Miss Hap: Would it be worth mentioning that there's a comedic variation of this? A character is woken up by a bucket of water not because the person waking them up is their enemy, but just doesn't care that much about the character's comfort. I think of two examples of this, in the first Pirates Of The Caribbean movie and the book version of Neverwhere.
