event, while urging him to steel himself for the risks that come with the search for his biological parents.
* BoobsAndButtPose: Her official art has her in this pose, as shown by the above image.
* BreakingOldTrends: Rosaria is the first playable character whose Character Introduction and Wish artworks match, a trend since followed by almost all characters after her.
* BrutalHonesty: She bluntly tells Barbara she does not care about religious observances and that she is wasting her time trying to drag her to one and tells off the Traveler for trusting Albedo so easily.
-->'''Kaeya:''' ''(about Rosaria)'' "She's honest with herself. She casts off that which she has no time for, and she does not feign motivation for affairs that do not interest her."
* CharacterCatchphrase: At least in the English dub, in some of her voice-overs she seems fond of saying "What a nuisance."
* ChurchMilitant: Rosaria embodies this trope, voluntarily taking on work deemed too dirty for the Church to handle in the open, such as eliminating threats. Fittingly, her Normal Attack is named ''Spear of the Church''.[[note]]With damage multipliers of 64.396–136.82% (average) for the 5-hit combo form, 136.74–289.38% for the charged form, and standard values for the plunging form[[/note]]
* CommonalityConnection: The "Of Drink A-Dreaming" event reveals that she and Kaeya are drinking buddies. They are both Cryo Vision holders and are cynics with a DarkAndTroubledPast who don't play by the rules and play as hard as they work, although Kaeya is significantly more casual and flirtatious.
* CriticalHitClass: Both of Rosaria's ascension passives increase Critical Rate. That for her first, ''Regina Probationum'', gives her a 12% boost for five seconds whenever she successfully hits an enemy from behind with her Skill; that for her fourth, ''Shadow Samaritan'', increases those of her allies for ten seconds based on 15% of her own (to a maximum of 15%) whenever she triggers her Burst.
* CutenessProximity: While she [[PersonOfMassDestruction understandably]] views Klee as trouble, she can't help but admit that she's "[[BadassAdorable the cute kind of trouble]]".
* DamageIncreasingDebuff: Her sixth Constellation upgrade, ''Divine Retribution'', allows her Burst to impose a 20% Physical Resistance penalty on enemies for ten seconds.
* DamageOverTime: Her Burst starts with a polearm swing before throwing down an Ice Lance, which then deals Cryo damage on surrounding enemies in four waves two seconds apart (hence a duration of eight seconds).[[note]]With damage multipliers of 104–234% for the swipe, and 152–342% and 132–297% for the Ice Lance's initial strike and subsequent waves, respectively[[/note]] Her second Constellation upgrade, ''Land Without Promise'', extends its duration to twelve seconds (and hence six damage waves).
* DarkAndTroubledPast: As a child, her parents were killed and she was kidnapped into slavery by bandits, then somehow joined that group after killing its leader (and at the same time received her Vision). She was spared when the Knights took down the gang and sent her to a convent despite her lack of faith in Barbatos, during which she found being Mondstadt's protector in the shadows a suitable vocation.
* DeathByOriginStory: Rosaria's parents were killed shortly after her birth by a band of bandits who massacred her village, who then took her and raised her as their slave. She later joined the band after killing their oldest member who had served as her foster father in her life (despite still enslaving her) in fair combat and getting a Cryo Vision as a reward.
* DefrostingIceQueen: First introduced as an ice-cold, blunt woman, later interactions with Rosaria reveal a soft spot for the Traveler, reinforced in the "Of Drink A-Dreaming" event by their ability to put her in a good mood to back up Kaeya's comments that a good bartender lifts their patrons' spirits.
* DistaffCounterpart: Like Diluc, Rosaria is a red-haired vigilante whose day job is a cover for their dirty work.
* DoesNotLikeSpam: Rosaria describes eating hash browns with jam as "sacrilege," which is amusing not only because it is unusual of her to be that picky, but also because hash browns paired with jam are a Mondstadt staple.
* ElementalPersonalities: A [[AnIcePerson Cryo]] Vision wielder who, no {{pun}} intended, is an IceQueen (albeit one that's so far {{defrost|ing Ice Queen}}ed a little bit thanks to the Traveler).
* ExhaustedEyeBags: Very much visible on her in-game model, reflecting her position as someone who works day and night.
* FanservicePack: Subverted. Around the time of her debut in v1.2, Rosaria could compete with La Signora for having the largest breasts of any female character. That said, when it comes to her playable model, hers shrunk to a size comparable to other tall females such as Lisa and Ningguang. She was also one of the four female characters who gained a more modest outfit (or an optional outfit for global servers) to comply with Chinese censorship laws.
* FemmeFatalons: She has sharpened metal claws over her gloves to better illustrate her identity as the enforcer of the Church, rather than being a healer like Barbara.
* FlashStep: Her Skill begins with a feint move that has her sneak behind her target and perform a thrust-and-swipe combo.[[note]]With respective damage multipliers of 58.4–124.1% and 136–289%[[/note]] Note that Rosaria is unable to move around larger enemies such as Lawachurls and Ruin Guards with this.
* {{Foil}}: To Barbara. Whereas the latter is warm, kind, caring, and has a difficult time telling the truth, Rosaria is cold, aloof, abrasive, and is [[BrutalHonesty not afraid to speak her mind]]. Likewise, Barbara is a dedicated healer, while Rosaria is a frontline fighter. Lastly, while Barbara has a Hydro Vision, Rosaria has a Cryo.
* GoodIsNotNice: Rosaria has Mondstadt's best interests at heart and is willing to share a word or two of advice to the Traveler, but is otherwise quite caustic.
* HartmanHips: While her hips aren't any more pronounced than other tall females, the splits in her skirt and fishnet stockings call attention to it in a way which the others' outfits don't.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: Rosaria rarely display a pleasant side, mostly when it comes to those who protect others. She will even offer advice to the Traveler as they grow closer, namely to never let go of their past self. It's shown in the "Of Drink A-Dreaming" event that she is easier to get along with on a good day at the tavern; she just has little patience for how uptight the rest of Mondstadt is.
* HidingBehindYourBangs: Her hair covers her left eye, and she has a habit of staying out of church despite her job as a nun.
* InformedAttribute: According to the character stories, Rosaria is an avid smoker, along with other traits [[NunTooHoly unbecoming of her station]]. However, she lacks any animations depicting her doing so.
* InspectorJavert: In Albedo's Story Quest, Rosaria suspects him of being a potential danger and keeps watch on the Traveler as they are collaborating with him. While she lets them go in the end, [[spoiler:unbeknownst to both of them, Albedo is indeed a potential danger, albeit through no fault of his own]].
* JerkassHasAPoint: As abrasive as she can come off, Rosaria still makes some good points every now and then.
** In Albedo's Story Quest, she calls out the Traveler for helping Albedo without knowing of his true intentions, and she suspects he is hiding a secret that may endanger Mondstadt. Unbeknownst to the Traveler, she is right.
** During the Weinelesefest event, while she shows a BigSisterInstinct towards Razor, she asks him [[AndThenWhat what comes next should he find his biological parents, let alone whether they were good or not]], and emphasizes that the people's optimism leaves them blind to facing reality.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Rosaria is an IceQueen through and through, but one that nevertheless carries on with her duty to protect the Mondstadtian folk, however [[GoodIsNotNice sour]] her demeanor can be.
* KnightInSourArmor: Rosaria genuinely believes in Mondstadt's principles and desires to protect the city but has been jaded by her line of work to the point that she [[{{Irony}} lacks faith in the gods]].
* LightningBruiser: Rosaria's kit specializes in swift strikes with high damage values, [[CriticalHitClass and both her ascension passives and most of her Constellation upgrades increase her chance of dealing critical damage]]. Finally, both her HP and her Defense stats are high enough that she can take as much damage as she can dish out.
* MeaningfulName: Roses are a symbol of the Virgin Mary in UsefulNotes/{{Christianity}}, in particular the Roman Catholic Church, hence rosaries, and Rosaria is a nun with a [[TheTragicRose rose motif]].
* MsFanservice: Her initial choice of clothing is very revealing, especially for a nun. She wears a very tight outfit that emphazies her breasts and exposes her back, along with fishnets on her legs. Even her censored outfit is also skintight and thus is not much better at hiding how busty she is.
* NaughtyNun: Her choices of clothing, whichever they may be, aren't exactly conservative at all, and are in fact played up heavily for {{fanservice}}.
* NayTheist: Rosaria is a sister, but she is more dedicated to Mondstadt itself than any deity and cannot even recall Barbatos' name at times.
* NoiselessWalker: Being a specialist in stealthily disposing of threats to Mondstadt, Rosaria is trained in the art of moving quietly. During the third act of the "Windblume's Breath" event, Scarlett did not notice her stalking her until both of them were already on the floating island where the Hexenzirkel held their tea parties and Albedo points it out. Afterwards, after confirming that there was nothing that she needed to be concerned about, Rosaria was seen leaving without saying goodbye, and everyone else were too focused on the glowing lamp to notice.
* NotAMorningPerson: In her morning voice lines she is clearly exhausted, and part of the reason she skips morning choir practice is because getting her up at that time of day to do something she does not want to take part in at all is a hard sell. {{Justified|Trope}}, as she works at night.
* NotSoAboveItAll: Despite her attempts to always appear calm and collected, she often betrays a more absent-minded and scatterbrained side.
-->''(About Hello) "Listen disciple, if you've got a problem you can't handle, then I'm the one for the job. But if you're looking for prayer, you'd better find some other Sister ...Huh? You're not a disciple?"''
* NunTooHoly: Rosaria wears revealing clothing, has a vorpal tongue, can be too paranoid for her own good, and is a tad overzealous. She notes during the Windblume Festival she prefers spending time in local taverns to the Favonius Cathedral, and one of her voice lines has her forget how to pronounce "Barbatos," the very god she ostensibly serves. This is a consequence of her DarkAndTroubledPast and choice of hobby. She has little faith in Barbatos and spends more time working at night fighting and drinking than she does her day job, and often smokes on the Cathedral grounds on the rare occasions that she does show up. The Church appears to only keeps her on its staff because almost no one else is ready and willing to do the work she does.
* PartTimeHero: By night, Rosaria is a ruthless and efficient vigilante hunting down Mondstadt's enemies from the shadows. By day, she returns to her "duties" as a nun, spending the better part of her day resting in a quiet corner of the City or hitting up the bar. Her key principle, which is ironically the one thing she follows religiously, is ''no overtime''.
-->''(Chat: Overtime) "Everything is negotiable, except overtime."''
* ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything: Rosaria is a nun who does not worship any god. She only does the bare minimum of the work needed from her, and never onscreen. She does not see this as a big deal and cites other examples of the trope to justify herself.
-->''(More About Rosaria: II) "What's weird about a sister without reverence for the gods? There are hunters who don't eat pork and fishermen who don't eat fish, aren't there? Just because you do something doesn't mean you love to do it. That's how every job goes."''
* ProfessionalKiller: Highly implied to be this in regards to her taking on any kind of dirty business on her own shoulders, which puts her at a marked contrast to almost the entirety of the playable cast.
* ProperlyParanoid: Rosaria is suspicious of Albedo. While he is not malicious, he is rather heedless of the consequences of his research; thus, her fear that he may go overboard with his studies is not entirely unwarranted.
* OrnamentalWeapon: One of her idle animations and her Party Setup animation has her brandish a short blade on her hand that she doesn't use.
* RegeneratingMana: Her fourth Constellation upgrade, ''Painful Grace'', regenerates 5 Energy whenever she lands a critical hit with her Skill.
* ReiAyanamiExpy: She has short, wine-colored hair, magenta-pink eyes, and pale grey skin. Rosaria is also [[TheStoic stoic and aloof]] (unless she is forced into religious events), preferring to distance herself from the people if she can help it. This, of course, stems from her DarkAndTroubledPast where keeping to herself was what kept her alive.
* SexyBacklessOutfit: Her back completely is bare. While obvious in official art, in-game it is harder to notice due to her large veil and pale skin, only really noticeable when she runs or glides.
* SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids: In Albedo's Story Quest, she asks why the Traveler would dare believe Albedo at face value and help with his experiments. The game also introduces her by scolding Barbara for thinking she cares about attending an event that the Church is holding.
* SituationalDamageAttack: Her first Constellation upgrade, ''Unholy Revelation'', raises both her damage potency and attack speed by 10% for four seconds whenever she lands a critical hit.
* SlidingScaleOfGameplayAndStoryIntegration: Among her duties as Mondstadt's guardian from the shadows are hunting down such threats as the Fatui. Fittingly, she can collect Fatui Insignias for Character and Talent Ascension, in addition to a boss drop from Tartaglia for the latter.
* SmokingIsCool: While it has never been shown directly, it is noted that she can often be found smoking outside ''and'' inside the Favonius Cathedral.
* SprintShoes: Her utility passive, ''Night Walk'', gives a 10% boost to the party's Movement Speed during nighttime (18:00–06:00).
* TheTragicRose: In addition to her DarkAndTroubledPast and her name, she is also closely associated with thorns, from the name and design of her Constellation to her headdress featuring spikes and to her Burst featuring an enormous lance wreathed with thorny roses.
* {{Unperson}}: If the situation calls for it, Rosaria is the last person an individual may see before they disappear under "mysterious circumstances."
* UpgradeArtifact: A variant--her third and fifth Constellation upgrades, ''The Wages of Sin'' and ''Last Rites'', add three levels to, respectively, her Skill and Burst.
* VigilanteWoman: She's technically a nun, but she only performs the bare minimum of duties needed from her in that role. Her ''de facto'' occupation is protecting Mondstadt from the shadows, and for this reason the Church tolerates her behavior. That said, this was never an official part of her job description. She threatened to arrest Paimon and the Traveler for eavesdropping, and even kept a close eye on their activities with Albedo for any signs of a threat to Mondstadt. Fischl also inadvertently overhears Rosaria in the middle of her enforcement.
-->''"May you be struck down in the name of Lord Bartabos[''sic'']!"''

[[caption-width-right:350: The Cardinal of Daybreak]]

The Seneschal of the Church of Favonius as well as father of Jean and Barbara, of which the only latter lives with him. Has only made an appearance in the webcomic so far, and in the present timeline of the game (Version 3.4) is currently away on an expedition with Grandmaster Varka.
----
* AmicableExes: With Frederica Gunnhildr, Jean and Barbara's mother. The outfit description of Jean's alternate default attire states that Frederica smiled when she found out that Seamus still kept her old knight's uniform.
* EarlyBirdCameo: Other than the official manga, during the quest to retrieve the Holy Lyre der Himmel in the Mondstadt a dialogue option with a Favonius nun mentions his absence.
* EyesAlwaysShut: Has never opened his eyes throughout the entirety of his screen time in the official manga.
* TheGhost: Has not been seen or mentioned much in-game despite being an influential leader of Mondstadt and the father of the Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius and the city's biggest idol.
* SolomonDivorce: Had this with Frederica Gunnhildr when they parted, with Jean staying with Frederica while Barbara went with Seamus, which is why Jean and Barbara have different surnames despite being blood-related sisters.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: His daughter Barbara inherited his ash blonde hair.

!!Cardinal Calvin
The Cardinal of Church of Favonius.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Grace]]
!!Sister Grace

A senior nun of the Church of Favonius, who serves as a mother figure for abandoned children in Mondstadt and often leads prayer sessions in front of the Statue of Barbatos.
----
* GoodShepherd: Sister Grace is known for her piety, often leading prayer sessions in front of the Statue of Barbatos and serving as a surrogate mother for several children in the city. The World Quest "Mondstadt and Its Archon" has her ask the Traveler to climb up the hands of the Statue and scatter dandelions as thanksgiving, while during the "Unreconciled Stars" event she asks the Traveler to find other Mondstadtians who have not yet retreated into the City during the meteorite showers.
* ParentalSubstitute: For Timmie, Glory, Nora, and several other abandoned and/or orphaned children in Mondstadt.
* SecretKeeper: She and Draff are among the few people who know that Timmie's father died in a hunting expedition, but are unable to tell him that until he comes of age.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Jilliana]]
!!Sister Jilliana

A retired Treasure Hoarder turned wife, mother, and nun, who is found praying inside the Favonius Cathedral.
----
* {{Blackmail}}: Was a victim of this. She had to frequently pay off a Treasure Hoarder named "Scrooge" who has been hounding her day and night after he got angry at her for leaving her comrades-in-arms and by the time the two met again threatened her that his "boss" will hurt her family if she doesn't comply.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: According to Tunner at Dawn Winery, she has quite an extensive knowledge when it comes to the wild and its herbs, and even notes that despite being a nun, she has the skill of a hunter gatherer. As a former Treasure Hoarder, she has to.
* HappilyMarried: With Rudolf.
* HeelFaithTurn: Once a Treasure Hoarder, Jilliana retired and joined the Church after meeting Sister Grace.
* RetiredOutlaw: Jilliama is a former Treasure Hoarder who secretly left the group after marrying Rudolf and bore Lily. Unfortunately, her "old buddies" aren't happy that she deserted them.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Victoria]]
!!Sister Victoria

A senior nun at the Church of Favonius known for her relentless attitude towards all kinds of sinners.
----
* KnightTemplar: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. Victoria is about as relentless as Rosaria when it comes to sinners, but she doesn't punish them disproportionately. Several Commissions taken from her involve either driving away [[LoonyFan Albert]] from the Favonius Cathedral or checking in on Nimrod and making sure he's not on another drunken binge.
* ParentalSubstitute: {{Downplayed|Trope}} towards Barbara. Because her mother Frederica lives with her older sister Jean, and her father Seamus, with whom she lives, is away on an expedition with Varka, Victoria is often the one attending to her needs. Barbara's Hangout Event tree begins with her asking the Traveler to find the deaconess in Wolvendom, and one Daily Commission has her asking the Traveler to drive off Barbara's LoonyFan Albert.
* SitcomArchnemesis: With Albert, who she often catches stalking Barbara in the Favonius Cathedral.
