Nornagest: Cut the following — it didn't work with the old name and it doesn't work with this one, but now it's more obvious.

* The Trains Run on Time: No problems at all.
** Averted; barely any nations have delayed trains, so to speak.

Amitabho: "No personal views?" Where do you come from where what an essentially enormous city block of a fascist dictatorship police state, even worse than 1984, isn't a dystopia? Somehow I think you are a fascist.

JBK 405: Well, that is certainly quite an embellishment. I in no way, shape, or form stated that the nation in question is not a fascist nation. I don't even know the nation in question, I know nothing about the nation in question. That's not the point. My "personal views" remark (Which, in hindsight, is not the correct description, and actually makes very little sense, so I do apologize for describing it as such in the edit box) was a reference to including any sort of personal experience onto this page. Specific examples, in a sense. Most nations, even the oldest and largest of them, are known only by a small percentage of the total players, and if we start listing specific examples this article will either grow bloated beyond measure (With hundreds, perhaps thousands of nations listed in each category) or be filled with natter ("This nation is the perfect example of this trope." "No it isn't, that one is"). I have absolutely no problem with saying "There are nations that do this, this and this;" but if we say "Nation XXX specifically does this, this and this" then it brings up problems (Including what happens when that nation expires for inactivity or is deleted, or that player comes here and decides to re-write the article to portray himself/herself in a more positive light).

And, I must point out, I am most certainly not a fascist. Fascism is a flawed political system that creates an unsustainable society which both history and logic has demonstrated is unable to survive the myriad problems which face any sort oppressive society.

Amitabho: Maybe some people want their nation up there. In any case, it should remain in check if we only keep notable nations up there. For a million tin cans, there is on exceptional tin pot.

We ought to add in NSG references too.

Skadrii: As far as I can tell, an awful lot of the entries are for things that happen in the forums. Being a user of the website, I note that the forums consist entirely of user-generated content and have very little to do with the game (to the point that some people even completely dissociate the roleplay of their forum-side nations from the game-side examples). Wouldn't Troper Tales be a better place for all of the forums-related examples, saving the main page for in-game examples (i.e. issues, the World Assembly, or.... uh, issues)?

I mean, the purpose of roleplay is entirely different from that of every other form of media covered on this very wiki. While a TV show, film or even web-original material like fanfiction is meant primarily to be viewed/read by others, roleplays are conducted mainly for the benefit of the participants, and is often not intended to be read by outsiders (and indeed can appear deadly dull when actually read by outsiders, no matter how interesting it may seem to the players). Listing references from the RP forums are a bit like listing references on the Dn D page from things you did in your last campaign.

Pinata: As someone who barely touches the non-forum aspects of the game, I have to disagree. Most people are there to roleplay. There are defender/raider nations and other "gameplayers" out there, but A)they're outnumbered, and 2)in my experience, they're less likely to visit TV Tropes.

As for the "no personal views" argument... I can see how it might get out of hand if we let it, but JBK 405's edits do seem rather Orwellian.
