From YKTTW Working Title: Was Just Leaving

YYTW Person A is being harassed by Person B, and just as the conversation reaches a climax, a third character walks in and says, "Is Person B bothering you?", to which Person A replies, "No, Person B was just leaving." Then Person B Leaves. I saw a mention of it a long time ago on YKTTW, but I can't find it now.

reply: This is a good trope, Seen It A Million Times, but really can't think of any examples. As a device, it's a handy way to quickly end a scene while describing the relationships among the three characters.

reply: You could shorten it to "Was Just Leaving"; sometimes Person B says, "No, I was just leaving" himself. Perhaps he sees himself outmatched (for now) or that making a bigger scene would be more trouble than it's worth.

reply: Seconding shortening the title to Was Just Leaving.

reply: I'll third the shortening to Was Just Leaving.

reply: Fourthed shorting the title to Was Just Leaving

reply: @cyberakuma13/OP: Here's the original Just Leaving YKTTW you were remembering. It's also mentioned as a possible Stock Phrase on Lost And Found.

reply: I'd like to add that 90% times Person C is a threatening-looking husband/boyfriend, and Person A is his wife/gf. Person B is often either a creepy stalker/drunkard type guy, or a "tragic hero who desperately tries to tell her the truth and she doesn't want to listen"... who mostly looks like a creepy stalker/drunkard type guy, too )

reply: Happens in Tomorrow Never Dies - with Bond as B, IIRC.

reply: Should we launch?

reply: End of markup
