Context Characters / DungeonOfTheEndless

Go To

Besides character roles, characters in the game are also divided into "factions", i.e their role in the storyline. The "Crew" faction comprises of prison guards, crew members, etc on the prison ship. "Prisoners" faction comprises of, well, prisoners. Characters of the "Native" faction are explorers, treasure hunters, etc that are stuck in the dungeon before the events of the game. Characters of different factions have different recruiting and leveling cost, gain stats differently. Prisoners and Crewmembers gain a small bonuses when fighting with characters from the same faction.

[[folder:Crew]]
!!Nurse Deena Ratchet
->''Disciplinarian''
Ratchet is unable to do anything without screaming orders before, during, and after. An overbearing and annoying martinet, she does not consider a job well done until the entire galaxy has heard about it. Unafraid to yell when silence will do, her voice has been classed as a lethal weapon.
-->'''Deena:''' ''HI! WE SHOULD BE QUIET! THERE ARE LOTS OF MONSTERS HERE!''
----
* ControlFreak: Although she denies it.
* FieryRedhead: She's certainly... passionate.
* TheMedic: And a noisy one, at that.
* NoIndoorVoice: It's right there in her description.
-->'''Deena:''' (Upon opening a door) ''EVERYBODY QUIET! I'M OPENING THIS DOOR!!!''
** It gets better:
--->'''Deena:''' ''I GOT THE CRYSTAL! [[WithCatlikeTread LET'S SNEAK IT OUT!]]''
* NurseWithGoodIntentions: Her heart's in the right place, but her bedside manner has patients scrambling for the earplugs.
* PunnyName: Ratchet sounds quite similar to ''racket'', as in a loud noise.
* ShoutOut: To [[Film/OneFlewOverTheCuckoosNest Nurse Ratched]].

!!Elise Ness
->''Freelance Demolitionist''
Elise "Boom-Boom" Ness is a lawperson who walks the ragged edge between justice and vigilantism. Reasoning that the crime of "Breaking and Entering" should be a two-way street, she earned her nickname due to her fondness for storming criminal hideouts with heavy duty weaponry.
-->'''Elise:''' ''Hey, if the bad guys can break and enter, why can't the good guys?''
----
* {{BFG}}: Her weapon of choice.
* BloodKnight: Definitely in it for the thrills.
* DestructiveSavior: Ties in with her ability Shrapnellizer, which deals heavy damage to all enemies in the room, but also hits all allies as well as Modules inside. [[spoiler:Revealed to be the reason that she's in prison. Her boss is too tired of dealing with her collateral damage while on the job.]]
* FaceHeelTurn: When Rakya tells her the details behind her reassignment, she's consumed by vengeance. [[BloodKnight Not that she was squeaky-clean to begin with.]]
* MightyGlacier: Elise boasts respectable defense, health and damage, but is one of the slowest characters in the game. Also, the skill Engage Turtle Mode (reduces speed, vastly improves defense) firmly puts her into this trope.
* PoweredArmor: She ''starts'' with a hulking red powersuit. Whilst this is the source of her massive base defense and high natural health, it also means she can't use any armor items found throughout the Dungeon like most of the other heroes. She gets a second accessory slot instead.
* ReassignedToAntarctica: By a higher-up who was tired of paying for the damage she inflicted.
* {{There was a Door}}knob: She ''uses'' doors, but she loves kicking them down.
* ShoutOut: A {{Gender Flip}}ped version of [[Series/TheUntouchables El]][[Film/TheUntouchables1987 iot]] [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eliot_Ness Ness]]

!!Ken Massoqui
->''Sado-Maso Militarist''
An ex-member of the Special Forces, Ken's biggest problem was the fact that he enjoys self-inflicted pain. Always willing to join a knife fight armed with a tennis ball, Ken was the first volunteer for any mission that was hazardous and brutal.
-->'''Ken:''' ''That monster just hurt me! It was... nice. Where'd it go? Come back!''
----
* CastFromHitPoints: Has the Sacrifice skill, which ''greatly'' increases his attack but drains his health when active. Quite fitting for a CombatSadomasochist.
* CombatSadomasochist: He loves getting hurt in battle.
* LightningBruiser: Has high speed and attack, as well as above-average health.
* MeaningfulName: Massoqui -> Masochist
* TooKinkyToTorture: His idea of a tasty meal is that it has to ''hurt him''.

!!Warden Mormish
->''Profit Seeker''
Mormish was a reclusive and largely invisible personage before the crash, but now seems to have come out of his shell. Instead of hiding and giving orders through others, he is loud, present, and pushy; people get the feeling that he is trying to sell them something.
-->'''Mormish:''' ''Careful, I'm the Warden! The big boss. Numero uno, pal.''
----
* CoolChair: Sits on a hoverchair.
* [[spoiler:DeadPersonImpersonation: The character's true identity is a criminal nick-named Funny Face, specialized in impersonating people. He ratted out his gang for a reduced sentence, but ended up on the same ship as them. After the ship crashed, he impersonated the dead warden to escape retribution.]]
* [[spoiler:EvilGenius: As part of his gang's FiveManBand. Until he betrayed them, anyway.]]
* HandicappedBadass: He's a paraplegic in a hoverchair. [[spoiler:Except not really. The first hint that he isn't the real Warden Mormish is that he stands up on his chair whenever he's fighting monsters, something a paraplegic obviously would not be able to do.]]
* [[spoiler:MasterOfDisguise: His specialty as the criminal Funny Face.]]
* [[spoiler:RewardedAsATraitorDeserves: If he winds up accompanying the other members of his gang (Josh, Troe, and Max), they'll eventually uncover his true identity and kill him for turning them in.]]

!!Chef Nanor
->''Kitchen Chemist''
The youngest prodigy from a proud family of galactically famous chefs, Nanor ended up disgraced when he unwittingly purchased "black Andromedan truffles" that turned out to be pellets of Velan rabbit dung. Fighting to rebuild his reputation, he is a ruthless and uncompromising opponent who can turn anyone and anything into lunchmeat.
-->'''Nanor:''' ''Cooking is like love. It is a long, hot, sweaty effort that ends in bliss.''
----
* BladeEnthusiast: Proud of his prowess with knives and eager to use them in combat.
* TheButcher: His weapon of choice is a cleaver.
* ChefOfIron: Nanor's a MightyGlacier - slow, tough, and hard-hitting. Unlike most MightyGlacier types however, most of his skills are more support-focused rather than tanking/crowd control-focused, such as granting a damage bonus to friendlies (thanks to his delicious cooking) or causing damage over time to enemies (thanks to his... less delicious cooking).
* LethalChef: Quite literally. His second active skill (Cooking with Gas) ''causes damage over time to all enemies on the floor''.
* MetaPowerup: Not only does Cooking with Gas cause damage over time to all enemies, it also increases the chance that they will drop Dust too.
* SupremeChef: His first active skill (Last Supper) boosts the attacking power of all allies in the same room. He also unlocks the Extenders ability, which reduces the food costs of healing heroes.

!!Sara Numas
->''Bounty Hunter''
Famous across the galaxy as a bounty hunter, Sara was hired to escort a particularly troublesome prisoner to Auriga. The prisoner in question, an ex-leader of intergalactic pirates, disappeared when the ship went down. Sara remains tight-lipped about it, but is clearly focused on finding the escapee in question and ensuring that justice is served.
-->'''Sara:''' ''Did you see me? Don't worry. The bad guys won't.''
----
* DoomedByCanon: [[spoiler:Was strangled to death by Chimerae tentacles in ''Horatio - The Perfect Plan'' after being left to die by Gork, her hated enemy, and Horatio, who only went to Auriga to retrieve the cloning technology he used to build his empire.]]
* FragileSpeedster: She is the fastest hero, and can easily outrun most enemies, but has fairly low HP.
* HeroesPreferSwords: Her weapon of choice is the 'Ceremonial Sword' type.
* ShoutOut: Sara Numas is an anagram of Samus Aran.
* YouKilledMyFather: [[spoiler:Gork killed her family; she will confront him about this if they are partnered. If it goes on too long, they'll fight and one of them will kill the other.]]

!!Rosetta Q
->''By-the-book''
Like all Rosetta models, [=QV1819=] was designed to be the first point of contact with new species during planetary colonization, learning the culture and language of the indigenous people to avoid any potential conflict with the settlers. Acquiring more personality in her AI than other models, [=QV1819=] began referring to herself solely as Rosetta, and felt that her colonists were bringing 'enlightenment to the savages' -- whether the natives wanted them to or not. Fortunately, she seems to be the only one on board with this idea.
-->'''Rosetta:''' ''The value of diplomacy led by an artificial intelligence is complete objectivity. We always know who the vile, hateful scum really are.''
----
* ConservationOfNinjutsu: Her "Enlightenator" ability gives her an attack and defense buff that increases when there are more monsters in the room.
* LightningBruiser: The combination of her high speed and Enlightenator skill puts her firmly into this trope.
* MySkullRunnethOver: Her "Tower of Babble" ability causes monsters at <25% of their health to experience this, causing them to ''explode'' for SplashDamage to other monsters.
* TechnoBabble: One of her abilities is "Tower of Babble", which causes monsters with <25% of their health in the same room as her to explode. Presumably, due to MySkullRunnethOver.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Prisoners]]
!!Golgy Phurtiver
->''Bugeater''
A useful burglar and very light on her feet, Golgy's biggest problem is that she is convinced she is a spider. She tends to move sideways and skuttle next to walls, but as long as you don't mind having a partner who eats insects she's a fine addition to any criminal effort.
-->'''Golgy:''' ''I hunt like a spider, cause I have eight legs. But four are invisible.''
----
* BareFistedMonk: Doesn't use weapons, but has a second device slot.
* BigEater: Most of her lines involve wanting to eat, eating, or having eaten lots and lots of bugs. She doesn't even want to get paid, she just wants to eat bugs.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: A talented burglar who just happens to think she's a spider (her other four legs are invisible).
* InvisibleAnatomy: Her other four legs, or so she says.
* TheRival: She and Skroig (a Necrophage) become this if they're in the same squad, as they each want to eat the other. They agree to wait until they escape the dungeon to see who eats whom.

!!Gork "Butcher" Koroser
->''Thug''
An enormous, powerful man with a violent temper and an angry face, every sentient human that has ever met Gork has been terrified of him. When in a bad mood, he has been known to rip off the arms of animals, people, and construction equipment.
-->'''Gork:''' ''Ho! My name is Gork! You call me "Sir!" And give me food.''
----
* TheBigGuy: Complete with a preference for {{BFG}}s and BoisterousBruiser attitude.
* BoisterousBruiser: His lines paint him as ''enthusiastically'' brutal.
-->I am Gork! You are Gork's target practice!
* HulkSpeak
* MightyGlacier: He is ''the'' slowest character, but also among those with the best health, defense, and damage.
* UncertainDoom: [[spoiler:After Horatio leaves him to his fate, Gork's chances to survive the Chimerae are slim. The crystal's survival in ''Endless Legend'' implies he made it.]]
* TokenEvilTeammate: While quite a few heroes aren't the nicest of people, Gork is probably the most evil one. [[spoiler:He's the leader of a group of SpacePirates who massacred the people of Kaytuël, leaving only Sara alive]].

!!Max O'Kane
->''Opportunist''
"Max is eternally optimistic, mostly because he is too terrified of where he is to think about it seriously. He will always be looking to profit from a situation -- get extra loot, take one more object, spend less money etc. -- even if it puts him in a bad (risky) position or earns angry comments from his heroes."
-->'''Max:''' ''Hey, let's get rich! And, uh, not die.''
----
* BeardOfEvil: He ''is'' a criminal, albeit a petty one.
* DoomedByCanon: [[spoiler:Was KilledOffscreen by a horde of Chimerae in "Horatio - The Perfect Plan", due to Horatio disconnecting the crystal and allowing the beasts inside the ship.]]
* TheDragon: As part of his gang's FiveManBand. It's pretty clear most in the gang seem to trust him, yet he still defers to Josh.
* JackOfAllTrades: Max has above-average damage, health, and speed. He has the Operate skill, which benefits resource production but requires him to stay in one place, AND the Pilfer skill, which only works when he's the one to open doors. Max can fill a lot of roles.
** MasterOfNone: Later on, however, you may find yourself wanting more specialized characters.
* TalkingToThemself: Tends to do this in stressful situations.
-->(Upon taking the crystal) Max, why are you doing this? Maaaaax...

!!Opbot [=DV8=]
->''Overenthusiastic Surgeon''
A simple medical assistant, its occupation is currently listed as "Emergency Paramedic". No current information on its role before the crash is available, and it is unknown if [=DV8=] was a prisoner, guard, or crew. And everyone wonders where that nickname came from.
-->'''Opbot:''' ''I am called Opbot. You are an interesting morphological specimen.''
----
* AIIsACrapshoot: Both its description and skills imply it enjoys its job a little ''too'' much.
* ContinuityNod: Opbot is the narrator of the Vaulter faction's story mode in ''VideoGame/EndlessLegend'', and he also makes an appearance in ''VideoGame/EndlessSpace''. He also makes an appearance in ''VideoGame/EndlessSpace2'' with the Vaulters DLC, making him the only character to appear in every single Endless game.
* SupportPartyMember: Opbot's health, speed, and attack aren't much to write about, but it has very high wit and serves well as an operator.

!!Rakya Pulmoni
->''Smokestack''
Rakya was originally known as "Kneecapper" for her ability to bring a computer system to its knees. However, as cigarettes were illegal on the ship she ended up extending her meager supply by mixing in anything that burned. The result of six months smoking a mixture of tobacco, paper, rat droppings, and coffee grounds gave her a cough that sounds like the Devil calling your name.
-->'''Rakya:''' ''You got a smoke? Y'know - cigs, coffee grounds, cloth, dirt, whatever.''
----
* {{BFG}}: Her weapon of choice
* TheCracker: Her backstory. Also explains her ability to "Overclock" modules and improve their performance.
* IncurableCoughOfDeath: Played for laughs.
* KnowledgeBroker: And she uses it to her advantage by talking Elise into a FaceHeelTurn.
* MeaningfulName: Pulmoni is dative singular form for lung in Latin and plural form of lung in Romanian, and is almost certainly [[TheDiseaseThatShallNotBeNamed the type of disease]] Rakya has. [[DontExplainTheJoke Rack ya lungs]].
* MustHaveNicotine: And tries to stretch her few cigarettes by cutting her tobacco with decidedly unhygienic substances.
* SecondFaceSmoke: Whatever nastiness she's got brewing in her lungs could kill a lesser person. And ''does'', with her Health Warning skill.
* SmokingIsCool: She has an ability where she smokes, causing DamageOverTime to all enemies and allies in the room.
* VerbalTic: *Kaff kaff* Oh, *gack* *huuuckhh* y-*bluh-hurf* yeah...*hrk hrk guack!*
* WrenchWench: She starts with the Repair skill, and is unmatched when it comes to repairing and optimizing modules.

!!Josh N'tello
->''Know-It-All''
One of the few remaining humanoids in the galaxy to wear a tweed jacket and smoke a pipe, Josh is willing to give long (and generally inaccurate) explanations of any object, event, or person. Many suspect he was imprisoned for boring people to death.
-->'''Josh:''' ''Nice to meet you. Did you know the word "meet" is derived from hunters sharing "meat" during their expeditions?''
----
* BigBad: As part of his gang's FiveManBand. As far as the leader of a petty gang can be one, anyway.
* BookDumb: Somebody buy this guy a thesaurus, stat!
* TheBore: His description mentions that he often launches into long-winded and inaccurate explanations.
* CaptainErsatz: Of [[Series/DoctorWho The Doctor]].
* DelusionsOfEloquence: Tries to sound smarter by using big words... badly.
* FeigningIntelligence: Wears a tweed jacket and smokes a pipe in order to look smarter than he is. Many of his malaprops come from attempting to use big words and screwing them up.
* KnowNothingKnowItAll: Played with. His description mentions he's often wrong about the things he says, and he misuses words in practically every one of his overblown sentences... [[GameplayAndStorySegregation But in the game itself]], he has the highest Wit score, can overclock modules, and is one of two characters with the Armchair General ability. So he doesn't seem to be ''stupid'', per se.
* {{Malaproper}}: Most of his dialogue during the "Who Talked?" storyline contains lots of these.
* MeaningfulName: His name means "Josh the Unintelligent" in French.
* SupportPartyMember: His health, speed, and attack aren't much to write about, but he has ''the'' highest wit and serves well as an operator (especially in the back lines where he can make use of his Armchair General ability).
* StupidCrooks: The fact that Josh is the leader of their [[TheFamilyForTheWholeFamily criminal gang]] doesn't speak well of Max, Golgy, Troe, [[spoiler:or Funny Face]], an impression borne out by listening to any of their stories.
** Given what Wit does, and his skills, it can be surmised that he probably ''does'' have decent charisma, cleverness and leadership ability, but isn't remotely as smart as he thinks.

!!Troe Pekenyo
->''Kneebiter''
An unusually tiny humanoid, Troe's small stature went from a mere annoyance to a cause of insanity. Obsessed with his height, Troe enhanced his bones and muscles to the point where he could carry ridiculously large weapons - and he tends to use them on anyone that makes 'short' jokes.
-->'''Troe:''' ''Don't say anything funny about my height, or I'll headbutt your kneecaps.''
----
* BerserkButton: His height.
* {{BFS}}: His weapon of choice.
* TheBrute: As part of his gang's FiveManBand. Troe is also the most physically capable of his partners-in-crime, and the most willing to use violence.
* CompensatingForSomething: Though it's advisable that you don't mention it out loud when he's around.
* KneeCapping: One of his skills (Kneecapped) does this to enemies, slowing all enemies in the room as well as damaging them over time.
* MightyGlacier: Troe is slow, but pretty powerful and quite tough.
* TheNapoleon: If you hadn't guessed.
* PintsizedPowerhouse: The point behind all his enhancements.
* PunnyName[=/=]BilingualBonus: His first and last name resemble the words "trop" and "pequeño", respectively. Trop is French for "too" (as in 'too much') and pequeño is Spanish for "small". [[spoiler:[[DontExplainTheJoke He is Too Small.]]]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Natives]]
!!Hikensha
->''Honorable Experiment''
Hikensha knows little other than this lab where she grew up. Coming from an avian warrior race whose DNA was altered to maximize their value in arena battles, she imprinted psychologically on images and artifacts of her lost people. Those may only be loot to other adventurers; to Hikensha they are her birthright.
-->'''Hikensha:''' ''This place is not much, but it is mine. Be careful what you touch.''
----
* BirdPeople: She's a Hissho, a humanoid bird race from ''VideoGame/EndlessSpace''.
* BrutalHonesty: Is noted to be far too honest next to her picture in the album.
* CastFromHitPoints: Has the Sacrifice skill, which ''greatly'' increases her attack but drains her health when active.
* CodeOfHonour: Has a strong sense of Clan Honour.
* MeaningfulName: Hikensha is Japanese for "Test subject", which she is.
* OddFriendship: With Mizi, or rather, the demonic warrior Mizi carries around. Apparently Hikensha respects the warrior's claimed battle prowess.

!!Lady Joleri Tulak
->''Iron Maiden''
A rogue and adventurer. Joleri was generally found mounted and with a weapon in her hand. She has traveled far and wide on the continent, enriching herself by finding and selling Endless artifacts. However, she was trapped in the dungeon when running from beasts that ate her steed. Now all she can think of is getting back up to the light -- and avenging her lost companion.
-->'''Joleri:''' ''Come! Together we will slake our thirst for adventure... and Dust.''
----
* AnimatedArmor: She's a Broken Lord, essentially a soul inside a suit of armor that requires life energy and Dust to survive.
* ContinuityNod: One of the unlockable quest items from ''Videogame/EndlessLegend'' is a shield called Breakwall, said to have been used by a Lady Fidense Tulak. Perhaps Joleri is a relative?
* NecessaryDrawback: She has very good health and speed, as well as above average attack and wit (and an ability to boost attack further). However, her passive ability Dust Thirst reduces the dust dropped from enemies, which is a bad thing.
* VegetarianVampire: Her Energivore skill (+ Health generation when in a dark room with monster) seems to imply this.
-->An unusual diet. Do they sparkle in the sunlight?

!!Mizi Kurtiz
->''Dual Wielding''
While rumor says Mizi is possessed by a demon, the truth is different. In fact, the same physical space is occupied by different entities from two distinct planes of reality. As the planes move closer together or farther apart, one or the other personality becomes dominant. This has made it difficult for her to develop serious long-term relationships. On the plus side, the other entity is an ancient demonic war hero which has helped keep insults to a minimum.
-->'''Mizi:''' ''I'm Mizi, a mage and spellcaster. AND I WILL RUIN ALL THOSE WHO DEFY ME! ... No, ignore that. It's the other guy.''
----
* CleavageWindow: She has one on her clothes, like most Sisters of Mercy.
* {{Hellfire}}: Her second active skill is actually called this. It hurts all enemies and other allies in the same room as her.
* IWorkAlone: She has problems making relationships thanks to her demonic side. Her Bad Company passive ability drops her defence if she's in a room with others, and raises her attack if she is alone.
* NoIndoorVoice: Not her, but the demonic presence who shares her body.
* OddFriendship: The demonic presence has one with Hikensha, calling her worthy. Mizi herself just sort of tolerates the two of them.
* SplitPersonality: How the demonic presence manifests, although it can be seen floating above and around her a lot of the time, making this closer to a LiteralSplitPersonality.

!!Skroig
->''Mutant Musketeer''
A light, quick, and deadly forager, Skroig has a problem of which it is completely unaware: It should have been born a rakish nobleman in the era of the Musketeers. Unusually dapper and witty for an insectoid carrion eater, always well-dressed and with a delicate palate, Skroig's wit, sophistication, and elegant use of a blade are completely wasted on its peers.
-->'''Skroig:''' ''Friendly: Don't worry, your ugliness isn't visible in a poorly lit dungeon.''
----
* BigCreepyCrawlies: He's a Necrophage, an insectoid race.
* GlassCannon: He has high attack power and average health, but is unable to wear any armor, causing his defense to fall short.
* HatePlague: His Red Plume ability induces this in other monsters, causing all monsters in the room to attack each other when it's active.
* MySpeciesDothProtestTooMuch: He's a Necrophage, yet acts like a gentleman musketeer. Yes, he's the same species as the hostile bug-like creatures that consume everything in sight and attack you throughout the dungeon.
* TheRival: Develops a rivalry with Golgy, if the two are both in your party. They eventually resolve to see which one of them will eat the other once they've escaped the dungeon.
* SupremeChef: His first active skill (Last Supper) boosts the attacking power of all allies in the same room.

!!Kreyang
->''Lorekeeper''
Known as "Defender of the Archives", Kreyang kept this title even after an unfortunate event in a cryogenic chamber altered her cell structure. Now forbidden to touch her beloved archives for fear of damaging them, Kreyang is triply ferocious in defending Drakken history and lore.
-->'''Kreyang:''' ''Try to minimize your uneducated interference, offworlder.''
----
* AnIcePerson: Can summon a blizzard to slow down all enemies on the floor.
* JackOfAllTrades: Her versatile skillset lets her fill several different roles when needed.
* LizardFolk: She's a Drakken, a draconic race from ''Videogame/EndlessLegend''.
* ShoutOut: She has an ability called "[[Literature/ASongOfIceAndFire Winter Just Came]]".
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Secret Characters]]
!!Esseb Tarosh
->''Archivist''
Not monster, native, prisoner, or crew, this strange apparition seems to belong to the ruins in a way that nothing else does. Any understanding of its powers and its origin are less important, however, than the simple fact that it is intelligent, useful, and does not want to eat you.
-->'''Esseb:''' ''I see your team could use a guide - and perhaps a touch of wisdom...''
----
* {{BFS}}: Uses one in combat (though in a somewhat unconventional manner).
* MetaPowerup: His first ability Dust Drainer gives a 2x (3x if at second level) multiplier to the chance of an enemy dropping Dust.
* {{Precursors}}: He's a [[spoiler:Haunt, a Virtual Endless that survived Auriga's devastation during the Dust Wars but was severely maimed in the process]].
* SecretCharacter: To unlock him, you have to start a game during Amplitude's Endless Day Celebration (January 21-25) and pick him as one of your starting heroes.
* ShortRangeLongRangeWeapon: Inverted. Esseb uses a sword, but only performs long-ranged stabbing attacks (with range comparable to guns) with it.

!!Ayairi Whairydd
Born the seventh pup of a seventh pup of a seventh pup, yet unable to count higher than "1, 2, lots", Ayairi's glorious future was unlocked when prions from the labs of Auriga slightly altered her brain structure. Now by far the smartest being on Auriga, she hangs out with the dungeon's merchant, an ex-investment banker, discussing stochastic differential equations and the Black-Scholes model for option pricing.
----
* {{Hammerspace}}: She attacks and opens doors by pulling a hammer out of nowhere.
* HeroicDog: Despite being a puppy, she's still able to fight monsters, as well as learning a healing skill that gives health regeneration to all teammates.
* LethalJokeCharacter: She has ''zero'' defense and cannot equip any sort of item. However, she learns a new skill (or upgrades an old one) on ''every level up'', which makes her decent at support, and her attack also levels up very quickly and ends up becoming very high.
* PreciousPuppies: She's a really cute pug puppy.
* SecretCharacter: You can't unlock her at all. The only way to play with Ayairi is to pick the random character option at the start of a game and get lucky.
* SupportPartyMember: Mainly relegated to this thanks to her ease of getting killed.
* ShoutOut: Her backstory of being the "Born the seventh pup of a seventh pup of a seventh pup, yet unable to count higher than "1, 2, lots"" contains multiple ''Literature/{{Discworld}}'' references, namely to the novel ''Sourcery'' and the way Trolls count numbers on the Disc.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Australium Update (DLC)]]
!!The Entire Team
[[VideoGame/TeamFortress2 Taking a break after a particularly brutal gravel war,]] these four mercenaries are prospecting for the rare element Australium in the hopes of using their battle-honed skills to actually make some money. It is rumoured that there are extensive lodes of Australium across Auriga so they are exploring and tunneling, trying to find this precious resource.
----
* AdaptationNameChange: To various extents. In ''Team Fortress 2'' proper, the Pyro's name is unknown, the Medic's name is Ludwig and/or Humbolt, the Engineer's surname is Conagher, and the Heavy's surname is unknown.

!!Pat Bates (RED Pyro)
->''Pyro''
Nobody knows where this thing came from, what it thinks, or why it does what it does. Eager researchers who interview Bates tend to either quickly change their area of study -- or go mad themselves.
-->'''Pat:''' ''Hiiih hooo... hiii hooo... hiii hooo...''
----
* AmbiguousGender: Just like in their game of origin, Pyro's gender pronouns are deliberately left vague.
* AreaOfEffect: They're the ''only'' character in the game whose normal attack deals area of effect damage.
* DamageOverTime: Pat's attack sets groups of enemies on fire instead of dealing direct damage. One of their other skills capitalizes on this by temporarily blocking all forms of conventional damage in the room, making it so that damage over time is the ''only'' kind of damage that applies.
* GenderBlenderName: While their name is a reference to a male character (Patrick Bates), "Pat" could be short for Patrick or Patricia.
* ShoutOut[=/=]ShoutOutThemeNaming: While Pyro has no canonical name, this incarnation is named after Patrick Bateman, the main character of ''Literature/AmericanPsycho'', as well as their original voice actor Dennis Bateman.
* TheUnintelligible: Most of their lines are muffled gibberish.
* VaderBreath: The rest of their lines are heavy breathing.

!!Kaspar Herab (BLU Medic)
->''Medic''
Kaspar did, at some point, receive some form of medical training. The duration, sobriety, and quality of that training -- and whether or not it pertained to human beings -- is highly questionable. Herab's eagerness to demonstrate it, however, is not.
-->'''Kaspar:''' ''Medicine should be applied to a situation like a hammer is applied to an egg.''
----
* {{BFS}}: Uses his medical saw as a weapon, but it counts as a sword for the purposes of equippable items.
* ImmuneToBullets: As in his home game, his Übercharge ability renders nearby allies temporarily invincible.
* MadScientist / DeadlyDoctor: As in his game of origin.
* PsychoPsychologist: While the Medic in canon only deals with surgery, field medicine, lab experiments, and inventing, this incarnation has a skill called "Group Therapy", adding some mental health into the mix. It heals everyone within range, similar to his "Medicating Melody" taunt in canon. More importantly, Group Therapy allows "Pack of Dogs" and "Got Your Back" skill to be shared to all people in the same room
* TeamPet: His pet dove Archimedes comes along for the ride, in the form of an equippable pocket item.

!!Dell Bradford (BLU Engineer)
->''Engineer''
Dell is a misplaced transdimensional copy of a non-existent being from a pseudo-reality. Fortunately, he is also a skilled engineer with at least eleven hard science [=PhDs=] so minor questions concerning the nature of reality don't bother him much.
-->'''Dell:''' ''This place is in bad shape. Might even run out of wrenches.''
----
* GadgeteerGenius: As in his home game. In ''Dungeon of the Endless'', he's particularly skilled in module defense and repair.
* InterdimensionalTravelDevice: How he (and presumably the rest of the mercenaries) got from his own universe to this one.
* NonActionGuy: Just about the closest you can get in a game like ''Dungeon of the Endless''. His unique Gear Check skill means he (and everyone else in the room) focuses on repairing modules instead of fighting. This can be useful when using minor modules to deal with enemies like [[GoddamnBats Silic Zoners]], but it's less helpful when you really just need another source of damage.
* WrenchWhack: Technically uses spears, but his attack animation has him hitting enemies with his wrench.

!!Misha Cherny (RED Heavy)
->''Heavy''
Misha comes from a very cold gulag in a very cold place; much of his reputation stems from the fact that though he and his sisters escaped, none of the guards did. This experience has not affected the warmth of his personality, though it should be noted that the degree of warmth is directly proportional to the number of dead enemies.
-->'''Misha:''' ''Lots of bullets, lots of sandviches, lots of enemies. Life is good!''
----
* {{BFG}}: Uses them in combat, though none of them are quite as good of a replacement for [[ICallItVera Sasha]].
* BoisterousBruiser: True to form.
-->Ho ho ho! Heavy Guy is coming!
* CallBack: Misha's entire backstory is a reference to the supplementary comic ''A Cold Day In Hell'', which also revealed his first name.
* GatheringSteam: Misha's Momentum skill increases his speed as he regenerates health, making it handy for repositioning in a pinch.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: A SatiatingSandwich, just like in the game. Misha has an exclusive skill in More Sandvich!, but other heroes may use a Sandvich as an equippable item.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Rescue Team DLC]]
!!Sasha Chokyo
->''Beastmaster''
A highly decorated and devastatingly effective drill sergeant, Sasha was politely but firmly discharged after an international diplomatic incident (orders yelled during a parade caused an entire grandstand of visiting dignitaries to leap to attention). She turned her skills to training rescue animals, a perfect job for the most dangerous voice in the galaxy. Having lost her dog during the unfortunate crash of the rescue vessel, she is now looking for something else to train…
-->'''Sasha:''' ''Yell if you see my dog, okay? And yell louder if it bites you.''
----
* TheBeastmaster: Whilst fairly weak on her own, most of her passive skills buff the creatures she makes fight for her in various ways.
* CompellingVoice: Her unique ability forces the strongest enemy in the room to fight for her - for the rest of its life.
* HeroesLoveDogs: Is pretty single-minded about finding her dog again. [[KickTheDog Which she then intends to beat for leaving her on her own.]]

!!Wes Davoun
->''Comms Jockey''
Sound technician and audio engineer, Wes felt obliged to leave civilian life and join the military when his favorite band broke up. With an excellent knack for communications technology he was promoted into the STEAL teams ("Special Technologies And Logistics"), and volunteered to join the Success rescue mission in order to track down a slippery old friend who had left to colonize Auriga with Wes's original copy of the classic "Dust My Room" vinyl by the Trolling Stones.
-->'''Wes:''' ''Radios? Telephones? If it goes "beep" or "boop", I can make it do be-bop.''
----
* AfroAsskicker: He's got quite the afro, though as a support character, he's a bit lighter on the asskicking.
* ArtificialLimbs: Has a robotic arm.
* SoulBrotha: Of the very-fastidious-about-music type.
* SupportPartyMember: An extremely powerful one. Not only is Wes the only hero to start as an Operator, he passively buffs any others on the team, while his special ability "Urgent Call" guarantees that there will be something positive in the next room opened.

!!Zugma Walker
->''Bulldozer''
An operator from her youth, Zugma first played with trucks rather than dolls and then Ogre-scale weapons platforms rather than tanks. A promising career in military engineering with the STEAL teams (Special Technologies And Logistics) was cut short when the officers' quarters she built under enemy fire turned out to be lacking in toilets (and the local diet was laxative-rich). Accustomed to driving machinery under heavy gunfire, the smell of fresh concrete in the morning always reminded her of victory.
-->'''Zugma:''' ''Need help with construction? Destruction? It's all the same to me!''
----
* BadassDriver: Is never outside, and does absolutely everything with, her bulldozer.
* TheBigGuy: Thanks to her bulldozer.
* TheJuggernaut: A combination of the Scamper (is not slowed by enemies) and Steamroller (is slowed less by carrying the crystal) skills makes Zugma quite effective at carrying the crystal. She might be fairly slow under normal circumstances, but other heroes lugging the crystal would be a ''lot'' slower.
* MightyGlacier: Zugma hits hard, tanks well, and has a handful of supremely useful support abilities. The problem? She attacks ''veeeerrrry'' slowly.
* WrenchWench: Eventually learns the Repair and Operate skills.
