[[folder:Luann]]
[[quoteright:480:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/luann_4.png]]
* ACupAngst: One of 13-year-old Luann's constant laments was that she was cursed with "[[WeightWoe too much body]] and not enough figure."
* BystanderSyndrome: For all of her laziness-related flaws, this one is inverted by Luann. If there's a medical emergency in her presence you can count on Luann to step up and try and take charge of the situation. She's not quite a BadassBystander since she still makes the occasional mistake, but it's still noticeable when you compare it to her tendency to be TheDitherer the rest of the time.
* DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife: After she got past her boy-crazy phase, this became her main source of angst. She's got some talents and interests, but none of them seem to add up to an actual calling, whereas everyone around her seem to be absolutely sure of what they want out of life.
* JerkassToOne: Is this to Tiffany, even after Tiffany's CharacterDevelopment. She constantly [[SlutShaming SlutShames]] her, usually some variant of her dating the football team.
* NeverMyFault: Whenever she gets in trouble, she tends to portray herself as the victim and ignore or downplay her own behavior. Demonstrated [[https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2021/10/30 here]] when she was punished for her actions at her daycare job.
* NiceGirl: After her eventual CharacterDevelopment where she forced herself to start thinking about others, at least.
* SmittenTeenageGirl: While in high school, Luann was always utterly ''obsessed'' with one boy or another. One of the collected editions of the strip was even titled "Boys, Bras, Braces, [[DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment and Boys]]." Finally having a boyfriend helped her to outgrow this mindset, as she has been much less "boy-crazy" since breaking up with Quill during college. She's never had an official boyfriend since.
* StillBelievesInSanta: If [[https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2022/12/24 this strip]] is any indication, Luann still believes in Santa at age 19-20 (there's no kids to placate: it's just her, her parents and her best friend Bernice living in the house).
* ThisLoserIsYou: Her original premise was as a sort of every-teen that parodied the foibles of teenage girls mercilessly. She's acquired some maturity and good qualities since then, but she's still pretty messy and hapless.
* TrashOfTheTitans: Even after she's grown up in most other ways, it remains a RunningGag that her room always looks like a disaster area.
* WantsAPrizeForBasicDecency: She sometimes has problems with this, particularly when giving presents to others. For example, she once made a big deal about the Christmas gifts she was giving to Bernice and Delta. Bernice's gift was a giant empty cardboard box, which Luann called a "Big Box of 'Sorry'", as in Luann was apologizing for how self-centered she had acted in the past. Delta's gift turned out to be... Delta's sweater, which Luann had borrowed and never returned. Bernice and Delta were less than impressed, and Luann was left dumbfounded as to why her friends weren't more grateful for [[SarcasmMode these thoughtful Christmas presents.]]
** Her bad gift-giving could be its own RunningGag: In 2011 she gave her entire family empty boxes for Christmas, and then when called out for it she said that each box was "crammed full of love and appreciation for my wonderful family." In 2017 her gift to her father was... [[TrashOfTheTitans cleaning her room.]] In 2020 she took a book off her dad's shelf (one she had given him previously which he had never read) and wrapped it up and gave it to him again, remarking to herself "dad is so easy to shop for."
* WomanChild: Between her [[TrashOfTheTitans constantly messy room]], hitting up her parents for money, avoidance of schoolwork and household chores, hangups around sexuality, as well as her overall “head in the clouds” demeanor, it’s pretty easy to forget that she’s a grown adult attending college rather than a fourteen-year-old girl.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Bernice]]
[[quoteright:480:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bernice_6.png]]
* BrutalHonesty: She considers this her stock in trade, though sometimes it comes across more as reflexive nay-saying.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Becomes this whenever there's a boy she likes. Special mention goes to Zane, her wheelchair-bound boyfriend. Not only was she mad at him for talking to Crystal (who was only his friend and introduced him to her own wheelchair-using brother), she proposed to him when they were still in high school.
* JerkassToOne: Treats her best friend Luann with thinly-veiled contempt a majority of the time. As a result, many readers have begun to openly question why they're even still friends.
* TheKilljoy: Her habit of loudly disparaging anything she felt was beneath her became much more pronounced in college. When Luann eventually took the hint and simply didn't invite her to something (a lingerie party she knew Bernice would ''never'' want to attend), Bernice threw a tantrum and stated that she expects to be invited to everything regardless, so that she can make her choice (and by extension, her negative opinion) known to everyone.[[note]]She's also a {{hypocrite}} about the matter, as when the time came for her to have an event that Luann had no interest in, Bernice was perfectly happy to [[https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2023/01/05 keep Luann in the dark rather than extend an invite.]][[/note]] She also took that same buzzkill attitude towards the university student body as a whole when serving as an RA. Although keeping order in the dorm is admittedly an RA's job, Bernice took things a bit far (knocking on doors to do bed checks, enforcing a curfew on weekends, physically separating couples ''a la'' [[Film/HarryPotterAndTheOrderOfThePhoenix Dolores Umbridge]], etc.). Commenters on ''Blog/TheComicsCurmudgeon'' eventually nicknamed her "the Dormenführer."
* LoveMakesYouCrazy: Normally fairly rational, but her obsessive tendencies go through the roof when there's a guy she likes.
* MySisterIsOffLimits: Bernice has very strong feelings towards her long-lost older brother, to the point of getting angry when she learns that Luann has a crush on him.
* StalkerWithACrush: Towards Piro, to the point of abusing her authority as RA so she could steal his phone number out of Tiffany's phone.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: Everything Luann says to her is immediately reacted to with some snide, passive-aggressive insult.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Delta]]
[[quoteright:150:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/delta_3.jpg]]
* CelibateHero: She does not date, considering it unimportant compared to getting somewhere in life. Given the workload she takes on, she probably wouldn't have time to date even if she wanted to.
* DemotedToExtra: The beauty pageant arc from 2010 (the one introducing Rosa) was the first time Delta played a major role in a storyline in years. And she promptly faded back into the background once it was over. In 2014, she left the strip entirely and hasn't been seen since November of that year. Greg Evans has stated repeatedly that the "perfect" Delta is almost ''impossible'' to write for, owing to her lack of flaws. The more flawed Luann is easier, while Tiffany (who is largely made of personality flaws and hotness) is the simplest.
* FlawlessToken: To the point of it almost being parodied. Was (back when she was in the strip) the only black character, and also the one with absolutely no flaws whatsoever.
* GoGetterGirl: To the point of risking burnout at times. Her goal is to one day be president, and no one doubts that she can do it.
* PutOnABus: She went off to Howard University in 2014, called Luann in November of that year to drop a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech on Luann for not voting in the recent election, and Delta hasn't been seen or heard from since.
* RightlySelfRighteous: Back in the gag-a-day era, the joke with Delta was always how demoralisingly infallible she was, and how smugly aware she was of her superiority. As the strip got more serious, it stopped being played for laughs and she became the official deliverer of objectively correct moral judgments instead.
* SoapboxSadie: On her worst days she could come off as this, like when she grandly declared that ''she'' would be serving food at the local homeless shelter instead of attending the senior prom, and challenged everyone to join her.
* SunglassesAtNight: When she first appeared she was never seen without her cool shades.
* TheTopicOfCancer: Had to undergo cancer treatment at one point, but made a full recovery.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Brad]]
[[quoteright:185:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/uncle1.jpg]]
* TheAllegedCar: His perpetually worked-on Chevy Nova. Though the constant maintenance finally came in handy against Dirk’s muscle car.
* BreakoutCharacter: Became the second main protagonist in the strip once he began his journey towards becoming a firefighter.
* BurgerFool: Brad is this not once but twice with a job at Weenie World. The second time, he has to deal with Ann Eiffel as his boss after being laid-off from his career as a firefighter. This is soon averted when Brad returns to the station and his best friend T.J. takes his place and makes Ann Eiffel's life a living hell by being much better at the job than her.
* CharacterDevelopment: The biggest example in the entire strip. He went from a potato-chip-munching layabout into a heroic firefighter, and from a CovertPervert staring at his neighbor Diane through the window, to a dedicated FamilyMan.
* DoggedNiceGuy: Towards Diane and later Toni. He remained sympathetic most of the time though.
* FamilyMan: He absolutely adores his wife Toni, and loves her niece Shannon a lot more than she does. That being said, he does have a severe problem with disciplining Shannon.
* FireMenAreHot: Used by T.J. and Toni on various occasions. Luann, being his sister, doesn’t see the appeal.
* HandsOffParenting: Unfortunately he lets his niece Shannon do whatever she wants. Nothing she has done has ever earned so much a reprimand from him.
* LoveMakesYouDumb: He acted this way around both his love interests, Diane and Toni, frequently pretending to know about things he's actually clueless about, trying to dress the way they'd like, acting the way he feels they'd like, and randomly stuttering nonsense ("Hey auto go show Toni together with me!").
* OnlyFriend: To T.J., and the reverse is true as well. It’s implied that he could have a wider social circle if he cut TJ loose, but the two are inseparable and nobody wants to befriend Brad if it means having to deal with TJ as well.
* OutOfFocus: Once he and Toni got married, he suffered a major loss of stories centered on him. Since 2016, he’s mainly served as a vehicle for keeping Shannon in the strip.
* ParentalSubstitute: to Shannon, since her father has effectively disappeared from the strip.
* TheRival: To Dirk, and vice-versa. It didn’t help that at the time Toni was acting as MasterOfTheMixedMessage towards them both about her actual feelings for Brad.
* TheSlacker: What he was before his CharacterDevelopment. He mostly just sat around eating junk food until he was inspired by the firefighters on 9/11.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tiffany]]
[[quoteright:480:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tiffany_31.png]]
* AllWomenAreLustful: Constantly tries to steal Kip away from Stef just because he's hot.
* AlphaBitch: She spent high school being ridiculously attractive and popular, and treating losers like Luann with complete disdain.
* BigBeautifulWoman: Even after putting on weight, she still makes sure to look fabulous.
* BrainlessBeauty: Downplayed. She isn't ''completely'' stupid, she's just so sure that looks is all that matters that she often doesn't bother to think.
* BreakoutCharacter: Once Tiffany stopped being simply Luann's AlphaBitch rival and became a viewpoint character in her own right, she exploded in popularity. Nowadays it's not unusual for the strip to spend several weeks following her story, with scarcely an appearance from Luann herself.
* CharacterDevelopment: Underwent this in college, going from an AlphaBitch to a JerkWithAHeartOfGold.
* DumbBlonde: Was this in high school.
* FallenPrincess: After having a downright ridiculously easy time in high school, she finds college much harder. First she is unable to make any friends, then her father gets taken in by a GoldDigger (who makes him cut way down on the money he provides Tiffany with), and the strain of it all makes her gain a lot of weight. On the plus side, she does form some new friendships with Luann and her circle.
* {{Flanderization}}: Summer 2023 saw her go from an interesting, complex character who only tried to seduce Kip every once in a while; to being completely obsessed with seducing Kip, even deluding herself into thinking ''he'' was the one hitting on ''her''.
* HairstyleInertia: She's had the exact same "helmet hair" from the beginning of the strip until the present day. Even in flashbacks showing her and Luann in the third grade, she still had that same hairstyle.
* HiddenDepths: Winds up majoring in Business, and is pretty good at coming up with ideas for her Marketing class.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Throws herself at every guy with a pulse (even trying to seduce Stef's boyfriend Kip), but when it comes to Ox's crush on her, suddenly she "isn't interested in dating." Though this could be because Stef was the one who wanted to get them together, and Tiffany just didn't want her interfering in her life. She hasn't said anything to Ox herself though.
* InformedAttribute: Twofold:
** Her popularity. She was said to be the most popular girl in school, yet only had one friend, with everyone (said friend included) constantly insulting her and treating her like crap.
** Her [[ReallyGetsAround promiscuity]]. Luann constantly [[SlutShaming calls her a slut]], but she never had an actual boyfriend (besides dating members of the football team for a presumably short time) and is as big a virgin as Luann and Bernice. She was never seen kissing anyone, either (in fact, the only person she kissed on the lips was [[ItMakesSenseInContext TJ]]).
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Constantly takes Ox for granted without realizing his obvious crush on her.
* {{Jerkass}}: Was this in high school. Still has moments of this, such as trying to seduce Stef's boyfriend Kip while ignoring Ox's obvious crush on her.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Became this after her CharacterDevelopment.
* LonelyRichKid: Lives alone in her mansion, since her father is never around.
* MsFanservice: Was this in high school. Still has some elements of this after her weight gain.
* OnlyFriend: Despite being supposedly the most popular girl in school, she only had one friend.
* TookALevelInKindness: Tiffany experienced this after the move to college, and especially after her weight gain.
* [[UngratefulBastard Ungrateful Bitch]]: Complains about being single after being told about Ox's crush on her by Stef.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Gunther]]
[[quoteright:480:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gunther_9.png]]
* AbhorrentAdmirer: He was this to Luann for much of the strip’s early years.
* BeautifulAllAlong: Played relatively straight, but with a ''male'' character, as Gunther [[ChangingYourselfForLove drops his glasses and dorky clothing]] to look more acceptable to others.
** When he really wanted to change his style, he had ''Tiffany'' help him. She was [[PetTheDog surprisingly effective at it]], but he ultimately felt more comfortable as himself.
** Gunther got a further (inadvertent) makeover courtesy of a group of senior citizen ladies touring Peru by bus, the result of which was ditching the button-down shirts for sweatshirts and [[PermaStubble facial stubble]]. The cast's females approve, especially Tiffany.
* CantHoldHisLiquor: Gunther slurred his words, stumbled around and passed out for six hours after drinking exactly ''one beer''.
* DoggedNiceGuy: Also towards Luann. He remained mostly sympathetic, but occasionally veered into the darker versions of this trope.
* TheGlassesGottaGo: Finally ditched the glasses and grew some PermaStubble upon his return from Peru.
* GreenEyedMonster: Did ''not'' like seeing Les and Tiffany interested in each other, to the point that he flat-out demanded that Tiffany stop seeing him altogether.
* InformedAbility: Gunther is allegedly a very good science and math student. He hasn't been seen in a classroom setting in many years and the fact that he's still in college and majoring in engineering would be unknown to anyone who just reads the strips and not the website bios if they started at any time past 2014. He also seems to get dragged to scifi conventions by Bets, who is way more into geek pop culture than he is. Other than being overly attached to his mom, it's completely unclear in what sense Gunther is still supposed to be a "nerd" character - he seems to just be a guy who has sex with his popular girlfriend a lot and has lost most of his other character traits (replaced with his [[SuddenlyAlwaysKnewThat skill as a costume maker]]).
* JerkassHasAPoint: Is right about [[{{Jerkass}} Les]] being bad for [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Tiffany]], since she can do way better than him. ([[GentleGiant Ox]], anyone?)
* MommasBoy: He left his girlfriend Rosa behind in Peru at least partly due to the fact that his mother had begun dating again.
* OfficialCouple: Him and Bets. He was the BetaCouple with Rosa back when Luann and Quill were the strip’s OfficialCouple.
* OppositesAttract: He seems to go for girls who are carefree and decisive, in contrast to his own constant fretting and worrying. It doesn't usually turn out well for him; both of his real relationships to date have ended because the girl wanted to venture boldly forth and have adventures, while Gunther wanted to go home and play it safe.
* RelationshipRevolvingDoor: Has this with Bets, going through [[BreakUpMakeUpScenario two break-ups and make-ups with her]] so far.
* StereotypicalNerd: Let’s see: does well in school. Interested in cooking, sewing and close-up magic. Used to wear glasses and plaid shirts buttoned all the way to the top. In high school his portrayal was as stereotypical as the nerds from Series/SavedByTheBell, but at least since then he’s been able to grow a bit. Dating [[GoGetterGirl Rosa]] and later [[SelfieFiend Bets]] has helped him a lot.
* StringingTheHopelessSuitorAlong: He was on the receiving end of this from Luann. As much as she didn’t want to date him, she still enjoyed the idea of someone pining for her, so she’d get possessive of Gunther whenever it looked like someone might draw his attention or he’d simply give up on her. And then as soon as he was smitten with her again, she’d go back to ignoring him.
* TookALevelInKindness: Stopped being a creepy stalker towards Luann, and later stopped being jealous of Les and Tiffany when they stopped seeing each other.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:TJ]]
[[quoteright:480:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tj_9.png]]
* AmbiguouslyGay: TJ is well-dressed and a good cook. We've never seen him with a girlfriend. Josh's commentary on Comics Curmudgeon occasionally lampshades this.
* CheshireCatGrin: TJ's default expression. The near-permanent grin indicates his shifty HighSchoolHustler nature, and it takes a ''lot'' to wipe it off his face.
* DisappearedDad: TJ's father moved to Argentina and TJ hasn't seen him since.
* HighSchoolHustler: TJ is a young adult version of this. He's aged out of school, but the personality remains.
* MissingMom: TJ's mother died in Italy around 2005.
* ObliquelyObfuscatedOccupation: TJ has actually had lots of jobs, but most of them have some motive in mind other than making money (such as finding evidence of Ann Eiffel abusing employees). He seems to have a lot of money that he gets from an unknown source, which he won't divulge. It has caused suspicion both in-universe and out.
* OnlyFriend: TJ is Brad's, and vice-versa. Mostly because nobody else in the strip (other than 6-year-old Shannon) likes TJ, but he and Brad are inseparable and nobody wants to befriend Brad if it means having to put up with TJ as well.
* ParentalAbandonment: Most characters' parents aren't shown; but are often mentioned. However; TJ's parents are never shown nor mentioned, until 2008 when he heavily implies that they might have abandoned him. Later confirmed.
* PerpetualSmiler: TJ, as noted above in the CheshireCatGrin entry.
%%* StepfordSmiler: Possible that TJ may be a male example.
* ToxicFriendInfluence: TJ fulfills this role with Brad. He has gotten Brad into trouble with his borderline illegal schemes and other inappropriate behavior. However, he has done other things that were nice, and it's been implied he has ParentalAbandonment issues... doesn't justify the borderline illegal schemes, though. It should be noted that sometimes those schemes crossed over from "borderline illegal" into [[https://www.gocomics.com/luann/1994/12/13 full-on criminal behavior]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Toni]]
[[quoteright:367:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2024_02_29_131139.png]]
* AscendedExtra: When Toni Daytona debuted in early 2002, she was just one of two cute girls with NoNameGiven who sat next to Brad and TJ in their CPR and EMT classes, so there could be a few gags of [[CasanovaWannabe Brad and TJ flirting with them unsuccessfully.]] If anything, Toni's friend (who's never been named and hasn't been seen since the end of the EMT Class, where TJ dropped out) actually had more to do since TJ was more aggressive in flirting and failing with her than Brad was with Toni. Toni turned up again, briefly, near the end of the year at the impromptu mini-parade Brad's family and friends staged for Brad. It wasn't till the next year that Brad (and the readers) learned Toni's name and we got the whole Brad-Toni-Dirk LoveTriangle.
* ExtremeDoormat: Toni has a very hard time saying no to her brother Jonah (and by extension, Jonah's daughter Shannon). Even when she attempts to stand up to them, she caves in fairly quickly.
* MasterOfTheMixedMessage: Toni admits to doing this to Brad to keep him at arm's length while he pined over her. She would say something that ''could'' be construed as flirty, making him obsess over it, and then turn it to something more innocent several times. During her relationship with Dirk, she made ''both'' of them think she "might" be interested in Brad as something more than a pal.
* TookALevelInKindness: Toni took this when she finally broke up with Dirk and started dating Brad, no longer playing mind games with him.
* WrenchWench: Toni, in addition to being gorgeous, is idealized further by Brad upon discovering she's as into cars as he is, and works on them. He may have won her over a bit initially with his "is it hot in here?" to her "first-time" story of rebuilding a carb.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Stef]]
[[quoteright:480:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tiff_stef.jpg]]
* BrainlessBeauty: Is pretty, and dumb as a post.
* [[EntitledBastard Entitled Bitch]]: Stef really [[https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2023/04/01 doesn't take it well]] when Tiffany declines the opportunity to give her $600 for a cheerleading event.
* EvilIsPetty: Casually fat-shames Dez and Tiffany, and sees no problem with taking her roommates' things without their permission.
* {{Foil}}: [[HateSink Stef]] is one for [[CruelCheerleader high school-aged]] [[RichBitch Tiffany]]. While Tiffany was friends with [[PerkyGoth Crystal]], Stef doesn't appear to have any friends. While Tiffany never had a boyfriend, Stef is rarely seen without her boyfriend Kip. And while Tiffany was an openly cruel AlphaBitch, Stef is more the InnocentlyInsensitive, CondescendingCompassion type.
* HateSink: Has no redeeming qualities whatsoever, and only exists to make her roommates' lives miserable.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Only cares about herself, with no thought to how her actions hurt or inconvenience her roommates.
* {{Jerkass}}: Blatantly [[https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2023/09/04 fat-shaming]] the person who recently gave her $600 certainly qualifies her as this.
* PetTheDog: Her attempt to get Ox and Tiffany together.
* ProperlyParanoid / RightForTheWrongReasons: Is convinced that Kip would cheat on her with Tiffany while he's staying with her for the summer. He doesn't, but Tiffany spies on Kip the whole summer, and even becomes obsessed with trying to seduce him (More than she was already, that is.)
* ReplacementFlatCharacter: Stef is the [[CruelCheerleader mean cheerleader]] of the comic after Tiffany got character development. As noted under {{Foil}} though, they at least have her be a different kind of AlphaBitch.
* ShipperOnDeck: Is this for [[ShipTease Ox and Tiffany]].
* TheSociopath: Besides actually loving her boyfriend, she ticks all of the boxes.
* [[UngratefulBastard Ungrateful Bitch]]: Never thanks her roommates for constantly accommodating her, even to their own detriment.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Kip]]
[[quoteright:317:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2023_10_24_180013.png]]
* FlatCharacter: Has no real personality, only existing to be Stef's boyfriend (and repeatedly attempted to be seduced by Tiffany).
* {{Hunk}}: A well-built jock who's easy on the eyes.
* LovableJock: What little personality he has suggests he is this.
* MrFanservice: A fit jock, even wearing a speedo (offscreen).
* NoAccountingForTaste: Why he's dating [[HateSink Stef]] is a mystery.
* ObliviousToLove: Completely oblivious to Tiffany's multiple attempts to seduce him.
* SatelliteLoveInterest: Is this for Stef. He's hot, Asian, plays football, can be kind of a jerk (never apologizing to Tiffany for him and Stef borrowing her towel without her permission and using it [[{{Squick}} for post-sex cleanup]], making mean comments with Tiffany about Dez), and... that's it.
* TokenMinority: The only Asian character of the cast.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Jack]]
[[quoteright:478:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2024_02_29_133600.png]]
* DumbMuscle: Subverted. He isn't dumb, he just isn't very articulate.
* HeroesLoveDogs: He's great with dogs and thinking of becoming a veterinarian.
* LanternJawOfJustice: Got a chin that could sink a battleship.
* LovableJock: Very into sports, but also very nice.
* MrFanservice: Is a very muscular jock and has appeared naked twice.
* TheNotLoveInterest: To Luann, even though [[ShipperOnDeck Tara thinks they have chemistry]].
* OddFriendship: With Nil the gloomy Goth.
* PunnyName: He's a jock named Jack.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Shannon]]
[[quoteright:207:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2023_10_24_175225.png]]
* BrattyHalfPint: Constantly throws tantrums when she doesn't get her way.
* CheerfulChild: Can be this, mostly when she's being spoiled.
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: Is prone to this, being a six-year-old. One example, she thinks an {{Music/ACDC}} backpack is a misspelling, and should read ABCD.
* CousinOliver: Shannon was originally just a BrattyHalfPint that was occasionally babysat by Luann, but was later [[RetCon retconned]] into Toni's niece. Over time she appeared more and more, to the point where now she's essentially being raised by Toni and Brad, even moving in with them and getting her own room (good luck finding a Brad/Toni story since 2018 that doesn't focus mainly on Shannon) while her actual father [[ParentalNeglect hasn't been seen on-panel in years.]] In addition, she's become a regular at Luann's house as well.
* FriendlessBackground: Has never been shown spending time with a child her own age. The closest thing she has to a friend is her HonoraryUncle TJ.
* HandsOffParenting: How Brad and Toni handle her. For the most part she gets left to her own devices, and no matter what she does (be it raiding people's bedrooms for trinkets or even throwing a metal frying pan at Luann's head), she never gets disciplined for it.
* [[MrImagination Miss Imagination]]: Most of the strips where she's not getting into trouble (and many of them where she is) involve her playing some form of dress-up game.
* ParentalNeglect: Is constantly abandoned by her father (and aunt and uncle), and treated more like a burden than a child in need of a stable adult in her life.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Dez]]
[[quoteright:480:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dez_25.png]]
* CovertPervert: You wouldn't know it from her character (besides her being a nudist), but [[https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2016/05/24 she mentioned to Bernice about having naked yoga meditation with a boy she liked]].
* GranolaGirl: She is a hippie, practicing meditation and using healing crystals.
* InformedAttribute: Is apparently a nudist, but we don't actually see this in action (as much as we can "see" of it, being a PG-13 comic strip).
* NiceGirl: Is constantly trying to support people and improve their well being.
* TheStoner: Averted, but her being mistaken for one by other characters is a RunningGag.

[[folder:Ox]]
[[quoteright:480:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ox.png]]
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: Has a (so far) one sided crush on Tiffany.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Is the sweetest guy, but has no tolerance for bullies.
* BullyHunter: He ''hates'' bullies.
* GentleGiant: Is large and scary looking, but wouldn't hurt a fly.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: Subverted. He originally thought that [[BitchInSheepsClothing Ann Eiffel]] was awfully nice since she made an effort to charm him, but once she tried to blatantly exploit his goodwill for nefarious ends he caught on to her. He's not very smart, but he's not ''that'' dumb.
* IronicName: While "Ox" is a pretty appropriate name for a GentleGiant, it's actually short for "Oxford." He notes that his parents expected him to turn out rather differently than he did.
* KindheartedSimpleton: Dumb, but an absolute sweetheart.
* KnightInShiningArmor: What he imagined being for [[ShipTease Tiffany]].
* NiceGuy
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tara]]
[[quoteright:480:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tara_40.png]]
* AxesAtSchool: Brought a bow and arrow into a kindergarten classroom to show off to Luann's daycare class. Luann was punished for allowing it (as she hadn't even bothered getting permission from the school principal), but Tara didn't get in any trouble at all. Tara's KarmaHoudini status was a case of severe ValuesDissonance for anyone familiar with the increasing number of shootings in American schools nowadays, and the resulting No Tolerance policy towards ''any'' weapon being brought onto a school campus.
* CoolPeopleRebelAgainstAuthority: Her entire ''raison d'etre'' besides adventure seeking.
* {{Delinquent}}: Is a Community College version of this. Fun loving, hates school, casually commits petty crimes.
* TheHedonist: Lives only for fun and pleasure, with no thought of how her actions would inconvenience people around her.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Has this attitude, thinking she can do anything she wants, up to committing crimes, with no consequences.
* ManicPixieDreamGirl: Is a platonic version of this for Luann. She tries to get Luann to care less about rules, and commit crimes (like stealing people's reserved spots at a monster truck rally, and running from security).
* {{Jerkass}}: Casually steals things, commits crimes, and insults authority.
* JerkassHasAPoint: She was right about the art teacher being pretentious. She didn't have to be such a snide bitch about it, though.
* KarmaHoudini: Constantly gets away with crimes. The only comeuppance she got was being kicked out of Moony U for stealing. She wasn't even arrested, just bumped down to taking community college instead.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Gets Luann fired from her daycare job by [[WhatTheHellHero convincing her to bring a live bow and arrow into class!]]
* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: Not shown, but she casually mentions having posed nude for art class.
* ToxicFriendInfluence: She fulfills this role for Luann just as T.J. once did for Brad. At the very least, Luann would still have her job at the daycare if it weren't for Tara.

[[folder:Ann Eiffel]]
[[quoteright:480:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ann_8.png]]
* BitchInSheepsClothing: She can pretend to be nice to get her way... though it clearly doesn't come easy for her.
* DepravedBisexual: Sexually harassed Bernice, but later tried to marry Tiffany's dad.
* {{Ephebophile}}: Sexually harassed 16-year-old Bernice when she was her manager at the bookstore, and [[WordOfGod according to Greg Evans]] she spent her time in Japan "seducing Japanese schoolgirls."
* GoldDigger: Dated Tiffany's dad, and got him to cut Tiff off from most of her funds so he could spend them on her instead.
* HateSink: Oh so very hateable.
* JerkassHasAPoint: On rare occasions.
** While her taking her own son to court to get him to pay back money he stole from her doesn't exactly make her mother of the year, he ''did'' in fact steal it from her. Les even grudgingly admits that he might not be entirely the innocent victim in that situation.
** Tiffany really ''does'' spend her daddy's money with absolutely no regard for its value. Of course, Ann's main problem with that is that [[{{Hypocrite}} she wants to be the one to spend it instead.]]
* KarmaHoudini: She never really gets any comeuppance beyond her schemes simply failing.
* ManipulativeBitch: Her main weapons are seduction, CrocodileTears and the threat of a FrivolousLawsuit.
* MeanBoss: Whenever she has underlings, she abuses them ruthlessly.
** As manager of Borderline Books she was Bernice and Zane's employer, and threatened to fire them if they kept seeing each other. Bernice at first thought she wanted to seduce Zane; Ann actually wanted to seduce Bernice. After making Bernice her personal servant and firing Zane, Ann resorted to outright intimidation, until Borderline's CEO -- who was a friend of Zane -- noticed and transferred Ann to their branch in Japan.
** But that wasn't the last of her. She later showed up as manager of Weenie World, where Brad applied for work after being laid off by the Fire Department. This time, she tried to seduce him, and after finding out about Toni, fired him. Later, TJ started working there to get proof of her abusing employees, and not only made a recording of her saying she cons people and took complete credit for his ideas, but trying to ''sue Toni's five-year-old niece'' for biting her. Ann then attempted to seduce TJ, but he wasn't having any of it.
** Ann refuses to go away: Not only is she Leslie's mom, she's also dating Tiffany's father. [[spoiler:At least she ''was'' dating him, until she tried TheBabyTrap on him and her deception was revealed. She ended up dumped and PutOnABus once more.]]
* PunnyName: She's quite attractive, "an eyeful."
* SmugSnake: She's underhanded, but really not as smart as she thinks she is. Most of her appearances have her lording minuscule amounts of power over the few people below her.
* StupidEvil: She often seems to be under the impression that being unnecessarily awful to people will in itself make her successful.
* TheVamp: Ann Eiffel, though she's more G-rated than most examples of this trope.
* VillainBall: Her keeping the ultrasound when she had already got Tiffany's dad to propose to her proves to be her downfall.
* VillainExitStageLeft: Keeps leaving the comic without facing any comeuppance, then returning after a while.
* WoundedGazelleGambit: Her favourite tactic to keep Tiffany's dad siding with her over Tiffany, and annoyingly effective.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Bets]]
[[quoteright:480:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bets.png]]
* BlitheSpirit: For better or worse. She gets a lot of ideas that she gets excited about and tries to get other people to go along with. Sometimes that works out for them, sometimes not.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Downplayed, but she sometimes isn't too happy with Gunther having so many female friends whose lives he seems to be very invested in.
* {{Cosplay}}: One of her main interests, and something she bonds with Gunther over (though she's more into wearing the clothes, and he's more into making them).
* ItsAllAboutMe: Has this attitude at times, seemingly only caring about her and her viewers over her boyfriend Gunther. Their breakup cemented her as this.
* {{Jerkass}}: Can be this at times. Special mention goes to her filming Stef and Tiffany's fight to add clout to her channel, instead of doing anything to stop it. Her breakup with Gunther solidifies her as this.
* ManicPixieDreamGirl: Recently introduced character Bets is showing signs of playing this role for Gunther. She's pretty grounded when helping Tiffany get her life and studies together, though.
* PutOnABus: She and Gunther went on a roadtrip in the summer of 2023. He came back alone, saying that she'd decided to keep traveling indefinitely.
* SassyBlackWoman: She describes her influencer persona as a "saucy young woman of colour."
* SelfieFiend: Her main personality trait. Everything she does ''has'' to be shown to her followers. Best exemplified by her ImagineSpot of a [[https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2023/11/06 surprise reunion with Gunther.]]
* TheBusCameBack: Came back during Tiffany's Halloween party, and was talked into taking Gunther back by Tiffany.

[[folder:Les]]
[[quoteright:480:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/leslie_67.png]]
* TheBully: He was first introduced as a bully wanting to beat up Gunther. He hasn't got any better in later years, constantly insulting Gunther for being a nerd.
* CasanovaWannabe: He manages to go on a lot of first dates. Other characters suspect that he doesn't go on a lot of second ones.
* EmbarrassingFirstName: He hates being called "Leslie."
* FreudianExcuse: He is the son of Ann Eiffel, with all what that entails for the sort of childhood he must have had. To what extent that excuses his behaviour is up to interpretation.
* {{JerkAss}}: He's pretty much constantly rude and selfish. His constant insulting of Gunther for being a nerd doesn't help, either.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Can be this at times.
* KindheartedCatLover: Maybe. For some reason cats love him, and while he'd never admit it, the feeling seems to be mutual.
* NeverMyFault: To hear Les tell it, everyone is always against him and he never gets a chance. He doesn't seem to consider that his own behaviour has anything to do with that.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Knute]]
[[quoteright:150:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/knute2.jpg]]
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: After the cast graduated from high school he was around less and less, eventually disappearing entirely.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: His head is always in the clouds.
* CoolShades: Never seen without his sunglasses.
* FunPersonified: He basically just wants to goof off and have a good time.
* JobsOnlyVolunteer: He ended up working on the school paper with Delta for years this way - he was the only other person who showed up to the first meeting. Because he thought it was the meeting for a new skateboard club.
* OddFriendship: With Gunther the high-strung nerd, who he constantly tried to get to loosen up.
* OppositesAttract: He ended up in a (vaguely defined) relationship with Crystal the somber Goth girl. While completely opposite in most ways, they seemed to bond over the fact that neither of them cared the least about fitting in.
* PerpetualSmiler: Always has a cheeky grin on his face.
* TheSlacker: Attempts to make him to take his school work (or just about anything else) more seriously are always doomed to failure.
