It's also worth noting that his original suggestion of running to a nearby farm ''does'' pan out, though [[spoiler: it takes the Creeper putting a ''massive'' hole in the bus' roof in order for that prospect to seem sound]].

And then he tries to convince everyone to throw three of the Creeper's intended victims off the bus, but as one of the kids, D points out, the Creeper picked him too. It's pretty clear that he only cares about his own survival. His girlfriend Rhonda and D both call him out on this.
