Andyzero: They never say "Tengu." They say "Bird Tribe", although there are physical similarities when they fight one in the Kyoto arc. Maybe it's rude to say that? Like how one should never call a member of "The Fair Folk" a "fairy?"
Looney Toons: <shrug> Could be, but there's no evidence (that I've so far seen) one way or the other.
I removed the non-mammal mammaries link from the Max Ride example because the author specifically points out that the oviparous bird-humans don't have mammaries.
PD: Does this trope cover non-human humanoids as well (e.g. Intelligent Gerbils and Funny Animals in addition to bird-type Petting-Zoo People?)
