[[folder:#01 - Mighty Gazelle]]
[[quoteright:248:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/b424ea5f4c7cdd969a970fdc92d6721f.png]]
[[caption-width-right:248:''"[[NearDeathExperience I survived my accident]], [[HesBack and now I'm back with a vengeance!]]"'']]
[[caption-width-right:248:[[labelnote:Click here to see his F-Zero machine]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/8076159e4d5f76eb5cd43b7f12752e99.png''"It looks like a gazelle leaping across the plains of the savannah, doesn't it?"''[[/labelnote]]]]

Once a normal F-Zero racer, Mighty Gazelle was the most severely injured in the Great Accident that temporarily suspended the sport. At near death, he had to be converted into a cyborg in order to survive, and now lives only for F-Zero. Despite those who protest his further involvement as a contestant due to the apparent advantages granted by his cybernetics, he refuses to give up on racing.

His Machine is the '''Red Gazelle''', rated E-A-C, weighing at 1330kgs and created by Cyber Stick, Inc. with a [=CY=]96-Z1 engine. Due to Gazelle's condition, he no longer fears death, and it shows in his machine's very low durability. However, in every other field, the Red Gazelle performs decently to top-notch despite Gazelle's risky driving skills.
----
* AnimalMotifs: The gazelle, a very swift animal with low stamina.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: Through analysis and fine-tuning of his robotic limbs, Gazelle can hone his (already impressive) reflex-related components.
* {{Cyborg}}: Most of his human body couldn't be saved and his life has completely changed, but Gazelle (eventually) states that he doesn't miss his old body and [[MachineWorship enjoys being a cyborg]].
-->'''Mighty Gazelle:''' ''"You have no idea how good a coat of oil feels, or a good jolt of electricity."''
* TheDrifter: Implied.
-->'''Mighty Gazelle:''' ''"Plans? Who makes plans? I'll go where the wind takes me."''
* DubNameChange: Is known as MM Gazelle in the Japanese version of ''F-Zero X''.
* EmergencyTransformation: Cyber Stick, inc. saved his life.
* FragileSpeedster: In ''GX'', the Red Gazelle is quite fast and stable, with good boosting abilities, but that durability...
* FullConversionCyborg: Was almost entirely rebuilt with cybernetics after being severely injured in [[NoodleIncident The Great Accident]].
* GlorySeeker: When asked by Mr. Zero on why he became a racer, Mighty Gazelle states this is the reason.
* {{Gonk}}: His human form, seen in his ''X'' ending.
* LightningCanDoAnything: A very tame example.
-->'''Mighty Gazelle:''' ''"A million volts of running power -- [[BadassBoast who can catch me?]]"''
* NearDeathExperience: The "Big Accident", the reason for who/what he is today.
-->'''Mighty Gazelle:''' ''"It was enough to keep me out of the F-Zero for a while. But who can stay away?"''
* RoboSpeak: Subverted. He doesn't appear to come off as [[SpockSpeak detached]] or [[MachineMonotone machine-like]]. If anything, it sounds more like he's using AutoTune.
* SenseLossSadness: Averted. When Mr. Zero asks Gazelle if he laments the loss of his human body during a post-race interview on F-Zero TV, the cyborg gives a succinct reply: "Not at all."
* SurrealHumor: He seems to like the cyborg variant of skeleton humor based on an interview response aimed towards the other racers.
-->'''Mighty Gazelle:''' ''"My muscles hurt from laughing. [[IWouldSayIfICouldSay Even though I don't have muscles anymore.]]"''
* TransformationSequence: Mighty Gazelle's [[https://youtu.be/TzZJBIhlB7k?si=X6SLIAFiDMuMpV-b&t=180 Pilot Video]] in ''GX'' features an impressive transformation sequence [[spoiler:... [[RuleOfFunny into a moped]]]].
* WeCanRebuildHim: Cyber Stick Inc. had to replace most of his body parts with cybernetics in order to save his Life.

[[folder:#02 - Jody Summer]]
[[quoteright:188:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/a68432c36c75adc4810c6af86f0b913c.png]]
[[caption-width-right:188:''"The best in {{the federation}} is the best in the galaxy."'']]
[[caption-width-right:188:[[labelnote:Click here to see her F-Zero machine]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/04101ccf7b89a4c55ea77c52d42a25a4.png''"Those who don't take my White Cat seriously learn to regret it."''[[/labelnote]]]]

The top combat fighter pilot and official spokeswoman of the Galactic Federation, Jody is recognized as a hero by many of her colleagues, who constantly praise her bravery and feats. Representing the Federation in F-Zero alongside her teammate John Tanaka, Jody's job is to deal with the many dangerous criminals that taint the competition by stealing their victories away, compensating her lack of experience with sheer skill at controlling speed.

Her Machine is the '''White Cat'''. It is ranked C-C-A, weighing only 1150kgs, and created by the Galactic Space Federation with four [=FGS-EO55S=] engines. The machine was designed to function in any kind of environment and/or terrain, and focuses on grip more than anything else, performing decently in most areas. This makes driving on any course easier than normal and is a great choice for beginners.
----
* TheAce: Named "Miss Galactic Space Federation" and operates as a spokeswoman for the organization.
* AmbiguouslyBrown: She's depicted with a tan in ''X'', which is not carried over to ''GX''.
* AnimalMotifs: A cat. Smart and independent.
* AppropriatedAppellation: In a sense. White Cat was a pet name her father gave to Jody, who in turn bestowed it on her vehicle in honor of him.
* BoobsAndButtPose: Strikes one in response to the player selecting her in ''GX/AX''.
* DamselOutOfDistress: In Chapter 5 of Story Mode in ''GX''. She avoids {{Chickification}} on the basis that Black Shadow mows over ''everyone'' not named Captain Falcon or Deathborn and was holding Jody hostage as bait to lure out Falcon. Unfazed by her capture, she was ready and rearing to race in the Grand Prix ''the next day''.
* DarkhorseVictory: People are expecting Jody to pull this off due to her ability to control speed.
* {{Expy}}: To [[Franchise/{{Metroid}} Samus Aran]]. For starters, she looks like [[http://www.vgfacts.com/attachments/thumbs/1/1595.jpg the famous bikini ending]] of ''VideoGame/{{Metroid|1}}''. There's also the shoulder armor and that lightning that resembles the Screw Attack symbol.
* GlassCannon: Contrary to its official stats, the White Cat in ''GX'' is actually inconsistent in terms of handling (it has great cornering, but it's otherwise unstable and slippery), which, coupled with fragile shields, can make the vehicle more danger-prone than it should be. Its top speed and boost are decent though, which can compensate for those issues.
* HairFlip: One of her {{Idle Animation}}s in the Machine Settings screen from ''GX/AX''.
* LongHairIsFeminine: Without her helmet, she has long flowing locks of beautiful hair.
* OfficerAndAGentleman: The grace and femininity of a woman, but Jody definitely knows when to unceremoniously drop the hammer of justice down upon evildoers.
* ProgressivelyPrettier: Had a very butch face in X, but it became much softer and more feminine in GX.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: As the spokeswoman of a para-militaristic organization that works to ensure law, order, peace, and harmony throughout the cosmos and holds control over seven galaxies, Jody easily comes across as this.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: It's Summer, not Summer'''s'''.
* UnwantedAssistance: Although she's polite and amiable enough to not say it aloud, this is how she feels about John Tanaka's "help." She treasures his value on her team as a mechanic, just not during the races.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: She confesses to a dislike of octopi in ''GX''. When playing as Octoman in ''X'' or ''GX'', Jody tends to be the player the computer chooses to be your rival.

[[folder:#04 - Baba]]
[[quoteright:248:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/8be1fc5a3fd8397637c43ae3782dbd59.png]]
[[caption-width-right:248:''"F-Zero is the only worthy recipient of my affections!"'']]
[[caption-width-right:248:[[labelnote:Click here to see his F-Zero machine]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/85a2537124c98b45cc0833ea08927ac6.png''"I love her. She's beautiful, isn't she?"''[[/labelnote]]]]

Baba is an enthusiastic, flamboyant, free-willed man from Giant, a planet known for its natural beauty. He was recruited into the ''F-Zero Grand Prix'' due to the animal instincts he was born with as well as his tough, muscular physique. Upon recruitment, he underwent extensive training in order to get first prize, but because he didn't win, Baba decided to go through a spiritual journey so that he could achieve victory next time. The results of this journey have made him twice as strong and overconfident.

His machine is the '''Iron Tiger''', ranked B-D-A, weighing 1780kgs, having two RF-2E-SD engines, and created by the F-Zero Pilot Training School. The design focuses on making sure up-and-coming F-Zero pilots could handle the average F-Zero race. Fortunately, the Iron Tiger has an excellent stability control that, with Baba's wild driving skills (and everything else), makes it a formidable machine.
----
* AmbiguousGenderIdentity: According to the ''GX'' interviews, Baba has no problem addressing himself (herself?) with either masculine or feminine nouns.
* AnimalMotifs: A tiger. A strong, but fabulous animal.
* CampGay: His voice and his ''GX'' video. In fact, a cut Expert-level interview has Baba outright call himself "the F-Zero goddess."
* DragQueen: Hinted at with an exchange [[{{Bowdlerise}} removed from]] ''GX''[='s=] NTSC version, wherein Baba, who exhibits no crossdressing tendencies otherwise, proudly proclaims, "Never underestimate a man in drag!"
* TheFightingNarcissist: He might give [[VideoGame/StreetFighterII Vega]] a run for his money.
* GorgeousGeorge: If, by some chance, Baba didn't fall under the above, he'd ''most certainly'' be this. [[SchmuckBait Just watch]] his interviews with Mr. Zero or his [[https://youtu.be/TzZJBIhlB7k?si=IqwYYsovkR_T75c9&t=215 Pilot Video]] in ''GX''.
* ItsAllAboutMe: He is so egocentric that he plans to use the prize money to build a massive statue of himself.
* JackOfAllStats: The Iron Tiger in ''GX'' is overall solid, only having below-average acceleration.
* MachoCamp: He's effeminate but muscular.
* PrideBeforeAFall: Not there yet, but he's setting himself up for this, seeing as his cockiness is pushing him towards [[ArrogantKungFuGuy Arrogant F-Zero Guy]] status.
* PrimalStance: His default pose when tweaking your vehicle's speed setting in ''GX''.
* PurpleIsPowerful: He does possess a few supernatural abilities. That's probably why he wears that purple spandex.
* ScreamsLikeALittleGirl: In ''X''. Everyone thought it was a glitch at first, but then came ''GX''...
* UnimpressiveProgressReveal: The joke behind his ''GX'' [[https://youtu.be/TzZJBIhlB7k?si=IqwYYsovkR_T75c9&t=215 Pilot Video]].
* WalkingTheEarth: After losing in the GP in ''X'', Baba, knowing that there was still much he needed to learn, set off of a spiritual journey.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:#08 - Octoman]]
[[quoteright:245:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1ac9f650098f352e98d776862879ae2d.png]]
[[caption-width-right:245:''"[[HypocriticalHumor Spineless, the lot of them.]] [[BringIt Bring on some real competition!]]"'']]
[[caption-width-right:245:[[labelnote:Click here to see his F-Zero machine]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fe991913178d69e261256768b714a934.png''"It's a second hand machine, but it's a gem."''[[/labelnote]]]]

An alien from Takora, a planet which is currently at odds with the Milky-Way Space Federation. Takora is currently facing some terrible hardships due to unstable economy and constant threat from enemies. Thus, Octoman races in order to provide for his (large) family and also contribute to his world's government with the rest of his earnings.

His machine is the '''Deep Claw''', ranked B-B-C, equipped with two OCT-108 plus two ASHI-24 engines and weighing 990kg. The Takorans were pressed for time and had to order a standard model from the Kurosuminov Intergalactic Shipbuilders company, making some necessary adjustments in the cockpit to allow a member of their race to operate the machine with no problem. The machines' capabilities are unchanged from the factory settings though, which is why it's average all across the board.
----
* AdaptationalVillainy: He's depicted as a member of Zoda's gang in the anime and in the ''VideoGame/StarFox'' series. In the main series, he's a good person who's trying to support his family and homeland.
* AmusingAlien: The [[FunnyOctopus comical and friendly]] [[OctopoidAliens Octopoid Alien]].
* AnimalMotifs: Likens himself to an elephant, oddly enough.
-->'''Mr. Zero:''' "If you compared yourself to an animal, what would it be?"
-->'''Octoman:''' "Gentle, but strong. I'd have to say an elephant?"
* AnimalThemedSuperbeing: Don't let his name fool you; he's actually an elephant-themed hero.
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: An I.Q.-related version, but ''not'' an InsufferableGenius.
* AssInAmbassador: It's not entirely his fault; despite trying to maintain peaceful relations between Earth and Takora, his tendency to flaunt his intellectual superiority has him come off as stuck-up at times.
* BadassArmFold: Does this with two of his tentacles in ''GX'' while at the Machine Settings screen.
* BilingualBonus: "Tako" is Japanese for "octopus".
* FanDisservice: His ''GX'' [[https://youtu.be/TzZJBIhlB7k?si=dCIlVLlaOjEKcSFO&t=251 Pilot Video]] has him participating in a bodybuilding competition.
* FriendToAllChildren: Much like Leon, he's racing to support the younglings of his home planet.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: Averted, although his goal is almost as good (for him anyway); he's trying to save his fellow octopi the universe over from being eaten.
* FunnelMouthedCephalopod: He's an octopus-looking alien with a funnel-like opening for a mouth.
* GrassIsGreener: If you think being an octopus is cool, Octoman will be quick to remind you about the possibility of being eaten.
* HappilyMarried: A wife and nine kids.
* JackOfAllStats: The Deep Claw is average at everything, both in ''X'' and ''GX''. In-universe, it's noted to be this way because Takora, being a little behind the curve technologically, purchased an old racer and left it on the basic settings they got it.
* MasterOfNone: The Deep Claw's profile in the ''GX'' Player's Guides and internal CARDT file says it's mediocre when using default settings and insists the player use the in-game slider to give it more of a fighting chance by skewing it more towards the Top Speed or Acceleration sides, strangely being the only machine description to BreakTheFourthWall and advise the player directly.
* MultiArmedMultitasking: He chalks up the bulk of his racing abilities to his extra arms.
* NiceGuy: Although Octoman can come across as being stuck-up, he can also be quite friendly. His motivation for racing is also one of the more sympathetic ones, as he just wants to do right by his children and homeland.
-->'''Mr. Zero:''' "A message for all your TV fans out there?"
-->'''Octoman:''' "I love you all!"
* NumerologicalMotif: A humanoid octopus racer with the number 8 on his machine? Who would've guessed?
* OctopoidAliens: Him and likely the whole population of Takora.
* TheRival: Is considered a rival of Jody Summer in ''GX'' which seems to partially be spawned from the fact that octopi make her uncomfortable. Jody has a large chance of being Octoman's AI rival in Grand Prix mode.
* ReusedCharacterDesign: In ''VideoGame/StarFoxCommand'', Octoman appears as a member of the [[TheEmpire Anglar Empire]].
* SkillGateCharacters: Many players consider the Deep Claw [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpVIjBhVNNs&pp=ygUaRi1aZXJvIERlZXAgQ2xhdyBCZWdpbm5lcnM%3D a good machine for beginners to learn with.]]
* WeAreAsMayflies: He's 88 years old and acts like a middle-aged man.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:#09 - Mr. [=EAD=]]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/69bb1a4a2ce3e6ad0b5934569f587b58.png]]
[[caption-width-right:300:''"[[NoblewomansLaugh Hohohoho!]] This should make for interesting data. Come on, then!"'']]
[[caption-width-right:300:[[labelnote:Click here to see his F-Zero machine]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/3ee59374636e1d4b95c4f0fc95dd37c7.png''"[[FridgeHorror When I think of how my brother was recycled as my racing car-]]"''[[/labelnote]]]]

An android created by the mysterious [=EAD=] group, Mr. [=EAD=] races as the ultimate test for his A.I. programming. In case Mr. [=EAD=] wins, his model will be considered flawless and eventually become mass produced. Despite being a robot, Mr. EAD shows plenty of emotion and personality.

His machine is the '''Great Star''', ranked E-A-D (get it?), weighing 1870kgs and equipped with two [=SS-C503-LV=] engine units. It was created by [[Creator/ShigeruMiyamoto Shiggs Mapone]], who is rumored to be the EAD group's president. It is made from the remains of the scrapped and recycled android that was his "brother". Despite weighing almost 2 tons and having a strong boost, the machine is rather frail, although that was most likely intentional as a way to test Mr. EAD's resilience in case of crashes.
----
* AmbiguouslyGay: He acts very campy. Keep in mind that he's an android, which makes things even more complicated.
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: His ''GX'' profile states that Mr. EAD had to go through combat training, spy activities and college exams before entering ''GX'''s Grand Prix.
* TheArtifact: Nintendo [=EAD=] was rebranded to Nintendo [=EPD=] in the mid-10's, making his name this in any subsequent appearance.
* ArtificialHuman: Created by EAD's R&D to see how fast an artificial being would be against regular humans.
* BigBeautifulMan: Although he can dip into Gonk depending on how he's depicted, Mr. EAD has a very handsome face and a [[{{Pun}} well built body]].
* BigBrotherWorship: He has nothing but gushing praise and love for his older brother, the Great Star he drives.
* BigFun: He's a big, endearing android.
* DifficultButAwesome: While his stats may be horrible on paper, he ends up being a beast on the track....if you know how to use him...
* DoAndroidsDream: His answer is a big yes, especially pertaining to his brother.
* DubNameChange: Not him specifically, but his creator Shiggs Mapone is called Shigeru Coupon in Japanese.
* EatingMachine: His [[https://youtu.be/TzZJBIhlB7k?si=M9byhOcM4E0bQ-kk&t=288 Pilot Video]] in ''GX'' shows him baking and eating a cake.
* TheFaceless: Only by a technicality. Mr. EAD is able to remove his face (which is a bit unsettling, but not quite at terrifying levels).
* GlassCannon: Bizarrely, the Great Star is super fragile, despite being one of the heavier vehicles. It does excel in acceleration and boosting as well, but it's not easy to use.
* {{Homage}}: To Nintendo's EAD group, as well as [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Mario]]. Heck, his creator was named [[Creator/ShigeruMiyamoto Shiggs Mapone!]]
** He likes [[TrademarkFavoriteFood Italian food]], wears a [[InvincibilityPowerUp Starman]] on his belt, dreams of [[RidiculouslyHumanRobots becoming more human]] and [[IconicOutfit wearing overalls]], and [[VideoGame/SuperMario64 eats lots of cake]] in his ''GX'' [[https://youtu.be/TzZJBIhlB7k?si=M9byhOcM4E0bQ-kk&t=288 Pilot Video]]. Investing in the robot manufacturing business looks like it'll pay off, Nintendo.
** The Great Star is Mr. EAD's brother, who the EAD thought would be better off being recycled into an F-Zero machine. Calm down, [[ButtMonkey Luigi]].
** He was built in Kyoto, the city Nintendo was founded.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: His dream is to wear overalls all day and take it easy.
* JokeCharacter: Allegedly, his machine is weak to test his resilience.
** LethalJokeCharacter: In GX, despite the listed stats being so horrible, he ends up having some of the best stats for advanced techniques in the game.
* {{Keet}}: You'd be hard pressed to find a guy as bubbly and jolly as him.
* LegacyCharacter: There has been at least one previous Mr. EAD, who after being rendered obsolete by the current model was [[WeCanRebuildHim rebuilt into the Great Star racer that the current Mr. EAD drives.]]
* MeaningfulName: He's named EAD for a reason. ''And it's 100% intentional.''
* NoblewomansLaugh: Yes, really. Hohohoho!
* PatrioticFervor: "Banzai!" For the record, he was built in Kyoto, Japan. [[Creator/{{Nintendo}} Ring a bell?]]
* RidiculouslyHumanRobots: He was programmed with a rather goofy personality.
* StoutStrength: He is second-fattest character in the franchise after Don Genie, but he has the most well-defined biceps.
* SuperPrototype: If he wins, expect to see an assembly line of him.
* UnderwearOfPower: He wears blue underwear that is connected to a belt with a [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Starman]] in the middle.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:#10 - James [=McCloud=]]]
[[quoteright:248:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fdf9745365014d8125982ce687a78edb.png]]
[[caption-width-right:248:''"My machine has no reverse gear. The only way out is the finish line."'']]
[[caption-width-right:248:[[labelnote:Click here to see his F-Zero machine]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/8371b5151e4ff46e7a1be343b526507d.png''"It's the top of the Space Dynamics line."''[[/labelnote]]]]

A mercenary and AcePilot, James [=McCloud=] is the leader of [[Franchise/StarFox Galaxy Dog]], a group that combats galactic threats. Because mercenary work is hard to find during times of peace, James competes in ''F-Zero'' races as an alternate source of income, so that he can support his wife and son. If his name sounds familiar, [[ShoutOut it should]].

His machine is the '''Little Wyvern''', ranked E-B-B, weighing 1390kgs and equipped with two [=FGS-C024M=] engines. Space Dynamics, the company that created the combat spacecraft Galaxy Dog uses in their missions, were convinced by James to modify one of their fighter ships into a racing machine. It might not be very durable, but performs well in the other areas. If that vehicle looks familiar, [[RunningGag it should]].
----
* ActionDad: A professional racer and mercenary who already has a young son.
* AnimeHair: ''GX'' has James grow his hair out into a spikier style and adds a white streak to his hair, making him resemble Fox's dad even more.
* CatchPhrase: "[[ThePowerOfFriendship Friendship is a treasure that lasts a lifetime.]]"
* CoolShades: [[Franchise/StarFox Just like the "other" James]].
* TheGlassesComeOff: His victory still in ''X'' is, to date, the only time we've seen James without his sunglasses. Otherwise, [[SunglassesAtNight he keeps 'em on at all times]].
* GratuitousDiscoSequence: His [[https://youtu.be/TzZJBIhlB7k?si=z4MfD8mG52QroxCr&t=323 Pilot Video]] in ''GX''. [[MemeticMutation Turns out that]] [[DoABarrelRoll Peppy was right]].
* HeroismWontPayTheBills: There is not much demand for mercenaries nowadays, which forces James to seek monetary success in ''F-Zero''.
* HiredGuns: Galaxy Dog are a group of mercenaries for hire. Lack of work in peaceful times is what drives James to take on F-Zero racing.
* {{Homage}}: To one of Nintendo's other [[Franchise/StarFox Science fiction franchises]]. He's the leader of the [[StealthPun Galaxy Dog]] [[BadassCrew squadron]] of [[HiredGuns mercenaries]] and works to support his wife and young son (who he is raising to be a better man than himself). His Little Wyvern (which resembles a modified, wingless Arwing) was created by Space Dynamics, the same group responsible for -- you guessed it -- the Arwings. He has brown, spiky AnimeHair with a white streak in the center and dresses in green overalls, a white jacket and boots, a red scarf and sunglasses. He even shares the name with an important backstory character.
* HappilyMarried: Kid included.
* JackOfAllStats: Trades armor for above-average speed, but that doesn't change the fact that he's average at everything else.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: He wears a red scarf, another reference to ''Franchise/StarFox''.
* ThereAreNoCoincidences: "No, there are no miracles in F-Zero. I ''earned'' this victory."
* TrueCompanions: Galaxy Dog, natch.
-->'''James [=McCloud=]:''' "My mates at Galaxy Dog are the greatest!"

[[folder:#11 - Billy]]
[[quoteright:248:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eaf3ae912d96820257582e166a7a8c17.png]]

The descendant of the first monkey to be in space, Billy was raised in a special laboratory where he learned human literacy and communication so that he could be qualified to compete in ''F-Zero'' races, where he shows exceptional talent. He's playful and obsessed with money for some reason.

His machine is the '''Mad Wolf''', ranked B-B-C, weighing 1490kgs and sporting a single [=CY95-F5=] engine unit. It was created by the Mad Baboon Research Facility, the same laboratory that raised Billy. This well-rounded ship was literally built so that even a monkey could use it, having a navigational system based on pictures, sights, colors and smells.
----
* AnimalMotifs: Despite being a simian, his machine is named after a wolf, oddly enough.
* AmbiguouslyRelated: His GX [[https://youtu.be/TzZJBIhlB7k?si=mUsvgqyi-WFHV5qX&t=360 Pilot Video]] features him with a smaller monkey resembling Billy himself, but there's no clarification if that's his actual child or not since he never mentions having a family to begin with, unlike several other characters.
* ApesInSpace: He's the descendant of the trope's originator.
* FunPersonified: His enthusiastic, jovial nature makes it easy for him to get along with the other pilots.
* InTheBlood: One of his ancestors was a trained space pilot and the first monkey to go into orbit. Subverted when people are unsure if Billy's racing aptitude is due to good genetics.
* JackOfAllStats: The Mad Wolf is quite all-around.
* LoanShark: What he apparently plans to become after receiving the prize money.
->'''Mr. Zero''': How will you use the one billion space credits in prize money?\
'''Billy''': Loan it to those in need. [[JerkWithAHeartOfJerk At an exorbitant rate!]]
* MoneyFetish: In ''GX'', a lot of his winning quotes have to do with money.
* OnlyOneName: Being a laboratory pet, it's justified that he only gets one simple name like "Billy".
* ShoutOut: In ''GX'', his belt buckle is decorated with the face of a [[VideoGame/SuperMonkeyBall certain ball-rolling monkey.]]
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: [[StockAnimalDiet Bananas]], obviously.
* UpliftedAnimal: Though it didn't require much other than learning human language.

A superstar singer who used to perform in ''F-Zero'' opening ceremonies, Kate Alen was attracted by the speed and intensity of the sport, leading her to become a pilot in spite of her successful musical career. Athletic and with a good sense of rhythm, Kate adapted to the racetrack fairly quickly.

Her machine is the '''Super Piranha''', ranked B-C-B, weighing 1010kgs, featuring two 0Z-P1 engines and created by Team Power Boys. It's a solid vehicle with average boosting capabilities. Kate, being a super rich celebrity, comissioned it with her own money. The cockpit was especially built with hi-fi equipment in order to drown out noises coming from the engine and the race itself.
----
* AfroAsskicker: This one is really up to the player.
* ArousedByTheirVoice: In-universe, her soulful singing voice is considered to cause this reaction.
* DanceBattler: Thanks to her sense of rhythm and athleticism picked up from her years of singing and dancing, Kate was able to quickly adjust to the F-Zero races. She even describes the event being "just like dancing."
* FashionShow: Her [[https://youtu.be/TzZJBIhlB7k?si=gOI85A5foFYc3ba1&t=395 Pilot Video]] from ''GX''. Involves UnlimitedWardrobe, as it's a one-woman show.
* IdolSinger: She's implied to be the futuristic version of one, given the prevalence of dancing and constant wardrobe changes in her performances.
* MasterOfNone: The Super Piranha doesn't really perform well at anything in ''GX''. The other JackOfAllStats at least tend to be above-average in one category.
* NonIdleRich: Being a wealthy celebrity, Kate doesn't need the prize money and competes for the thrills. She paid for the Super Pirahna with her own fortune.
* ThePrimaDonna: Considers herself to be one of the racetrack, but this might be a subversion, given her attitude and the modern denotation of the word.
* SassyBlackWoman: Her quotes and mannerisms give off shades of this, but if anything, she's closer to being a mild example of a [[SoulBrotha Soul Sista]].
* {{Stripperific}}: Her ''GX'' outfit, pictured above.
* UnderwearOfPower: At first. In ''GX'', she loses the white bodysuit, turning her getup into a ChainmailBikini-ThongOfShielding combo.

A wanted criminal, Zoda's many attempts at conquering the Earth have put him in conflict with the Arrows and Captain Falcon. He races in ''F-Zero'' competitions to raise funds for his evil plots, with his blatant disregard for the lives of the other racers having caused quite a few accidents, especially when ''F-Zero'' was in an underground phase. Zoda wears some sort of device that pumps adrenaline and dopamine into his body, which explains why he's so maniacal.

Zoda's machine is the '''Death Anchor''' (ranked E-A-C), featuring a single ZZ-2236 engine and weighing 1620kgs. The machine is actually a modified ballistic missile, which the Deathriddle Society stole from the Galactic Federation and transformed into a racing ship. This explains why the machine is so fast and frail, the latter being the one reason that's preventing Zoda from attacking other vehicles as much as he would like to. The warhead is still live, but Zoda isn't aware of this.
----
* ThirteenIsUnlucky: He's a villain who happens to be racer #13.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Whatever crazy stuff he did to himself turned him purple.
* ArchEnemy: Of the Arrows. He's something of a lesser [[TheRival rival]] to Falcon, as Falcon rounded up most of his henchmen.
* AxCrazy: He has it out for the Arrows and Falcon.
* CoolMask: He loses half of it in ''GX''.
* DrugsAreBad: Implied. The device on his head regularly pumps adrenaline and dopamine into his systems, which can be reflected in [[AxCrazy his state of mind]].
* EvilGenius: Sees himself as one.
* FangsAreEvil: [[SlasherSmile If he flashes his teeth]], that is a sign to run away. Nothing good will ever come of it.
* GlassCannon: Fitting for a missile, the Death Anchor is super fast and boost-excellent. Good luck handling it though.
* LaughablyEvil: Despite being evil to a large degree, Zoda comes off as funny while making an evil impression to the player, in direct contrast to other evil characters in the series. This is partially due to his status as a secondary villain compared to Black Shadow and Deathborn.
** ''GX'' lampshades this with Zoda asking why the TV deals he's getting are all for comedy shows.
* LeanAndMean: He's skinny, creepy and evil.
* MadScientist: As seen in his ''GX'' [[https://youtu.be/TzZJBIhlB7k?si=ScMtLNorywJnAH1h&t=431 Pilot Video]].
* ManEatingPlant: Implied. "I like to grow flowers... Flowers that kill people!"
* ShoutOut: He shares a name with the alien antagonist of ''VideoGame/StarTropics'' and its sequel.
* TakeOverTheWorld: His EvilPlan.
--> '''Zoda:''' "[[CardCarryingVillain It's every bad guy's dream]], [[Film/StreetFighter of course]]!"
* WasOnceAMan: In ''GX'' he said outright that he's from "Earth, I'm not an alien!"
* WeCanRuleTogether: Not one to accept defeat, he's trying to get the Arrows to join TheDarkSide so his plans can finally go off without a hitch.

Jack is the resident PrettyBoy of the ''F-Zero Grand Prix'', having once achieved previous fame in a pop group. Then his popularity skyrocketed when he decided to pursue his dream of becoming a F-Zero pilot, which wasn't difficult as the F-Zero officials were looking for a young face to attract an younger audience, and it worked too well as Jack is now always followed by a horde of fangirls. Other pilots, however, tend to find his massive popularity annoying.

His machine is the '''Astro Robin''', ranked B-D-A, weighing 1050kgs, equipped with two [=SS-C503-LVx2=] engines and created by Team Lightning Bolt. It's a very lightweight, easy-to-use machine with amazing acceleration that suits Jack's style, even if its top speed leaves something to be desired. The cockpit is filled with cameras that broadcast Jack's driving from various angles, for the sake of his female fanbase.
----
* AnimeHair: Starting with ''GX''.
* BoyBand: Was a part of one before joining the F-Zero races.
* CampStraight: Sometimes speculated to be AmbiguouslyGay ([[https://youtu.be/TzZJBIhlB7k?si=Tga12n6c4Yy7Rov4&t=467 his Pilot Video adds fuel to the fire]]), but if anything, he's closer to being TheDandy. Remember, while he has some odd clothing quirks, he has a GroupieBrigade of swooning women that he adores.
* ChestInsignia: His name is written out on his jumpsuit alongside a lightning bolt.
* FragileSpeedster: The Astro Robin has by far the best acceleration in ''GX'', although its top speed and durability are rather poor.
* HandsomeLech: He claims that his female fans -- ''all twenty billion of them'' -- are his girlfriends. Why he doesn't pull a move on the handful of single ladies in the games is a good question to ask.
* HiddenDepths: Despite his talents as a singer, his piloting skills are exceptional enough to also merit discussion.
* IdolSinger: A rare ''male'' example.
* MerchandiseDriven: In-Universe, any product sporting his image tends to sell out instantly.
* MommasBoy: By Jack's admission, she's the one person impervious to his charms, which makes her scary to him.
* MrFanservice: While his status as such is debatable among the fandom, in-universe, '''YES'''. Slap his face on ''anything'', and [[MerchandiseDriven it will sell]]. As of ''GX'', he's signing his ''1,745,233,248'' autograph.

The result of an illegally-conducted genetic manipulation experiment, Bio Rex was created from the DNA found in a fossilized dinosaur egg. Having his strength and intelligence altered by further experiments, Rex developed brain functions that were equivalent to that of a human. Bio Rex aims to win the ''Grand Prix'', just to prove his superiority towards humankind and maybe have a "taste" of his rivals.

His machine is the '''Big Fang''', ranked B-D-A, weighing 1520kgs and equipped with three TYRANNO-28 engines. Featuring a strong body, but low boosting, it was developed by the Keerlon Corporation, the same company that created him, off his own designs. Despite the company not wanting to associate with him anymore, they still allowed Bio Rex to keep the ship. Its control scheme was designed to be pretty tight (which might explain its excellent grip), taking advantage of Bio Rex's reflexes.
----
* ArchEnemy: To Beastman, being Beastman's sole motivating factor to enter the Grand Prix besides promotional purposes, since he sees him as another wild beast who is a threat to the other racers and another trophy to his collection. This relationship seems entirely [[UnknownRival one-sided]], however.
* BigEater: Loves ribs, and meat in general. Also [[TheAlcoholic loves liquor]].
* CarnivoreConfusion: As a bio-enigineered T-rex, Bio Rex still has the primal urges to sample his fares (read: "the rest of the cast").
-->'''Bio Rex:''' "I was all revved up to eat my opposition."
-->'''Bio Rex:''' "If I beat you [the other racers] again, I'll eat the lot of you!"
-->'''Bio Rex:''' "[[BreadEggsMilkSquick Hamburgers, steaks, hot dogs, humans]], [[ExtremeOmnivore anything with meat]]."

-->'''Bio Rex:''' "They all looked delicious. [[MyFriendsAndZoidberg Except for]] [[ButtMonkey Samurai Goroh]]."
* FaceOfAThug: He's as aggressive as you'd expect a T-rex to be, but he isn't evil.
* FragileSpeedster: Despite what those ''GX'' stats show, the Big Fang is very fast and relatively easy to control, but everything else is somewhat poor.
* GadgeteerGenius: While the Big Fang was manufactured by the Keerlon Corporation, Bio Rex designed it himself.
* GeniusBruiser: He was genetically engineered to be one. [[DitzyGenius The "genius" part is sometimes lost.]] Notably, he designed the Big Fang himself.
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: How many dinosaur racing pilots do you know?
* PredatorsAreMean: Subverted. Though he's noted to be as aggressive as Pico, Mr. Zero isn't afraid of him like he is with Pico.
* PrimalStance: What? You expected a genetically-engineered dinosaur to ''not'' be an example of this?
* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: He races to prove the superiority of dinosaurs to humans.
-->'''Bio Rex:''' "You [Mr. Zero] look surprised. [[CommonKnowledge Aren't dinosaurs supposed to win]]?"
-->'''Bio Rex:''' "I designed it [the Big Fang]. Dinosaurs are smarter than humans."

The man who became The Skull was originally one of the best racers in F-Zero's predecessor, the F-Max, during the 24th century. Wanting to race forever, he arranged for immortality with a combination of science and black magic - and it worked. He returned from the dead, now taking the name The Skull, and decided to join the F-Zero tournament two centuries later. Knowing that he can't die anymore, The Skull became one of the most feared drivers on the racetrack, skill-wise and literal-wise.

His machine is the '''Sonic Phantom''', which bears the rating C-A-D and weighs at 1010 kg, with one [=CY97-X4=] engine. Created by Abinus Company, who may have a part in Skull's revival, it is said that he uses the energy from the spectators to empower his vehicle. Also, his machine is unique as it ''has no steering wheel''[[note]]The render below him shows a steering wheel, but this is incorrect. The [[https://images-wixmp-ed30a86b8c4ca887773594c2.wixmp.com/f/f87fd505-dc46-4853-b95b-af8eb95e3701/db9rgck-d83697ff-90fc-4752-baa9-ea93a21d0bc7.gif?token=eyJ0eXAiOiJKV1QiLCJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJzdWIiOiJ1cm46YXBwOjdlMGQxODg5ODIyNjQzNzNhNWYwZDQxNWVhMGQyNmUwIiwiaXNzIjoidXJuOmFwcDo3ZTBkMTg4OTgyMjY0MzczYTVmMGQ0MTVlYTBkMjZlMCIsIm9iaiI6W1t7InBhdGgiOiJcL2ZcL2Y4N2ZkNTA1LWRjNDYtNDg1My1iOTViLWFmOGViOTVlMzcwMVwvZGI5cmdjay1kODM2OTdmZi05MGZjLTQ3NTItYmFhOS1lYTkzYTIxZDBiYzcuZ2lmIn1dXSwiYXVkIjpbInVybjpzZXJ2aWNlOmZpbGUuZG93bmxvYWQiXX0.zVZ2otQZdNKqL9jI6EKdAlnjTI5S7FB6dUc1GPX20d8 actual in-game model]] indeed lacks a steering wheel[[/note]]. While the safety and handling of the machine is sub-standard, it is extremely light and very fast.
----
* BackFromTheDead: He's an undead racer who races in a car with paranormal abilities.
* BlackMagic: Aside from the [[{{Magitek}} fusion]] of technology and [[{{Necromancer}} necromancy]] used to revive him, the Aura Engines of his Sonic Phantom are rumored to run on the lifeforce of the crowds. Last, but not least, take note of how his ride ''has no steering wheel''. '''''[[TheseAreThingsManWasNotMeantToKnow HOW DOES HE PULL IT OFF?]]'''''
* BloodKnight: He lives (errr...) for racing.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Looks sinister, but is really only interested in driving. Mr. Zero in ''GX'' isn't afraid of him either, like he is when interviewing the game's "proper" villains (and [[AxCrazy Pico]]).
* DrivesLikeCrazy: Combined with BadassDriver. After securing his immortality, he became far more reckless in his driving style. This allowed him to win even more races than before, as he would pull off maneuvers that his mortal peers wouldn't dare consider. After his resurrection, he seems to have retained this habit. As his vehicle [[FragileSpeedster trades off protective armor and handling for more speed]].
* DubNameChange: In the Japanese version of ''F-Zero X'', his name is Arbin Gordon. By ''GX'', he's named The Skull even in Japan.
* FearlessFool: His resurrection and immortality made him even more reckless on the track, and he is noted by the other racers to pull off stunts that most people would certainly die from.
* GlowingEyelightsOfUndeath: Having returned from the dead, the Skull has yellow glowing eyes in his eyesockets.
* GrassIsGreener: As a member of the living dead, he notes that living is not all it's cracked up to be.
* GraveMarkingScene: PlayedForLaughs, possibly extending into GraveHumor. He wants to visit his grave and then take a deep sleep in his coffin.
* TheGrimReaper: Several of his comments in ''GX'' mention the netherrealm, which implies that he's some sort of undertaker/ferryman for dead souls. However, he also [[BadassBoast boasts]] that "Not even the Grim Reaper could have kept up with me!", [[MindScrew so make of that as you will]].
-->'''The Skull:''' "This [the Sonic Phantom] has amazing boosters. It could blast ALL the way to the netherworld."
-->'''The Skull:''' "Is this [interview] being broadcast in the Underworld?"
-->'''The Skull:''' (''to his fellow racers'') "[[SeeYouInHell Here's a one-way ticket to the netherworld.]]"
-->'''The Skull:''' "Don't lose it [my autograph]. It's your passport to the netherworld."
* ImmortalitySeeker: Back during his F-Max days, but he managed to actually succeed in TheUndead way.
* KillItWithFire: How he died. During a massive pile-up crash, his car caught fire and he burned alive before he could escape.
** FireKeepsItDead: Averted. Despite burning to death, he was still later resurrected.
* LifeDrinker: His F-Zero racer is implied to fuel itself by the life energy of the spectator crowd.
* LightningBruiser: Poor armor aside, the Sonic Phantom is amazing at everything else in ''GX''.
* MeaningfulName: His moniker as "The Skull" is appropriate considering his "head" is a fleshless skull.
** Extends to the manufacturers of his car. Abinus is a easy anagram of Anubis, the Egyptian god of the dead.
* NoodleIncident: The Skull died in a great accident in F-Max, hinted to have been even worse than the "Big Accident" in the later F-Zero circuit, and which caused F-Max to get permanently shut down. He notes that F-Zero is a lot safer due to updates in safety standards.
* OurLichesAreDifferent: He is essentially a [[NinjaPirateZombieRobot race car driving Lich]], as not only was he resurrected from the dead by magic (and science), he has some magic powers of his own.
* PowerFloats: Both of his {{Idle Animation}}s at the Settings screen in ''GX'' involve The Skull somehow lifting his own body off of the ground as if he were a marionette.
* RedBaron: He was a former legend of the F-Max circuit until his death.
* ShoutOut: His normal idle stance, as depicted in the character image, is the same as [[VideoGame/MetalGearSolid Psycho Mantis's]] preferred stance. Right down to both levitating off the ground to show off their paranormal powers.
* StealthMentor: Possibly serves as this for the other racers. Many of his interview quotes are advice to his competition so that [[DeathIsASadThing they don't end up like him]].

Originally Samurai Goroh's longtime friend and second-in-command of the Red Canyon bandits, Guster was betrayed and abandoned by his partner during one of their bounty-hunting missions, which ended up with Guster being captured by the Galactic Space Allies while Goroh escaped with their target and cashed in on the bounty. After managing to escape from jail, Guster returned to his life as a solo criminal, wishing nothing more than revenge against his former friend. When he found out that Goroh entered ''F-Zero'', Guster decided to also enter the competition solely to defeat and humiliate Goroh on the track.

His machine is the '''Green Panther''', which bears the rating A-B-D, weighing 2060 kgs and equipped with two RS-5026SP engines. It was created by the same man who created Goroh's Fire Stingray, albeit Goroh and Guster retrieved it from another group of bandits. Originally Goroh's spare machine, Guster decided to take the ride as his own ''F-Zero'' racer. While it has a major drawback in handling, the huge power created by the engine should let Guster remain competitive at the track.
----
* AnythingYouCanDoICanDoBetter: Wants to defeat Captain Falcon just so he can rub it in Goroh's face.
* BadassArmFold: For some unknown reason, he'll sometimes cross his arms and then shake his head disapprovingly at the Settings screeen.
* BadassCrew: He's the leader of his own gang, most likely a TakeThat to Goroh.
* BaseballEpisode: Antonio has a small interest in playing baseball.
* BestServedCold: He tries to defeat Falcon so he can one-up Goroh.

* MightyGlacier: The Green Panther is pretty strong and even has decent boost and acceleration, but it's not going to reach high speeds and it's tough to use.
* MoneyFetish: As a bodyguard, Guster will protect someone as long as they pay him.
* ThePowerOfHate: Hatred is his first and foremost ally.

After nearly dying in [[NeverSmileAtACrocodile a giant crocodile attack]] on planet White, a young man adopted the identity of the fearless hunter Beastman to protect people from rampaging animals. Creating an intimidating costume from the remains of a slain dinosaur-like reptile, Beastman hides his bashful nature behind an imposing facade. Now his goal is to protect people from Bio Rex if he gets out of control.

His machine is the '''Hyper Speeder''', which bears the rating C-C-A, 1460kgs and three [=FGS-G105S=] engines. It was personally created by Dr. Clash. Originally an old fighter plane discovered by Beastman while on the prowl, he took it to Dr. Clash to refit it as a ''F-Zero'' machine. True to its name, it has the highest top speed of any middleweight machine, but lacks acceleration and doesn't take well to sharp turns on the higher max speed settings.
----
* AnimalMotifs: Dinosaurs. Why not?
* AnimalThemedSuperbeing: Again, dinosaurs.
* AntiHero: While he means well, his interviews show he is getting dangerously close to JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope.
* BadassBoast: He gets several in ''GX'', although whether or not he can back it up remains to be seen.
* BeneathTheMask: Underneath his intimidating and aggressive facade, Beastman is extremely shy.
* CoolHelmet: It's a trophy made from the biggest animal he's defeated.
* DisproportionateRetribution: Yes, Beastman, having a NearDeathExperience with a giant crocodile is tragic, but working towards "A peaceful world free of wild animals!" (if by "wild" he means ''all'' non-domesticated animals in general, not rampaging beasts) makes you sound like a WellIntentionedExtremist.
* {{Expy}}: Film/CrocodileDundee and [[Series/CrocodileHunter Steve Irwin]] [-[[RecycledINSPACE IN THE 26TH CENTURY]]-]!
* GoodScarsEvilScars: Due to the run-in with the aforementioned crocodile, [[CoveredWithScars his entire body is covered in scars]] ([[InformedDeformity that we can't see]]).
* GameplayAndStoryIntegration: ''X'' had a subtle rival system where characters related to yours, be they friends or enemies, would be placed next to yours at the start of a Grand Prix and would subsequently do better and be more likely to become the "main rival". Beastman is by far the most "hated" character, being an "enemy" of every non-human racer and [[WildChild Baba]]. Which makes sense considering his stance against "wild animals".
* IKnowKarate: Learned karate through {{correspondence course}}s.
* LightningBruiser: True to its name, the Hyper Speeder is hyper speedy, while also featuring excellent boost and control, as well as armor that's not completely worthless. Its only weak point is acceleration.
* NoseArt: The Hyper Speeder features the classic angry shark eyes and teeth.
* ShoutOut: His poses during the Settings screen in ''GX'' are reminiscent of Creator/BruceLee, whereas his [[https://youtu.be/TzZJBIhlB7k?si=di1MRYb2mioKXI0Q&t=607 Pilot Video]] draws heavily from ''Franchise/{{Batman}}''.
* UnknownRival: He seems to be this to Bio Rex, his self-proclaimed ArchEnemy. Aside from ''X'''s rival mechanic, Bio Rex doesn't specifically acknowledge him in any way; Beastman stated in an interview that he wants to make a helmet out of Bio Rex's head and his profile states that he wants to protect the other racers from his carnivorous nature, whereas Bio Rex views every other racer as another delicious meal... except for [[ButtMonkey Samurai Goroh]].

Leon is an anthropomorphic feline from the planet Zou. Twelve years ago, his parents were killed in a big war, and Leon was only spared death himself due to the heroics of a DefectorFromDecadence named Fable. Leon intends to become a symbol of hope for his war-torn planet, planning to use his prize money to save the children of Zou.

His machine is the '''Space Angler''', ranked C-C-A, with a weight of 910kgs and featuring two [=ANIM-01-7=] engines. It was actually created by Fable, a member of the creatures that ravaged Zou. [[HeelRealization Disgusted with what his people were doing to the planet]], [[HeelFaceTurn Fable changed sides]] and led the people of Zou to victory. In order to give Zou something to look forward to among all the post-war crisis, he engineered the Space Angler for Leon to pilot in the ''F-Zero Grand Prix''. The machine is one of the lightest out there, being easy to handle.
----
* AlienSky: The Space Angler is the color of the sky on Zou. In all honesty, that means that Zou isn't ''too'' different from Earth, but it still sounds kinda cool.
* AnimalStereotypes: Take all of the best traits of the cat family, tie it together in a nice bundle, and you've got Leon.
* ArtificialStupidity: In ''GX'', the Space Angler has become notorious for rarely, if ever, placing above 20th place. Ironically, this would probably fit better with his portrayal in ''X'', which notes Leon as using his reflexes and precision to make up for the fact that he isn't particularly smart.
* BigBrotherMentor: To the children of Zou. He routinely plays soccer with them (going as far as to promise to build a soccer field for them with the prize money) and helps out at the local orphanage. Overlaps with FriendToAllChildren.
-->'''Mr. Zero:''' "For the sake of the children, you can't lose, can you?"
-->'''Leon:''' "I fight for a reason. I ''win'' for a reason."
* CuteKitten: Come ''ON'', he's an oversized furball! What's not to love?
* CutenessProximity: Being an anthromorphic feline himself, Leon seems to have a natural affinity towards cats, as seen in his ''GX'' [[https://youtu.be/TzZJBIhlB7k?si=Ky2HuNMiUU1N5slR&t=644 Pilot Video]].
* DarkAndTroubledPast: See WarIsHell below.
* {{Expy}}: Much like King is to ''VideoGame/{{Tekken}}'', Leon is his universe's answer to [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fray_Tormenta Fray Tormenta.]] He even mentions that he's planning to take up wrestling and started an orphanage. He did all of this, alongside becoming a racer, "to see the smiles on the kids' faces."
* HappilyAdopted: He was adopted by by Fable, a [[HeelFaceTurn rebel soldier]] [[DefectorFromDecadence disgusted by the merciless tactics used by his comrades]] who ultimately led the people of Zou to a shaky victory against their invaders and designed the Space Angler to ensure that the already impoverished race wouldn't have to dig themselves deeper.
* HeartwarmingOrphan: A teenage version.
* InformedAbility: Poor Leon. The manual states that he's gotten better over time, but the A.I. plays him like crap in ''GX''.
* InterspeciesAdoption: By Fable.
* ItWasAGift: His gloves, which were a present from the children of Zou.
* JackOfAllStats: The Space Angler in ''GX'' is decently fast and easy to use, but average at anything else.
* MeaningfulName: [[BilingualBonus Leon is Greek and Spanish for "lion"]].
* MixAndMatchCritters: As of ''GX'', he looks like he has traits from both felines and wolves.
* ThePollyanna: Rare male example.
* StreetSmart: He's said to be not too bright, but extremely cunning.
* {{Retcon}}: His design itself can somewhat stem from this (as opposed to ArtEvolution). In ''X'', it was more apparent that Leon was a cat, and while he had two scars on his face, both eyes were in working order. In ''GX'', his appearance is more wolf-like. He retains the scars, but not his left eye. Oddly enough, his appearance in his ''GX'' Master Class video uses his ''GX'' look, with the exception of having two scars on his face but both of his eyes.
* WarIsHell: His {{backstory}} plays this one depressingly straight, as the big war that sacked Zou when Leon was only a cub of four years left Leon [[ParentalAbandonment as an orphan]] [[EyeScream bereft of his left eye]], as well as utterly screwing over Zou's populace and economy. Amazingly enough, Leon remains unshaken by these events.

A {{Superhero}} who defends Earth. Super Arrow has a long-standing feud with the supervillain Zoda. Upon finding out that Zoda had entered the ''F-Zero'' races, Super Arrow hastily signed up to tail his ArchEnemy, despite never having driven a vehicle before. He manages to use his superpowers and likely the help of his wife, Mrs. Arrow, to compensate for his inexperience at the track.

His machine is the '''King Meteor''', ranked E-B-B, weighing 860kgs, featuring three [=HW304-J9=] engines, and created by Professor Hollow, an ally of the Arrows who designs the suits and gadgets they use. It is also equipped with secret weapons. The boost and grip capabilities of the machine are solid, but its armor is rather weak.
----
* AmbiguouslyHuman: He is a superhuman after all. No background on how he obtained his superpowers or how he became a superhero in the first place is ever given.
* AnimalMotifs: Avians. He even has a pet robot falcon.
* BroughtToYouByTheLetterS: In case you forgot who he was, there's an "A" plastered on his mask.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: He's eccentric to say the least, but he isn't the defender of Earth for nothing.
* TheCape: [[SuperheroesWearCapes And he comes with]] [[BadassCape a pretty awesome cape to boot]]. Probably overlaps with TheParagon.
* GlassCannon: The King Meteor accelerates and boosts fine in ''GX'', but it's not good at handling or resisting hits.
* HenpeckedHusband: He gets an allowance from her. And when he was beating around the bush with his marriage proposal, ''she ordered him to marry her''. Despite Super Arrow's unrelenting attitude towards criminals, Mrs. Arrow ''clearly'' wears the pants in this relationship.
-->'''Super Arrow:''' (''on who's the better racer'') "I concede that victory to my wife. I'm scared not to!"
* HeroismWontPayTheBills: When Mr. Zero asks him if there are any downsides to being a superhero, he admits "the wages are really low".
* HumbleHero: He's the farthest thing from a SmugSuper.
* ICallItVera: Refers to the King Meteor as his "sword of justice".
* InformedAbility: The games have never demonstrated ''what'' those powers are (not including his [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fi098DRCQ9s video]] in ''GX'', where he's shown to have {{flight}} and mad guitar skillz), so it's unknown if he possesses the usual fare or something more [[WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway mundane]].
* JusticeWillPrevail: This is essentially his CatchPhrase.
-->'''Super Arrow:''' (''on his reasons for becoming a racer'') "[[ForGreatJustice For justice and galactic peace.]]"
-->'''Super Arrow:''' "Justice ''always'' wins in the end."
* NiceGuy: He genuinely enjoys his tenure as a superhero despite the drawbacks (such as [[HeroismWontPayTheBills low wages]]). May lead to (or result from) ChronicHeroSyndrome.
* PunnyName: Say his name aloud a few times and it starts to sound like [[{{Superhero}} his profession]] after a while.
* RobotBuddy: Speed Bird, his [[TheVoiceless silent]] [[TheOwlKnowingOne bird companion]] who doubles as the TeamPet.
-->'''Super Arrow:''' "It brings me good luck."
* SecretIdentity: Alluded to.
-->'''Super Arrow:''' "The defender of justice must keep his face hidden."
* ShoutOut: Somebody's been watching a bit too much ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheAnimatedSeries'' (even though he's more of a Superman type of guy).
-->'''Super Arrow:''' "I am Champion! [[IAmTheTrope I am Justice]]! [[PunctuatedForEmphasis I am SUPER ARROW!]]"
* StevenUlyssesPerhero: Judging by his wife taking his surname upon marriage, Super Arrow's last name is actually Arrow.
* SuperheroesWearTights: He's a classic superhero call back, all right.
* SuperSentaiStance: Fond of these.

Wife and (sorta) sidekick to Super Arrow, Mrs. Arrow shares her husband's sense of justice and strives to protect him in and out of home. Once a circuit model with some racing experience, Mrs. Arrow signed up for the F-Zero Grand Prix primarily to help her husband win instead of herself despite being the better pilot of the two.

Her machine is the '''Queen Meteor''', ranked E-B-B, weighing 1140kgs, featuring two [=HW=]305-U2 engines, and created by Professor Hollow as well. It's nearly identical to the King Meteor above, but heavier, which means slightly more stability. It has solid boost and grip, but weak armor. The extra weight actually allows it to perform better than the King Meteor in terms of top speed.
----
* ActionMom: She's shown to have an infant child in Captain Falcon's Master Class video from ''GX'', meaning she's liable to become this in a few years' time.
* [[ActionGirlfriend Action Wife]]: Is HappilyMarried to Super Arrow, and is a superhero in her own right.
* AllAmazonsWantHercules: [[PlayingWithATrope Played with]] extensively. Was she attracted to his strength? [[AmazonChaser Was he attracted to hers?]] [[TakeAThirdOption Both?]] [[HiddenDepths Something else entirely?]]
* AmazonianBeauty: Ms. Arrow is super athletic and even takes bodybuilding as a hobby, which has given her a massively muscular, and beautiful body.
* BattleCouple: Given her comments, it can be inferred that she doesn't just aid Super Arrow on the track, but with his superheroics (despite having no inherent superpowers of her own) as well! BadassNormal, anyone?
* BeautyBrainsAndBrawn: When grouped with the other two ladies who made their debut in ''X'', Mrs. Arrow defaults to the Brawn to Kate's Beauty and Jody's Brains, though there's enough overlap to argue that Jody and Mrs. Arrow could be switched around.
* ContraltoOfStrength: Possibly fitting in with certain stereotypes and conceptions about [[UsefulNotes/{{Bodybuilding}} female bodybuilders]], ''GX'' gives Mrs. Arrow an incredibly husky, even somewhat gruff voice (courtesy of one Creator/DonnaBurke), by far the deepest of the female racers--especially when compared to Princia's high-pitched lilt. Mrs. Arrow is one of the more seasoned competitors and can be quite brutal on the racetrack, though she's very friendly and personable otherwise.
* CoolShades: She possess a pair of {{purple|IsPowerful}} TriangleShades in ''X''. [[TheGlassesComeOff She loses them]] in her victory photo from ''X'' and in ''GX'' entirely (instead wearing another pair in her ''GX'' Pilot Video).
* CrimeFightingWithCash: Seeing as she's [[TheTeamBenefactor the primary source of Super Arrow's income]], yes.
* DistractedByTheSexy: In-universe, her [[https://youtu.be/TzZJBIhlB7k?si=LShxkGm5ZIY2Kl4M&t=715 Pilot Video]] in ''GX'', the [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin appropriately-titled]] "[[WalkingSwimsuitScene The]] [[BeautyContest Charm]] [[{{Fanservice}} of Mrs. Arrow]]."
* EveryoneLooksSexierIfFrench: Suggested by her first and maiden names, although there's no in-series confirmation that she's of French descent.
* {{Expy}}: Perhaps unintentional, but [[http://fzero.wikia.com/wiki/File:Mrsarrow.jpg her design]] shares a few traits with that of ComicBook/PowerGirl, such as [[http://blogs.lubbockonline.com/hero/2007/09/14/justice-is-blonde/ this depiction]] and as [[http://www.alexrossart.com/galleries/kingdom/full/kingdomcome_sketch11.jpg Power Woman]] in ''Comicbook/KingdomCome'' (both drawn by Alex Ross).
* FingerWag: Has a habit of giving these out during her F-Zero TV interviews with Mr. Zero, usually during her more impassioned responses and declarations, all the while still confidently flexing her biceps.
* GeniusBruiser: Factoring in all of the tropes regarding her appearance and smarts, she easily comes across as this. She may be an ardent bodybuilder from looks of things, but a DumbMuscle type she is ''not''.
* GlassCannon: The Queen Meteor is actually slightly faster than its King counterpart, but that's the only difference.
* HairColorDissonance: Some of her artwork from ''X'' depicts Mrs. Arrow as more of a strawberry blonde.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: There are times when she comes across as vain (such as calling herself "[[WorldsMostBeautifulWoman the most beautiful champion in F-Zero history]]") and overconfident ("Was such a {{foregone conclusion}} boring to watch?"), but her heart is always in the right place. For example, she averts being a RichBitch by offering up the prize money to charity.
** MoeCouplet: She and Super Arrow have the makings of one. It's not quite BelligerentSexualTension and ''far'' from TheMasochismTango (although Mrs. Arrow does have to dispel rumors about this in ''GX''), but they bring out the best qualities in each other and [[AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther they really do have a loving relationship]].
* HypercompetentSidekick: Focuses her talents and efforts on fully supporting her husband in spite of being his better.
* IconicItem: She's never seen without that [[GemEncrusted emerald/jade-encrusted]] necklace of hers, although the significance of it is unknown.
* ImpossibleHourglassFigure: Her superpower is apparently being able to have a six-pack with that hourglass body shape.
* JusticeWillPrevail: She's just as keen as her husband is on keeping the peace ([[BirdsOfAFeather maybe that's why they clicked?]]).
-->'''Mrs. Arrow:''' "[[ChronicHeroSyndrome The Arrows go wherever evil is.]]"\
\
'''Mrs. Arrow:''' (''on her future plans'') "[[HeroesGoneFishing I'd like to take a vacation]], but there is no rest for the defenders of justice."\
\
'''Mr. Zero:''' "I've heard the justice of Mrs. Arrow is known for its severity!"\
'''Mrs. Arrow:''' "Racers who break the rules will be severely punished!"
* LadyOfWar: Her official title in ''GX'' is "The Elegant Mrs. Superhero."
* NonIdleRich: She's a F-Zero racer, crimefighter, and implied {{housewife}}.
* {{Socialite}}: Has the air and presence of one despite the series barely focusing on the racers' personal lives. She even resembles a more muscular version of the page picture [[note]]a background extra in ''WesternAnimation/BatmanBeyond'' seen during the wedding in "Spellbound" who also appears again at least in "Out of the Past"[[/note]].
* TeamMom: Despite being a better racer than Super Arrow ''by light-years'', she wholly devotes her time and experience to ensuring his success. Her bio notes that she "strives to defend her husband, Super Arrow, in and out of the home," possibly insinuating that, on top of everything else listed here, Mrs. Arrow is glad to take up [[{{Housewife}} a more domestic role]] when not on the speedway.
* ThemeNaming: She pilots the Queen Meteor, while her hubby races in the King Meteor. Both machines are similar in appearance and sport a heart decal with Cupid's Arrow running through it, complete with the words "King & Queen" written on a banner underneath. [[ThePowerOfLove Awwww.]]
* {{Tsundere}}: Implied. She's a kindhearted woman, a loving and faithful wife, and a valuable friend to many. Yet, she's one of the more aggressive racers, and ''GX'' goes to great lengths to show that [[HenpeckedHusband she has Super Arrow]] ''[[HenpeckedHusband whipped]]''. Her default mood is unknown, but the hints we've been given point at Type B.
* UnderwearOfPower: Apparently, the combination of a matching bra (a bullet bra in her case for extra {{Fanservice}}), thong, and high-heeled boots worn over a [[FormFittingWardrobe skin-tight bodysuit]] is all the rage in the 26th century.
* UptownGirl: While not necessarily ''poor'', Super Arrow certainly was punching above his weight when he won over Mrs. Arrow.
* WillfullyWeak: As noted above, Mrs. Arrow spends her time defending her husband instead of actually trying to win the GP for herself. Though that doesn't stop her from finishing in the top six nine times out of ten.

A pair of aliens of the rarely-seen Furikake people, who hail from planet Huckmine. The Furikake follow an unique custom; after emerging from their seed pods, individuals find a partner whom they pair up with for the rest of their lives (or at least until they find mates to marry, which might happen soon). Gomar is the short, intelligent one while Shioh is the tall, dependent one. Gomar & Shioh always perform together as if they were one racer, although the ''F-Zero'' committee didn't allow this at first, changing their minds after a voting session.

Their machine is the '''Twin Noritta''', ranked E-A-C, weighing 780kgs, equipped with two KOM-E246 engines and created by Onigiri Drive Yard Co. Built with a special alloy found only on Huckmine, the Twin Noritta is the lightest ship of the series (this despite having two cockpits). It's not very fast or durable, but its acceleration and boosting are among the best.
----
* AmusingAlien: They're a funny duo.
* TheDividual: Such is the way their society operates. The duo are an example of the "Syndividual" type.
* FatAndSkinny: Gomar is short and broad while Shioh is tall and lanky.
* FragileSpeedster: The Twin Noritta is '''THE''' FragileSpeedster of the series. It has terrible shields, but has decent handling and great acceleration thanks to its lightweight chassis. Also, it has the single most powerful boost among all the ships, with the only other machine coming close being the Fat Shark.
* TheGamblingAddict: Gomar plans to gamble with the prize money, contrasting the more conservative Shioh.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: Everybody on their planet is paired like this. [[MistakenForGay It's commonly misconstrued as something else]], mainly because of their [[https://youtu.be/TzZJBIhlB7k?si=M3hPwaAZ6T85FGjW&t=750 Pilot Video]] in ''GX''.
* HumanoidAliens: They're fairly humanoid.
* NumerologicalMotif: They're racer(s) number #22, ride the ''Twin'' Noritta and always operate as a pair.
* ShorterMeansSmarter: Shioh depends on Gomar to make the decisions.
* SingleMindedTwins: Subverted a few times. While they're usually on the same page, the duo is shown to have conflicting ideas on a few topics.
-->'''Mr. Zero:''' "How will you use the one billion space credits in prize money?"
-->'''Shioh:''' "Save it."
-->'''Gomar:''' "Gamble with it." \
\
'''Mr. Zero:''' "What do you treasure most in life?"
-->'''Gomar:''' "My partner."
-->'''Shioh:''' "Money!"

A 98-year old ''F-Zero'' veteran, Silver Neelsen has been racing for decades, never missing a single race in his entire career (although he has never won the ''Grand Prix'' either). Despite being a fan favorite, the other pilots tend to look down on Silver due to his advanced age, expecting him to retire at any moment. Silver is not planning to do that just yet though, claiming that he will keep on racing until past his 100's. He is also willing to share advice with his rivals, assuming they buy him a few drinks before, and can be rather critical of modern ''F-Zero'' machines.

His machine is the '''Night Thunder''', ranked B-A-E, weighing 1530 and built with two [=NT4098=] engines. It was designed by Gold Hand, Silver's childhood friend. Gold may have passed away some time ago, but his consciousness was preserved in the Night Thunder's navigation system. The ship is meant to have strong power bursts and dashing abilities.
----
* AlwaysSecondBest: The personification of this trope. He's the current record holder for most Grand Prix appearances and has placed second more than anyone else, but has never really won first prize.
* AscendedExtra: He's one of the few racers to have a decent role in ''GX'''s story mode, even if his plot doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.
* BrainUploading: Not Neelsen, but Gold Hand, the guy who designed and built the ''Night Thunder''. Gold had his mind and emotions uploaded into the vehicle's navigation systems. This is likely a reason Neelsen refuses to change or alter his vehicle's systems.
* BreakOutTheMuseumPiece: His vehicle is considered an antique by modern standards, lacking many of the advanced secondary control systems common to more recently built racers.
* CelebrityResemblance: That you, legendary country singer Willie Nelson? The name is even similar.
* CoolOldGuy: He's the oldest among the (still living) human F-Zero pilots, at a whopping 98 years old, and still able to expertly pilot a F-Zero racer that is notoriously difficult to control. Due to his decades upon decades of lifetime experience, Silver is a veritable cornucopia of knowledge and is considered to be an excellent teacher. [[CantHoldHisLiquor Get a few drinks into him]], and you can receive an ''entire year''[='s=] worth of racing experience in the span of a single evening. Sounds like a pretty good deal.
* CrackOhMyBack: When starting a race in GX, playing as Silver, he will stumble and grab at his back in pain, before balancing himself and giving the thumbs up.
* DarkhorseVictory: Even more so than Jody. [[FanOfUnderdog He's a fan-favorite due to his status and the ultimate underdog]], and fans have begun to bet on him with the reasoning ([[InsaneTrollLogic via law of averages]]) that, eventually, ''he'll have to win''.
* {{Determinator}}: Has the longest streak of joining the races and never won a title, and yet ''still'' races for that one title of champion. Someone give this man a medal for enduring this long.
** His status as such has given him the InSeriesNickname of "Ironman Silver."
* DifficultButAwesome:
** As he distrusts the newer technology found in F-Zero machines, it takes a good deal of technical adeptness to properly drive the Night Thunder, a machine lacking many of the more advanced navigation and control systems standard in more modern designs. Silver has no qualms about this. The Night Thunder might have pathetic handling, but its powerful boost can make the difference.
** In ''X'', he's also a widely-picked character for setting world records thanks to exploiting various GoodBadBugs in the physics.
* DirtyOldMan: PlayedStraight. Just because he is getting close to 100 years old, doesn't mean he doesn't have time for ladies 1/4th of his age.
* FixingTheGame: During the story of ''GX'', he persuades Captain Falcon to hide his identity for a race (even though he still races in the Blue Falcon, so the other races will know it's him racing), so that the betting odds will be increased. When Falcon wins, Neelsen makes millions.
* GameplayAndStoryIntegration: The Night Thunder is tricky to handle and lacks many of the upgrades in newer ships. It makes sense that it's DifficultButAwesome and that only a pilot with as much experience as Neelsen can keep up with his younger rivals in it.
* GlassCannon:
** In ''GX'', the Night Thunder still possesses ridiculous boost and acceleration (offset by terrible top speed), but it's definitely not easy to control.
** Also in ''GX'', despite having a listed body rating of B, play testing shows that it actually has a body rating well in the E range. This greatly hurts its boost ability since boosting uses up the vehicle's health.
* GrumpyOldMan: He's become quite cranky in his old age. [[NostalgiaFilter With a love for more antique models]], [[TheyDontMakeThemLikeTheyUsedTo he often criticizes the newfanged machines the other pilots race in]]. As expected, they tend to keep their distance, believing that he's gone senile.
* HandicappedBadass: his back has long since given out, causing him to walk hunched over and shakily leaning on a cane when he is outside of the Night Thunder. But when racing he is anything but decrepit, as it requires extreme physical ability and reflexes to pilot the Night Thunder as expertly as he does.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: He and his childhood friend, Gold Hand. How much? Gold's [[BrainUploading mind and emotions were preserved in the cybernetic systems of the Night Thunder]]. [[ThePowerOfFriendship Truly a friendship that will last (more than) a lifetime.]]
* TheHyena: According to Silver, laughing is the secret behind his longevity.
* InItForLife: Since he'll be turning 100 in a matter of two years, Silver has [[ContemplateOurNavels considered calling it quits]], but knowing him, he'll still probably be competing long after he's a centenarian. And if his BadassBoast is to be believed, he will keep racing even beyond death.
--> '''Silver Neelsen''': ''We've got alot of mileage left in us yet.'' *referring to himself and the Night Thunder*
* ItsAllAboutMe: In ''GX'', Neelsen states that he got into F-Zero racing [[RuleOfCool because its cool]] and that he will use prize money from the Grandprix to open the "Silver Neelsen Museum".
* IWasQuiteALooker: He was very handsome in his younger years. Tho he doesn't seem to be too concerned about his age and no longer looking as good as he once did.
* MeaningfulName: "Silver" being that he has never won a Grand Prix, only coming second several times. [[AlwaysSecondBest A perpetual silver medalist]]. It's also likely a reference to his age, as "silver", as a color, is associated with those who have gracefully entered old age.
* NostalgiaFilter: Has one firmly built into him. He heavily distrusts newer technology and refuses to retrofit his Night Thunder with modern upgrades. Ironically, between his skill and experience, if he would upgrade his car with the newer control systems, he would be far more likely to win a Grandprix.
** Partially subverted. While he does genuinely prefer older designs of racers, the main reason he refuses to upgrade the Night Thunder is because that car was custom built for him by his best friend (before said friend died) and that friend uploaded an engram of his mind into the car, so upgrading even its secondary systems could permanently erase the last remnants of him.
* OldMaster: While he has never won a Grandprix, he still falls under this trope. He has more experience than anyone (except MAYBE The Skull, who is undead), and still competitively drives a vintage racer that would be beyond the skills of most of his younger peers.
* OlderIsBetter: Crosses over with DifficultButAwesome. It might be a beast to handle, but despite its age it still boasts one of the best acceleration and boost stats (to compensate for the very poor top speed and handling stats) among any of the vehicles.
* {{Rockabilly}}: His theme in the ''GX/AX'' games sounds straight out of a honkytonk junkbox.
* SarcasticConfession: His image quote above. It is beyond merely a BadassBoast. As shown with [[OurLichesAreDifferent The Skull]], it is VERY possible for him to be resurrected after dying to continue racing.
* ScatterbrainedSenior: He's '''98'''. He probably has Alzheimer's, even though it's PlayedForLaughs.
* SilverFox: Despite being in his late 90s, its not uncommon to see him surrounded by far younger female fans after a race.
* StrokeTheBeard: Silver's render in ''GX'' has him doing this, as seen above.
* ThemeNaming: He's Silver, his best friend was named Gold.
* TheyDontMakeThemLikeTheyUsedTo: Is very adamant on this, often deriding newer models of racers as inferior to older designs.
* WhenEldersAttack: In Goroh's Master Class video in ''GX''. When Goroh doesn't yield to Silver's right of way as a pedestrian, Silver chases after him and delivers some good ol' CaneFu to his head. His own Master Class video shows he keeps in shape by Shadow Boxing, though he ends up breaking his hand on Michael Chain's rock-hard abs.
* YourDaysAreNumbered: Realizing this, Silver lives each day as if it were his last and also passes this maxim onto his fans. His [[TheLastDance last hurrah]] is going to be both [[DyingMomentOfAwesome spectacular]] and [[TearJerker heartbreaking]].

Leader of the racing gang known as the Bloody Chain, racing is all Michael Chain has ever known. The Bloody Chain at one point boasted over 10,000 active members across the galaxy -- it was at this point that Michael joined the ''F-Zero'' to represent all he had worked for. However, a losing record has caused many of its members to lose heart, and membership has dropped considerably; in a few years, it might be dissolved completely unless Michael can turn his luck around.

His machine, the '''Wild Boar''', has an A-C-C rating, 2110 kgs, two [=AM9021-R=] engines and was created by Asteroid Motors. Its strong armor suits itself very well to Michael's full contact racing style, but it suffers in many other areas, not least of which being actual speed and acceleration. Additionally, it's the single loudest machine to ever compete; it's rumored that the airfoils along the ship's spine were added solely to increase its sound output.
----
* AmbitionIsEvil:
-->'''Michael Chain:''' "Fame! Money! Power! And the Grand Prix gave me them all!" (''{{evil laugh}}'')
-->'''Michael Chain:''' (''to his fellow Bloody Chain members'') "Stay with me and you'll get money and women beyond your wildest dreams!"
* AnimalMotifs: The boar. Rowdy and uncontrollable.
* AscendedExtra: One of the few pilots to have an entire mission dedicated to them in the ''GX'' story campaign.
* BadassArmFold: One of his actions at the Settings screen has him briefly doing this while chuckling to himself.
* BadassCrew: Subverted oh so hard. You'd think that a group of ugly, muscular thugs would be imposing, right? '''WRONG!''' They're nothing more than a flock of {{Mooks}}, Chain himself being possibly eligible for EliteMook status. In fact, Chain's once-massive band is quickly dwindling in number due to his incompetence as a racer; it's theorized that the Bloody Chain will fully dissolve in the span of a few years. (However, at the height of their power, the Bloody Chain ''did'' have 10,000 members and control over three planets...)
* BaldOfEvil: While not a straight up villain, he's still a troublesome ruffian. Interestingly, the members of his gang all seem to share this characteristic, as they're mostly {{Palette Swap}}s of him.
* BlingBlingBang: If he wins, he plans to plate the Wild Boar in gold, turning it into the Golden Boar. The practicality of such an action is debatable.
* CelebrityResemblance: Tell me he doesn't remind you of Laurence Fishburne.
* ChestInsignia: Depending on his costume, either a dragon or a {{unicorn}} emblem.
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: His [[https://youtu.be/TzZJBIhlB7k?si=rA_vJ12HxZO7iJCE&t=822 Pilot Video]] in ''GX''. What's the first thing that comes to your mind when the muscle meter breaks out?
* GangBangers: The look and ''modus operandi'' followed by Michael and his subordinates.
* GenreMashup: Implied by his preferred choice of music (heavy metal + opera).
* GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere: His role in ''F-Zero GX's'' Story Mode is to just provide an obstacle for Falcon as he heads towards Lightning to stop Black Shadow. As far as anyone knows, Michael has no involvement whatsoever in Black Shadow's plot.
* {{Gonk}}: He and every single other Bloody Chain member (which is unsurprising since they're {{Palette Swap}}s of their boss).
* IKnowKarate: Takes up {{boxing|Battler}} in his spare time.
* MightMakesRight: "I make all the rules! I do as I want!"
* MightyGlacier: In ''GX'', the Wild Boar is tougher and heavier than most machines (plus, it has decent boost and grip), but it doesn't accelerate well.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: You do not mess with Michael '''Chain''', let alone his gang, the '''Bloody Chain'''.
* NoFlowInCGI: He wears chains around his neck in his ''X'' artwork and in ''GX'''s prerendered cutscenes, but it's not present on his ingame model, likely because of this trope.
* ScaryBlackMan: Subverted. Despite being the leader of a gang, he's only a nuisance at best and a musclebound poser at worst.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: In ''GX''[='s=] Story Mode, after Falcon lays down some vehicular beatdown, all of Chain's lackeys pull this on the big guy himself when he orders them to stay on Falcon's trail. With his crew having abandoned him, Chain has no choice but to retreat as well.
* TopHeavyGuy: Veers dangerously close to this.
* WakeUpCallBoss: If Samurai Goroh was a test of your driving skills, Michael Chain is a test of your ability to break your opponents' vehicles. The only way you can reach him is by breaking ''every single car'' before him and ensuring you have enough energy once you reach him to break his car before the end of the race.

A clone of Captain Falcon created while Falcon was in the hospital from the Great Accident. Being technically only four years old, he follows only Black Shadow's command and vows to destroy Captain Falcon. However, as of late he's been pondering whether he's actually human or elsewise.

His machine is the '''Blood Hawk''' (Originally '''Hell Hawk'''), has a B-A-E rating, weighs 1170kgs, has two [=DS=]019G & two [=BF=]2001 engines, and was created by the BS Group. It was supposed to be like the Blue Falcon, but BS Group gave it much more speed in order to compete against it. However, they had to sacrifice grip, so while it is fast, it's hard to control.
----
* AnimalMotifs: A hawk. It's similar to a falcon, but not the same thing.
* AnimalThemedSuperbeing: Like Captain Falcon, but DarkerAndEdgier.
* BloodKnight: If you see this guy on the track, [[VideoGame/StarFox64 use the boost to get through]]! You won't regret it.
* {{Bowdlerise}}: Hell Hawk was changed to "Blood Hawk" in America.
** The latest Japanese games eventually started calling his racer Blood Hawk as well.
* BringIt: One of his poses has him signal to the player in this fashion.
* ClonesArePeopleToo: Something that seems to be on his mind, although so far it only seems to go as far as introspection.
* CombatPragmatist: "[[BadassCreed The heart of a devil! Doing whatever it takes to win!]]"
* CoolHelmet: Comes with being a Falcon clone, naturally. The big difference is the skull emblem, rather than Captain Falcon's... well, falcon emblem.
* DifficultButAwesome: In ''X'', various GoodBadBugs with the physics (which are very difficult to master) make him one of the top choices for setting world records.
* DivergentCharacterEvolution: {{Lampshade|Hanging}}d when the scientists working on the Blood Hawk realize that Blood won't be able to defeat Falcon if their vehicles are identical.
* TheDragon: To Black Shadow.
* EvilGloating: Drops this mocking line to Captain Falcon in Chapter 6 of the ''GX'' Story Mode right before Black Shadow sends Falcon off to his impending doom.
-->'''Blood Falcon:''' "You [Captain Falcon] and Blue Falcon can die together!" (''{{evil laugh}}'')
* EvilKnockoff: Obviously, he's the ShadowArchetype to Captain Falcon meant to portray a "WhatIf" scenario: an evil Falcon completely subservient to Black Shadow.
* GlassCannon: In ''X'', the Blood Hawk has incredible boosts when focusing on acceleration, and its low grip is good for making large drifts. However, this technique is extremely consuming and lets the vehicle exposed to collisions.
* GoofyPrintUnderwear: His Pilot movie in "GX" shows that he wears pink boxers with teddy bears on them.
* InformedAbility: In ''F-Zero X'', he was considered to have ''the'' best machine (due to the physics engine and all), [[{{Nerf}} but the new engine in]] ''[[{{Nerf}} GX]]'' [[{{Nerf}} ran the Blood Hawk into the ground hard]], to the point of being considered the 2nd worst machine in the game and nowhere near the Blue Falcon that it's supposedly superior to.
* JackOfAllStats: In ''GX'', the Blood Hawk boosts and accelerates well. The only bad thing is the top speed, strangely enough for a clone of Captain Falcon.
* MeaningfulName: Blood Falcon was made from Captain Falcon's blood... and [[BloodKnight he's out for it]].
* PsychopathicManchild: He's a four-year-old child in the body of an evil clone of Captain Falcon. This was to be expected.
* RedOniBlueOni: The Red to both Captain Falcon and Black Shadow's Blue.
* ResistanceIsFutile: Says this '''word-for-word''' as his televised message to Falcon. After making a [[IllKillYou death threat]].
* ScarfOfAsskicking: Unlike Falcon, his scarf hangs out.
* SlasherSmile: One of the big differences between him and Captain Falcon is [[https://mutecity.org/w/images/d/dd/XEnding-BloodFalcon.png his toothy grin]].
* SpikesOfVillainy: On his shoulder pads.
* ThereCanOnlyBeOne: Clearly, he's [[InferioritySuperiorityComplex suffering from a massive inferiority complex]]. Blood is constantly trying to prove that he's the "real" Falcon and "a hero."
* VillainsOutShopping: His ''GX'' [[https://youtu.be/TzZJBIhlB7k?si=yOINkBbttv_yeiAr&t=858 Pilot Video]] is one of the [[RunningGag laundromat videos]].
* YoungerThanTheyLook: He's only 4! Well, he's a clone of Captain Falcon, but still...

A mechanic of the Galactic Federation working in the same unit as Jody Summer. John Tanaka harbors deep feelings for Jody, and has vowed to always protect Jody from danger, even if she rejects his help (which happens all the time during races). If John manages to win a ''F-Zero Grand Prix'', he's considering proposing to her.

His machine is the '''Wonder Wasp''', rated D-A-D, weighing 900kgs and featuring two [=FGS-EO49M=] engines. John actually created this machine himself (being a mechanic and all), remodelling it from a recreational vehicle. It's very lightweight, having a powerful boost.
----
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: He is Jody's HopelessSuitor, while she considers him "a vital member of the team", [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w433mxyEAYs she seems to favor Falcon.]] Poor guy, [[SomethingAboutARose a rose and everything...
* AmazonChaser: John admires Jody for being a [[SelfMadeMan self-made woman]] and a highly-capable combat-machine pilot.
* CannotSpitItOut: He won't propose to Jody until he wins the Grand Prix, an event where his chances are highly slim.
* TheChampion: He tries to be one for Jody. Yeah... A guy can dream, right?
* DoggedNiceGuy: To Jody.
* EyesAlwaysShut: Although it could be that his eyes are just slitted, as hinted by his Japanese surname.
* GadgeteerGenius: Well, he wouldn't be the Galactic Space Federation's ''mechanic'' if he was incompetent. Also, it should be said that his Wonder Wasp was originally a pet project heavily modified for the races.
* TheGenericGuy: John is pretty much the most normal F-Zero racer, being just a military mechanic with no special background whatsoever.
* GenericName: A combination of a very common Western first name name (John) and a very common Japanese last name (Tanaka).
* GentlemanAndAScholar: Thanks to the principles he learned from martial arts.
* HermitGuru: According to ''GX''.
-->'''Mr. Zero:''' "Your years as a hermit have paid off?"
-->'''John Tanaka:''' "[[NoodleIncident Yes, I only came down off that mountain one time.]]"
* IKnowKarate: Alluded to, when John mentions "sports and martial arts" (the latter of which IS a sport) as a response to how he attained a healthy physique. Subverted later on, as he states he didn't pick up the skills to adequately defend himself. (Sorry, fans, he's not a BadassBookworm.)
* JackOfAllStats: In ''GX'', the Wonder Wasp does good enough at everything. Only issue is that it's weak.
* NonActionGuy: [[LoverNotAFighter He's a mechanic, not a fighter.]]
* PublicServiceAnnouncement: His lone driving tip. "Always remember to fasten your seatbelt."
* RobotBuddy: The drone always seen flying around him.
* ShoutOut: Listen to his [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26yfTNg6YjA theme]] in ''GX''. You are now playing ''VideoGame/SpaceInvaders''.

A '''''massive''''' ''F-Zero'' fanboy, Draq, along with his best buddy Roger Buster, works in the transportation business. One day, Draq received an interesting order for delivering: two brand new ''F-Zero'' machines with no known recipient or return address. Draq saw this as a golden opportunity to enter the ''F-Zero'' races he adored so much, convincing Roger, a more casual fan, to tag along by suggesting that the ''F-Zero'' broadcasting could allow the rightful owners to easily find the vehicles on TV. Now Draq plans to win the ''Grand Prix'' so that he can use the prize money to afford a machine of his own (and maybe get some autographs from his idols while at it).

His machine is the '''Mighty Typhoon''', rated C-A-D, weighing just 950kgs and built with two [=SS-C504=] engines. It was created by Team Shooting Star, a ''F-Zero'' team whose members have mysteriously vanished ever since the Great Accident happened. The machine boosts really well and is actually quite lightweight, unlike Draq.
----
* AmusingAlien: A big, purple gremlin-like man who enjoys video games and ''F-Zero''.
* AscendedFanboy: He is ''cocoa-crazy'' about the sport, and probably had a {{nerdgasm}} when he discovered that he would be able to race alongside and against some of his heroes. He's also '''the''' AudienceSurrogate; come on, you ''know'' that you'd love to live in a [[TheFuture world]] [[WorldOfBadass like]] [[WorldOfHam this]].
-->'''Draq:''' "Is there anyone who ''doesn't'' want to become an F-Zero racer?"
* BigEater: Hinted at; one of his actions involves Draq rubbing his stomach as if he's hungry.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Roger.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: Roger is 41. Draq is ''137''. Though while he may be older in age, he's certainly behind in [[ManChild maturity]]. It's implied that his species has a much longer lifespan than the humans of Earth and Draq is simply young by their standards.
* IDontKnowMortalKombat: His [[https://youtu.be/TzZJBIhlB7k?si=n9MEfYVmCp9wiekw&t=924 Pilot Video]] in ''GX'', where a cheap, humiliating defeat at the hands of the CPU angers Draq to the point that [[PaintingTheMedium he punches the screen]]. [[TheComputerIsACheatingBastard We feel your pain, buddy.]]
* IKnowMortalKombat: His training for the races? Playing the computer game.
* JackOfAllStats: In ''GX'', the Mighty Typhoon has smooth controlling, and, weak body aside, doesn't have significant drawbacks.
* OddFriendship: It's mind-boggling to fathom how [[RedOniBlueOni one as zealous as Draq could befriend one as serious as Roger]].
* WeAreAsMayflies: He's 137 years old, but you wouldn't know that from his almost child-like demeanor. His age is somewhat referenced by his idolization of Silver Neelsen and the Skull. That said, his species may simply have a longer lifespan than humans and he's young by their standards.
* WeightWoe: Downplayed. He's recently started dieting, due to having trouble getting in and out of his machine.

A deliveryman who takes his job seriously, Roger Buster, along with his best buddy Draq, works in the transportation business. One day, Roger received an interesting order for delivering: two brand new ''F-Zero'' machines with no known recipient or return address. Draq saw this as a golden opportunity to enter the ''F-Zero'' races he adored so much, convincing Roger, a more casual fan, to tag along by suggesting that the ''F-Zero'' broadcasting could allow the rightful owners to easily find the vehicles on TV. Now Roger's biggest priority is to finish the delivery, so he patiently waits for someone to come and claim the machines.

His machine is the '''Mighty Hurricane''', rated E-B-B, weighing 1780kgs and and built with one [=SS-D701=] engine. It was created by Team Shooting Star, a ''F-Zero'' team whose members have mysteriously vanished ever since the Great Accident happened. The machine boosts well and is fine to handle, but Roger has to be careful about its fragility.
----
* TheAlcoholic: When Mr. Zero asks how he enjoys his life off of the job, Roger replies, "A drink after work?"
* AscendedFanboy: He's a more casual fan of F-Zero in contrast to superfan Draq.
* BadassCreed: "No consignment is too dangerous!"
* BadassNormal: Roger is just a delivery man, yet naturally competes with people with far more strength, training and wealth than he does.
* BigBadassRig: Drives one of those during work. You can see it in his GX [[https://youtu.be/TzZJBIhlB7k?si=1s0DKu3aJW6qphw8&t=960 Pilot Video]].
* CelebrityResemblance: He's modeled after action-movie star Creator/BruceWillis.
* ConsummateProfessional: Roger prioritizes his delivery job above all else. The entire point of his entry in F-Zero is to publicize that he has someone else's racing machine and wants to see to it that they get it.
* {{Determinator}}: Roger claims that never giving up is his only good trait.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: With Draq (see above).
* JackOfAllStats: In ''GX'', the Mighty Hurricane is decently fast, accelerates well and controls nicely, but it has a weak body just like the Typhoon.

An engineer of ''F-Zero'' machines, Dr. Clash always aspired to become a racer himself, but couldn't because of his lack of athletic capabilities. After years of research, he was finally able to build his own perfect racing machine. He also created a special gadget to compensate for his unfitness at piloting, allowing him to live his dream.

His machine is the '''Crazy Bear''', which has a A-B-E rating, 2220kgs and three [=CL05=]-[=S16x=] engines. Due to his own horrible experience during the Great Accident, Dr. Clash made sure that his ship would have the latest in terms of safety technology and equipment. This, however, makes the machine not the best at cornering and handling. The engines make up for that, though.
----
* TheBartender: Works as one during Story Mode in ''GX''.
* BearsAreBadNews: His machine, the Crazy Bear. In ''GX'', he reveals his latest creation: the [[HumongousMecha Big Bear]].
* CelebrityResemblance: He's like an obese Elton John.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: In ''X'', he's shown to have [[EinsteinHair unruly, unkempt hair]] that fell down slightly below his neck. One year later, he's starting to bald, showing a receeding hairline and [[ForeheadOfDoom a prominent forehead]].
* FatSlob: With unkempt hair and wearing a bodysuit that leaves his belly out for everyone to see, he certainly fits the part.
* GadgeteerGenius: He converted an old F-1 fighter jet into Beastman's Hyper Speeder. More generally, Dr. Clash played a major role in developing F-Zero technology and holds numerous patents.
* GeekPhysiques: Fits the bill of a tubby nerd. To the point that he had to invent gadgets to assist him with driving due to not being physically fit enough to do so on his own. He does still seem to be getting some exercise in judging by his muscular arms.
* GeniusCripple: Vaguely. As his physical condition is quite poor, he invented [[AwesomeBackpack a backpack-esque gadget]] to level the playing field.
* GentlemanAndAScholar: Largely subverted, as he tends to veer into the land of {{Insufferable Genius}}es.
* MightyGlacier: In ''GX'', Crazy Bear is definitely tough. Just don't expect to go very fast consistently, even if it has great boost and acceleration.
* StoutStrength: In spite of the above, he has clearly defined biceps.

The leader of an evil intergalactic organization, Black Shadow is feared by all in and outside of the tracks. Despite being wanted by the Galactic Federation, Black Shadow is somehow allowed to take part in ''F-Zero'' competitions, and it's known that races where he is present are inevitably going to result in huge accidents and disasters. His main objective is to destroy Captain Falcon (who has been successful in capturing Black Shadow's forces) in front of millions of viewers.

His machine is the '''Black Bull''', rated A-E-A, weighing an impressive 2340kgs, equipped with four [=DS020H=] engines and created by the research team of Black Shadow's very own organization. It's an extremely fast and sturdy ship, designed primarily to knock out anyone who gets in Black Shadow's way at the racetrack.
----
* AffablyEvil: He's as civil as can be. The below line is spoken in ''the most'' polite tone conceivable.
-->'''Black Shadow:''' Falcon, you've come to die? I needn't have wasted time looking for you then.
* AnimalMotifs: Very much the bull, given his vehicle's name and the horns on both his costume and F-Zero machine, as well as his vicious nature. Coincidentally, this also ties into the Devil-like imagery Black Shadow gives off, as Christian demonology popularized the idea of demons being depicted with horns and bull-like features.
* ArtificialBrilliance: He's often the most competent racer when used by the CPU in ''F-Zero GX'', frequently finishing in the Top 3.
* ArchEnemy: To Captain Falcon. It's a mutual feeling.
* BadassCreed: "Domination or death!" Yes, even evil has its own dogma.
* BigBad: For the series as a whole, even if ''GX'' turns him into Deathborn's crony.
* BloodKnight: It's hinted that he loves to destroy the other racers on a whim.
* {{Bowdlerise}}: The below exchange was cut from the U.S. version of ''GX''. While the game frequently averts NeverSayDie, it seems specifying what afterlife they'll be going to was a step too far.
--> '''Mr. Zero:''' "Your rivals are howling for revenge!"
--> '''Black Shadow:''' "[[SeeYouInHell I will send you straight to hell!]] It will be painless, I promise you."
* CardCarryingVillain: Proudly declares his championship in the F-Zero Grand Prix as a victory for evil in his ''GX'' interviews.
* TheComputerIsACheatingBastard: Chapter 7 of Story Mode in ''GX'' is so notorious for breaking the rules (i.e. Black Shadow ''staying in 1st place'' '''''without using his boost''''').
* CorruptedCharacterCopy: The same way Captain Falcon looks like a nice version of Judge Dredd, Black Shadow looks like an evil version of Franchise/{{Batman}}, and his Black Bull looks like a rogue version of the Batmobile.
* DarkIsEvil: And just to drive the point home, [[ColourCodedForYourConvenience he's wearing]] [[EvilWearsBlack all black]].
* DifficultButAwesome: Similar to Mr. EAD's Great Star above, the Black Bull in ''GX'' is one of the best machines for pulling off various advanced racing techniques and getting monstrous levels of speed....''IF'' you know how to use it effectively.
* EvilIsBigger: Unquestionably one of the largest, most imposing characters in the series.
* EvilWearsBlack: In case you couldn't tell from the image above. His outfit might look like purple at first glance, but it's supposed to be black.
* FictionFiveHundred: He considers the prize of [[GlobalCurrency one billion space credits]] ''a paltry sum''. All of that OffscreenVillainDarkMatter seems to imply that Black Shadow has some pretty good resources at his disposal.
* InTheirOwnImage: Wants to destroy the current world and remake it in his own image.
* KneelBeforeZod: "Bow down before my power, Falcon!"
* LargeAndInCharge: He leads a criminal organization, and is the tallest and bulkiest character introduced in ''X''.
* LightningBruiser: In ''GX'', the Black Bull has fearsome speed (that takes a while to reach) and can demolish most things in its way. Also, despite what the game tells you, its boost is pretty good.
* MagicIsEvil: He displays a few unexplained powers (such as trapping Falcon with a bolt of blue energy and summoning Blood Falcon [[{{Hammerspace}} out of nowhere]]). Definitely evil.
* MightyGlacier: While certainly not the best machine for setting records in ''F-Zero X'', his Black Bull is definitely one of the best for ramming opponents into oblivion.
* NebulousEvilOrganisation: The eponymous Black Shadow Group.
* ObviouslyEvil: A big guy all dressed in black whose car looks like a war machine and who pronounces a threat in every sentence, even when complimenting someone? [[BlatantLies Clearly a nice guy.]]
* PetTheDog: He's [[AffablyEvil fairly polite]] (albeit no less threatening) to Mr. Zero during their interviews, even offering him a job after [[VillainRespect being impressed]] by his bravery.
--> '''Black Shadow:''' Aheheheh… you've got courage. [[EqualOpportunityEvil You want to come work for me?]]
* PhysicalGod: It is rumored that Black Shadow was bestowed with {{immortality}} and the ability to [[{{Reincarnation}} reincarnate]].
* PsychoticSmirk: The moment you see this, {{your days are numbered}}.
* RedBaron: The King of Evil.
* {{Satan}}: Although that "[[SarcasmMode honor]]" really goes to Deathborn, with the horns and the black clothing, he definitely gives off these vibes.
* VillainDecay: Black Shadow is way less imposing in ''GX'', being more or less just a sniveling minion of Deathborn.
* VocalDissonance: Despite his huge and imposing figure, ''GX'' gives him a relatively soft voice.
* YouHaveFailedMe: In the prologue to ''GX''[='s=] Story Mode, Deathborn tells him he's got one more chance to win before he receives the final punishment.
